Chapter 2
Lucas the mysterious kid: a first clash.
AN: I hope you guys like this Fanfic, this is my first time so I am sorry if I am total garbage. So last chapter Nate met a kid who saw him and his Yo-kai friends. I bet many of you can guess who it was.
Disclaimer: I still do not own Yo-kai. If I did Yo-kai watch four would be in America already.
Nate was on his way home after he saw that kid who congratulated him on his victory with Yo-kai, Nate was still confused on how this kid was able to see Yo-kai but that kid was gone, he would just have to wait for the next day.
"So who was that kid Nate?" asked Whisper with visible confusion on his face. Whisper was very surprised that Nate wasn't as concerned as Whisper was. A kid that could see Yo-kai was rare, what were the odds of two humans in the same town, much less the same class could. Sure some humans could see Yo-kai without a watch but it was more likely just a Yo-kai taking a human form. If that was true then it might be trouble for Nate in the future.
"Yeah Nyate and how was that kid able to see Yo-kai?" asked Jibanyan not exactly worried but more just curious.
"That kid was Lucas, he's a pretty nice guy but I'm just as surprised as you guys that he can see Yo-kai he didn't seem weird in any way. I mean he is really good at science and history but he other than that he's just an average kid like me," explained Nate.
"Well if you hadn't nyoticed Nyate you're nyot that average," said Jibanyan.
"Thanks, Jibanyan, at least someone thinks so," said Nate shooting a glare at Whisper.
"Well I mean you're a human who can talk to spirits but other than that you're pretty average," added Jibanyan. "Urrrh," growled Nate right before he got out a giant paper fan to smack the red cat Yo-kai with. Whisper tried very hard to hold back a laugh at the fear of meeting the same fate as Jibanyan.
"So I guess we'll just have to meet this boy tomorrow. That will sure be a fun conversation," said Whisper with a light laugh.
"Yeah, but what should I say?" asked Nate looking at his yo-kai butler for answers.
"Well I don't know, how 'bout, 'hey there Lucas great to see you wanna talk about Yo-kai?' I mean it can't be too hard, can it? He's just a kid." advised Whisper.
"Yeah Whisper's right for once, I bet you two could become great friends," said Jibanyan after recovering from his fan smacking.
"You're probably right, Thanks again Jibanyan for helping out with that Yo-kai problem you did great you seem to be getting stronger every day," said Nate praising Jibanyan.
"Yeah, I feel it too, training against cars and trucks battling my hardest, but it doesn't seem to be enough." said Jibanyan, "my progress is too small I need some bigger challenges, but ones that I can still handle."
"What do you mean?" asked Whisper, "You're not even able to dent a truck."
"Well like today fighting three Yo-kai at once I could feel myself getting stronger plus it was just plain fun, especially fighting alongside Walkappa, Baku, and Hungramps. Ya know, I don't ever wanna battle alone again," said Jibanyan with a grin.
"Okay, I'll make a note of that. Whisper make a note of that," dictated Nate.
"Um… Nate that's not something I do," Whisper told Nate.
"Uh, then what do you do?" asked Nate.
"Um… well I… um." studdered Whisper.
"Haha, Whisper does nyothing." laughed Jibanyan.
"Well that's certainly true," said Nate.
"Hey wait I do something," reasoned Whisper. Nate and Jibanyan laughed again and this time Whisper just couldn't help but join.
"Oh but Jibanyan I will help you get stronger," said Nate getting a little more serious, "It is what I promised you the day we met right."
"Yeah, you really mean it Nyate?" asked Jibanyan, eyes glowing.
"Yeah I do," said Nate in his kind tone, giving Jibanyan a smile.
"I can do something to help too," said Whisper.
"Like what?" asked Jibanyan.
"I'll have you know I can do all sorts of things I am a strong Yo-kai you know," said Whisper convincing no one.
"No, you're not," said Jibanyan, the two Yo-kai continued with their playful bickering with Nate laughing at them both all the way home little did they know that someone from the shadows was watching them.
Next day
Nate was rushing to school, normally he would only do this when he was late but today was different. Today he wasn't late today he was just running because he wanted to. Of course, Whisper and Jibanyan didn't really approve of this newfound energy.
"Nate slow down," begged Whisper panting as he and Jibanyan tried to keep up with Nate.
"Yeah, Nyate, What's the hurry?" asked Jibanyan not as tired as Whisper but still tired.
"Well I just realized if Lucas can see Yo-kai there's another person I can talk to about all this Yo-kai non-sense and it's so cool. I bet he has tons of Yo-kai friends too," said Nate practically glowing, "Plus today's Friday so I'll have all weekend to do whatever I want."
"Wait Nate aren't you still—" started Whisper.
"Hold that thought Whisper," said Nate coming to a sudden stop.
"What is it Nyate?" asked Jibanyan.
"Look," said Nate pointing towards the park on his way to school. A woman and her child came from the Park the woman brought the child to a park bench to sit down. The child looked pale and seemed like she was going to pass out, the woman looked extremely worried.
"Um… ma'am is something wrong?" asked Nate.
"Oh, yes, my daughter, she's too weak to walk, I think she is dehydrated or something, either way, she can't move." said the woman almost in a panic yet still maintaining her cool.
"Is there something I can do to help?" offered Nate.
"Oh, would you, that would be really great, here take some cash. My daughter likes Y-cola you can get some from a vending machine they're all around town. Thank you." thanked the woman. Nate nodded as he took the money and ran to find a vending machine.
"Hey Whisper and Jibanyan, do you guys know where a vending machine is?" asked Nate still running.
This shocked Whisper, "so you mean to tell me you took that woman's money and ran off without knowing?" he asked.
"Yeah, I do know there is one around here somewhere," said Nate looking around frantically.
"Oh Nyate there's one," said Jibanyan pointing to a street corner. Jibanyan was right there was one.
"Yes, great job Jibanyan," said Nate, he ran over to the vending and grabbed a Y-cola in its metal red can. Then he and Whisper and Jibanyan ran back to the woman, "Here you go ma'am."
The Woman took the can and said "Oh thank you, you really saved me there. I'm sorry but I can't repay you, and I really should. You know most kids your age wouldn't bother someone in need or they would have just taken the money and left." she was extremely grateful.
"Oh it's no problem." said Nate still a bit worried, "I just hope your daughter is fine."
"Me too you're not some average kid, good luck." said the woman with a light smile as Nate started to School again, a smile forming on his face as he waved bye.
"Thank you." groaned the daughter as she got back up. Nate just smiled and continued running off.
"Wow Nyate that was real nyice of you," said Jibanyan.
"Yes, it was, you just saved a little girl," praised Whisper with pride."
"Oh stop it, you guys I just got someone a soda." said Nate modestly, "It's not that big a deal."
When Nate got to the School he first tried looking for Lucas but to no avail so he just found Bear and Eddie and hung out with them. Eddie just talked about some video game to Bear and Bear just talked about bugs and fish. Normally Nate would try to jump into one of those topics but not today. Today Nate was just looking out for Lucas.
"And that's how you catch a giant stag," gloated Bear.
"No way, you couldn't possibly have caught one in Springdale," said Eddie with a look of disbelief.
"Just like there's no way you possibly reached that level," countered Bear.
"No, my claim against you is backed by science and logic," argued Eddie.
"Uh, well so is mine familiar with the term cheat codes," chided Bear.
"Hey, guys why are you both getting worked up about this? You guys can just show each other the bug and the video game," said Nate seeing no reason to fight.
"Oh, yeah." said both boys sheepishly.
"Well, that was weird," informed Whisper.
"Not really they do that all the time," Nate told his Yo-kai butler.
"But this time was different I think it was a Yo-kai," Whisper speculated.
"Really, where, which one?" questioned Nate as he scanned around them with his watch.
When it revealed nothing Jibanyan said, "As usual Whisper doesn't know what he's talking about."
"What everyone makes mistakes," said Whisper trying to defend himself.
"uh, Whisper," complained Nate.
"Hey, guys," greeted Katie as she joined the three boys.
"Hey, Katie," greeted Eddie.
"Hi, Katie," greeted Bear.
"Hey, Katie." greeted Nate, "What's up?"
"Oh, nothing..." said Katie but at that same moment Nate saw Lucas come in and Nate said,
"Oh yeah, that's great see ya guys in class." as he ditched his friends.
"Oh…" said Katie confused by why Nate was leaving.
"Woah what's up with Nate?" asked Bear watching as his friend left.
"Yeah, first that thing during lunch and now ditching us," said Eddie with a shrug.
"He's been so much weirder ever since that bug hunt," said Bear.
"Yeah we used to read him like a book but now it's like he's a mystery," said Eddie.
Katie was still mad Nate just ditched them not only while she was talking to him but also when she just got there. "Hmph." she fumed and then left to join her other friends.
"Wow, we just keep getting ditched," bleated Eddie.
"Yeah, it's weird how Katie never hangs with us when Nate's not around," pondered Bear.
"Hey wait Nate has a crush on her right, well maybe Katie has a crush on Nate too," insinuated Eddie.
"Naw." said Both boys.
"Hey, Lucas," called Nate as he called out to Lucas but right as Lucas looked back at Nate the bell for class rang, "huh, nevermind." Nate thought it was just a normal school day but then he remembered there was a quiz. Nate barely made it out of that class alive. He almost forgot about Lucas but when lunch finally rolled around Nate just barely caught Lucas as he walked out the door of their class.
"Oh hey, Nate, what's up?" asked the boy in a yellow sweater and grey-blue jeans, he had black hair that covered one side of his face with a fringe, and he wore rimless glasses.
"Hi Lucas, I just wanted to talk to you," said Nate.
"Oh, okay if it is about you know what meet me in the library after I grab my lunch," said Lucas with a light smile that differed from his usual neutral expression.
"Okay, so that's where you go," remarked Nate.
"Huh, oh yeah I go there to hang out with the Zoey and Lina," confirmed Lucas.
"Oh that's cool," said Nate.
"So meet me there," invited Lucas.
"You got it," Nate nodded.
The library was fairly well lit, by the open windows on its side, near the front was the librarian's desk that was well painted by the kids of the school the rest of it was mostly just shelves holding books. Near the librarian's desk and the window were a few desks for reading or doing homework, but near the back of the room was a circular chair that many kids could sit on that's where Lina and Zoey were while Lucas sat at one of the desks in the corner. Lucas silently gestured Nate to come over.
"Hi Nate," said Lucas in a whisper.
"Hey, Lucas," whispered Nate as he sat down.
"So you came to me to talk about your crush on Katie, right?" asked Lucas.
"What? No, I came to talk to you about Yo-kai," said Nate barely holding back a yell, "You can see them right?"
"Yeah, oh, that makes more sense," said Lucas realizing Nate would obviously want to talk about that.
"So you can see Jibanyan and Whisper right now?" questioned Nate.
"Yes, if you mean the red cat and white blob," said Lucas, "Hi you two."
"Hello, Lucas." Whisper introduced himself and his fellow Yo-kai, "I'm Whisper and this is Jibanyan."
"Hi nyice to meet you, I'm Jibanyan," said Jibanyan giving Lucas a smile and a wave.
"Nice to meet you two too." said Lucas smiling at them, "what do you want to know. I can't really tell you much that you probably don't know."
"Um… Well I noticed you don't wear a watch so how do you see Yo-kai?" asked Nate.
"Well, some people are born naturally able to see Yo-kai," explained Lucas.
"Oh, so does that mean you can't make Yo-kai friends?" Nate wondered.
"I may not wear a watch Nate but I do have plenty of Yo-kai friends." informed Lucas, "And I can summon them, though I rarely do."
"Okay, how do you summon them?" questioned Nate.
"Wow you ask a lot of questions Nate, but um well I do have this," said Lukas, a bit shyly as he took out what seemed to be an old stopwatch, but it had a similar design that Nate's watch had in the center. It was made of silver but painted with dark red designs that looked like nothing Nate had ever seen.
"Hmm, that symbol seems familiar," implied Whisper. Lucas then put the watch back in his pocket.
"Woah that watch was so cool," opined Nate.
"Yeah, it was," agreed Jibanyan.
"Ha, thanks. You know Nate I have never met a kid like you. I have met a few other humans who can see Yo-kai but not one that has a Yo-kai watch." Lucas told Nate.
"Wow, wait, what?" said Nate with surprise while managing to keep his voice down.
"Yes Nate very few humans have the ability to see Yo-kai let alone have a Yo-kai watch," informed Whisper.
"Only humans who Yo-kai of decently high status are allowed to give humans Yo-kai watches and even then it is extremely rare," Jibanyan mused, "If I were I high ranking Yo-kai I would give a watch to Amy but then again that watch could be more trouble than its worth."
"Yo-kai of high status?" asked Nate with confusion.
"Well in most cases it would be someone linked to the royal family of the Enma tribe or high ranking military officers or guardians," imparted Lucas.
"Wait if that's true how did Whisper get one to give me?" wondered Nate.
"Nate though it is not well known I am not only a veteran Yo-kai but I am also a decently high ranking royal adviser or was," expressed Whisper.
"Well, that or you could just be a powerful Yo-kai," suggested Lucas. Nate fought back a laugh while Jibanyan burst out laughing.
"Ha, ha." said Whisper sarcastically, "We get it I'm weak."
"But hey Nyate look on the bright side if Whisper gave you the Yo-kai watch that must mean he thinks you are worthy," said Jibanyan.
"Really Whisper," said Nate with joy of what Whisper thought of him.
"Well yeah you released me from that Crank-a-kai so of course, I thought you were worthy, I didn't know I was giving it to some average kid," teased Whisper.
"Hey, Nate is clearly not average, he seems like a great guy I mean he must be if he can handle the Yo-kai world." said Lucas first being serious then he jokingly stated, "Of course no one could possibly be that average."
"Wow and to think I was going to thank you," said Nate exasperated.
"Oops sorry, but hey Nate I have never met anyone else with a Yo-kai watch before, so I was thinking what if we had a battle," said Lucas with a determined.
"A battle?" queried Nate.
"Yeah, I'm down for that," said Jibanyan jumping up at the idea of a battle.
"I'll have you know Nate that Yo-kai battles are quite popular they usually consist of a three or six yo-kai team who clash to show their strength. It is so popular that there are still coliseums and gyms where these teams battle each other," informed Whisper.
"Of course this did lead to some Yo-kai gangs but it was originally made so Yo-kai wouldn't get into so many big wars." said Lucas, "I mean better these mini battles then giant wars."
"And Yo-kai are okay with this?" puzzled Nate.
"Yeah Nyate, nyot all of us do it some of us purfer to be peaceful most of the time but a lot of us love the thrill of battle," responded Jibanyan.
"The life of a Yo-kai can get boring that's why many of us inspirit or battle," informed Whisper.
"So what do you say, Nate?" asked Lucas, "You up for a battle?"
"Sure as long as my Yo-kai are okay with it," replied Nate.
"You know I'm in," exclaimed Jibanyan.
"I'm not sure I'd have you fight Jibanyan, you are not that strong of a Yo-kai." said Whisper as he started thinking about the tactical parts of the battle, "Nate, I will help you choose who you will send into battle, you will need a healer, a tank, an elemental fighter, a physical fighter, a—"
"I already know who I am going with." exclaimed Nate to Whisper's shock, "I am going with my most loyal Yo-kai."
"Wait, no Nate I would reconsider," said Whisper trying to get Nate to go with a more suitable team.
"Nyo way dude, Nyate already chose." said Jibanyan in a cocky manner, "And as long as I'm in there will win for sure."
"Great so let's meet up after school." said Lucas with a smile in a content tone, "this should be fun."
Meanwhile back in the cafeteria…
"Huh, it looks like Nate ditched us again," sighed Eddie.
"Yeah, he just left," complained Bear.
"Shesh. You call him average a few times and he leaves you," scoffed Eddie.
"Wow, so cold," fumed Bear.
"Well cheer up we don't need him," said Eddie faking a smile.
"Yeah, we're better off without him," said Bear. Both boys tried to assure themselves.
"Hey, guys where's Nate?" asked Katie as she came up to the guys.
"Oh he's not here he left right after he got his food," Eddie told Katie.
"What? But Nate always hangs out with you guys," said Katie, confused at why Nate left.
"Yeah but now he's got some new friends," said Bear. All three looked at each other they were all miserable without Nate, they never thought that average kid could mean so much.
Right after school ended Lucas and Nate met outside in front of the school on the track. Both with a smile on there face, Jibanyan looked pumped up ready to fight.
"Alright, I guess it's time to summon my Yo-kai, go Yo-kai medal do your thing calling Walkappa," said Nate as he flipped his a coin in the air and then placed in his Yo-kai watch. Out came a stream of pink energy as Walkappa was summoned,
Alarming!
Boom, Boom!
Walla, Walla,
Dance, Dance!
Charming!
Walkappa.
"Come out my friends, calling Komasan, Yo-kai medal do your thing," said Nate. Nate kept summoning Yo-kai after Yo-kai until he had six. His team consisted of Jibanyan, Walkappa, Komasan, a white dog lion guardian yo-kai with blue flames for eyebrows from the country, and his younger brother who looked exactly the same except he had brown flame eyebrows and was orange; Komajiro, as well as Robonyan; Jibanyan's robotic counterpart, and Shogunyan; Jibanyan's ancestor who was a legendary samurai. All of them looked ready to fight and a mysterious bond formed between all six.
"Impressive but I will show you the power of my trusted Yo-kai friends calling great spirits, with the power embedded in this watch I call upon thy," said Lucas as a strange circular symbol in the shape of a wheel with six slots formed in gold light on his watch. In those slots appeared six Yo-kai medals and the watch created a grand spiral of golden light. Lucas had summoned powerful yo-kai. First, he had a Yo-kai with long beige hair and a pair of spiky horns he wore a blazing red mask and bluish armor and was equipped with two katanas, the next was a Yo-kai with red skin, long white hair, a long nose, armed with a leaf fan, in between those two was what looked like a giant mud monster with yellow eyes and grass for hair, in the air floating above them was a female Yo-kai with fair skin, blue hair, and eyes with a clip made of ice in her hair, behind the giant of mud was a small pink snake Yo-kai with a flower blossom on its head and a heart on its tail, finally towering above even the giant mud Yo-kai a gold-skinned Oni with a red ponytail and a giant club.
"Oh no Nate." said Whisper in a worried tone, "Lucas has summoned so many incredibly powerful Yo-kai. You can't possibly win."
"Who are those Yo-kai?" asked Nate in awe at all the Yo-kai he had never seen especially the golden oni.
"Well, the one with the swords is Zerberker a Yo-kai with enough power to level a town, the one with the long nose and the fan is Tengu a deity of the winds, the giant mud guy is Dromp a being that can shape the earth by making mountains and digging lakes, and the women floating in the air is Blizzaria a powerful elemental Yo-kai who's powers at controlling the elements even rival Tengu's, the shake Yo-kai is Bloominoko an extremely rare Yo-kai who brings luck to anyone around it, and finally the giant Yo-kai made of gold is Gilgaros one of the strongest Yo-kai even among the legendary Yo-kai, said to be stronger than even Orcanos," informed Whisper.
"Wow then it's going to be hard to beat him," said Nate losing some confidence.
"Hard, try impossible," said Whisper.
"Naw we can take this team I'll handle the giant mud wall," said Jibanyan.
"Okay then I'll take the long-haired, long-nosed guy and my brother will beat the ice girl," said Komajiro.
"Um… okay," said Komasan, not exactly sure what was going on.
"So I guess that leaves me with the snake," said Walkappa.
"That means I will be fighting the enraged sword fighter," said Robonyan in his robotic voice.
"And I will honor you all with the fight of a millennium. It will be a clash between legends. I will fight this Oni and win." said Shogunyan, "Now my friends let me lead you to victory." Shogunyan led the charge forward with Jibanyan at his side and Robonyan zooming above. Komasan, Komajiro, and Walkappa stood back preparing their respective elemental attacks. Each Yo-kai was getting ready for their attacks.
"Gilgaros finish this with golden beat down." called out Lucas.
"No, Shogunyan," called Nate. The battle was rough most of Nate's Yo-kai could hardly keep up with Lucas' and even after Shogunyan used bonito blade, Bloominoko just healed them all with its own soultimate move, lucky smile. Even so, Nate's Yo-kai endured and took down most of Lucas' Yo-kai. Now it was down to just Shogunyan and Gilgaros, a clash between two legendary Yo-kai.
"Gilgaros!" shouted Gilgaros, "Golden Beatdown." Gilgaros jumped high in the sky five times higher than Dromp's height. Then it swung its massive club down hard on the legendary cat Yo-kai. Shogunyan was crushed by the might of Gilgaros' soultimate. Now all of Nate's Yo-kai were defeated.
"Thank you Gilgaros for your service," said Lucas with a bow.
"It was an honor to battle for you," said Gilgaros right before the oni left stomping off.
"You all did great out there thank you for fighting honorably," said Lucas with a warm smile.
"It was an amazing battle thank you for summoning me. Call me," said Blizzaria as she gave a wink to Komasan.
"Yeah it was so fun," said Tengu before he flew off.
"Despite the fact that you guys are puny fools you put up a great fight I am glad to have fought you," said Dromp before slow trudging away.
"That was a great way to burn off my rage and energy," said Zerberker, "I hope to battle you all again in the future if not then… you better watch your back." before jumping away.
"Good luck with that," said Bloominoko before disappearing.
"Urh." said Jibanyan, Walkappa, Komasan, and Komajiro all badly beat up.
"I'll be back," said Robonyan, then Robonyan went into a vortex to the future broken down some sparks and smoke emitting from his body, "I must go home to repair myself."
"Huh, I can't believe I lost but at least I lost to the ultimate Oni," said Shogunyan, "Thank you, Nate. It was a great honor to fight alongside not only my descendant but his wonderful friends." Shogunyan then faded away back to the past but not before bowing to Nate and the remaining Yo-kai.
"Awe, I guess you guy lost you okay Nate?" asked Whisper.
"Yeah, it was cool, and it's fine if they liked it," said Nate still optimistic.
"Yeah, Nyate that was so much fun." said Jibanyan, "Ouch." Jibanyan then fell to the floor hurt.
"Woah, Jibanyan you need to rest," said Nate worried for his friend despite the fact he was already dead.
"Yes, you were just in a fierce battle that you were never going to win," said Whisper. Nate shot a glare the Yo-kai.
"You did good Nate," said Lucas, "here give them this." Lucas tossed a packet of blue powder. Nate gave Lucas a weird look. "It's called mighty medicine. It is the quickest remedy for wounds of Yo-kai battles just sprinkle some on them."
"Okay, thanks," said Nate. He then sprinkled Jibanyan, Komasan, Walkappa, and Komajiro with some of the blue powder, and their injuries just faded away.
"Woah, I feel like I could fight an army." said Jibanyan suddenly reenergized, "Let's go, I'll destroy any truck that comes my way."
"Wow, I feel as fresh as an evening Lilly," said Komasan who started to do a little dance, "That was a wonderful battle, Nate."
"Yeah Nate it was amazing, I suppose we better thank Lucas too for that amazing powder," said Komajiro.
"Alright that was amazing dude, never thought I would be part of something that fun," said Walkappa with a fist pump.
"Yeah, you guys did great, thanks for battling for me." said Nate, "You know what dinner's on me."
"Yah!" cheered the four charming Yo-kai.
"Hey Lucas you wanna come I'll tell my parents I'm eating dinner with a friend," offered Nate.
"Sure that would be nice," said Lucas, "Where were you thinking?"
"Hey we should totally do sushi, man," said Walkappa.
"Yeah that sounds great Walkappa, we should do Sushi Nyate," said Jibanyan.
"Well my brother and I prefer Tempura," said Komajiro.
"Mmm, Tempura sounds good," said Whisper.
"Hmm, what do you think Lucas?" asked Nate.
"I'm fine either way," said Lucas.
"Hey, how 'bout we do Sukiyaki," suggested Komansan.
"That's a great idea Komasan. Everyone down for that?" asked Nate.
"Sure." said Walkappa and Komajiro.
"Sukiyaki sounds delish." said Jibanyan.
"I could go for that," said Whisper. Lucas just gave a nod.
"Okay Sukiyaki it is then," said Nate. Then Nate and his Yo-kai friends, as well as his new one, went over to the best Sukiyaki place in Springdale. To commemorate the battle as well as their friendship a bridge between the Yo-kai world and the human one. To that Nate and Lucas definitely had something to smile about.
