Chapter 50
Kommand'r shot fire into the Gateway entrance behind her as soon as she passed through it, the light it had provided was gone instantly, she was travelling forward quickly toward the light from the exit, and then she wasn't, for a second she was held floating still in the thick air before the air reversed suddenly and she was slammed backwards, she tried using fire to propel herself toward the exit, without the entrance the Tamaranean Gateway exit had nowhere to pull from so it had reversed and become a black hole on Tamaran, several large metal weapons boxes were pulled into the void, Kommand'r avoided the first but the second collided with her, it carried her downward out of the air current created by the black hole, as she was pushed down the air became thicker until it became so thick that it became solid enough to catch her, the metal box that had carried her down floated away with from the resistance, Kommand'r pulled herself to her knees and was hit by a sudden quietness, a noise she hadn't even noticed had been there was gone, at the same time the light from the Tamaranean Gateway disappeared.
Kori entered the dark void, the steel cable attached to her harness followed behind her, she searched the dark blue nothingness for her sister, it wasn't until her third time scanning the empty space that surrounded her that she saw Kommand'r, Kori used her fire to move down toward her,
"Komi" She called out, it seemed to take several seconds to reach Kommand'r, who eventually looked up with confusion,
"What are you doing here?" She asked, as Kori landed near her on the thick floor of air.
Instead of answering Kori went to pull her sister in for a hug, but was interrupted by the realization that Kommand'r was translucent,
"What's going on? Are you ok?" She asked,
"I don't know, I don't feel great" Tears rolled down Kommand'rs face, she was shivering, Kori pulled her into a tight hug, she felt hollow, like holding a helium filled gallon,
"It's ok, Barbara's gonna pull us out in less than a minute, it's gonna be ok" Kori said, trying to sound reassuring,
"I'm sorry Kori" Kori felt her slipping through her arms,
"It's fine, it's ok, just come back with me, we'll figure things out, please" Kori opened her eyes, everything was blurry with tears, but she could barely see Komi because of how much the dark blue of the void was showing through her,
"Kori, Kori, please don't leave me, Kori" Kommand'r cried, looking around confused,
"I'm still here" Kori reached for her sister, but she was completely gone,
"Kori, times up, I'm bringing you back" Kori barely understood Barbara's voice in her ear, her head felt dull and empty.
Artemis, Kid Flash, and the Titans sat on the ground outside the entrance to The Titan Tower, they were surrounded by the dead and unconscious Citadel soldiers, Robin was in the lobby talking with the 3 military squads,
"Do you think it's over?" Beast Boy asked, to no one in particular,
"I hope so, I'm starving" Prophet said, her head resting on Supegirl's chest,
"Me too, I ran out of snacks an hour ago" Kid Flash agreed,
"You carry around snacks" Prophet laughed, "Wish I'd thought of that" Her smile faded after a second,
"I hope Barbara and Kori are ok" She said, Supergirl put her arms around her,
"I'm sure they are, Batgirl wouldn't let anything happen" She said, before adding "When Robin's done, we'll go find them"
Suddenly Artemis stood up,
"Guys, I think that spaceship's coming down faster than it should be" She asked, staring into the sky, the group looked up to see 1 of the Tamaranean ships falling toward the bay.
