T10: The Fox And The Boy.
Cameron, Rocco and Leo were outside in the backyard in the lake with Mickey, kicking a soccer-ball back and forth while talking, with Mickey at Cameron's right side.
"Dude, what's up with your Mom?" Cameron asked before kicking the ball to Rocco.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Rocco said before kicking the ball back to Cameron.
"Yeah, you do." Cameron said before kicking the ball back to Rocco.
"No, i don't. Explain." Rocco said before kicking the ball back to Cameron.
"Rocco...is your Mom...okay?" Cameron asked before kicking the ball to Leo.
"Why do you ask that?" Rocco asked.
Leo kicked the ball to Cameron.
"Cause she seemed a little upset when you mentioned your Dad's friend. She was trying to hide it behind a smile, but i know she was really sad. What's that about?" Cameron asked before kicking the ball over to Rocco.
"You're asking me?" Rocco asked before kicking the ball back to Cameron.
"Well...yeah, i mean...you do live with her, right?" Cameron asked before kicking the ball back over to Leo.
"Yeah, i live with her, but that doesn't mean i know everything that goes on with her." Rocco said.
Leo kicked the ball back to Cameron.
"What is going on with her exactly?" Cameron asked before kicking the ball to Rocco.
"You're asking the wrong person." Rocco said before kicking the ball back over to Cameron.
"Apparently." Cameron said before kicking the ball over to Leo.
Leo kicked the ball so hard this time, it flew right over Cameron's head.
Cameron and Micky turned around to see the ball land in a bush, then they turned to face the other two boys. "Thanks a lot, Leo." Cameron said sarcastically before turning and running towards the bush, with Mickey following him.
"My bad!" Leo said before he and Rocco ran after Cameron and Mickey.
The boys and the pup ran toward the bush, but soon stopped in their tracks when the soccer-ball was tossed out of the bush and landed right in front of them.
"You saw that, right?" Cameron said.
"If by "that", you mean the soccer-ball that was just thrown out of the bush, then yeah, we did." Rocco said.
"Good. I thought it was just me." Cameron said.
"Hello? Is anybody in there?" Leo called.
But there was no reply.
"Only one way to find out." Cameron before picking the ball up and tossing it into the bush.
"OW!" Came a young male voice from inside the bush.
"Who's there?!" Rocco demanded.
"Show yourself! Or we're calling the police!" Cameron added and warned.
A 10-year old boy came out of the bush, holding the soccer-ball. He had long light brown neck-length hair and blue eyes. He wore a blue backpack, a dark blue/white/light blue striped short sleeve shirt, gray pants, and black-white sneakers white laces and black trims. "Please don't call the police. Please?"
"Who are you?" Cameron asked.
"William Trevor Manning. Will for short." Said the 10-year old boy now known as Will.
"Hi, Will, i'm Cameron. And this is my dog, Mickey."
Mickey barked, greeting Will.
"I'm Rocco, Cameron's cousin."
"And i'm Leo, his other cousin."
"Hello, Cameron...Mickey...Rocco...Leo. It's nice to meet you all." Will said.
"Likewise." Cameron said. "So, uh...what are you doing out here in our backyard? Shouldn't you be at home with your family, getting ready for Thanksgiving?"
"Believe me, there's no place i'd rather be than at home right now." Will said.
"Then why aren't you?" Leo asked.
"Because of this." Will said before putting the ball on the ground on his right, then he took off his backpack, placed it on the ground in front of him, and unzipped it.
A cute, little red fox kit popped it's head out of the now unzipped backpack.
"A fox? Dude, what are you doing out here in the backyard with a fox? You didn't catch him for Thanksgiving dinner, did you?" Rocco asked.
"Of course not. This my friend, Todd...and we're hiding out here." Will corrected.
"Hiding out? Why?" Cameron asked curiously.
"We ran away from home." Will answered.
Ran away from home? Why?" Cameron asked, confused.
"I can see i'm getting ahead of myself, so let me start where it makes sense." Will began.
