Chloe's mind was a mess. There was so much going on around her right now she wasn't sure what to think.

The main problem being, she had to be rushed out here to Viridian City with her father, flown personally by The gym leader of her home town in his personal jet because her mother was out of town currently and she wasn't considered of age right now

Though apparently Goh was even though he was a few months younger than her, or he was at least, and so was some crazy kid more two years younger than her.

And on a fighter jet at that.

Why was Lieutenant Surge even allowed to own a personal war machine? Just because he was a trainer? A Gym Leader?
Either way, she should be back home in Vermillion City right now. It wasn't like she could do much, but she could at least try and cheer Goh up.

He was currently in hospital and devastated.

His license as a pokemon trainer had been suspended. He'd been caught up with some pokemon thief with a Farfetch'd and a bunch of voltorb for whatever reason who tricked Goh and stole a bunch of his pokemon and then stranded Goh on a boat in the middle of a lake…which had a hole in it.

Goh couldn't swim, and quite frankly he'd been lucky he hadn't drowned. He would have if not for the help of a passing pokemon, a Pelipper Chloe thought it was, but she couldn't remember to be sure.

She'd never really had that much interest in pokemon, in fact she tended to shy away from them and trainers because of how much time of her fathers they took up, she rarely got to see him growing up as he became a Pokemon Professor.

Either way, Goh had chased the thief down with his new pokemon quickly and attacked him to get his pokemon back, only apparently the thief was rather inept and Goh almost killed him…and caused quite a bit of property damage in a small village when the thief let loose a bunch of his voltorb and had them all explode.

Honestly, Chloe didn't even have the full story. All she knew was that the thief was bound for prison when he recovered, and Goh was lucky he wasn't as well. Because apparently, he'd had a lot of complaints levied against him for misconduct as a trainer, and on multiple occasions got in other trainers way to capture pokemon they'd already weakened and snatch up for himself.

…Which had led to him getting into physical altercations, started by his own mouthy attitude, which led to him getting beaten up multiple times.

While the situation with the thief wasn't his fault, because of his actions which Chloe wasn't really privy to, it escalated massively. And as such, he was considered a danger to people and pokemon alike and had his license as an active trainer revoked.

He was allowed to keep the pokemon he currently had, but he was no longer allowed to capture more pokemon, travel actively as a trainer, challenge gyms and such apparently.

Chloe wished she could say she was surprised, but she wasn't. Ever since he started obsessing over Mew as a kid and wanting it as his starter pokemon, and pulled further and further away from people because of a lack of seeing his busy working parents and people finding his dream outrageous and completely outside the realm of probability, he'd gained a bit of an insufferable know it all arrogant attitude.

It served him right really for constantly ignoring her warnings and pleas for him to shape up before he became a trainer, but he was still her friend, so she should be showing him support right now.

…Not watching some utterly crazy kid she only heard of yesterday when he went viral online for beating up a few massive scary pokemon, battling the champion.

Who even did that? How did a kid even do that? She still couldn't wrap her mind around seeing him grab a massive Gyarados by the fangs and bodily lift it into the air and slam it down as if he was wrestling with a friend his own size, if not smaller.

"I have never in my life seen a Dragonite like this at all," she heard her father mutter to Professor Oak, as they watched the kid, Jord's Dragonite give rather crude gestures to the champions on, much bigger and frankly more majestic Dragonite in her own opinion, "It's in their very nature to be gentle, I wonder what circumstances or environments could make such a drastic change?"

"There could be as many reasons as there are stars in the sky, keep in mind each and every single pokemon is as unique as any human," Professor Oak replied, a wry smile on his face as he observed the battle, "Though I do admit the difference in it between every other Dragonite I've seen including my own, is staggering. This Jord truly has a talent for finding rare specimens, that's for sure."

"Indeed," her father nodded, "I was hoping to offer him sponsorship with my laboratory and special care for his many pokemon, but…I'm afraid we wouldn't be able to handle such a pokemon if it were left back at our lab beyond keeping it cooped up in its pokeball all the time, unlike yourself I'm not a battler."

Frankly, Chloe hoped he didn't offer, she didn't want to be anywhere near that thing. She saw footage of it outright attacking that Jord boy, if it were her in his place she'd have been hurt really badly, maybe even killed!

"Frankly, I'm not sure my pokemon could handle it consistently either, especially with all the other pokemon that need to be looked after at my ranch," Professor Oak chuckled, "Though, I've got enough pokemon to look after as is between my grandson and young Ash, I dare say they give this young Jord a run for his money in capturing rare pokemon. Ash himself in the last few days caught an overly violent Riolu of all things, alongside an Onix which he has already evolved into a Steelix and quite a mischievous Gengar, utterly absurd, I tell you."

Ash…that was the pretty older woman she was standing next to's son, wasn't it? Delia was her name.

Another crazy thing, Chloe refused to believe such a youthful beautiful woman who looked like she was still in her early twenties, had a son her age!

"That boy," Delia tittered cupping her cheek, "I suppose he has inherited quite the talent from that deadbeat father of his." as she spoke, Chloe noticed the woman's eyes shifting to the side and looking away from the confrontation between Lance and the Jord kid, to the side where Surge and the rather intimidating man in a pitch black charcoal suit stood.

Giovanni, another gym leader if she remembered right. She was sure she heard kids in her class talk about him a lot. But then they spoke about pokemon trainers and all that stuff constantly, always going on about how they wanted to be trainers, though none of them ever pursued the option to become one.

God they were annoying, always talking over her and going on as if she'd already had her goal in life and career picked out and that she was going to be taking over for her father as a new premiere pokemon researcher and how lucky she was.

"What'ya think his odds are?" she noted Surge talking to Giovanni.

Giovanni merely snorted, "Absolutely zero," he replied without taking his steely gaze off of the casually talking Lance and Jord, "The boy is incredible, and I don't mean to besmirch his strength and ability, but even if we both teamed up together we'd stand absolutely no chance as well, I can tell from just that brief bout between that Dragonite and the Aerodactyl, that none of my pokemon could hope to bring it down, and I doubt the boy will be able to land even a scratch currently. In a few years, that may change given the pace the boy and his pokemon seem to be growing, but not right now."

"He might surprise ya," Surge snorted back, "Admittedly, I ain't seen much of his pokemon, but he ain't had time with that Aerodactyl to teach it to fight the same way he has the others."

"You actually think he'll win?" Giovanni asked, raising a single finely groomed eyebrow and giving Surge a dubious look.
"Nah, not a chance," Surge shook his head and denied, "But I know for sure Lance's Dragonite isn't gonna be walking off this field without at least a limp. Just wait till the kid brings out that monster bird of his and you'll see what I mean."
"Hmm…" Giovanni merely hummed and didn't reply.

'Monster bird?' Chloe cocked her head puzzled, her attention turning back to the battlefield and peering through the throngs of reporters as the boy, Jord said something low to his Dragonite that she couldn't make it with the distance, which drew a savage scary smile from the dragon pokemon as it whirled back around to face the larger of the two.

Which brought her thoughts back to what she heard earlier. He had another one, that he'd given to a girl for free. Which according to Lance, the champion himself, could have easily went for twenty five million pokedollars.

That was insane. With that much, she'd easily be set for life and this kid just casually gave it away to a girl…because…because they were having sex?

Her cheeks blazed red at the thought. That kid was two years younger than her, yet he was of age and able to do such a thing just because he was a trainer, where as she was not.

Not that she wanted to, but how was that even fair just because he was allowed to walk around with pokemon stuck in a pokeball and attached to his belt?

Chloe had never been interested in being a pokemon trainer. She'd considered it, even done a little studying for it at her fathers urging, but she'd never really had an interest in it. Honestly, she hadn't found a true interest she wanted to pursue yet in life.

But she'd never realised, how…lucrative being a pokemon trainer was. Well, if it was done right like this Jord kid was doing, she knew for a fact that Goh had less than ten thousand pokedollars in his back account.

And apparently being a good looking girl attached to a successful trainer meant you just got handed twenty five million just because. Maybe trying out being a trainer wouldn't be a bad idea? At least if she did it right she could make a living later even if she didn't like it.

She didn't have that much long later before she'd be forced into finding a profession regardless.

'What am I even thinking!?' cheeks burning, Chloe shook her head and dismissed those thoughts and was very thankful for the distraction of the battle beginning once more as Lance and Jord's conversation died down and the much smaller Dragonite gave an intimidating roar and shot through the air like a speeding bullet towards the bigger one, crackling electricity bursting to life around one of its fists and moving so fast Chloe barely saw a blur.

Chloe saw a flash of green come from Lance's Dragonite, and then there was a thunderous boom. A yelp left her throat and her hands went straight down to her skirt as a massive blast of wind erupted from the battlefield and almost lifted it straight up and exposed her underwear!

When she looked back up, she noticed a massive plume of dust and smoke hovering in the air and laying face down in the middle of a massive crater was Jord's Dragonite, Lance's own pinning it down with one hand enshrouded with a massive claw of shimmering green energy.

It was completely immobile.

…What?

All that tough attitude and arrogant posturing, and that was it? It was down already?

"Hmm, about as expected," Lance mused aloud, "Its speed for its age is quite impressive, but it's still so young and has much to le-

Lance was cut off as blue energy burst into existence around the smaller Dragonite and the champions eyes widened as a wall of blue power exploded upwards and smashed into his Dragonite, forming into a huge roaring serpentine shape like that of a Gyarados and washed over the bigger Dragonite and shot high into the air.

It roared higher and higher into air and within the blink of an eye, the huge serpentine energy beast was hundreds of feet in the air and dissipated to reveal both Dragonite high in the sky.

The bigger of the two was slightly scuffed, both arms held up in a guard around its face while the smaller of the two, was heavily bruised already just from that single attack, blood streaming down its face and dying its visage with a terrifying crimson red.

And unleashing a thunderous barrage of blurring punches that sounded like missiles going off, before promptly spitting out a massive trio of jagged icy blue beams that slammed into the other Dragonite and froze its arms over.

The smaller didn't let up in its barrage of punches for even a second. But it didn't last long before the bigger of the two broke free with a jerk of its arms, green energy exploding into existence with a flash of light once more and smashed its clawed arm down over the top of the smaller Dragonite's head.

It slammed into the ground a split moment later like a cruise missile and a thunderous boom echoed as it cratered the battlefield inwards.

the force of it was so crazy Chloe actually stumbled and almost fell, and would have if Delia didn't catch her around the shoulders and steadied her, "Careful dear, battles of this level can get kind of crazy when you're up close and personal like this." she smiled at her prettily.

Chloe nodded numbly, "…Thanks…" she replied, her eyes finding themselves locked onto the battlefield and unable to look away.

To her reluctant awe, the smaller of the Dragonite heaved itself to its feet, body littered with wounds and eyes burning with a flame of determination that shook her.

It opened its mouth and roared challengingly up at the bigger Dragonite who'd smashed it into the ground.

Before its legs gave out beneath it and it fell face first onto the ground, unconscious. Or it would have, if a beam of red light didn't wash over it before it hit the ground.

Jord had returned it to its pokeball before it fell.

There was a wide smirk on the boys face, "I knew we didn't have the speed or power to do anything head on, Aerodactyl already proved that," he announced, "But don't underestimate my pokemon's tenacity, no matter how powerful your pokemon, I knew Dragonite wouldn't go down quietly, so we simply took a hit to give one back."

In return, Lance laughed, a massive, powerful booming sound that echoed through the air, "Impressive, using my own experience against me, huh?" he noted aloud, confusing Chloe, "I'm an expert on dragon pokemon, especially of the Dragonite line, I can roughly tell how powerful they are from a single glance. But I didn't take into account the personality of your Dragonite. That Dragon Rush sure was something."

"He's a runt with a chip on his shoulder," Jord shrugged, smirk not wavering in the least, "He's got a lot to prove, especially against another Dragonite and wouldn't allow himself to go down. I trusted he wouldn't go down with one hit, so I made my plan based on that." he added as he reached for his belt, switching Dragonite's with another.

"And you were right, your trust and faith in your pokemon wasn't misplaced at all and Dragonite rose to the occasion to prove your belief in him was correct," Lane praised, "I'm quite excited to see what he'll be like in a few years."

"It'll be like night and day," Jord replied, "But for now, let's see how you deal with my pretty darling here, come on out Milotic!"

Jord's third pokemon was released onto the cratered and heavily damaged battlefield in another burst of bright silvery white light to reveal a massive, majestic beautiful serpentine pokemon

Chloe felt her mouth drop in surprise as she saw it, "So…pretty." she involuntarily said aloud as the Milotic gave a beautiful trill that tingled within her ears.

She was still aware enough though to see even more palpable excitement come from the reporters observing the battle.

"So Milotic is up next?" Lance noted with a grin, "Another extremely rare and powerful pokemon, and a beauty of the ages for sure. How did you get this one I wonder? There's less than ten recorded people on our records that have a Milotic, most of them were caught in the wild too, only two of them have been evolved from a Feebas and one of them belonged to Champion Wallace of the Hoenn Region."

"She worked very hard." was all Jord said in response, the smirk on his face, if Chloe was not wrong…looked quite…smarmy.

Between Aerodactyl and Dragonite, I've got a good feel for Lance's Dragonite's ability now. While they weren't really taking us seriously at all, their efforts allowed me to gauge the general range of Lance's Dragonite's ability.

It was a monster, a stupidly overpowered monster. Not even Pidgeot has a chance against it one on one. My only chance to bring it down, is to wittle it down with every pokemon I have leading up to Pidgeot.

A Milotic on land against a Dragonite? Especially one much stronger than the Milotic, on paper is a horrible match up.

And even right now in just taking everything into account my gorgeous girl is capable of physically and energy wise, there's very little that she can accomplish.

But, that is not taking into account the mental factor of things. Milotic might be a majestic beauty of a pokemon, and female. But she's no little damsel.

She's the boss bitch.

"Aqua Ring!" I ordered her as soon as I finished replying to Lance.

"Miloo!" Milotic thrust her head up and trilled immediately, not a moments hesitation upon hearing my voice. Moisture exploded into existence, forming multiple glowing rings of energy filled water around her body from just below her head, straight to her tail.

"Thunder." Lance replied simply and casually, not raising his voice at all. Yet, it was deep and booming regardless, his voice carried an authority without him even having to put any effort into it.

I wanted to learn how to do that.

His Dragonite, hundreds of feet in the air above, heard him without issue and raised one of its arms. Ozone assaulted my nostrils as a burning, crackling aura of deep orange electricity burst into existence around its form and then it thrust its arm down at Milotic and unleashed a gargantuan wave of pure burning lightning down towards her."Dodge!" I hurriedly countered, and she moved.

I saw Lance's eyes widen briefly as Milotic's massive serpentine body rapidly and gracefully slithered across the ground, avoiding the massive force of lightning that tore the battlefield asunder with a thunderous roar, sending massive chunks of debris flying high into the air.

Milotic didn't need my command next, as soon as she dodged she angled her head up and fired off a trio of jagged icy blue beams from directly below Dragonite.

The beams reached it within a few blinks of the eye, but it didn't stop Dragonite from casually twirling around lightly and easily dodging the Ice Beam attack.

'That's fine though.' I thought as Dragonite's gaze locked on Milotic and its wings began to beat, "Get moving, circle the battlefield make and keep firing Ice Beam."

True to my orders, Milotic did just that slithering rapidly around the battlefield, a blur of speed.

"Incredible speed for a Milotic, especially on land," Lance praised as she fired off one Ice Beam after another in a rapid barrage, each one casually dodged by Dragonite, "But I'm afraid she's just too slow for my Dragonite. Thunder Punch."

On that I agree.

But he fell for the bait once more.

Dragonite flipped over an Ice Beam and angled itself facing downwards, before kicking off the air itself with its powerful legs, creating a shockwave of pure force from the motion and rapidly beat its wings.

The sky itself rumbled from the speed it went and lightning sparked into existence around its fists.

It was upon Milotic in a single breath delivering a massive thunder punch straight to her face and smashing her into the ground with all the force of a missile.

There was still so much I needed to teach Milotic. Attract, Confuse Ray, Toxic, Mirror Coat, Protect and more.

But, just because she was lacking in some areas, didn't mean she lacking in every single one. In fact, for most, she was well above board.

Especially in grit.

And her Marvel Scale ability helped for sure. Like quite a few abilities, it was different in this world. Not massively different, but still different. Marvel Scale as an ability here didn't need a status effect to work, and simply made her scales much more resistant to physical blows.

Between her grit, her ability and the Aqua Ring, it was enough for her to hang on and not get immediately destroyed by the Thunder Punch attack delivered by Lance's Dragonite.

As Milotic's head was buried in the ground, her serpentine tail lashed out and wrapped around Dragonite's body and pulled with all her might.

Dragonite barely budged at all.

But that was fine.

Because it hoisted her own massive body up with she wrapped around Dragonite's body in the blink of an eye.

Her face was bloody and bruised, but the nasty defiant glare she gave Dragonite was a thing of beauty.

"Hypnosis!" I practically roared.

Her eyes lit up with an ominous crimson glow at the same time Dragonite opened its mouth and unleashed a massive beam of multi-coloured light that blotted Milotic's head from view.

But I just managed to catch a glimpse of rings of red power sweeping across Dragonite's head, before its eyes slipped shut and it fell backwards landing on its back and snoring away.

While Milotic collapsed right next to it as the Dragon Pulse attack by my reckoning was cut off.

Fuck.

I lifted her pokeball to return her. I wasn't expecting Dragonite to immediately set off such a massive attack in reply, and it cut my plan short bu-

The upper half of Milotic's body rose up to my surprise, beaten, bloody and scorched but still conscious and she gave a beautiful trill, her body lighting up with energy and the wounds upon her scales began to recede.

Recover!

"That'a girl!" I whooped and praised her, clapping my hands together and punching my fist into the air, "Now Dragon Breath, hit it with everything you have and don't let up!"

"Awaken Dragonite, listen to my voice!" Lance shouted at the same time in counter and I saw Dragonite jerk a little, a snore turning into a snort.

Fucking hell!

But Milotic wasted no time either and opened her mouth wide, unleashing a torrent of green and yellow flames that swept over Dragonite's body and didn't let up for even a microsecond.

Some might call me stupid. They'd probably whine about Ice Beam being four times effective against a Dragonite and a stronger attack in general than Dragon Breath.

But I know all that.

I'm aiming to weaken Dragonite's physical abilities though, not just its health. And I didn't have much time. And freezing it was just a matter of it having enough strength to break free if it could resist the cold temperatures.

I don't doubt it can so paralysis is my best bet.

"DRAGONITE!" Lance raised his voice for perhaps the first time, and a moment later, a massive orange body rose up between the draconic flames of green and yellow.

Milotic only had all of five seconds to attack in the entire time it was asleep.

Dragonite's massive fist lashed out and grabbed Milotic above the end with bone crunching force. I saw her wince, but she didn't stop attacking.

In fact, she opened her mouth even wider with a snarl and the gout of green and yellow flames increased in size, washing over Dragonite's face and blotting its upper torso from view.

A sparking fist shot out from the flames and delivered a brutal lightning clad punch straight to Milotic's face.

Yet she did not stop.

Another struck her.

Then another.

And another.

It was only thanks to Aqua Ring constantly healing her, that Milotic was able to keep it up.

A battle of willpower erupted with Dragonite brutally hammering Milotic's face in with a barrage of Thunder Punch attacks and Milotic refusing to falter and roaring forth a wave of draconic flames and refused to let them sputter out.

Dragonite wound up for another punch, and my eyes widened as it froze in spot unable to move.

Yes!

Its grip went limp and Milotic jerked her head free-

"Ice Beam!" I shouted.

The flames cut off and were immediately replaced by a trio of jagged icy lances that slammed into Dragonite's face and tore it off its feet.

It was immobile for all of one second, but it was enough to deal some damage. Even if I knew that its Multi-Scale ability would provide it way for resistance than a normal flying and dragon type would have to it.

Just like my own.

It was up within moments a howl tearing from its throat as it ascended high into the air and escaped the Ice Beam attack.

But I noticed something. It was slower than it was before.

"Good job, now Dragon Rush my fr-" Lance began saying, a wide grin upon his face.

But before he could finish, I cut him off.

"I'm forfeiting Milotic." I said loudly.

Dozens of heads snapped to me at the declaration. The crowd watching us, the Dragonite above, Lance and even Milotic herself.

"Miloo!" she shook her head at me, giving me a pleading look.

"Now now girl," I pointed at her, "You've done more than enough, way beyond my expectations even. It's time to take a rest."

She pouted at me.

"You're beaten up enough, come here." I ordered her.

And as always, she was dutiful to my orders and made her way over to me. She hung her head down to look at me when she reached me, and I reached up to wipe off the blood staining her face, "It's all good love, you did everything I needed you to and more, and you can take a rest now," I said, stroking her cheek gently, "Leave the rest up to the others."

Milotic pouted a bit more, but nodded nonetheless.

"Good girl, thanks for your hard work you did amazing." I praised her as I returned her to her pokeball.

"You know, I'm not sure how to feel about that," Lance scratched the back of his head, "On one hand, I'm impressed at you forfeiting for her before she got hurt anymore, on the other, that was a great battle, that Milotic of yours sure surprised me with her durability and tenacity."

"She couldn't keep it up much longer, and we caught you by surprise again, there was no way she was managing to get any more hits in now you've seen our trick, she's not ready yet," I shrugged, "I didn't see any point in keeping her in just to get hurt more."

"Smart, but some might say you simply don't believe in her enough." Lance pointed out and countered me, "Though I'm honestly impressed, I wasn't expecting you to employ the very same method with Milotic as you did your Dragonite, it's simply not something you'd expect from one."

"Like I said, she works very hard," I snorted, "People can say whatever the hell they want, but do I believe in her, one day she'll be well capable of taking any of your pokemon on one on one without any gimmicks and winning handily, right now though, we're still newbs."

This battle more than anything else, has pointed that out. A Dragon Rush to the face, a barrage of thunder punches, put to sleep and bathed in a constant stream of super effective draconic flames and even hit with a full powered Ice Beam.
And Lance's Dragonite is still raring to go.

We've still got a ways to go.

"It really does speak well of you that you know your limits, yet at the same time hold such a confidence in your path," Lance mused aloud, "I think I really do like you kid."

I blinked.

"I'm not into dudes." I replied on reflex.

"I'm well aware, it was only a few minutes ago you were telling me of your lover after all," Lance just laughed it off, "Still, Aerodactyl, Dragonite and Milotic huh? You've done incredible so far and gotten me truly excited for a battle in the first time for a while now, I'm eager to see who you bring out next."

Fun fact about this world. Unlike the games, a pokemon could be hit with multiple status conditions at once.

"Well, I won't keep you waiting then," I snorted and put Milotic's pokeball back on my belt before grabbing another, "Come on out, Fearow!"

In a burst of light, the second of my two super try hard birds appeared, spreading his huge wings out proudly and unleashing a challenging bark at the Dragonite high in the air, "Feaaaarow!"

And thus we return with the big hefty throbbing threeeee pee wee dee to the seven weven given heaven? Otherwise known as chapter 37 my good ol buddy old pals.

So for the first half of this chapter we got a PoV from Chloe and saw things from her point of view and found it some interesting things. Yes indeed, Goh is no longer a trainer. I decided to try and reclaim my love for pokemon a bit more, I had to pettily deal with one of the biggest sources of of hate I have for it now. As such, I had to pettily deal with him and fuck him over. We even get to see a little bit of Delia while Chloe gives us her thoughts.

The battle itself, is massively uphill and Lance isn't really taking it too seriously, he's not fully on alert like he would be against a true high level opponent and the mc is taking advantage of that to chip Dragonite down bit by bit. But even then, Dragonite has absolutely manhandled Aerodactyl, Dragonite and Milotic so far.

But even with Milotic down, here comes one of the 'big threee' Try Hard Birb 2 The Try Harderer has exploded onto the scene and about to fuck shit up, or at least attempt to. So yeah, look forward to that next chapter. A few will probably be angry it's dragging on, but I decided to dedicate quite a few chapters to the Lance battle, it's a pretty big thing after all.

Welp beyond that, if you guys want to read ahead, there's a bit more for this and other stories written in advance on the Pa-atreon.

Anyway, shameless Pa-atreon plug. I've got one, go by the same username on there, easy to find and all that jazz. Support me if you want, it'd be swell, but don't feel pressured lads and ladies, I'll be uploading my stuff outside it regardless and not keeping it all behind a paywall or anything like that.
