Priscilla's plan was working... sorta.

While the earliest bit of her plan, the bit where she had to escape detection through the ways of her family magic, had been successfull, the girl was quick to realize that... her plan ended sorta there.

Maybe she had focused so hard on 'getting away' and less on 'what to do next' to realize she really didn't have much of a choice after being freed into the unfamiliar town's streets.

Bolting around with her tattered and rather common hooded coat that hid away her unique hair color and eyes, she tried to find solace to a few inns here and there, but most were either too packed or outright closed.

Her smile, born from her earlier successes, was now upside down as she scowled through the streets she was barely capable of traversing without incurring in large crowds.

She saw drunken men wasting no time in eyeing her, and the thought those could do like they did with the few dumb women that got within their reach had her steps renewed.

After a while, Priscilla did something risky: she outright left the village and tried to find other places to hide out for the day.

There had to be some abandoned home for her to temporarily stay. A place desolate enough that no one would check for her into.

To her dismay, that wasn't the case. To her feet's own survival, this wasn't the case at all.

Huffing, the young woman turned a corner- then the other one before passing through a brief forest area that seemed to have been cut down to some extent and...

She froze up at what she found next - a large villa with many tended fields.

Priscilla's eyes widened. Did a noble live around? A rich one at that?

A baron? Nay, a Duke?!

Unease briefly vanished in return to her mind sticking to her amorous novels, to those romances where a lonely noble man of unholy beauty wished to live alone but a young maiden found him and brought him love to thaw his heart.

At the mere thought of an easy escape and even a good handsome hunk waiting beyond those walls, Priscilla bolted towards the gates, taking her time to just observe a rare occurrence.

Instead of peasants or serfs tending the land, it was golems. A lot of them. Some even of high quality.

Her gaze was mesmerized by the 'might' their controller had to have to keep such an operation going on undisturbed and endlessly.

Yet, her hopes and dreams died a ugly death as soon as she reached the closed entrance and found the messages screwed against the surface of the gates.

Only by Invitation - Invaders go Home or die by Golem!

She flinched, the noble lady eyeing the lone Golem, a tall and mighty one, giving her a most flat look.

Magic she may have, but she had reason to think this was just the first line and entering the gates wasn't any simple.

She huffed, trying to look for any 'flaws' into the walls when she saw something before leaving.

Something then 'dragged' her back to the entrance as she saw something shift through the nearby bushes within the manor's gates.

She saw... a head pop up, cat ears and yellow feline eyes. Those stared at her, and she blinked back as her own blue eyes seemed to mesmerize the little cat-girl.

The child stepped out of the bush, holding a small colorful ball within her hands and tilting her head at her.

"H-Hi."

The cat-girl waved at her, but said nothing as the staring resumed.

...

"I-Is this your home?"

The cat-girl blinked and nodded.

"Oh... Is- Are your parents inside?"

The kid nodded again. Then frowned.

"Who are you?" The little girl squeaked/asked, making Priscilla's heart warm up intensely.

"I-I am... Priscilla."

"Ame."

A cute name, Priscilla praised in her mind as she smiled.

"Nice to meet you, Ame. Would it be... possible to speak with your-"

"Granddad."

Gah, it's an old man!

A sad news, but not too bad. She wasn't a picky girl and she need a place where to stay.

"Could you tell him that I need shelter?"

Ame... nodded. And left.

Priscilla blinked, shoulders sagging as she doubted this was going to work. She looked over her shoulder and to the village.

The celebrations were about to start from the way the sky had darkened, and it was fair to say her father already knew she had left. He may cover for her, at least until the Prime Minister wanted to see her and... maybe there was no way out. Maybe this was the only way.

Maybe this was all for nothing and-

"Yo, who the hell are you?"

The sudden loud voice, and the rude tone, made Priscilla jump in shock as she turned to see... a young man. About her age. Not handsome, but far from ugly - average.

"I... What?"

"Your name, missy."

"...Pr-Priscilla-"

"Title and where you are from."

A-A servant. It has to be the servant of this place. No way this was a 'granddad'.

"My father is the Duke of Arenthal, and I... run away from there." She finished by aiming a finger at the village and... turning to see the man flash a flat look to her.

"Why did you run away?"

She flinched. "A-Arranged marriage."

The man looked away, scratching the back of his head and... he huffed.

"Fine, sounds just enough. But you are now Ame's babysitter or something."

...Eh?

Is it wise father? Nobles can be dangerous-

"Heh, fuck them, kiddo. I told you this less for an advice and more about telling you about our new guest."

Terra huffed, the drake having just gotten to a nice spot to chat with me at a long distance. They had been flying to break a clash between lesser dragon tribes, and since those took a while to truly get bad, Terra could afford a break to speak with me.

I was sitting in one of the living room's couth, a cup of warm coffee in my right hand while my left one patted Ame's head as the little one napped on my lap.

I understand as much. I am just raising concerns. What if this is... one of 'those' women.

I nodded in agreement, but I was prepared for this. "Which is why I have maximum surveillance on her. Also, did a bit of digging and she didn't lie. Ugly prime minister, no chance to say no, she kind of 'stumbled' here."

And?

"And what?"

Are you really keeping her around? She could not be a direct threat, but if it was found that you harbor a fugitive lady-

"Then they will try to get her, and I may have to 'flex' a bit."

My confidence was not ill-placed. I had been so paranoid of eventually facing a whole country or more from the very day I got Terra that I had been getting a whole lot of modern golems to deal with this shit. I was, without any hesitation, the most dangerous 'mini-country' this planet has ever seen.

Which is going to tip the balance of things and draw more eyes on you.

I opened my mouth and... closed it. "Fair. But it's not like I plan to let her go around without something to disguise herself. And I doubt she wants to be let out of the manor's realm for at least two weeks."

Terra huffed.

You are truly hellbent about it.

"If I can help someone that doesn't deserve this shit, then why not. I taught you that, didn't I?"

The dragon... smirked.

I loathe how much wise you can be at times, father.

"And I loathe the sass that response carries, child. Now go on and break some heads. I hope you don't get any new surprises when you come back."

Terra rolled their eyes.I will not.

The call ended and I sighed - I could tell this was not going to be as easy as any of us wanted but... heh, fuck it, I am ready for war and shit.

AN

Ame gets a babysitter, and Max gets comfy in his little lair of happiness and despair. Terra? They are about to bring (indirectly) some more trouble to their dad in the long run.
