Chapter 13

Thursday- The lost and found.

AN: Okay so chapter 13 is done it didn't come out exactly how I wanted it to but I tried my best with it so I hope it turned out well. So this mini-story arc is almost done there is just one more chapter after this. Last time it was mostly a filler focused around a quest this one is not that this one is the beginning of the end of this arc it really ties somethings together. Anyways Hope you like it, please enjoy.

Today was the day it was Thursday there were only two days until school was over for this year and they would all be done with fifth grade and it would be summer vacation. Only today and Friday left and today was the day, the day Bear was going to tell Lulu that he had a crush on her. Now if only a certain boy could tell his crush that he liked her too. There was only one problem Eddie couldn't decide which girl he liked. He didn't know if he liked Shelly or if he liked the girl he saw at the mall. It was confusing him he liked Shelly because she was cute the way she acted shy all the time, she was pretty smart too she wasn't a know-it-all like Sarah and himself but she had some of the best grades in the class but she was modest and never showed off her grades and Eddie just wanted to know her better see what her brightest smile looked like and he didn't just get that off a book that he read or on some site online. It was just how he felt but then he saw the girl at the mall she wore pink and a bow on her head with glimmering eyes that sparkled brighter than any diamond in any museum or any star or quasar or something else that Eddie could see through his telescope. It wasn't just her looks either though she was extremely pretty she probably found a better guy anyway but Eddie could tell from the way she moved and walked that she was bold, brave, and daring, unlike anything he had seen before and lastly he knew she was kind since she took the time to help a few little kids find their way to their parents. Also whenever he was around either girl he got a weird feeling in his chest and a heat in his cheeks that he could only assume were signs of a crush. Bear had it easy he only had a crush on Lulu and only Lulu ever since kindergarten when they were little. Lulu showed no signs of liking Bear back but then again Eddie, Bear, and Nate were all somewhat obvious to girls like most boys they didn't have a clue. Yet yesterday Bear just randomly decided that he would tell Lulu how he felt. This was after school so Eddie was the only one to know. Bear had asked Eddie to make sure he went through with it but also begged him not to tell anyone else not even Nate. That got him thinking though about crushes. It was just elementary school no way there were going to get into actual relationships yet but it still felt weird like he had to tell his crush yet he also couldn't it was so weird. He tried to stop thinking about it but the thoughts just stayed in his head. He lied awake at night unable to sleep but it was already morning now so Eddie had to get ready for school he usually woke up at five on the morning to get ready he wore his signature outfit consisting of a white collared undershirt a pair of jeans rolled up to fit and his favorite green jacket. To complete the look he wore his orange headphones. Then he made his own breakfast since neither of his parents were home that day they were coming on Friday but they weren't there today so he made himself some breakfast and lunch he was used to it this way. Then he prepared his backpack filling it with his books and his school supplies like pens, pencils, and paper. He checked his homework one more time and then put it in his bag. Then he checked he had his keys and left the house locked as he got ready to walk to school. On his way there Eddie had met up with Hailey Anne and Jessica. They would meet up every now and then and walk to school together.

Hailey said, "Psych! What's up Eddie."

Jessica asked, "How are you?"

Eddie said, "I am doing good what about you two."

Hailey said, "I am feeling psyched I can't believe school is almost over so cool. I can't wait for summer."

Jessica said, "Me too but um… a little less 'psyched' still I am doing good."

Hailey asked, "Anything interesting happen this week to you, Eddie? Nothing that cool or exciting has happened to us." ending with a sad, disappointed face.

Jessica said, "Hey. Well, I guess it is true."

Eddie said, "No not really. Why would my life be interesting?"

Hailey said, "I don't know I guess I was just wondering."

Eddie said, "Um well I guess something has been bothering me." but he regretted saying that to these two girls both flashed twin grins but one was paired with knowing eyes the others were filled with mischief.

Hailey squealed, "Oh you have a crush don't you!"

Jessica asked "who is it? Is it someone from our school?"

Eddie said, "Um well that's my problem I have a crush on two girls and I can't decide on who I like more."

Hailey said, "Oooh interesting."

Jessica said, "Well hmmm… why can't you decide."

Eddie said, "I thought I knew who I like but then another girl came into my life and I don't know who to confess to. I like both girls I just can't decide they are complete opposites."

Jessica said, "Well then maybe your not ready to tell either of them yet."

Eddie said, "I guess so."

Hailey joked, "I hope you don't have a crush on us." All three kids laughed at that.

Nate was ready for school. It was the second to last day and he was ready Jibanyan was still asleep he wasn't coming anyway but Whisper was wide awake and ready to help Nate through his day. Nate hoped his day would be yo-kai less but then Whisper said,

"Nate. Nate."

Nate asked, "What is it?" as he finished up his breakfast his mom made.

Whisper said, "We got a request on the kai-net. It is our first time getting a request from a Yo-kai."

Nate asked, "Okay who is it from?" as he went to put his dish away before grabbing his backpack. "Bye mom," he said as he left the house ready for school.

Whisper said, "It is from Walkappa he has lost his bottle and wants help to find it he thinks it might be somewhere by the water canals."

Nate said, "Hmm well I'll deal with that after school but maybe you could contact the Droplette, Duchoo, Snotolong, and Coughkoff if they can look for it."

Whisper said, "Okay Nate. That is a great idea."

Nate said, "Thanks I just figure they are nearby since the canals are connected to the sewers."

Whisper said, "Still great thinking. I will ask them on the kai net."

Nate said, "Come on I still need to get to school you can do that during my class time."

Whisper said, "Oh yes, and it is almost the end of the school year only today and tomorrow I bet you are excited."

Nate said, "Yeah it's about to be summer." The Yo-kai and the human were stopped in awe and surprise though when they got to Nate's school. Nate and Whisper saw Bear with a single little flower came up to Lulu and said, "Ummm… Lulu…"

The girl in question turned around slowly, "Yes Bear?"

Bear said, "Ummm… I, er, have had a crush on you for a long time. Since kindergarten… so umm… I guess I am here to ask, … will you got out with me?"

Lulu said, "Sure." with a big smile.

Bear felt a wave of relief wash over him and he said, "Yes! Thank you universe." Bear asked, "So you um… wanna hold hands or something."

Lulu said, "Why not." and she took Bear's bear claw of a hand with her smaller hand."

Nate and Whisper said, "WUH?!"

Nate said, "Wow I can't believe Bear did it he actually got a girlfriend."

Whisper said, "It's not that hard to believe he is a nice guy and pretty strong and handsome too but the fact that his crush also likes he back is incredible."

Nate said, "That's unbelievable? Really Whisper I bet it happens all the time."

Whisper said, "Sure Nate, Sure."

Nate said, "Why you think there is a Yo-kai."

Whisper said, "Don't be ridicul— actually you might be right for once this could be the work of Yo-kai. Do you remember Cupistol? He could be behind this."

Nate said, "Maybe." but he scanned around with his watch and found nothing.

Maya came up to Nate and said, "Well it's obvious that she is just being nice and she feels bad for him."

Nate was startled but asked, "Really?"

Maya said, "Yeah Lulu doesn't really like Bear in that way she has a crush on someone else."

Whisper said, "I told you, Nate."

Nate said, "That sucks then."

Maya said, "Yeah but a least Bear looks happy."

Nate said, "but Lulu must be feeling weird. How can she just lie to Bear's face like that."

Maya said, "She isn't lying she is dancing around the truth."

Nate said, "I don't follow."

Maya said, "Of course you wouldn't. You're a guy." Then Eddie ran up to Nate.

Eddie said, "*huff* Nate did you see what happened. *huff* Bear has a girlfriend."

Maya said, "No he doesn't they're not even in a relationship."

Eddie said, "But they were holding hands as they walked to class."

Maya said, "That obviously doesn't mean anything."

Eddie said, "So does that mean I can just hold any girl's hand."

Maya said, "No that not what I meant." Maya was starting to get annoyed.

Eddie said, "Then what did you mean." with a smirk.

Maya said, "Urh if you don't stop it this instant I will tell Shelly you have a crush on her."

Nate said shocked, "How do you know that?"

Maya said, "I know a lot of things Nate."

Eddie said, "Well you can't tell her if I tell her first."

Nate, Maya, and Whisper all said, "You're telling her too."

Eddie said, "Um maybe I don't know I thought I had a crush on her but then I saw another girl too."

Maya said, "Oh you better not break her heart. You better be sure if you tell her because if not then I will hunt you down and destroy you."

Nate asked, "Who is the girl."

Eddie said, "I don't know exactly but I do know that she seemed familiar. Like I had seen her before."

Maya said, Well whoever this girl is she is not better than Shelly."

Whisper said with glee, "Oooh I wonder who this mystery girl is don't you want to know who it is Nate."

Nate said, "I don't know I am just surprised both Bear and Eddie are going to ask their crushes out."

Whisper said, "Why, you're not going to tell Katie how you feel about her."

Nate said, "No I don't have the guts and I don't want any Yo-kai to mess with it, and with my luck, there is a good chance there will be."

Whisper said, "Well sometimes Yo-kai could be helpful if you got that Cupistol to help you Katie would fall head over heels for you."

Nate said, "Like I said I don't want any Yo-kai involved if I tell her I want the honest truth even if it does hurt." Eddie then left to hang out with the other boys but Maya came up to Nate and said, "Nate we need to talk."

Nate asked, "Talk about what?"

Maya said, "About Eddie and Shelly."

Nate asked, "What about them."

Maya said, "Uhhhh, do I have to spell everything out to you. We need to get them together. I mean they both like each other for real."

Nate said, "Really?! How come you didn't tell him he would have changed his mind immediately."

Maya said, "Yeah but that would give him too much confidence. Plus there is that other girl if we are going to do this we are going to need fab Shelly and yes that is what I am calling her little transformation."

Nate said, "Okay so what do you want me to do."

Maya said, "I need you to distract Eddie I mean we can keep him busy during the school day but I will need time to convince Shelly to change again so we'll meet at triangle park after a while okay can I count on you?"

Nate said, "Sure I had plans to go looking for something important anyway I'll just drag Eddie along."

Maya said, "Great then this might just work."

Whisper said, "Hmm smooth moves, Nate."

Nate asked, "What are you talking about?"

Whisper said, "It is obvious Maya likes you and she is just using Eddie and Shelly as an excuse to get close to you."

Nate said, "That is not what's happening. But um do you think you could use your Yo-kai pad to tell the society of style about our plan."

Whisper said, "Sure thing."

Like most days of school, it was slow and boring as well as uneventful because it was Thursday. Nate, as well as most of his fellow classmates, were relieved and overjoyed for the end of class and Nate was almost tired he hadn't told anyone else about Maya's plan but it was hard for Nate to maintain Eddie. Eddie had been very fickle. He wasn't sure whether he was or was not going to tell whom that he liked her. That was when Nate had a hard time it was hard for Nate to keep him from going up to Shelly and telling her that he liked her despite the fact he thought this was good Maya said otherwise and even harder to keep his confidence and determination to tell Shelly up and it didn't help that he told people and they tipped the scale even more by giving Eddie suggestions and encouragement or told him he had no shot despite not knowing who he was talking about. Meanwhile, Maya had it easy convincing Shelly to change because of the society of style's influence. So after school, Nate told Eddie and Lucas about how he lost a water bottle somewhere and he was going to find it since the Droplette couldn't find anything and neither could the Duchoo or Snotsolong. He did invite Bear along but he was too busy hanging out with Lulu much to all three other boys' annoyance.

Lucas said, "So we are looking for a lost water bottle."

Eddie said, "And it is somewhere by water that means we only have the waterways and the ponds."

Lucas said, "Yeah the one in breezy hills and the one up in Mount Wildwood."

Eddie said, "Hmm so where should we start."

Nate said, "Umm I was thinking we start at the waterways." So the three boys made their way to the western waterway since it was the closest. They checked everywhere in the grasses, by trees, in the water, by the benches, and Eddie even tried asking about it in the flower shop.

Whisper said, "I guess no luck. So Walkappa's bottle isn't here."

Lucas said, "Yeah it's not here Nate."

Eddie said, "We checked everywhere."

Nate said, "That means we should head over to the one on the other side of town." So Nate, Lucas, and Eddie started for the east waterway. It wasn't all bad Eddie and Lucas got to know each other better and they really had a lot in common they were quick friends. At the other waterway, it was the same thing no water bottle. So they tried the pond. It was a little harder to search at Gourd Pond but they split up and still couldn't find it. So they went to the last place they knew with water. It was a long way up but they finally made it to catfish pond.

Eddie said, "Hmm well I don't think it's here I'll head up the stream a little bit it might be up there."

Lucas said, "I'll check the other side of the pond."

Whisper said, "Wow I can't believe we still haven't found Walkappa's bottle."

Nate said, "I am kind of grateful I mean it takes Eddie away from Shelly a little bit longer I was going to hide it if I found it."

Whisper said, "Oh I almost forgot about that."

Nate said, "Oh I found it." Nate went under the bamboo brush and found Walkappa's blue bottle.

Whisper said, "Ooooh good find."

Nate shouted, "Guys I found it." so the two boys ran over and saw Nate with the bottle.

Eddie said, "Oh good I was starting to think that it was gone for good."

Lucas said, "Good job Nate."

Nate said, "Yeah so let's go to Triangle part that's where the owner of the water bottle is waiting."

Eddie and Lucas said, "Okay." So the three boys made the long trek down the many flights of stairs and walked to Triangle Park. Nate pulled Lucas aside and explained to him what was going on when they got there.

Lucas said, "Okay."

Nate said to Eddie, "So me and Lucas are going to return the bottle you stay here okay."

Eddie said, "Sure. I'll just stay put."

Whisper said, "Now we wait for the magic to happen."

Nate said, "But first we need to return this bottle to Walkappa."

Whisper said, "right right."

Nate said, "Here it goes, come on out my yo-kai friend calling Walkappa Yo-kai medal do your thing."

Walkappa!

Walkappa said, "Hey what's up man."

Nate said, "We found your water bottle. Here you go." Nate handed Walkappa his blue water bottle.

Walkappa said, "Thanks, dude."

Nate said, "No problem."

Walkappa said, "Well see you around then." and just left.

Whisper said, "Now to the good stuff." So Nate, Lucas, and Whisper all hid from Eddie in the park watching him stand out in the open. He wasn't doing much when they saw Maya across from them watching but still hidden from Eddie and she came Shelly she was all dressed up the same she was before with the society of style around her. Eddie noticed her and started to blush. She smiled and came up to Eddie, "Hello there." she said.

Eddie squeezed out a, "Hi."

She giggled and said, "I didn't know you were here."

Eddie said, "Um Oh I was just in the neighborhood."

She said, "Okay I heard you wanted to tell me something."

Eddie said, "Um… I ...uh … Um."

She said, "Don't worry I don't bite."

Eddie smiled and relaxed a bit more but then something happened, "Um… well, I don't know."

Shelly then frowned, "Really my friend told me that you liked me."

Eddie said, "Um… I did but… but I think I like another girl better." he then ran away from her.

Whisper said, "Oh no he did horrible out there."

Nate said, "That doesn't make any sense he loves Shelly he has had a crush on her for a while." Nate then ran after his friend.

Lucas then asked, "You think it is the work of a Yo-kai?"

Whisper said, "Maybe." so Lucas scanned around with his watch but found nothing.

Lucas said, "huh so no Yo-kai."

Nate found Eddie at the Every Mart with a sad look on his face.

Nate asked him, "Hey dude what happened out there that girl liked you, you could have been hers."

Eddie said, "I just don't think I like her as much as someone else."

Nate said, "Yeah but I think you just broke her heart."

Eddie said, "I don't know. What else could I have done? How did she even know I had a crush on her? I don't know what I did I just know I am done here. See you tomorrow Nate." and just like that, he walked off.

Nate came back to the park to see Shelly back to her normal clothes being comforted by Lucas and Maya and surrounded by Rattelle, Leggly, Jumbelina, and Whisper. All four Yo-kai felt bad for the girl who was in tears crying on a bench. Nate came back and patted the crying Shelly on her back.

Maya shouted, "You said he would like her. You said so."

Lucas said, "Woah Woah this isn't Nate fault here."

Nate said to Shelly, "Sorry he didn't like you back Shelly I don't know what happened. Don't worry there is someone out there for you."

Shelly sobbed, "I just wanna disappear I am so embraced."

Rattelle said, "The nerve how dare that boy dis this poor girl." and the two other members of the society of style nodded.

Nate asked, "Whisper what should I do?"

Whisper said, "Well we can't just make her happy these are important feelings she is feeling and there is little we can do to help with heartbreak."

Nate said, "Awe man if only things worked out." Lucas continued to try to calm Shelly down and the four humans and four Yo-kai just stayed in the park for a little while Nate ended up calling Dimmy to help Shelly but he still couldn't help but feel bad. Luckily Lucas did help Maya not kill Nate but she was still angry at Eddie and Shelly didn't seem like she was going to be happy anytime soon. Today was a horrible Thursday Nate thought to himself.

That night Eddie lied awake thinking Tomorrow I am going to tell Shelly I like her.

Eddie wasn't the only one who was wide awake thinking. That Night Katie was thinking, Tomorrow is the day I tell him That I like him.

It was Finally Friday the day everyone had been waiting for the last day of school. This was the final day and then it would finally be summer. Everyone was excited even the teachers who all claimed they were going to miss their students. Too most it seemed like it was going to be normal but for Nate and his friends, it was going to be anything but normal. That Morning Eddie tried to talk to Shelly but she either ignored him, avoided him, or Maya yelled at him yet he still tried. That wasn't important though at least not to Nate that day. Lulu and Bear were still getting along and Lulu was playing along but that wasn't important to Nate either. All that mattered that day were the words that came out of Katie's mouth that day after she said,

Nate, I have something I need to tell you…

AN: So yeah that was the end of that chapter with a little sneak peek into the next chapter. I know this wasn't my best piece of work but I think it sets Friday up perfectly. Next Chapter is when things get really good so I will try my best to be quick but I can't promise anything. Also, I would like to give a shout out to my PM buddy Aclux.
