A/N: This is relatable on misunderstandings
Ami was finally done with her duties and had time to spare. Well, she was in the United States and the Agents of Atlas had everything under control for now so…
Walking into town in civilian form and raven hair wig, she walked to a park bench where a certain blonde woman was listening to music through earphones. Sneaking up on her, she wrapped her arms around the woman's torso.
Unfortunately, the woman was not a friend or even a woman. He screamed in shock and startled as he stood up and glared at the young Korean woman.
"Oh! I am so sorry! I thought you were someone else…" she said with an apologetic smile as she tried backing away.
Then someone behind her laughed, "So you think I look like a twink man, huh?" Ami turned around and saw Gwen Stacy putting her phone and earphones into her jacket pocket.
Ami smirked, "These are modern times where it's possible and almost completely acceptable for men to have convincing feminine appearances".
"Well you are the kind of woman who is too pretty and femme fatale to pull off anything masculine", Gwen grinned as she playfully pushed Ami's shoulder with her forefinger. Ami blushed at that comment.
"Can you two lesbians go ruin another man's day off already?" The man commented and the two girls just glared at him.
Ami took Gwen's hand and started walking. "Let's get out of here".
Gwen kept looking at Ami intertwining her hand onto her own, which became hard to ignore. As they walked around, Gwen noticed a record store. "Let's go in there, I need to check something".
Ami followed (still holding Gwen's hand) and she saw a lot of vinyl records. Gwen was scanning all spots of the store until she spotted something.
"Oh thank God! No one bought it yet", she exhaled in relief. "This is what I'd like to get". Ami eyed the record of the artist Mitski.
"I didn't take you as a Mitski fan…"
"I may live for punk rock but artists like Mitski are perfect for just chilling and feeling like a soft beanbag", Gwen explained, "My personal favorite is Francis Forever and Washing Machine Heart, I know those are songs everyone has heard but it just makes me feel…like my life isn't so hard" She felt Ami's hand holding firmly now. "Ah…not everything's about me, so what music do you listen to?"
Ami was thinking of comforting her but she had learned that Gwen had a hard time opening up. So she just answered her question. "I like Mitski too, along with a few of The Weeknd…" She couldn't resist grinning at Gwen's shocked face.
"You like Ariana Grande too don't you?"
Ami's lip corners crooked up, "Everyone assumes that when I say I listen to The Weeknd"
"As they should, Ariana's voice just matches so well with his own".
"So you listen to Ariana Grande?"
Gwen laughed at that question, "She's way too pop for my taste, but then again, Avril Lavigne isn't so bad" Gwen thought out loud, "The rock music, not the pop where she tried to fit in with hipsters in the previous decade."
"You do seem to like her right?" Ami held up a vinyl disc of Olivia Rodrigo. Gwen was surprised that she hadn't noticed Ami had let go of her hand.
"I only like the songs that aren't about having a toxic or unfaithful boyfriend".
So Gwen only liked Brutal, All American, Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl and Pretty is Pretty. Ami placed it back on the display shelf.
"This…" Gwen gasped, "Is a masterpiece". She held up a record cover of a band called Three Days Grace and one other called Linkin Park"
Ami observed and remembered, "One of them had a frontman who passed away right?"
"Yeah, Linkin Park was a hit with Numb and In The End, those songs helped me in my angsty teens".
"And Three Days Grace?"
Gwen smiled, "Even though most of them are about dating toxic women, it can still feel like songs relatable to anyone who was in their lowest moments"
"So how angsty were you when you still attended high school?"
Gwen put her finger on her chin in thought, "I had piercings"
"…where—nevermind, I do not want to know"
"You want to see them in private?" She blurted and Ami exhaled heart air out her nose. Then a boy whistled from the counter.
"I would definitely—"
"Piss off creep!" Gwen glared but then picked a Mitski disc and paid the man. As the two walked out, Ami attempted to hold Gwen's hand again but the blonde quickly whipped it away. Ami frowned.
"Are you mad at me?" she asked softly, and Gwen avoided her gaze and sighed.
"There is no reason to be mad at you".
"Then let me hold your hand"
"No" Gwen snapped, then noticed Ami's hurt look in her eyes. Crap… "Uh, I mean you want to but not…"
Ami scowled, "Not what?" She folded her arms and Gwen looked around.
"Let's not make a scene"
Ami exhaled through her mouth and walked away holding her phone in her ear, no doubt calling her secret agent organization.
Gwen faced the sky and made a ragged sigh. She was a self-sabotaging idiot. She walked back to her apartment and sat on her bed, thinking the worst-case results of Ami hating her.
She cared about Ami, and she was the only non-spider-themed hero that she trusted with her life. She was willing to put up with her and even saved her several times. Gwen was not entirely sure what she did to make a super spy with fox powers like her.
She tried texting but couldn't think of the right kind of apology. She decided to start with an 'I am sorry' which Ami had received but chose not to reply.
"She's going to ignore my texts now?" She swept her face with her hand, "So she is on that level of upset".
Then her connection to the police radio towers announced a bank robbery. She sighed as she shapeshifted her clothes into her Ghost Spider getup and headed out.
It was already dark and Ghost Spider was semi-focused on being a superhero. She landed at a carpenter store and opened the store entrance doors. Usually, Ghost Spider would enter in stealth and perform sneak attacks. Well, if her WhatsApp notified her of a message as she walked in. The crooks turned to her and were about to shoot when the spider had webbed the criminals' legs forward. As they fell on their backs, Ghost Spider used her web strings to disarm the criminals. She was not even taking this seriously as to her, the phone was slightly more important.
"What?! She said 'For what?' ugh! I should've known she'd want a good explanation" She frowned and then texted 'So you are not mad?'
That coy message was an instant mistake when Ami texted back: Are you too thoughtless to think about other people's feelings?!
She replied with: Look, what I did that hurt you mostly isn't about you.
She felt ringing in her head as she texted more of her explanation.
"Hey, hero! You forgot to tie up the criminals!" a familiar voice yelled and Ghost Spider turned to find White Fox dashed at enhanced speed to punch the thug with a knife. She noticed the other thugs getting up and prepared to fight. The two girls already defeated them and Ghost Spider tied them in web silk.
"Yeah! Two cool chicks kicked butt!" Ghost Spider hollered and raised her hand at the Kumiho for a high five. White Fox just gave her a glare and Ghost Spider remembered that she was still mad. "Okay, I know I made you a little upset and I don't understand why—"
"You don't?! You don't understand why you are ashamed like a girl!"
Ghost Spider's lenses made a furrowed expression then widened in realization, "That's why you're mad at me?!"
White Fox began walking out when Ghost Spider held her hand. The fox was surprised when she looked at the hand holding. Ghost Spider's lenses formed into upside crescents. "I am not ashamed of liking other girls, or scared of Karens".
The Kumiho's lenses widened as Ghost Spider walked with her out, still holding her hand. Ghost Spider unexpectedly pulled her onto her side and swung up to a rooftop. White Fox moved away from her but looked less upset than before. The spider dematerialized her mask, exposing her face.
"If you don't care what people think then why is it hard for you to not let me hug you? Or at least hold—"
Gwen placed her forefinger on the fox's lips, "I am so far from being an expert on…closeness" She removed her finger from the other woman's lips and continued. "I…was never ashamed about the whole sexuality, I just don't want you to get hurt…and not if I'm the reason why" She said that in a whisper and looked down drawing imaginary lines with her foot, "Death loves Gwen Stacy"
This was the part where she walks out, or the part where she laughs harshly or—thoughts interrupted with an unexpected softness on the blondes lips. Gwen's eyes fluttered closed and White Fox placed her hand on her cheek. When she departed, White Fox giggled and bit her bottom lip at Gwen's pinkish face and dumbfounded smile. "Put a little more trust in me spider, just as much as I put in you"
"…Why me?"
The kumiho smiled, "Why not? It's because you bring me happiness" She then held up her hand, "Just know that when you let me in, I'll be by your side and holding your hand"
"I would…love that"
A/N: I wanted to write the idea of Gwen not caring what judgemental homophobic people would think as my headcanon is that she has already came out about her sexuality. She just has a hard time being emotionally vulnerable especially around people who try getting emotionally close. So she has the habit of self-sabotage.
