Kara heard the Citadel soldiers too late, they were already surrounded by at least 16,
"I don't think I can take this many," She said quietly to the others,
"We barely made it through the last batch" Donna agreed,
"I don't think we get a choice," Garfield said grimly as they tightened into a circle with their backs to each other,
"When he's right he's right," Donna said tightening her lasso between her hands,
"Then we go down fighting," Kara said looking toward the sky, dark clouds had covered the sun and she could feel its absence.
The soldiers slowly moved in toward the group, Garfield began to growl, the advance was interrupted as a shrill whistle tore through the air, 1 of the soldiers gripped his neck in pain, he pulled a small arrow from his neck leaving a small wound, for a second he looked amused before his face shifted to confusion as he stumbled back, he reached out to catch himself but couldn't find anything, he tumbled to the ground with a thud.
Both groups turned to see where the arrow had come from, atop a low-roofed building stood a figure drawing their bow back for a second shot, Donna was the first to recover from her surprise, she wrapped her lasso around 1 of the soldier's necks and tightened it, as he struggled the second arrow struck another in the chest, as he fell to the ground the sound was muffled by what sounded like a jet engine flying through the streets, Kara glanced back and watched as a boy wearing red and yellow tore down the street towards them so fast the others could only make out a yellow and red streak, he span out of his run jabbing his elbow into 1 soldier before dashing forward and striking another in the chin with his knee.
"Garfield" Kara called out reaching for him, he wrapped his hand around hers and she tossed him into the air, he came down on 1 of their enemies, his fingers now long claws, Donna was now fending off several more soldiers while arrows continued flying around them, Kara propelled herself off the ground into a group of the soldiers.
Kara slid down against a low brick wall, while Donna and Garfield lay on some nearby picnic tables exhausted, as soon as the fight was over the boy had taken off, and the group had decided to sit for a couple of minutes to catch their breath, as they sat it began to rain lightly, over the sound of the rain Kara heard the boy approach again quieter this time when he arrived the group got their first look at him and the archer from the roof, the boy had bright red hair, his crystal blue eyes shown through a pair of large red-rimmed goggles, he wore a yellow super suit with a lightning bolt on the chest, red boots ran upward to his knees before splitting off into single lines up the sides of his legs, the two lines met at a red belt before continuing up the sides of his torso coming to an end as large patches under his elbows, disconnected red gloves covered his hands and his costume was topped off with a mask that left from his chin to his nose exposed and stopped at his hair.
He had carried the archer from her perch on the roof, she was several inches shorter than him and her super suit looked more amateur, it consisted of a green cropped top with a yellow arrow pointing upward on the front, beneath it was a dark green muscle shirt that clung tightly around her thin muscular stomach, she wore tight green shorts with a yellow line down the side over a pair of matching leggings with a pair of brown boots that stopped about 3 inches above her ankles, she had fingerless gloves and a mask that matched the boys except that it was green with large dark green goggles pulled over her steely blue eyes, the sides of her head were shaved with blonde hair at the top of her head pulled back into a long tight ponytail,
"Artemis, Kid Flash, what are you 2 doing here?" Donna asked sliding off her picnic table,
"Wonder Girl, it's nice to meet you," Kid Flash said enthusiastically,
"Flash and Arrow sent us to help out," Artemis said, her voice rough,
"Who are they?" Kara asked,
"Their Flash's and Green Arrow's sidekicks," Garfield said hopping off his table,
"Was that you?" Donna asked pointing to the burning airship above,
"1 of them was" Artemis answered.
There was a loud tearing sound above them, the 5 teenagers watched as a bus fell out of the sky several blocks away from them,
"Please tell me everyone just saw a bus appear out of nowhere in the sky," Artemis said,
"I always wondered what happened to the magic school bus" Kid Flash said.
