Okay, so here, I'm going to be ranking all seven Ugly Duckling movies, talking about them, and giving my thoughts on each. Starting with what I consider the weakest one to what I consider the best. I won't be doing a number out of ten like in my TTL chapters. Before we begin, this will contain spoilers for the Ugly Duckling movies. Viewer discretion is advised.

Anyways, let's begin.

Number 7: The Ugly Duckling in Tales of Elves & Dragons

This is what I consider the weakest for these reasons: It lacks most of the characters in the majority of the plot, primarily focusing on Ugly, Nico, a turtle character, a creature that looks like a koala, and that dragon.

I don't really remember much from the movie other than Ugly and Nico trying to help the dragon overcome being feared or whatever. Anyways, moving on.

Number 6: The Ugly Duckling in Tales of Mystery

Having ghosts in your movie could have a variety of effects on the story. In this case, the ghosts on this film have mixed results. On one hand, the ghosts are kind of generic, on another, there is an interesting setup with them forming that group.

They could've done more with the ghosts overall, perhaps have them disguise themselves as other characters. Now that would've been interesting. Also, the ending was mostly a lot of filler.

Number 5: The Christmas of the Ugly Duckling

Yeah, Christmas special are quite common, and the Ugly Duckling movies are no exception. In this one, the first act consisted of Ugly and Nico helping an alive snowman turn into a star (star as in constellation, not popular star).

A major thing I wanna mention is a moment where Ugly and Nico make presents for everyone, most notably the Weasels (who reform after this), but then Apollo and Flope take the presents and destroy them. Now keep in mind, the Weasels are supposed to be the main antagonists of the Ugly Duckling movies, emphasis on the supposed to be. More on that subject a little later.

Number 4: The Fantastic Adventure of the Ugly Duckling

The film that tells the definitive story of this incarnation of the Ugly Duckling. Perhaps the other movies are meant to take place during this movie before Ugly became a swan, but I digress. Although, there is a bit of a loophole in this one: when Ugly meets Patty. He had bandaged her wing and eyes after rescuing her from the hunter, and when he left to get her flowers, Apollo came and she thought he was Ugly. Couldn't she have at least recognised the voice? Oh well, moving on.

Number 3: The Ugly Ducking and his Big Race

Yep. They're introducing racing into the movies. Imagine if they made a Mario Kart-style game. I wouldn't mind playing that. It also explains Patty's on-and-off screen appearances which I will mention later.

The ending was pretty admirable, especially the interaction between Ugly and Patty. But I won't say what happened in it, you'll just have to watch and see for yourself.

Number 2: The Ugly Duckling goes on Holiday

The reason I had Mariano be the (so far) only adult character in the Ugly Duckling group. Not only did he prove to be a good leader, but he's also capable of putting Apollo in his place.

The film itself had interesting plots in each of its act. From wish granting to discovering a strange house, it's quite an entertaining film to watch.

Number 1: The Ugly Duckling in the Enchanted Forest

Fun fact: this was the first Ugly Duckling movie I have watched. And it has quite a lot going for it, from plots to characters.

The witch character totally should've been in more of the movies and her ability to turn others into trees added a more interesting effect to the story. It feels like a true and really good fairy tale movie for all ages.

So, those are my ranked Ugly Duckling movies. Check them out yourself and see what you think of them.
