Artemis dove from a hole in the side of the ship several blasts from the alien weapons followed her, she pulled the detonator from her belt but before she could depress the button it was ripped from her hand flying away into the sky beneath her, she curled her legs behind her sending her spiraling, she straightened out upside down in time to see the detonator disappear from sight.
She tightened her arms against her body and squeezed her legs tightly together, even with her goggles tight against her face she struggled to keep her eyes open as she sped up, she burst through the clouds, the city now visible beneath her and approaching quickly.
She extended her arms and legs causing her to decelerate fast sending a rattling pain through her body, she clamped her eyes tightly closed as the pain dulled, and when she opened them again she was falling flat against the wind, she glanced around for the detonator, it took a second for her to spot it falling rapidly a few feet above her.
Kara spat a wad of blood to the ground as she struggled upright,
"Your fight is futile, give up, and maybe I will let you live as my slave when we have conquered your world," 1 of the soldiers said, his words slurred and sloppy,
"I'll never let you take my home, if you want it then I'll make you fight for it" He threw a punch straight at her face, and she launched off the ground slipping just underneath it, she flew a couple of feet before crashing back to the ground.
He stepped over to where she lay in a pile, his large bulk cast shadows over her,
"You are far too weak to save this world" He taunted lifting her from the ground, he saw the sun glint off her eyes "The hero of Earth brought to tears" He laughed, there was a second glint of sun off her eyes and a smile spread across her lips, the soldier missed his chance to react and was struck by the hot laser.
