It wouldn't last…this terrifying overflow of ecstasy. Why bother feeding it?

Gwen just knew this was Death's way of ruining her. She had met the embodiment and boy was she cruel to her identity.

Gwen was the famous name of death so it was so much work trying to fix her complex life. The guilt of losing so many people in her life, by death or betrayal. Being seen as a traitor instead of a murderer was always preferable.

She faced so much and she had barely begun adulthood, she wondered if life was only on this level of unfairness to arachnid masked vigilantes. It isn't always about her, other heroes faced worse trauma.

She had that realization from a couple of individuals, people such as Peter, Miles, Cindy, Jess, and so on. That didn't mean being Ghost Spider was a rainbow.

It was just a huge weight to carry, but she saw good things. Walking to an apartment of a friend of hers and checking if her attire was neat (which was out of character for her), she knocked.

Then the woman opening the door gave her such a compassionate smile. "Gwen! I still can't believe you came to South Korea", Ami hugged her and Gwen felt happy to be so overwhelmed with serotonin. Whenever her fox-themed 'friend' was around her, she struggled to be emotionally distant.

Walking inside, she took in her surroundings. The place was suitable for beautiful women like Ami. "Your place makes my apartment look like a rathole".

"It was actually on brand for you", the Kumiho replied as she guided Gwen to a bedroom. Gwen frowned.

"Gee thanks", she spoke in the tone of someone insulted.

"No! I wasn't saying you belong in a rathole, I meant girls with your aesthetic deserve homes that match your freedom and rebellious nature", Ami said to justify her statement.

"If you say so Femme-Furball", Gwen placed her suitcase on the bed to unpack. Ami just stared intently and Gwen noticed, "What? Is there something on my face?" She asked as she started rubbing.

"No, I'm just finding it hard to believe that under that punk exterior, you are so kawaii looking", Ami gently pinched the blonde's cheeks.

"I'm not cute!" Gwen pouted.

"I'm going to see if the food is done boiling, make yourself comfortable".

Ami checked on her meal and dished up, hoping Gwen liked Bibimbap. Something similar to ordinary Western food but still traditional in her country.

As Gwen walked to the kitchen, she smelt the meaty aroma. Ami dished up and the two sat down at the dining table. Both girls felt awkward silence as typical loners who usually eat by themselves in their apartment.

"I hope you like Bibimbap, it was the only traditional meal I could think of that will make you comfortable to eat", Ami explained. As Gwen spooned a small portion and hummed with delight at the taste.

"This is good, I bet you'd make a good wife someday", she quipped and Ami blushed with her fox tail swaying. She never felt this safe and relaxed in exposing her white hair, fox ears, and white fox tail to another individual for most of her life.

She noticed Gwen had some rice on the corner of her lip and used her finger to swipe it, then Gwen felt like a waterfall as Ami put the rice grains in her mouth. Ami continued eating her meal like the act of intimacy never happened. "So, how is the superhero career going?"

"Well, I punched a car that a lunatic threw at me".

The fox just stared at her as if she didn't expect that random scenario, "Be specific, I'm not an American who deals with dangerously weird circumstances daily".

"Then you should know how much of a paradise Seoul is than New York", Gwen giggled, "A cult of psychos used a laser gun that shoots bombs (whole different story) and it sent a car flying to an old man walking his dog".

"And I can guess that you while fighting the cult, swiftly moved in front of this old man and punched the vehicle with your super strength?"

"Eh…close enough", Gwen smiled, "How about you? Fought any dragons?"

"I wish. Just spent the whole day doing paperwork".

"Spoken like a true super cop".

"I'm a spy", Ami corrected. "As an agent, I have to do boring office work like most of the employees".

"Doesn't that sound like those typical K-dramas I watch with you?"

Ami smirked, "You watch Korean action movies with me", she pointed out, "We NEVER watch sappy K-dramas".

Gwen flinched as she was caught red-handed, "What? I do not know where you are getting the idea…"

Ami just laughed at the embarrassment of Gwen watching an overly fluffy office romance series. "You do know those shows encourage the annoying stereotypes, right?"

"Well, can I cook for you next time?"

"What do Americans say? Oh yes…Hell No! I don't want to protect your apartment and mine whenever I see you".

"Why is everyone preventing spider people from cooking?"

Ami placed her forefinger on the other girl's forehead, "Do I need to state the obvious?" She took the empty dishes and placed them in the sink. Gwen stood up and walked to her room.

"Wait for me, yeah?" Ami spoke as she finished washing the plates quickly. "I need body warmth".

"I think my hearing is broken because I thought you just said you needed body warmth"

"You heard correctly"

The girl's face was almost in complete pink, she stared at her roommate as if Ami was saying something absurd. "You want…to sleep in the bed I'm sleeping in?"

Ami looked at her in amusement. "You mean MY bedroom? Yes, it's too cold for you to sleep on the couch".

"You want us to sleep with each other?!"

"Geez Gwen! It's just cuddling! Don't say it like that".

"But still!"

Ami held Gwen's hand and guided her to the room, "Didn't you do this with your female friends? This is normal".

"No, it's not! I think it's inappropriate!"

"That is so cute ~", she chirped as she turned off the lights and they walked into the room.

"You, sly fox…why didn't you tell me there was only one bedroom in this apartment?"

Ami just pretended to ignore and moved the blankets, tapping on the other side and the blonde reluctantly moved her legs inside the blankets. The white-haired girl sat next to her before turning to turn off the lights. She paused when she noticed Gwen being uncomfortable. "If it helps, you can face the wall on your side while I sleep or…"

"Or what?"

"Or we talk about our 'jobs' which could make one of us drift to sleep".

Gwen narrowed her eyes at the fox, "I have a better option".

"Which is?"

"Tell me why you're messing with me right now".

Ami sighed, "I never had any intention of making you uncomfortable, but I guess I just wanted some company from someone who is…"

"American?" Gwen guessed as she nodded in disbelief that she was being treated like an exotic animal.

"What?! No! That's not—you do know I have met several non-Asian vigilantes before I met you, right?" Ami faced the blonde with a frown as she folded her arms. "I just wanted to spend proper time with someone who has never made me feel lonely since the day we met—what's with that face?"

Gwen's eyes were sparkling and her mouth was forming a shaky closed grin, it was like she was smiling and on the verge of breaking down. Ami didn't realize she was caressing her face until Gwen leaned forward. Then they looked away, for reasons that were different from the other girl. Gwen sunk deeper inside the blankets and Ami joined in.

Gwen probably felt embarrassed so the fox thought it would be best to face away until Gwen lay her head on the front of Ami's shoulder.

"This better not be a regret", she spoke so low that even normal whispers would be easier to hear. Ami heard but tried to overthink what she said. Knowing the blonde, her saying things like that had a deeper darker meaning to it.

Before she closed her eyes she placed her head on top of Gwen's, smelling shampoo that reminded her of her previous mission in Ukraine, she muttered something as well.

"Then you better stay".
