Amari...

My child...

Wake up...

'Mmh...Huh...?' Amari mumbled sleepily, his eyes widening upon realizing he wasn't in his bed.

'W-What the-?!' Amari exclaimed, before looking up to see the giant figure in front of him.

It was a white equine-like being resembling a qilin or centaur with a gray, vertically-striated underside. The striated pattern had similar recurrences on the underside of its mane, tail, and face. Its four pointed feet were tipped with gold hooves.

He froze as he stared at the giant figure.

He had a feeling-no, he knew who this was.

His heart pounded in his chest, his breathing becoming slightly heavy.

'Y-You...you're...' He stammered, struggling to speak.

The equine figure spoke before Amari could respond.

I am Arceus, yes.

It's voice echoed among the entire void the two were floating in.

It was heavy, overwhelmingly so.

Amari Tanori, I have long awaited for your arrival. I assume you have many questions.

Amari shook his head, trying to refocus.

The last thing he needed to be was shocked when this was his one chance to talk to him.

'Y-Yeah...I have a lot...' He responded, his tone nervous.

What was he supposed to ask, though...?

"Are you my real father?"

"Why are you in my dreams?"

"Why was I born with a horrible family?"

"Why do I EXIST?"

Slow down, my child. You're stressing yourself out.

'That. Am I really...your son...?' Amari asked, looking at the godly being with a desperate stare.

Half of him wanted it to be true, but the other half wanted it to just be a fluke.

Arceus narrowed his eyes.

...Yes, you are my son; Even as a human, you contain my DNA.

Amari took a deep, shaky breath.

'I...I see...I think...' He said, his voice shaky.

This isn't real.

This wasn't real.

It couldn't be.

...Right?

Amari tried to calm himself down, a hand on his chest squeezing his shirt and his eyes shut tightly.

'Hah...Hah...' He breathed heavily, his chest hurting.

My child, you must calm down.

'I-I c-can't...it hurts to breathe...!'

Arceus shrinked himself down to Amari's size, quickly crouching down towards the boy.

He suddenly felt himself becoming calmer, as if a wave of relaxation crashed over him.

His breathing slowled down to a steady pace, and he trembled significantly less.

He knew what this move was, as Mew had used it on him a few times.

'Calm Mind...?' He asked, his tone much calmer.

Yes, my child. A move you've grown accustomed to, yes?

Amari nodded.

'Y-Yeah...thanks...' Amari said.

Arceus made a expression that showed...happiness?

It was hard to dicern what the expression was due to the Pokémon not having a mouth, but it was enough of a well-informed guess to say he was content.

'...Why me?' Amari asked, his face frowning softly as he looked away from the deity.

Why I chose you, you mean?

'Yes.'

I'd always wonder what it'd be like having a child of my own. Of course, a godly deity such as myself shouldn't be able to do so, since I'm extremely powerful...

'Right.'

Despite that, I didn't think of it to be a problem...at least for me.

Arceus looked at the boy, his facial expression giving off what looked like a worried frown.

You're probably wondering why I wasn't the one to take care of you growing up, being your guardian, correct?

Amari nodded.

'That, or why you didn't introduce yourself to me when I was younger...'

Arceus sighed.

The method of which you were born with my DNA was...unorthodox. You were still birthed from your human parents, but I used my abilities to give you my DNA during your fertile state.

Amari tilted his head in confusion.

'How does that even work...?'

I am a God, simple as that.

Amari frowned, crossing his arms.

'You know that's not what I mean...'

If I were to tell you the secrets of my power, you'd probably look at the world in a very, VERY different light, my child. I suggest you accept the answer I gave you earlier.

'Okay, okay, whatever...' Amari said, huffing slightly.

...

...

'Is there anything else I need to know...?'

Is there anything else you would like to ask?

Amari went silent, turning his head to stare at the white, infinite void the two were in.

'...When will I see you in reality?'

When your life depends on it.

'What do you mean by-'

Amari woke up to knocking before he could finish his question.

"Amari, breakfast is ready, come downstairs!" A female voice said from outside his room, likely his mother, Delilah.

"...Coming, Mom." Amari said exhaustingly.

He looked at his hands.

When your life depends on it.

"..."

Amari finally has a chat with this 'God of all Pokémon'.

Unfortunately, he's left with more questions than he is answers.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

That'll do it for Chapter 13!

This one thankfully didn't take as long as I thought it would.

Chapter 14 will probably be done sometime either this week or next week; I currently have exams, so it'll be a good bit until the next chapter...

I'll probably also work on getting the next chapter of Legendary Reincarnation done as well, if I can get past the writers block for that story...

See y'all until then!
