"Dawn, did they mention if a Slayer was Called after Buffy died closing the portal?" Giles asked.
"Yum, no. No Slayer was Called then or when Buffy was shot and flat lined for a second, no Slayer then either." Dawn shook head, as Joyce dried her tears. "I'm really real?" She asked her hopefully.
"You're really real." Joyce assured her. "I remember being pregnant with you and craving chocolate. It's when I started making hot chocolate from scratch. You're real, baby, don't doubt it, okay."
"So Buffy died three times in that reality, but only once was a new Slayer Called, the first time she died." Dr. Zabuto mused.
"Which means there's still only one Slayer line and it runs through Faith." Diana put her hand on Faith's shoulder. "She's the most recent Slayer Called."
"She's The Slayer." Xander stood up. "The monks told Buffy they made Dawn from The Slayer and sent her to Buffy to protect. Faith was in jail and couldn't protect her. That Dawn, what if she was made from Faith? Magically cloned in some way."
"Than she really isn't a counterpart of our Dawn, is she?" Buffy asked. "Because our Dawn was made from Mom and Dad. But why name her Dawn? It's not a common name."
"But it is a name I always liked and thought I might give a child of mine." Joyce told her. "And if they could plant memories than they'd have to know something about us to build those memories. The more I hear, the more massive a violation it seems."
"Forcing memories into your brain, there could be side effects." Jenny murmured. "The brain tumor might possibly have resulted from it. Whether it's science or Magic, playing with nature is never a good idea."
"My counterpart told me something very disturbing too." Xander told them. "He warned me we shouldn't try it ourselves. They were fighting something that called itself the First Evil, some kind of incorporeal essence of evil. It was killing Potentials and it taunted Buffy, telling her that as long as she lived, all those girls were powerless want to be Slayers. She decided to have Willow activate them all, world-wide. In the six years since, there hasn't been a new Potential born, the line might be dead in that reality."
"Didn't Buffy know that no new Slayers had been Called with her previous deaths?" Giles looked puzzled.
"Yes and so did you, which doesn't explain why you declared it a bloody brilliant plan." Xander answered. "Unless there was more manipulation going on."
"What are the chances we're also being manipulated in some way?" Dr. Zabuto asked. "After all, Buffy met Angel in this reality too. Were they intended to bring about Twilight as well?"
"And Xander as Dr. Strange casting that spell, maybe changed things?" Cordelia suggested. "He wiped out the vampires and shut down a Hellmouth, he proved we can do it without Twilight, which maybe neutralized Twilight."
"I always thought Twilight was a story, nothing more." Dr. Zabuto told them. "But I know many in the Council believe it. In the 1800's there was a Slayer they thought would bring forth Twilight, but it didn't happen. If the story is true than Twilight exists outside time and space and has no counterparts, it needs only one reality to get everything right and be brought forth, at which point it'll destroy that Earth and the Slayer that helps him will rule as an insane goddess over an empty world."
"And according to the Willow that was working with the Power, the one that wanted Xander neutralized and Cordelia to be it's mother," Buffy reminded them. "according to that Willow, it really was the reason Angel and I were brought together. You guys told me that the other me, refused to go along with it. Why would any me think it's a good idea?"
"That last Buffy has fallen pretty far down the rabbit hole." Faith shrugged. "Her own sister said she's basically become a joke, as in not very stable."
"Why?" Buffy asked. "What was wrong with her?"
"As the other Dawn and Xander put it, 'you must be this evil to ride the Buffy'." Cordelia informed her. "She was involved with Spike, non soul having at the time, Spike and he said, she needed a monster in her man. Apparently she somehow thought she could inspire truly evil guys to reform. Her most recent project was a guy who called himself the Immortal. Said immortality coming from trading various parts of virgins on the black market."
"Okay, yeah, sounds like she'd gone around the bend a few times." A shocked Buffy shuddered. "I am so glad I am not that Buffy!"
"You're glad?" Dawn muttered. "The other Dawn refused to even visit her for fear she'd end up one of the virgins on the black market. I'm glad I'm not that Dawn! Plus, you know, I'm real! Well, so is she, but I was born real, not made, which is the kind of real I love being!"
