Chapter 48
When Wally and Artemis arrived back at the tower Supergirl was in the lobby talking to Wondergirl, Beast Boy, the 4 soldiers and a new squad with 2 men and 3 women,
"What's going on?" Wally asked,
"We've got enemy forces converging on the tower, by the sounds of it a shit ton" Wondergirl answered,
"Do we have a plan?" Artemis asked,
"We're gonna setup Alpha and Bravo a couple floors up, they'll cover us, Supergirl, Beast Boy and I will hold them off on the ground" Wondergirl explained,
"I'm with you" Wally nodded,
"I'll get more arrows," Artemis said.
Kori helped Barbara down a corridor, steam hissed through pipes above their heads as the none damaged engines worked overtime to keep the ship in the air, there was movement at the end of the passage, Kommand'r stepped forward, Barbara instinctively put herself between the sisters,
"The General?" Kommand'r asked quietly,
"He's dead" Barbara answered, the younger Tamaranean nodded silently,
"Then I guess it's over" She said.
"What is that?" Kori asked, the 2 listened, Kommand'r heard it first, her eyes widened,
"Shit, the gateway" She muttered,
"It's here?" Kori asked,
"What is the gateway?" Barbara asked,
"If Tamaran ever got into a fight it's army couldn't win the royal ship was equipped with the gateway, it's a teleportation device that would allow us to get back to Tamaran, we could shut it off on that end and the end left behind would just keep growing, leaving an endless blackhole that would swallow our enemies" Kori explained.
Artemis knelt by a window 4 floors up in the Titan Tower, she had her bow drawn, an arrow ready to be fired, she saw the Citadel army approaching slowly, maybe 200 gorilla like aliens moving in a large swarm toward them, she chose her target and fired,
"Fire" The leaders of the 3 military squads shouted from the floor above, gun fire erupted from the fifth floor, the army continued it's advance, trampling its fallen soldiers before their bodies hit the concrete.
As the army closed in Artemis began firing sleeping gas arrows randomly into the crowd, Supergirl and Kid Flash charged forward to meet their opponents while Beast Boy and Wondergirl held back to catch the the first soldiers who made it through.
Barbara, Kori and Kommand'r reached the gateway control room, the large vortex was pulling at the corners of the room, the metal panels shaking with the force,
"Can you stop it?" Kori asked as Barbara surveyed the alien machinery,
"I don't think so, I don't read Tamaranean, and this isn't like anything on earth" Barbara answered, for the first time Kori noticed the blood dripping down from Barabara's ear,
"Are you ok?" She asked,
"I'm fine" Barbara answered, she was pale, " We have to find some way to shut this off" She said,
"We can stop it" They both turned to Kommand'r,
"How?" Barbara asked,
"Incase the control panels malfunctioned the gateway was built to allow the royal family to close it, with fire."
Hey I apologize for the radio silence I got sick and then a bunch of shit came up, but I'm back, kinda, I might not post new chapters until after the new year, just cause things are crazy right now, but when I come back I'll hopefully be able to post a little more frequently I want to finish up season 1 before I take another break before coming back with season 2, I'm currently working on the next chapter so either this chapter or that 1 will be the last before Christmas, thank you for reading, sorry again for disappearing.
