Chapter 10
Monday- an interesting introduction to a conclusion of fifth grade
AN: yeah I did a lot of planning so sorry for the wait but let's just say I got the next 7-9 chapters ready in my mind I just need to put pen to paper (Don't know why that's just my favorite phrase.) But yeah Nate's final week of school is going to be anything but normal. Again so sorry for the wait and the sorry excuse for a chapter. Hope you like it.

So it had been a couple of days since the Yo-kai "Invasion." and things were starting to get back to normal. I first day everyone was freaking out about how bad the day before was how chaotic it was but they also started to question why they thought it was real. Before long everyone started to doubt what they saw. By Monday it was just old news which was good for both Nate and Lucas who were both half annoyed half worn out by the chaos. They really just wanted to forget it happened sure people kept bringing it up but now it was just a joke or barely taken seriously. There were a few people who were still extremely interested like Lina and Zoey, and other kids in the school, as well as a few adults but they, didn't go that far. So now the final week of school arrived and both boys and the rest of the school couldn't wait. It was pretty peaceful Nate was a bit more relaxed since Lucas helped Nate take down some Yo-kai as well as both just being nice to them. Lucas being able to help Nate was a huge relief to Nate since he wasn't alone in fighting the daily annoyances of Yo-kai mischief. He and Lucas were getting really close like best friends. In fact today Nate and Lucas were hanging out in the library together. They were just talking about how everyone basically just forgot about the Yo-kai. It was like they were all inspirited by Wazzat or something. They also talked about what they were doing for the summer. Neither Boy had anything planned but they both couldn't wait.
Meanwhile back in the cafeteria… Katie was spending a lot more time with her other friends than Eddie and Bear. That just left Bear and Eddie alone.
"Alone Again." sighed Bear.
"Hey, at least we got each other," said Eddie.
"Yeah but I sure wish Nate and Katie would come back it like we don't even exist to them anymore," said Bear.
"You're right but it's not like we can just sit down with Katie or Nate," said Eddie.
"Yeah, how does Nate just sit with Katie all the time and not get embraced?" asked Bear. The reason they didn't sit with Katie was because both their crushes sat with Katie making it hard to feel relaxed and the reason they couldn't sit with Nate was because they were kicked out of the Library because Bear was being too loud and because Lina and Zoey preferred to be in the Library Lucas liked to be in there too and that's why Nate was in the Library. Sure Nate was still around but he wasn't around even half as much and when he was he was usually weird, talking to people that weren't there they never confronted him about it but they noticed it from time to time and so did few other kids but no one really acted upon it. He didn't catch bugs as much or play video games. Bear and Eddie were busy too so they couldn't really find the time to hang out either. Bear was usually bored by Eddie's projects and Eddie didn't really read comics so they couldn't really talk about those things.
"Well, we might have been able to talk to him if someone wasn't being too loud," Eddie remarked.
Angry rose up in Bear, "I'm sorry this is my inside voice okay!" Bear shouted.
"Well it's not quite enough you idiot," said Eddie. Now people were paying attention to the argument.
"What did you call me. You rich spoiled brat," said Bear.
"You wanna go there, fine you stupid, brutish, nimrod," said Eddie.
"You're a stuck up little piece of—" started Bear.
"Both of you stop!" shouted Katie getting between them, "You're both idiots. You shouldn't be fighting you're friends."
"Yeah sorry Eddie," said Bear.
"Me too sorry man," said Eddie.
"That's better," said Katie going back to sit with her friends.
"Oh that reminds me, hey dude do you want to hang out today I was able to get Nate to come to my house so we could go up to mount wildwood and search for some bugs?" asked Bear.
"That will be cool awe but I can't today my dad is having this important dinner or whatever." said Eddie, "But I hope you two have fun."
"Thanks, dude," said Bear.
After School Nate left for his house so he could grab his bug net.
"Woah Nate, slow down what's the rush this time?" asked Whisper.
"Oh Today I'm hanging out with Bear and we're going to Mount Wildwood to catch some bugs," said Nate.
"Oh just you two no Katie, no Eddie, no Lucas?" asked Whisper.
"Nope everyone else is busy and I haven't really hung out with Bear without Eddie, Lucas, or Katie in a while," said Nate.
"Hm must have been a while because I can hardly picture the boy without his headphone-wearing companion why does he even wear those?" asked Whisper.
"Ha yeah, I don't know either I think he just likes the look I know he isn't listening to anything at school. But you know that reminds me my two friends remind me of Yo-kai," said Nate.
"Oh, well which ones?" asked Whisper.
"Well, when I think of them I sometimes think of Rhinoggin and Beetler," said Nate.
"Ah yes, Bear is the more headstrong muscular Rhinoggin and Eddie is the more strategical minded Beetler," said Whisper.
"Exactly and it doesn't hurt the fact that Bear's favorite bug is the Rhinoceros Beetle it's the rarest bug in his collection and Eddie's favorite is the Stag Beetle he doesn't have it but he knows one day he'll catch it," said Nate. Nate and Whisper then came back into the house where Nate rushed up the stairs to grab his bug net. He then darted out to head over to Bear's house which was right by Timers and More. On the way there though Nate ran into a slightly younger student who seemed to be running from her mother. Unfortunately, Nate was in the way and the girl's mother caught up and grabbed her by the arm.
"Uh, no I was so close." said the girl in despair.
"I already told you, you can't go see your friend until after you finish your homework." said the mother.
"But, Mom I did finish my homework." complained the girl.
"And you have to do your chores." said the mother.
"But mom I did those in the morning and besides I PROMISED," said the girl.
"I don't care if you promised you have responsibilities." said the Mom.
Nate got a suspicious feeling, "Hey Whisper I think there is a Yo-kai behind this," said Nate, he then started to scan around with his watch.
"Oh, Nate when are you going to accept that sometimes things like this happen. Sometimes people just aren't fair even parents," said Whisper.
"Found it," said Nate. It was a brown blowfish Yo-kai that seemed to be angry for some reason.
"Wah!" said Whisper dumbfounded.
"Whisper who is that Yo-kai?" asked Nate, "he looks familiar."
"Oh, that's um Blowkade and he was one of the Yo-kai that was at the riot of the seals with all the fish yo-kai," said Whisper, "I doubt it is the same one."
"Hey you," said Blowkade, "We got a score to settle." Nate and Whisper both panicked. Blowkade darted over to them and said, "Sorry me and my friends attacked you a few days ago it was mostly because we were driven mad by the power of the auras in this city being unleashed."
Nate and Whisper were both surprised but Nate said, "Oh, well it's okay I guess I mean you weren't doing it on purpose so why should I be mad at you. Um, but can you stop inspiriting this girl's mother please it sounds like it's important."
Blowkade said, "I don't normally move out of the way for other people but since you did forgive me and stop this town from being destroyed I guess I'll make an exception this time."
Nate said, "Thanks I really appreciate it."
Blowkade said, "You're welcome but this is only a one time deal next time I see you, you are going to have to battle me."
Nate said, "Okay." Blowkade then walked away.
Whisper said, "I hope he doesn't inspirit anyone else today."
Nate said, "Me too but hey at least this girl gets to go hang out with her friends."
Whisper said, "Speaking of friends shouldn't you get going."
Nate looked at his watch and said, "Oh yeah you're right I need to get to Bear's quickly." Nate ran and made it to Bear's home which was also his Dad's workshop. There were tons of workers there but they all looked sweaty and hot.
Nate came over to Bear's dad and asked, "Hey Mr. Bernstein why is everyone so hot?"
Mr. Bernstein said, "I don't know Nate, it's not that hot yet outside but it just seems to be trapped in our house most of my workers are saying it's too hot to work and I think Bear and his mother are burning up inside. My wife almost fainted. Bear is probably up in his room on the roof it's even hot up there."
Nate said, "Okay thank you." Nate then went inside Bear's house and felt that it was really hot.
Whisper said, "Nate I bet this is the work of the Yo-kai Swelton he is a Yo-kai that can make things extremely hot and cause people to sweat."
Nate said, "Okay then." Nate then flipped open his watch luckily for him Mrs. Bernstein was too hot to notice Nate. He searched around and saw nothing.
Whisper said, "What that's not right there is no way that this house is this hot."
Nate said, "I agree maybe the Yo-kai isn't here."
Whisper said, "No there isn't a Yo-kai who can make things this hot without being in the place."
Nate said, "Okay. Hey Mrs. Bernstein."
Mrs. Bernstein looked with surprise to see Nate, "Oh hey there Nate how have you been? If you are looking for Bear he is just up in his room."
Nate said, "Okay. Thanks." Nate then ran up the stairs to Bear's room which was on the roof of his house. Nate then scanned the roof.
Whisper said, "Nate give it up there is no Yo-kai here it is just the weird ventilation of Bear's house."
Nate asked, "Hey Whisper who are those Yo-kai?" Whisper was dumbfounded again seeing the group of water droplet Yo-kai.
Whisper got out his Yo-kai pad quickly searched and then said, "Those are one second oh right Droplettes. These pesky little Yo-kai can make any place humid or damp. That explains why it's so hot here."
The lead Droplette came forth and said, "So you can see us that's weird but don't think just because you can see us mean we'll stop inspiriting this place this is the only home we got."
Nate said, "I don't want to fight you guys. I just want you to stop making it super humid at my friend's place you are making everyone here miserable."
The lead droplette said, "No way we like it here we get a rooftop view and this place is close to a good water source."
Nate asked, "The river?"
The lead Droplette said, "No, the sewers duh."
Whisper said, "That is just disgusting." All of the Droplettes then shot Whisper with a gush of water.
Nate asked, "What was that for?"
The lead Droplette said, "He insulted our birthplace."
Nate asked, "Birthplace?"
Whisper recovered from his soaking and said, "Well you see Nate these ruffians are born of water that was wasted every drop counts you know."
Nate said, "I'm still confused."
Whisper said, "Nate what I am trying to say is that there are a lot of leaks in the sewer system."
Nate said, "That's horrible how."
The Droplettes said, "There are too many of us."
Whisper said, "Yes wasting water is a huge problem for your generation, Nate."
Nate said, "Sorry I didn't know this was such a big issue."
The lead Droplette said, "Well it is."
Nate said, "Well now I know, so I'll try my best to try to do my part in saving water."
The Droplette leader said, "Thank you but it is not just you, it is everyone in the world they take water for granted and we pay the price."
Nate said, "But we there are some of us trying our best."
The Droplette leader said, "True I guess but it's not enough."
Nate said, "Hmm I got an idea what if I make some posters about water wastage to inform people how to save water."
The Droplette leader said, "That's stupid no one ever reads posters."
Nate said, "Hmm what if I get my whole school into it."
The Droplette leader said, "Hmm let me discuss this idea with my fellow Droplette." The Droplettle huddled together and whispered amongst each other. "Okay we have made a decision we like your idea if you get your whole school into it that will save a lot of water but we are holding you to it if this doesn't work you will pay."
Nate sweatdropped and Whisper said, "Oh no need to worry I assure you that Nate here will keep his word. He is a very honest boy."
The lead Droplette said, "Well it isn't every day that you see a kid who can see Yo-kai so I guess we will leave your friend's place for now. Droplette out." then all five Droplette disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Nate said, "Thanks Whisper for having my back."
Whisper said, "What is a Yo-kai butler for and I will remind you about it after you get home."
Nate said, "Oh yeah Bear. Almost forgot." Nate then went into Bear's room where he was passed out on his bed. Nate came up to him and he snapped awake.
Bear said, "Huh, what, oh hey Nate sorry about being passed out I guess it was just really hot when I got home."
Nate said, "Don't worry about it come on let's go we still got time to go catch some bugs."
Bear said, "Yeah just let me grab my net." and like that Nate and Bear were off to mount wildwood in a race with the ghostly butler happily chasing after them. Bear's house was going to be cool for the rest of the day. To the delight of Bear's whole family.
The two boys got to the overgrown wild mountainous ground where Nate fatefully met Whisper and Nate's life was changed forever. It didn't have much to offer if you weren't that interested in nature. It had a shrine but that was about it. It had an observation deck where people could view the city but it was quite the hike. There was Catfish Pond which was Bear's favorite place to fish and an old abandon tunnel but Nate was a little worried to travel there. Next was both boys' least favorite part the long long staircase up to the shrine. They both have made the climb a multitude of times but it was tiring every time. Still, the two boys raced up the stairs but Nate met an unexpected stop. Bear passed Nate but when Nate tried to catch up he was stopped.
"Hey Nate's what's up?" asked Bear.
Nate said, "Uh, oh nothing I am just getting tired you go ahead without me I'll catch up."
Whisper said, "Hm I think you are being stopped by a familiar face." as Bear left.
Nate asked, "What?" then he scanned around with his watch and there was Blowkade right in front of Nate blocking his way.
Blowkade said, "Hello again sorry for the inconvenient but I did tell you next time we met that I would be forced to block your path."
Whisper said, "Quickly Nate summon a Yo-kai to battle him."
Nate said, "Okay then, come on out my Yo-kai friend, calling Cadin." Nate pulled out his medal for the cicada Yo-kai and flipped in the air. "Yo-kai medal do your thing." Nate caught the coin and inserted the coin into his watch which then sent out a spiral of pink light.

The insect Yo-kai that came asked, "How can I severe you Nate?"
Nate said, "Cadin I need you to take this guy down."
Cadin said, "No Problem."
Blowkade said, "Yes time for a good workout." The two Yo-kai fought for a few minutes and despite Blowkade being a very defensive Yo-kai, Cadin darted through trees jumping tree to tree. Blowkade wasn't able to hit Cadin since he moved so fast but while Cadin couldn't attack directly because of Blowkade's spikes, Cadin was able to attack by creating sharp blades of wind by fiercely swinging his sword.
"Haha, you have proven your strength I yield," said Blowkade who was exhausted from the wind attacks. Blowkade fell to his knee in pain.
"You were hard to beat besides I just had the advantage I just know the forests better," said Cadin.
"Hmm You could be right but either way that was a great battle here is my medal," said Blowkade as he gave his medal to Nate. Blowkade then disappeared in a puff of smoke.
"Thanks, Cadin but how am I going to catch up with Bear," said Nate.
"Not to worry Nate I can help you go fast," said Cadin.
"It's true when he inspirits someone he gives them a good singing voice and the speed of a cicada. He can also summon cicadas for bug catching." said Whisper looking at his Yo-kai pad.
"Okay then. Cadin inspirit me," said Nate.
"Okay min min," said Cadin hitting Nate with a purple aura. Nate felt energized and then he sprinted faster than he ever had before, almost like he was flying. With both Cadin and Whisper following not far behind. Whisper was able to keep up because he was being pulled by Cadin who was going as fast as Nate. Nate soon caught up to Bear who was at the shrine. Talking to the old man who was usually up at the shrine.
Nate came up to both and said, "Hey Bear, finally made it."
Bear said, "Took you long enough but you made it just in time this old dude was telling
me about how the cats that live here haven't been seen lately this guy is really worried about them."
Nate asked, "You wanna help him?"
Bear said, "Yeah I do I mean you said you wanted to help people right."
Nate said, "Yeah. Oh and we can catch bugs along the way."
Bear said, "Okay yeah now let's go find some cats."
Cadin said, "What a noble quest indeed I shall join you on your quest for bugs and
cats."
Whisper said, "Hmm well this should be fun with all the Yo-kai business you have had
today this should be a nice change of pace." and just like that the two boys ran off to search for the cats and hunt some bugs. The two boys searched for a while. Bear caught a grasshopper, a ladybug, a long-horned beetle, a pray mantic, and a rhino beetle while Nate only caught cicadas because he was still being inspirited by Cadin.
"Wow I can't believe how many cicadas you caught Nate it's like they are attracted to you," said Bear, Nate shot Cadin and Whisper a glare which Cadin was oblivious to and Whisper was confused by, "Maybe they are attracted to how average you are they are the average bug," Bear said with a chuckle.
"How dare you." raged both Nate and Cadin but Nate said it quite enough so his friend wouldn't hear him.
"Woah look I think we found our missing cats," said Bear. Bear pointed to a little old shack that looked abandoned and broken down. There were many cats inside cowering from something despite the fact there was nothing there. Bear went over to the cats and said, "Here kitty kitty you can come out now the Talisman man is worried about you. Come on out please."
Nate stared at the cats for a moment and determined, "Hmm I think there is a Yo-kai behind this."
Whisper brushed it off and said, "No way Nate you already encountered two different Yo-kai today there is no way in the universe that you could have three Yo-kai problems in one day."
Cadin said, "I disagree I think it is a Yo-kai too Nate."
Nate said, "Thanks Cadin." Nare then scanned around with his watch and there it was Manjimutt.
Whisper's jaw dropped while Nate just said, "Manjimutt what are you doing here."
The Manjimutt responded, "Oh I am not the same Manjimutt you are familiar with that one got sent to jail this morning for breaking out of jail again."
Nate asked, "Well at least this time I didn't do it but can you stop terrorizing these cats?"
The Manjimutt said, "No, what else would I do. I just love to scare cats it's the only fun thing I get to do."
Cadin said, "Fear not I shall defeat this hideous beast." Cadin then pulled out his sword and charged the dog Yo-kai.
The Manjimutt said, "Ugly how dare you I'll teach you some manners." The Manjimutt then bit Cadin's sword and swung him into a tree then proceed to beat up the bug Yo-kai.
Whisper said, "I think Cadin needs some help, Nate."
Nate said, "I know just who's right for the job. Come on out my Yo-kai friend calling Jibanyan, Yo-kai medal do your thing." and with the flip of a coin Nate's watch sent out a pink spiral of light.

The red Cat Yo-kai came out and said, "Uhh why'd you call me Nyate I know I told you I nyeeded more training but I just did some exercises with Sargent Burly and nyow I was taking a break to watch some Nyext Harmeowny."
Whisper said, "I know you deserve that but right now we have a crisis a Manjimutt is bullying all these cats."
Jibanyan sprang to attention and bubbled with rage, "did you say a dog was bullying some cats. The only thing I could possibly hate as much as trucks are mean dogs especially when they are mean to cats. Oh, I'm going to beat this guy to a pulp. Nyan." Cadin then landed right in front of them all beat up and then followed the unsuspecting Manjimutt who ran right into Jibanyan's paws of fury. After a few punches, Jibanyan sent the Manjimutt flying so far he was out of sight.
Cadin said, "Thank you, my fellow warrior, you were amazing min min."
Jibanyan huffed, "Anything for a few cats nyow come on Cadin our work here is done let's go watch some Nyext Harmeowny."
Cadin said with delight, "Oh yes that sounds fun let's go." The two Yo-kai then left.
Nate said, "Thanks you two."
Whisper said, "and now with that Manjimutt out of the way the cats can walk around Mount Wildwood peacefully."
Bear said, "Here kitty kitty." and this time they came out of course they just ignored the boy and left for the shrine.
Nate said, "Good job Bear you got the cats to come out now let's go to the old man and tell him what happened."
Bear said, "Yeah let's go to the Talisman man." Nate and Bear followed by Whisper then left to go see the Talisman man again. On the way, Nate told Bear about his plan to get people to save water.
"Hmm yeah I could help you with that," said Bear as they got to the shrine.
The old man came up to them and said, "I don't know what you did but it certainly worked all the cats are back. I can't thank you enough for this. Here take these." The Talisman man gave both boys two bracelets; one rusted and old the other a spiked heavier bracelet, two wooden rings, one old grey charm, and one old red charm, and finally two simple badges.
Bear said, "Sweet thanks."
Nate said, "Yeah thank you."
The old man said, "These cats bring me joy so thank you, two boys, for finding them."
Bear and Nate said, "No problem." The two boys then made their way down Mount Wildwood since it was getting late. Bear took the power brace while he said, "I'll take this one you can have the rest of this trash Nate." Nate was fine with it since it was all Yo-kai equipment anyway but Whisper wanted to protest since it was the strongest item in there. On the way down they talked a little more about the water-saving idea but then Nate saw something.
Nate said, "Woah look over there." Nate pointed to a stump where there was a dorcus stag beetle just crawling on the stump.
Bear said, "Shh be very quiet and make no sudden movements." Then very carefully Bear got closer and then quickly and masterfully caught the stag in his net.
Nate said, "Yeah!"
Bear said, "Good eyes Nate."
Nate said, "Nice catch. Eddie would love this we should give it to him."
Bear said, "Agreed." The two boys then continued to walk home with a sense of joy because that one bug made them feel like all three of their best friends were with them. That was a great day for Nate Adams despite the rough start and it was only Monday.
AN: So this probably wasn't worth the wait but I tried my best and I had a lot on my plate last week so this was the best I could do. Still Hope you liked it please review.
