Chapter 24: Panic, confusion and admission
"Wait a second, Sapphire!" Eduardo said to his wife. "What do you mean that war may be on our doorstep?"
"There is no time to explain this now, Eddie, we need to set up as much defenses as possible!" Sapphire exclaimed.
"Sapphire is right, Mr. Eduardo, and we also need to send out more patrols at night, with all tribes here!" Mia exclaimed.
Whilst all the birds, even the Azul clan were completely confused, Mia's scarlet macaw tribe were already taking action of going into a full defensive mode.
"No spix macaw or scarlet macaw leaves the borders this sanctuary, until I see fit!" Sapphire exclaimed, which shocked most birds even more.
"Because of what?!" Nico said. "Because some guy you knew is stirring up trouble?"
Sapphire then turned towards Nico, her family and all her friends.
"Because Terrin the Terrible is a madbird without conscience or mercy and will stop at nothing to achieve his grand goals!" Sapphire yelled.
Grand goals? Andor thought to himself.
"And if he has been building up his forces in some ancient human temples with an underground passage that once belonged to other birds… God help us." Sapphire said.
"Get ready to place up those defenses, Mia!" Sapphire yelled.
"On it!" Mia said.
"Sapphire." Eduardo said, but no reply from his wife.
"Arturo, make sure that ¼ of Mia's tribe are training already for a possible attack!" Sapphire told the blue-and-yellow macaw.
"Right!" Arturo said.
"Sapphire!" Eduardo now yelled, but still no reply from his wife.
"Megeslav, make sure that the food resources are protected as, well!" Sapphire told the military macaw.
"SAPPHIRE!" Eduardo now yelled furiously.
"WHAT IS IT, EDDIE?!" Sapphire yelled back.
"Enough!" Eduardo said. "Now tell us, what in the world is going on here?!"
"I told you, Eddie, there is no time to explain it now!" Sapphire replied.
"I believe this is the very right time to explain to all of us what's going on! Tell us Sapphire, what are we up against this time?!" Eduardo asked his wife.
"I too wish to know what is really going on here!" Andor said. "We have fought against Terrin and his Emberwings before, but you seem to know something about them we don't. Tell us, Sapphire! What in Óðsen name is really going on?!"
"Wait!" Blu suddenly interrupted. "Trying to force it out of her won't work, guys. Let me try it."
Blu stepped forward towards his mother-in-law.
"Look, Sapphire, I know you don't like talking about your past because it gives you traumas. But the way you just reacted was a surprise to everyone here, especially since you're normally such a calm and kind bird. Please, tell us what danger we are facing and what the backstory of it is. The Azul clan also has a right to know, since they had also faced Terrin's and the Embergings' wrath, but they perhaps don't know what the full backstory of him is. Please, Sapphire, take your time and tell us." Blu said in a very calm tone.
Sapphire calmed down, her face fell and so did her head. Blu noticed her sadness.
"I'm sorry, Sapphire I shouldn't have-" Blu said but was then cut off by Sapphire.
"No, Blu, you're right. I overreacted at first." Sapphire said and sighed: "I believe it's time all of you, and I literally mean all of you should know what had happened."
Sapphire went up to the stone podium where the main attention for the Carnival Show would be. She could be seen by everyone in the area, and she would speak loud and clear so that everyone could hear her.
"It all started after I lost the tribe…"
To be continued…
