When Asa passed away, it was a quiet affair. Val was taken out of their old rooms and made to stay with the older nurse who had treated her burns, both to their dislike. The nurse just saw her as a child plopped into her care, not listening to the explanation that Val was an adult not much younger than Vegeta. The nurse at least gave her work to do in the med bay by essentially making her an apprentice, enough to take her mind off of losing Asa some, but not enough of a distraction to keep her from planning and plotting her escape. She just was not so sure how she convince Frieza to take her from the ship to the planet he was planning on going. She heard enough gossip in the med bay to know whatever there was on that planet, it was something that would make him immortal, something he desired very much. Apparently it was all based on information the three Saiyans had gathered, even if neither of the three of them had returned from the planet where Raditz's brother lived.

She was cleaning the rejuvenation tank's controls, studying them to learn them, when one of Frieza's men came into the room, telling her she had been summoned to see Frieza. She closed her eyes briefly and then followed him quietly. She walked into the presence chamber, still disliking the sight of the big, wide window that viewed everything. In sight now was Planet Frieza 79, where they would touch down for supplies before going onto the mystery planet, the planet Asa told her to escape on the second she got the chance.

"Come here, child," Lord Frieza beckoned the second she entered the room. She noticed two of his lackies flanking him, Dodoria and Zarbon. She approached, standing before him, but bowed quickly, deeply, and quietly. She felt him watch her as she straightened up, trying not to trip over her oversized clothing. She felt the vial on her neck thunk on her chest under her shirt as she moved. She did not meet his eyes, as Asa taught her. "Napa's dead and Vegeta has gone AWOL," he told her. She kept herself still, not reacting. "Vegeta killed him, and he groveled just before he died, according to the recordings I heard." She kept herself still, feeling a sinking feeling in her stomach. "What curse did you place on Napa again?" he pressed.

She stood still, not sure what to say in response, so she tried giving an answer similar to what Asa would. "I can't curse anyone," she answered.

"You can and you did, girl, what did you say? What did you say to him when you last saw him?" he insisted.

She tried again, "that he would die, groveling at the hands of Raditz's brother." She hoped the lie ran smoothly into the truth to throw him off the scent.

She could feel him studying her, suspicious. "Show me your arms," he ordered.

She pushed her sleeves up and held her arms up higher for him to see. Burn scars were just discoloration on her arms now. The nurse said they would fade eventually. She hoped when she grew, they would disappear completely. "You've healed, more or less," he commented dryly. He snagged up one of her forearms, pulling her closer. "Undo what you said about me, enchantress," he demanded. She resisted the desire to flinch away. "Do it again, but this time say I will have immortality."

She blinked up at him, drawing her arm away when he let her go. "I can't... I don't know how or what is was... I was just upset was all..." she excused.

"Dodoria or Zarbon, kill her," he ordered. She stepped back nervously, looking at either fighter flanking him. Dodoria looked excited, cracking his knuckles as he looked down at her.

"Which one of us?" Zarbon asked, looking down at her as well.

"Whoever would prefer it," he answered, looking at her with a wicked smile.

"No," she rushed out. "Don't, I'll do it," she said. She looked at her hands, not sure if it would work, but she had to convince him it did. "You will live forever," she said, trying to sound like she meant it.

He cocked his head at her, looking darkly amused. "Your hands didn't glow," he pointed out, nodding down at them. "Try again."

She looked down at her hands, not feeling anything, not seeing anything. She furrowed her brow, trying to will it to happen. She huffed, trying to force it. She shook her head, feeling annoyed herself. She eyed Dodoria as he started to step closer to her.

"No, don't," she panicked, raising her hands up as he approached. He halted, looking slightly confused. She looked down at her hands, seeing the faint golden glow on them, not quite hurting yet.

Frieza bent forward, watching her intently. "Say what I told you to say," he insisted.

"Wait," Zarbon interrupted. "My Lord, have her say something else, something easier to say and do. Something that could counteract what she said before would be wiser," he suggested.

She watched the three of them, not sure what to do, wanting to run, but too scared to try to do so. Frieza looked down at her, thinking carefully before he spoke. "Say that I will find all seven dragon balls on Planet Namek," he told her.

"The what? Where?" she asked, puzzled.

"Just say it while those hands of yours are glowing," he insisted.

She thought to herself, thinking the planet he named must have been where he was planning to head after Planet Frieza 79. That could be where she could escape. "Can I go there with you...?" she asked slowly, trying not to sound too demanding or too hopeful.

"Yes, fine, enchantress, you can go if you say what I asked you to say," he insisted.

She stood up straighter, feeling her hands and lower arms glow more as she spoke, smarting slightly. "I hope you find all seven dragons balls on Planet Namek," she stated. She gasped when she finished talking, forearms and hands stinging. She shook her arms out, feeling the heat dissipate. She looked them over, glad to see no burns on her this time, but her hands and forearms were faintly pink.

"Very well, you're dismissed," he told her. "You will go with us to that planet, and if I don't get those dragon balls, you will lose another caretaker."

She nodded, "yes, my lord." Outwardly, she tried to look blank. Inwardly, she was elated to finally have a chance to escape, but was now worried about the nurse she lived with, even if they did not like each other very much.
