Chapter 46

Artemis stepped out of the infirmary,

"Is she going to be ok?" 1 of the soldiers asked,

"I can't promise anything, but she seems stable for now" She answered, she turned to Wally while pulling her phone from her pocket, "I need you to get something for me" She said as she began typing on her phone,

"What do you need?" He asked, she turned her screen to him, it was a picture of blueprints for a sniper rifle, written in the corner was the name Legion-A13, 1 of the soldiers looked over Wally's shoulder,

"That's a classified government project, how the hell do you know about it?" He asked, outraged, Artemis ignored him,

"It's 1 state over, in a military research facility" She said switching to a map and zooming in on a small empty forested area "Here, they keep it off the maps, I need the need the gun and 1 bullet, don't lose it, only 12 exist" She said,

"You can't just walk in and take it" The soldier interrupted, Artemis rolled her eyes and turned to him,

"We'll test it for you" She said, sarcasm lacing her voice,
"It's already been tested, twice" Artemis smirked,

"3 times actually, first by Star labs, then by the military, and then by me, I'm the reason you don't have 13, and now I'll be the reason you don't have 12" The soldier looked confused, he seemed unsure of the information.

"So what is this thing?" They both turned back to Wally, who now had a long black gun case at his feet,

"That took longer than usual" Artemis remarked,

"You think you can do it faster? Cause this things taller than you, and as heck of a lot heavier" He retorted, she smiled,

"It's taller then you too, 7 and a half feet long, give or take" She said admiring the sleek black case,

"So are you gonna tell me what it does?"He asked crossing his arms,

"It's an anti space-craft sniper rifle, the government commissioned Star Labs to build it so they didn't have to rely on the Justice League to fix all their problems, it's a prototype, the reason it's so big is because it has to be able to fire a 5 inch bullet straight up into an aircraft, preferably before it gets close, it's intended to lock onto whatever powers the ship but they haven't figured that out yet since every craft is different and depending on where it came from the power source could be completely unknown" Artemis explained,
"But the rest of it works?" Wally asked, the soldier was the 1 who answered,

"It works, it could tear clean through a tank and keep going" He said, "What makes you think you can hit anything important without the targeting system?" He asked Artemis,
"I'm the only 1 here who's test fired the weapon, I've also been on board 1 of the ships already, I'll have an easier time finding the engine room" The soldier nodded hesitantly, still contemplating his options,

"Ok, but if that weapon goes missing, we'll be coming for your ass, understand?" Artemis nodded,

"Ok, K F What's the tallest building in Metropolis?" She asked, he disappeared for a second,

"Lex Tower, cause apparently having a building shaped like the first letter of his name wasn't enough, someone's compensating for something" He said, chuckling at his own joke,

"Hey, don't be disrespectful" 1 of the other soldiers snapped,

"Didn't realize you guys were fans" Wally said,

"I'm not, but I won't have you disrespecting the dead" Wally threw his hands up in front of him in apology,

"I didn't know, swear" The soldier softened slightly,

"He died trying to help her" He used his chin to indicate toward the infirmary,

"We need to get going, get the gun to the roof and come back for me" Artemis interrupted,

"You better be glad that case is on wheels."

When the missile hit the Tamaranean ship Kommand'r seized the opportunity, blue fire shot from her palms, the Citadel soldier's were already off balance and they fell to the floor as they avoided the flames, she shot forward and kicked 1 of them in the neck, she swung her left elbow backwards and struck the other in the back of the head, Kori watched for a second before running across the room to Barbara, she wrapped an arm around her and half dragged her from the ships command center.

She made her way down a series of dimly lit passageways making as many random turns as possible, eventually she pushed open a heavy metal door, and dragged Barbara into the engine room, the sounds of the engine roared throughout the the room, Kori propped her against a wall, Barbara groaned,

"Are you ok?" Kori asked, Barbara's hands went to her left ear, like she had a headache, she was beginning to regain use of her limbs but her head was still spinning,

"Kori" She tried to push herself up, but her arms gave out underneath her,

"Don't move, we're safe her" Kori assured her, Barbara settled back against the wall, the door burst open.
