Chapter 2: Strange dream
It was early in the morning at the jungle outskirts of the colorful city Rio de Janeiro. The first sight of the twilight arose from the east out of the Atlantic Ocean.
In one of the tree hollows lived a family of macaws, more specifically, spix macaws. A father, a mother and 2 chicks and there was even still one egg.
The father looked almost exactly like Blu would look like, with the only difference that his eyes had a green color that look like the ones of Carla.
The mother bird also had dark blue feathers, although they weren't as dark as the father's feathers. She had one large feather on the back of her head that pointed backwards and had hazel brown eyes.
The oldest chick was a boy, who looked exactly as Blu (as a chick ofc), but there were 2 differences: he didn't have any feathers on the back of his head, and he had the eyes of his father.
The other chick was a girl, who had the same built as her older brother, the same eyes, but had like her mother the same singular feather on the back of her head.
"How long will it take for our next sibling to come out, mommy?" the girl asked.
"Yeah, I'm also getting impatience, mommy, it's been nearly a week and a half, and it still hasn't come out."
"Patience, Thomas and Jasmine, patience." said the woman "Your little brother or sister will come soon enough."
"To be quite honest, Camila, I myself also am getting a bit impatient. I truly wanna see our third child." said the male spix.
"Not, you too, Alejandro" said Camila amusingly, rolling her eyes.
"What do you think, sis? Do you think it will be a brother we'll get or a sister?" Thomas asked Jasmine.
"I think a brother, but I hope a sister." Jasmine said, "And you?"
"I hope and think a little brother." Thomas responded.
Then out of a sudden, they saw it. The egg was moving. The four nearly jumped.
"THE EGG IS COMING OUT! MOMMY, DADDY! OUR NEW SIBLING IS COMING!" Thomas exclaimed.
"This is so exciting!" Jasmine said.
"Be quiet, kids, let your brother or sister do his/her work." Alejandro said to his children as he watched the egg trying to crack open.
After about 3 minutes and 25 seconds, the head of a small boy chick popped out of the egg, with the shell still on its head. The boy had dark blue feathers and 3 feathers on the back of his head like his father and had hazel brown eyes like his mother.
"It's a boy…" both Jasmine and Thomas said at the same time in awe.
The boy then crawled his way out of the shell to his mother, who picked him up with her wings.
Camila shed a tear and said: "He's beautiful. How should we name him?"
"How about Marcus?" asked Jasmine.
"What about Alex?" Thomas asked.
"Maybe Bobby?" Alejandro suggested.
"How about Blu?" asked Camila.
"Blu…" Alejandro said to himself, smiling. "I like that name."
"Yeah, I like that name too." Jasmine admitted.
"Me, too, but many birds will confuse his name with the color blue and think he might be joking."
"Oh, the birds might in the beginning, but they will soon get over it. I promise you that, Thomas." assured Camila.
"Our little, Blu, welcome to the world." Alejandro said smiling to his newborn son, to which little Blu smiled back.
Then suddenly there were flashing moments. First of birds dancing and singing, with little Blu also dancing alone in his hollow, but then screams and yells of birds being captured by nets and cages.
Then there was a flash that little Blu fell out of his nest to the ground, unable to fly, before being caged himself.
Lastly there was a flash of him being dragged away in that cage, while hearing something in the distance, faintly, but clearly; "Blu! Blu! Blu!"
"Blu, Blu, wake up sleepyhead…" Jewel said in a kind voice in order to wake her husband.
Suddenly, Blu's eye right opened, his pupil dilated, and he woke up gasping.
Jewel and the kids were a bit shocked by Blu's sudden movements.
"Oh, oh, Jewel, Bia, Carla, Tiago." Blu said still gasping a bit.
"Uh, dad? Are you alright?" Tiago asked worried.
"Had a weird dream. That's all." Blu replied.
"Oh… What was it about, dad?" Bia asked.
Blu tried to open his eyes a bit more before saying: "To be honest, I forgot."
"Wow, usually you're the one who remembers most things, honey." Jewel said amusingly.
"I know, honey, but it's gone now. The only thing I can remember, is that it was something when I myself was still a chick." Blu said.
"Oh, like when you still lived with Linda in Minnesota?" Carla asked.
"No, sweetie, even before that. But again, I don't remember anymore." Blu replied.
"Anyways, what time is it?" Blu asked.
"Sun has just risen, honey." Jewel said.
"Alright, then I think I'll get some breakfast." Blu replied.
Before Blu was about to leave, Tiago said: "Wait, dad, your fanny pack!".
"Ah, honestly, I have grown quite accustomed to not using it, Tiago." Blu said.
Jewel smiled at this. She was happy that Blu was making less usage of human objects and became more 'wild' like a real bird.
"Oh, Blu, don't take any food from the scarlet macaw's side." Jewel said sarcastically.
Blu chuckled and said: "Don't worry, honey, I know by now what side we're on."
And with that Blu left for food.
I am so lucky to have you as my husband, Blu, I don't know what I would do without you. Jewel thought to herself.
To be continued…
