The utter shock of his Dragonite falling, was almost palpable in the air. Jaws opening and closing, failing to find words, eyes so wide they looked like they were almost popping out of their sockets.

And more.

Good.

Lance resisted the urge to smirk even as he recalled his Dragonite while his young opponent whooped and hollered happily as he brought back that incredibly impressive Fearow of his.

It was a victory well earned.

Albeit, one that would have been impossible for the young boy to claim as he and his pokemon were right now, if he and Dragonite had taken them seriously from the start.

It was not a thought to cover any embarrassment from losing a pokemon to a child so young, or anything overly prideful like that, but simply fact.

That did not make it any less impressive in Lance's own eyes. He had a good feel for young Jord, going by the rough trainer profile they had documented of him personality wise and his actions up to this point, and from what he'd gleamed from the boy in the small time they'd spent together up to this point today.

There was a fire to the boy, alongside a cockiness and self assured gait that reminded Lance a bit of himself when he was just starting out, at a similar age as Jord too. Though, while he'd definitely took advantage early on of the popularity he'd garnered when he was younger and foolisher, especially with the opposite sex, he'd definitely not had quite the…grandiose way of going about it Jord did.

Albeit, while he had started out on his journey at thirteen, he'd been training under the masters of the Blackthorn dragon clan, the Wataru since he was but a toddler.

Jord did not have that same backing he did, yet Lance could admit wholeheartedly, that at the same age, he would have been crushed in a battle.

He wasn't quite sure how the boy had gotten to this point, with all the rare and powerful pokemon he'd gotten his hands on, except that he was sure the boy didn't just stumble upon them.

'Perhaps he's a powerful clairvoyant?' Lance mused idly. Clairvoyance was one of the psychic powers humans tended to have the least talent for, and very few came to mind who could drudge up anything worthwhile with the ability, like Olympia the gym leader of Anistair City in the Kalos Region.

It seemed unlikely, but was not impossible.

Honestly, Lance did not really care how the young boy had managed to get to this point. Others might have been suspicious, fearing a threat or just plain envious of the boys success and wanting to share in the pie or drag him down.

Lance was just pure excited to see the kind of heights Jord would reach in the future. And, he wanted to nurture that potential. Which was why he and Dragonite did not go all out to begin with and gave the boy and his pokemon a chance to show off and spread his name.

'Not to mention, with all those rare pokemon, he'll be a target.' Lance mused. That was, unless all those deplorable fools out there saw what he was capable of and thought his strength was too much of a risk to take on for the massive reward.
And he did not disappoint. The physical ability of his pokemon alone was through the roof, though their power did not quite match their physical abilities, but that would come with time and age. Beyond that though, was the sheer courage Jord's pokemon had and the trust they had in him, obeying his orders without hesitation even in the face of his Dragonite that could crush buildings with a swing of his arm.

Give the boy and his pokemon a few years, and they would be true monsters of battle. Lance almost shivered in excitement at the thought.

"Are you ready Jord?" Lance called over as he traded Dragonite's pokeball for another on his belt, a grin on his face that he simply could not contain, "My next pokemon is much stronger than Dragonite." he warned.

There was some that may have admonished him for outright declaring one of his pokemon stronger than the other. But all pokemon were different, where some would have felt admonished themselves for having such a thing said, or become depressed, dragon types were in general a whole other ball game.

Power and strength was the very birth right of pokemon of the dragon type and those with dragon traits. It was their very instinct to seek power and strength, and there was no better instigator for them to grow to new heights than being compared to another and being found lacking.

This battle alone, would for sure push Dragonite to all new heights of strength from seeing that it was not just those above him he would have to worry about, but fear those below like Jord's own Dragonite and Milotic and Fearow chasing after him and possibly surpassing him.

"If I wasn't would it change anything?" Jord called back, raising an eyebrow at him, switching Fearow's pokeball with one of the other eleven on his belt.

Lance merely continued grinning and did not say a word in reply.

"Didn't think so." the boy snorted, enlarging the pokeball in his hand.

Lance did the same, and then both of them unleashed their next pokemon at the exact same time.

A towering Charizard burst onto the field in front of Jord, spreading a pair of massive wings and unleashing a powerful roar that generated enough wind to ruffle Lance's hair from over fifty feet away.

Impressive.

A trio of snarling aggressive roars formed into a cacophony in front of Lance himself though in reply as his Hydreigon appeared in a burst of bright to face off against Charizard.

Quite a few in the watching crowd released cries of shock and fear at his choice of pokemon. And Lance couldn't blame them, Hydreigon's savage eyes filled with a snarling lust for violence and battle, and his trio of roaring, snarling mouths could be quite terrifying.

"Hydreigon, huh?" Jord audibly clicked his tongue, arms crossing across his chest. There was a wariness in his eyes, but no fear.

And his Charizard, did not back down at all, just like him. It stared down his snarling Hydreigon, with an aggressive growl on its lips and fire in its eyes.

Good, good.

It wouldn't do for him and his pokemon to be intimidated by a mere Hydreigon. Granted, his Hydreigon was no…mere Hydreigon and the difference in power between this Hydreigon and the Dragonite he led with-

Was larger than the difference between Jord's own Dragonite and his.

"Hydreigon, Dragon Pulse!" Lance decided to start things off with this round. He wanted to push and see more of Jord and his pokemons abilities when backed into a corner.

A savage howl was released from Hydreigon's trio of heads, multicoloured light exploding into existence in his trio of maws, before unleashing a three piece set of gargantuan multi-coloured beams of pure destruction that formed into a trio of titanic roaring dragon maws of pure power.

One on the right, one on the left.

And one straight down the middle.

And with their sheer size and speed, it cut off any avenue for Charizard to escape between them.

They hit nothing.

When the trio of monolithic beams of power passed by and harmless flew off into the sky in the distance with nothing to show for it, it was to reveal a large hole in the ground.

'Dig, huh?' Lance grinned.

A classic.

Though impressive it could find the time and room to dig such a hole in the face of Hydreigon's attacks.

And going by what he'd seen of Jord so far-

"LR, protect, M, hydro hump." Lance ordered.

The right and left heads of Hydreigon roared, both conjuring a double layered green spherical barrier around his body.
Just in time for the ground beneath Hydreigon to buckle and burst open and a familiar orange scaled winged beast to shoot forth, both arms clad in claws of pure draconic energy.

And a familiar aura of power suffusing around Charizard's body.

'He used Dragon Dance to enhance Charizard's speed and strength to dig faster.' Lance nodded approvingly as the twin Dragon Claw attacked smashed into Hydreigon's twin protect.

A sound like a gong being struck rung out, and the first barrier rippled noticeably under the blow, but that was all.
And Hydreigon was already prepared to counter.

The twin barriers dropped and Hydreigon's main head unleashed a massive spiralling gout of pressurized water point blank at the Charizard.

Only to miss…as Charizard went limp and rolled downwards back into the hole it had previously made.

"Swords Dance, then again!" Jord shouted.

A moment later, Charizard burst back out of the hole, the green aura of Dragon Dance around its body, being infused with a crackling red piercing through it almost like electricity, arms infused once more with twin Dragon Claw attacks.

Enhancing the attack even further huh?

"Surf." Lance commanded simply. The tactic to dodge back into the dig hole was good for sure, but what would he do in the face of an attack so wide and encompassing such a thing wasn't viable?

What would he do in the face of an attack like that, three times over?

A trio of glittering blue spheres of hydro energy formed in Hydreigon's three mouths, before erupting and bursting forth.
A trio of titanic waves, one alone enough to create a fifty feet high and fifty feet wide tsunami, formed into one monstrous wave of all encompassing crushing water.

"BLA-"

He heard Jord begin to shout, before it was drowned out by the roaring monstrous wave, blotting him and Charizard both from sight.

Lance felt the ground shake ominously beneath him as if an earthquake had begun and sweat began to form on his brow as a sudden, roaring heat made itself known.

Bright orange light flashed, shimmering up through the wave before a massive explosion erupted and blew the entirety of the massive wave of water away.

Lance blinked as the entirety of the massively cratered battlefield came back into view.

Steam sizzled from the battlefield into the air, and he found the Charizard down on one knee, one hand clenched into a fist and buried deep in the battlefield itself.

"Oh-ho?" Lance's lips curved into a grin, "Blast Burn huh, that's really impressive."

Not only was it impressive that Jord's Charizard was already capable of using the penultimate fire type attack, but that quick thinking to use it to blow away the convergent trio of surf attacks and actually have the power capable of doing so.
it was all just impressive, very very impressive.

Though, looking at the Charizard, the aura of dragon dance and swords dance now gone, and noticeably exhausted, it did not come without a price.

Despite its impressive size, that Charizard was still so very young, just like its trainer.

He'd like to see what more it was capable of, but now wasn't the time to give them the chance to recover, it was the time to push them further and back them even further into a corner and see how they replied.

"Charge Beam, go." Lance ordered.

Hydreigon wasted not a single moment, trio of maws opening and three crackling bright yellow spheres forming in them.
Before unleashing them in a trio of massive yellow electrical beams that converged into one titanic beam of pure electrical power.

"Ground it!" Jord shouted over the roaring beam of yellow power.

Lance watched in interest as the exhausted Charizard forced itself up, claws gleaming silver alongside its tail and thrust both arms out to catch the electrical beam head on, at the same time it thrust its tail down into the ground itself.

And he still watched as the beam of power slammed into Charizard, and did absolutely nothing, it barely even winced as the attack washed over it.

'That's second time he's done that this battle.' Lance blinked. Specifically to electric attacks too.

He wondered how that worked?

He put it out of mind though as he noticed an electrical current form of Hydreigon's body. Perfect, he'd gotten the power boost that Charge Beam could provide.

Twice by his reckoning going by how thick the voltage was.

Charge Beam was perfect for Hydreigon. Each usage had a rather large chance for temporarily enhancing the users power. And Hydreigon could fire three at once, giving three chances at once for the boost.

Now then, what would Jord and Charizard do now? Four times now he and his Charizard had managed to overcome attacks that should he ended the battle right then and there.

What would they do now in the face of Hydreigon with his power boosted twice over from Charge Beam?

"Left, shock wave. Right, Surf. Main, Draco Meteor." Lance grinned as he upped the ante.

An attack that would follow Charizard no matter how fast or much it dodged, a massive wide ranged attack, cutting off any avenue forward and a rain of meteors from above.

Even if he tried to Dig again, the Surf attack would just be drained into the hole and follow it.

"Rush it! Quick Attack, Dragon Dance!" Jord hurriedly ordered in reply.

To his credit, he was very quick on the ball. He already knew there was no chance of dodging here, and Charizard obviously didn't have a move to defend here like Protect, though even if it did, it would have been futile.

With a beat of its huge wings and thrusting itself forward with its tail buried in the ground, the Charizard burst forward at blurring speeds, an explosion of white power erupting from its body at the same time a familiar green aura suffused its body.

It was a very, very impressive speed.

It was just too bad the level difference between his Hydreigon and Charizard, was just so vast.

Before Charizard even cleared half the distance towards Hydreigon, it unleashed its attacks.

A massive blue bolt of power erupted from the left head, while a familiar sphere of hydro power erupted outwards from the right forming into a wave almost double the size and width just one of his previous Surf attacks were.

While a massive orange spere of burning draconic power shot up and out of Hydreigon's middle head and ascended high into the air, swelling in size until it was fifty feet wide, before bursting apart and raining down in a rain of glowing orange meteors, all swerving down towards Charizard.

One of the meteors slammed into Charizard's right wing and exploded. Charizard roared in pain and slammed into the ground, the momentum it had built up forcing it into a roll, dragging its scales roughly across the ground.

It wasn't even down for a blink of an eye before it was up with a roar, but by then it was too late.

The Shock Wave burst forward at blinding speeds and was in its face before it could-

Lance's eyes widened as Charizard's mouth opened and a massive gout of heat exploded outwards meeting the Shock Wave attack head on.

They converged together as they met, swelled up, and exploded.

Charizard was blasted back like a rag doll, bouncing across the battle field like a stone being skipped across the surface of a lake.

'Amazing!' Lance's eyes shone with glee. Such determination! He could feel the blood beginning to pound in his ears, feel his heart beat begin to thunder in his breast.

Barring that Aerodactyl he'd just caught, how did Jord install such determination, such loyalty, such raw refusal to give up in his pokemon?

With the distance Charizard had gained from being thrown back, it avoided the Draco Meteor that had been aimed specifically for where Charizard was rushing.

All that was left, was the Surf attack rushing forward.

But…seeing Charizard weakly trying to push itself up, it was enough.

Or so Lance thought.

"Let's go, Charizard!" Jord's shout was not a counter, or anything close. It was simple encouragement.

A gleam entered Charizard's eyes at the voice of its trainer, and a roaring snarl erupted from its own maw. Lance blinked as a shimmering orange aura of power shimmered into existence around its body and it pushed itself to its feet once more.

"Blaze…huh?" Lance laughed lightly.

"Flamethrower!" Jord punched a fist out towards Lance himself in sheer defiance.

That was it! Yes, this was the kind of person he liked best! To Jord and his pokemon it didn't matter what opponent was in front of them, how overwhelming powerful they were or how big the mountain they had to ascend and overcome was.
They would charge it head on without hesitation!

'Just like us!' Lance laughed inwardly as Charizard's head reared back, red hot flames forming in its maw, before thrusting its head forward and unleashing a massive compressed torrent of flames that could have given one of Hydreigon's dragon pulse beams a run for its money!

The sheer force and heat behind it tore straight through the Surf attack, outright obliterating it and roaring forth towards Hydreigon!

If that was how it was, then Lance wasn't going to back down either. if Jord and Charizard were coming at them full force head on with all their power right here and now, then he and Hydreigon would reciprocate in kind!

"Hyper Beam!" Lance punched his own fist out, mirroring his young opponent.

Hydreigon's trio of heads snarled as one, three pitch black crackling orbs of energy forming in their own maws, before being unleashing a moment later in a trio of massive pitch black beams of pure destructive power.

That then converged together into one titanic, monumental colossal beam of ruination!

Blaze enhanced flamethrower smashed into the convergent Hyper Beam and the sheer force behind their collision, created a shock wave so powerful Lance himself felt himself get pushed back a few steps and even heard screams of shock and fear from those watching even over the roar of the attacks colliding, a circular crater forming under the attacks.

Despite the size difference between them, the blaze enhanced flamethrower held steady in the collision for an impressive two full seconds before the combined Hyper Beam pushed it back and began to steadily overpower it.

Bit by bit, split moment by split moment, the massive gout of flame was pushed back until it was all but dwarfed by the pitch black beam of destruction.

Yet, Charizard did not give in, did not falter and fall.

"Full power Charizard, give it everything you've got!" Lance blinked as he heard Jord's voice roar over the colliding attacks.

He couldn't even see the boy over the massive attacks clashing against each other, he could barely even make out the Charizard.

Charizard's wings flared out mightily, the orange blazing aura around its body roiling like a thrashing wave as it increased with a burning intensity-

And then the white hot flamethrower expanded massively with all the intensity of a supernova, with all the raging brilliance of a dying rebellious star that refused to go quietly into the night.

The massive black beam of ruin was suddenly pushed back massively, Charizard's roar of defiance echoing through the air.
Lance grinned, "Let's give it our all as well then Hydreigon!" the master of the dragon type and champion of two regions declared, "Nasty Plot!"

A crackling aura of pure pitch black power howled into existence around Hydreigon at his order, his already enhanced power rising even further beyond.

And with a roar, the trio of heads using their Hyper Beam, unleashed their enhanced power.

The pitch black beam of power swelled to sizes beyond scope, increasing easily twice over.

And pushed back with monstrous power against the massively blaze enhanced flamethrower, tearing through it with all the power of a raging force of nature, destruction incarnate itself.

The flamethrower was overwhelmed within moments, pushed to the very brink until all that was lift was struggling embers that refused to die-

Before they too were consumed by the beam of pitch black destruction and it washed over Charizard who thrust both claws out to meet it head on as one last feeble resistance.

And then the beam itself having met its target, erupted into a monstrous explosion that dyed the world black for an instant, blotting out the sun itself.

There was silence across the battlefield as it dyed away, only broken by the sound of reigning debris falling from the sky and slamming into the ground.

And when the smoke cleared, it was to show Charizard-

Still standing?!

Lance's eyes widened in utter shock and a howl of excited glee erupted from Hydreigon's three mouths.

Beaten and bloodied, scales marred with wounds from head to toe, the Charizard glared towards Hydreigon with bright defiant slitted green eyes.

And took one step forward, right arm coming out, claws gleaming with shimmering green draconic power-

Before Charizard's eyes promptly rolled into the back of its head and it fell face forward towards the ground.

Yet, its face never made contact with the ground as a familiar red light swept over Charizard's body and it disappeared.
Revealing Jord, pokeball in his hand, having returned the pokemon before it could fall.

And a smile on his face despite the fact that from start to finish, Charizard had been completely overwhelmed.

That Hydreigon, is a fucking monster.

I stared down at the pokeball in my palm, containing the pokemon who'd just faced off against Lance's Hydreigon and been completely overpowered. In the grand scheme of things, Charizard had only been able to put up a token resistance and never even landed a single attack.

Yet I couldn't have been prouder. Charizard might not have been able to do anything to Hydreigon in the end, but my boy smashed through attack after attack of that monstrous beasts, and even held his own briefly in a full of clash of attacks and completely exceeded my expectations.

Nobody in their right minds, could call Charizard weak. I hope that scrub loser Cross was watching and see's the amazing pokemon he gave up because he is simply too much of a loser ass scrub beta soy boy bitch to have drawn out even a fraction of my beastly Charizard's potential.

"Amazing work mate." I praised the pokemon within the pokeball quietly, before placing his pokemon on my belt, and grabbing the very first pokeball atop said belt after to replace it.

Time to go for broke.

How do we beat this monster? I have no earthly fucking idea. Pidgeot has no good attacks for this thing, beyond maybe turning its own dragon type attacks against it with Mirror Move.

That isn't even getting into the craziest thing about this Hydreigon. Each of its three separate heads, is capable of using attacks. Stacking three of the same attack at once for one gargantuan overpowered version, or using different attacks.

Fucking hell I wouldn't be surprised if one head can use Rest to heal up while the other two stay awake, and at the same time have them buff with moves like Dragon Dance or Nasty Plot, while the last protects it with barrier attacks like Protect and such.

I wonder, is that kind of thing possible for other pokemon with multiple heads? Like Dodrio…or Exeggutor perhaps?

Exeggutor might not have the kind of move pool to draw from a Hydreigon has, but it still isn't too shabby. I could have one throw up a Sunny Day while having Chlorophyll as an ability to enhance its speed, one head to teleport and protect, another to heal and buff with sun enhanced synthesis and shit and then have the last firing off instant solarbeams and more.

'Thoughts for later.' I shook my head, turning my attention to the battlefield, my eyes glancing at the absolutely huge Hydreigon that was easily twice the size of what was listed in the pokedex I'd grown up with, then over to Lance who was waiting for me, a massive grin on his face.

He was actually enjoying this battle, huh?

Well, far be it from me to let him down then, right? Besides, this battle isn't at all about winning. Don't get me wrong, the fact we managed to take down his weakest Dragonite is incredible, beyond words.

But in the end, this is all about showing my and my pokemons worth here and now.

And who better to do that, than the biggest try hard of them all?

"Let's go, Pidgeot!" I shouted, pressing the button in the middle of the pokeball held within my palm and releasing my starter pokemon from within.

In a bright flash of light, Pidgeot burst onto the field and spread his massive wings out wide and proud, "GEEEOOOT!" he barked loudly straight at the Hydreigon in challenge.

In response, the dark almost glowing trio of eyes belonging to the Hydreigon lit up with an almost palpable excitement and the huge three headed dragon unleashed a trio of deafening, heart shaking roars right back.

Six dark draconian eyes glared into sharp avian ones and a pressure settled over the battlefield, and made my heart thunder in my chest.

"Pidgeot, huh?" Lance in contrast barely seemed to pay it any attention, "And what a big one it is. This is your starter pokemon isn't it?"

I swallowed, pushing down and smothering the emotions Pidgeot and Hydreigon's glare off invoked in me, "That he is," I forced a smirk onto my face, "And my strongest by far."

Albeit, Pidgeot has one of the least expansive move sets amongst my pokemon. I should really work on that, huh?

"Then this should be a really good battle then!" Lance laughed, "All of your pokemon so far have gone above and beyond my expectations, so I'm expecting quite the match from your undisputed strongest!"

"Then we won't disappoint," I laughed back, which reminds me, "Pidgeot, Mirror Move!" I quickly ordered, taking advantage before he could use another attack with Hydreigon.

After all, the last attack he called for, was not Hyper Beam.

"Geot!" Pidgeot barked, flapping his wings and nodding, his eyes lighting up with a bright silver power.

And then an aura of darkness, the exact same as the one currently coating Hydreigon's body flared into existence around Pidgeot as he copied Nasty Plot and boosted his special attack power.

Of course, Pidgeot didn't actually know any attacks right now that the boost would be good for. But again, Mirror Move is key for this purpose.

"Oh, sneaky," Lance laughed, "Let's try this then shall we? Shock Wave, separate."

Hydreigon's trio of maws opened wide, crackling blue electricity buzzing into existence in each mouth before firing off in a trio of crackling massive bolts of sizzling power towards Pidgeot.

Was he testing to see if Pidgeot could cancel out electric attacks like my other pokemon he'd seen do it so far?

Alright then.

"Pidgeot, quick attack straight up!" I quickly ordered, and in a split moment, my try hard birb exploded upwards with a powerful beat of his wings, soaring high into the sky, a trail of burning white power trailing from his body, "Now rush it with Wing Attack!" I added as the trio of huge electric blue bolts swiftly changed direction and chased Pidgeot into the air.

Time to pull a Goku.

And Lance, you are the Frieza for this little roleplay game of mine.

Pidgeot shot down like a speeding bullet, so fast I could only make out a bit of a blur as he swerved down avoiding the shock wave attacks and rocketed towards Hydreigon with glowing white wings, the trio of electrical bolts quickly turning to chase him once more.

"Dragon Pulse." Lance simply countered the second Pidgeot was within point blank range.

"Spin right!" I shouted in a hurry, already prepared. After all, I didn't think for a second that Lance would be taken off guard just by something leading Shock Wave back to his pokemon.

Wing Attack was not for attacking, it was strengthening Pidgeot's wing strength for a brief moment.

Pidgeot beat both off his wings against the air with all his might and threw himself to the side, using all the momentum he'd built up with his quick attack enhanced flight speed.

At the same time he did that, all three of Hydreigon's mouths opened up, orbs of rainbow light energy forming into swirling spheres of power, before erupting into a trio of multi coloured beams that conjoined into one massive one, forming into the shape of a huge leviathanic serpentine dragon.

And missed Pidgeot completely.

But not the trio of crackling massive blue bolts of electricity that met it head on. they smashed into each other, swelling together, before erupting in a massive explosion of electrical and draconic power that washed over the Hydreigon at near point blank range.

Pidgeot unfortunately didn't escape the massive collision of attacks unscathed, the size of the explosion sweeping over his body briefly before he burst out of the side, his feathers scorched slightly.

But my number one try hard bird wouldn't go down to just that much after all.

And now is the perfect chance to take advantage of that copied Nasty Plot buff.

"Mirror Move!" I punched my fist out with a whoop!

"GEOT!" Pidgeot flared his wings out stopping himself mid air and opened his beak wide open, a familiar sphere of multi coloured energy swirling into existence within it, before he thrust his head forward, handsome stylish plumage swaying powerfully in the gale force winds being generated by the huge explosion caused by Hydreigon's attacks, and unleashed the attack in the form of a large serpentine dragon of pure rainbow coloured energy straight towards Hydreigon's previous position.

The roaring dragon of energy soared forth into the explosion and a moment later the area thundered with another explosion as the Dragon Pulse attack hit its target and detonated with world shaking force!

And then we waited with baited breath for the massive smoke from the explosion kicked up by the multiple hugely powerful attacks to dissipate.

Just before it made contact though, the middle head of the Hydreigon growled, eyes flashing green and then a green spherical barrier swarmed into existence around its body, just in time for the Dragon Pulse to smash into it, and wash over it like a wave against a cliff side.

"Rest and Roost," Lance ordered, crossing his arms and the grin on his face having only widened as the left head of Hydreigon dipped down further and fell asleep, while the right rose up with a snarl, a familiar energy colour washing over its body, the same I'd seen Pidgeot, Fearow and such use multiple times, "That was quite the tactic, not many would think to try and use shock wave against the user instead of blocking it or attacking it to destroy it, if they even knew it followed in the first place and didn't just try to dodge, but you even predicted that leading it back to Hydreigon alone wouldn't be enough and baited us into attacking, huh? Your battle instincts and strategy are incredible."

Shit. I should have expected Lance would be more Cooler than Frieza. He wasn't a shithead dumbass that relied on his natural abilities and heritage to get where he is alone after all.

And beyond that, Hydreigon could stack fucking healing moves? Are you fucking kidding me? That's bullshit!

"Quick Attack into Wing Attack!" I ignored him and quickly ordered, "Smash that barrier open!"

With the injuries Hydreigon had, and expending all that crazy amount of energy it had at this point, no way it could keep it up for long right? If we just hammer it down quick enough, we'll win this!

"Pidgeot!" Pidgeot barked out a battle cry and shot forward so fast with a beat of his wings I heard the sound barrier shatter around him, and the earth itself rumbled as he was upon protect barrier an instant later smashing both wing attack enhanced wings into it with all his power.

A sound like a gong being struck with a gigantic hammer rung out and thundered in my ears and the barrier rippled noticeably from the impact.

And then Pidgeot's wings moved as a blur as he hammered the barrier over and over again at bullet like speeds with a barrage of wing attacks.

'I really need to teach some pokemon feint for this protect bullshit!' I growled inwardly, fists clenching.

I know this isn't about winning, but this is bullshit, we had this! Or we would have if our opponent wasn't a bullshit more or less shonen protagonist pokemon champion!

I should have fucking remembered that from the beginning. Every single champion may as well have been a shonen protagonist already having completed their initial story.

Which meant, I should never even give them a chance to to recuperate, because somehow, someway, they'd pull bullshit like this out of their asses!

This is a good reminder for next time I battle Ash or something though!

Pidgeot's blows sounded like a machine gun turret going off from the rapid fire blows against the protect barrier-

And within just a few seconds, a sound like shattering glass rang out as the protect barrier broke under Pidgeot's rapid fire wing attacks!

"NOW!" I roared.

"GEOT!" Pidgeot roared back in compliance, both wings swinging down at Hydreigon like a pair of glowing guillotine blades.

Only, just as he was about to make contact, both the smaller heads of Hydreigon rose up and my eyes widened as a familiar pair of crackling yellow orbs of electricity came into view.

The Rest head was awake already!?

Twin beams of yellow electricity erupted and slammed into Pidgeot before he could make contact and my massive try hard bird shrieked in pain as the beams smashed him high into the air all the while electrocuting him, all the while he struggled against them with all his might.

Because my try hard bird wouldn't go down so easily!

"Spite!" Lance quickly ordered, and the main heads eyes glowed with crimson red energy that shot out in a pair of twin laser like beams and washed over Pidgeot as well.

And I watched as Pidgeot…went limp?

What….?

I watched bleakly as the twin Charge Beam attacks dissipated after a few moments and Pidgeot dropped from over fifty feet in the air to crash into the ground, hard.

What the fuck was that? Spite was supposed to get rid of an attacks move PP, so what the fuck did it do-

My eyes widened, "Spite drains stamina?!" I gaped in realisation as Pidgeot shakily began pushing himself up on both wings, panting in pure exhaustion, not pain.

I know the difference when it comes to Pidgeot after all. I'm well aware of his exhausted expressions at this point.

"First time running into it I see," Lance mused with a nod, "Well, you're still so very young and only just really started, it's obvious you won't have come across everything yet. But yes, you're right on the money Jord, Spite is a handy little technique that massively drains the stamina of the target."

"But wait," I shook my head, "That doesn't explain how one of the heads of your Hydreigon woke up so quickly!"

"Oh, that? That's just a little trick of mine," Lance laughed, "Hydreigon knows the attack Uproar. You probably didn't notice, but when Hydreigon's right head dipped back down and looked like it was resting, it actually was using a low powered version of Uproar to wake the other head up."

…And Uproar had a few effects when used, one of them being waking up sleeping targets hit by it. And since Hydreigon had multiple heads and could have one of them resting at a time…

He could basically recycle using Rest and take care of any of the risks that came with using it.

Fuck.

On top of that, between the Roost and Rest combo, Hydreigon was looking pretty much in tip top shape again.

"Now, how about to finish this up, we show something cool?" Lance's grin widened to almost manic proportions, "Lemme ask you Jord, do you know how the attack Payback works?"

I knew how the game version worked.

"It converts damage taken by the user into an attack." I replied evenly, clicking my tongue. I had feeling it wasn't going to be that simple though.

"Mostly right," Lance laughed, "In fact, it converts damage taken over a period of time into power. Even damage that has already been healed. And a fun fact as well, it is amplified by the boost Hydreigon gets from the Charge Beam attacks and Nasty Plot."

So basically…fucking Revenge Counter then?

Hydreigon the Dragon Sin of Wrath up in this bitch, huh?

Pokemon are fucking bullshit man.

I nodded, "Alright, bring it on then, let's see this bag bad attack of yours Mr. Champion, because Pidgeot isn't done yet!"

At my words, Pidgeot shook his head and spread his wings wide once more, "GEOT!" be barked in challenge towards Hydreigon once more.

"Yeah, that's what I've come to expect from you both Jord!" Lance laughed once more, happily, excitedly, "Let's go Hydreigon finish this off with-

"Mirror Move!" I quickly cut him off before he could finish.

Just before he finished and just before Hydreigon took his orders, I threw out mine.

And Pidgeot's eyes glowed with bright silver power.

And then an ominous crimson glow replaced it.

Twin beams of crimson energy erupted from his piercing avian gaze and slammed into Hydreigon while it and Lance were distracted.

A surprised grumbling roar left all three of Hydreigon's heads as Pidgeot began draining its energy with the copied spite.

And a second later, the floating Hydreigon dropped to the ground from exhaustion as its energy was drained by Pidgeot.

'You shouldn't have confirmed spite did that, and you should have just finished us off!' I roared inwardly, a smirk splitting my face.

Because Lance, you might have healed all the damage Hydreigon took. But it didn't recover its energy. And between the battle against Charizard and now Pidgeot, that Hydreigon had fired off a shit load of ultra powerful attacks!

Multiplied by three!

The true weakness of all shonen protagonists, was their need to monologue!

"Keep it up and rush it with Wing Attack!" I quickly ordered. The attack would exhaust Pidgeot to keep up for sure-

Because Mirror Move had one weakness I had discovered over using it since Pidgeot had learned it. It amounted to using two attacks at once.

And with his energy already massively drained, Pidgeot won't be able to keep it up for long!

But we don't need long!

"Geot!" Pidgeot barked and spiked his massive wings through the air, throwing himself into a dash through the air, all the while glaring crimson red beams into Hydreigon's body, draining it, keeping it pinned.

Pidgeot was on it in moments, wings glowing with the power of Wing Attack and slamming them into Hydreigons main head and smashing it into the ground with concrete shattering force.

It barely hit the ground before one of Pidgeot's talon'd feed kicked it in the stomach launching it back up, before Pidgeot headbutted it straight in the main face once more, glaring crimson red beams straight into it-

Before chopping it in the neck with one of his glowing wings, and then thrusting out one of his feet in a rising thrust kick that stabbed his talons into Hydreigon's chest, gouging them into its scales.

"Close Combat!?" Lance shouted in shock.

No, but it did look like that, didn't it?

Pidgeot was a blur of demolishing force, talons clawing into Hydreigon, head smashing into it with bone breaking force, wings glowing with power and crushing its body with each, beak shooting out with steel piercing power.

"I FUCKING TOLD YA! DAT BIRD IS A FRIGGIN MONSTER!" I heard someone shout loudly, they sounded kind of familiar actually, but I couldn't pin them while I was focused on Pidgeot giving it his all.

The blur of attacks lasted for just over five seconds of constant motion, before the red glare erupting from Pidgeot's eyes sputtered out and he lost momentum, tumbling back on his feet, though not before driving Hydreigon into the ground once more with one massive glowing white wing before the power behind it too fizzled out.

Pidgeot's legs trembled and almost gave out, he in fact began falling back, before he thrust both massive wings out, beating against the air itself and forced himself back to his feet.

Pidgeot panted in exhaustion, eyes fluttering with weakness, on the very verge of falling unconscious.

It was taking everything he had left just to keep standing.

Hydreigons main head rose up from where its body lay limp and hissed out a growl of defiance at Pidgeot, before falling limp.

Unable to continue.

"…You're a sly one, huh Jord?" Lance mused aloud, "That was quite the reversal, I have to admit." he said, as he casually returned Hydreigon to its pokeball.

"I'm a great a many things," I agreed, unashamedly, "And the loser of this battle sadly. Pidgeot can still go on of course, but I'm gonna throw in the towel here and now, I know where we stand more or less now." I said, as I lifted Pidgeot's pokeball and returned him to it, letting him rest.

Pidgeot actually has nothing left. But I have to protect his pride as well as his trainer after all. He wasn't backing down from another fight here, I was.

And that was nowhere close to a champion. Me and my pokemon have brought two of Lance's pokemon down, but only because he never once took us seriously and let us strut our stuff.

But, we're on the right path.

And I just showed the entire world that we were.

And here we return with chapter 39, just one off of breaking forty and the battle with Lance finally comes to a close.

It was a pretty long battle and lasted what, three whole chapters? Four maybe? I'd need to check back to be sure, but yeah it took a while. A few probably weren't a fan of that fact, I felt the need the give proper tribute in length to a battle with a champion, the first of the story and give highlight to the MC, his pokemon and the reactions of those watching it live.

As summarised in the story itself, Lance and his pokemon didn't really take the MC seriously all that much at all. If he did, he would have approached the battle entirely differently and very few of the MC's pokemon would have been able to even land a single blow, never mind the amount they did here. Lance allowed him to strut his stuff, both to build a reputation for himself and to see his potential and he wasn't disappointed. Next chapter will be hashing out some more deals and talking to other characters, maybe cucking Goh if we have the time. A good old rousing round of cucking Goh is just what the doctor ordered I think. Fuck Goh, all my homies hate Goh. Anyway as always it'll go in advance on my Pa-atreon for a while before it plops down here for those who wanna read in advance.

Which reminds me, Jordinio Version has its own tv tropes page now, I'd love to see more added to it if peeps are willing lol, it makes my fourth tv tropes page for my stories.

Anyway, shameless Pa-atreon plug. I've got one, go by the same username on there, easy to find and all that jazz. Support me if you want, it'd be swell, but don't feel pressured lads and ladies, I'll be uploading my stuff outside it regardless and not keeping it all behind a paywall or anything like that.
