Chapter 16

Don't grow up too fast

AN: So we just recovered from last chapter which was pretty intense for this story so far and it really took some out of me so I decided to do this chapter I mean I planned on doing this chapter anyway but it just came sooner than later anyway hope you enjoy. So after Nate reunited his group of friends it was all pretty peaceful for a few days. He just hung out with his friends and played video games, read Manga/Comics, and watched TV, or watched Jibanyan train against cars. Today Nate was going to the cafe in downtown Springdale to get a few sweet treats for himself and for his Yo-kai friends.

"So this is why you should start your summer homework now Nate or it will catch up to you," said Whisper.

Nate said, "Don't worry I have plenty of time Whisper and I already finished a page of math problems."

Whisper said, "Out of ten you still have a lot of work to do you might as well get it over with now that way everything works out okay."

Jibanyan said, "Nyate's right he has plenty of time just chill nyan."

Nate said, "Yeah we are just going to Cafe Shanista to get a little treat beside as long as there isn't any Yo-kai causing problems I should be fine."

Whisper said, "You can't blame all your problems on Yo-kai Nate you need to take some responsibility to you know."

Jibanyan said, "And even if there are Yo-kai problems I'll just make some quick work of them nyan."

Nate said, "I know you will Jibanyan you keep getting stronger and stronger every day."

Jibanyan said, "I knyow right I mean I can feel myself growing raging muscles." and Jibanyan started flexing his still somewhat small muscles.

Whisper said, "You guys didn't even listen to me did you."

Nate said, "Hold that thought Whisper." Nate ordered some foods and then took it outside. he stuffed most of it in his bag filled with Yo-kai snacks and then saved the best for himself.

Nate gave Jibanyan a delicious chocolate lava cake, Whisper a small black tea and some coffee cake, and for himself, he got a strawberry cheesecake and some lemonade.

The three ate peacefully for a while until a little girl with short brown hair wearing an orange and pink sleeved shirt came up to Nate.

She asked, "How did you do that?"

Nate smiled softly and asked, "Do what?"

The girl said, "You know just go into that cafe. Most people here are so mature and cool."

Nate said, "I guess, this is a pretty popular cafe."

The girl said, "I wish I was older. Then I could totally go into that cafe."

Whisper laughed, "haha this sweet little girl couldn't wait another second to be a big girl."

Jibanyan was too distracted eating his cake.

Whisper said, "Little does she know that it is so much more fun to be a little girl."

Nate said, "yeah."

The girl said, "I wish I could be older sooner."

Nate said, "Ha, well I hear milk makes you grow up faster."

The girl beamed, "Yeah, oh that's a great idea I know if milk can help me grow up then Amazing milk is sure to make me grow up real quick. Could you get me one? Please."

Nate smiled, he couldn't resist this little girl, "Sure thing in fact I have one right here in my bag." Nate pulled the colorful milk out of his bag and handed it to the little girl."

The girl said, "Thanks a lot mister."

Nate said, "No problem."

The little girl said, "Hehe, yes, so if I drink this I'll grow up super extra fast right."

Nate said, "Well I can't promise you anything really but it might do something."

The little girl said, "Ha you just wait and see I bet it will work. Meet me here tomorrow same time and I'll be an older girl. I bet I'll be taller than you."

Nate said, "Sure thing. I bet you'll be growing up in no time. So see you here then."

The girl said, "Yup see you." and then she ran off.

Whisper said, "Ah this will be fun, Nate. This little girl was lucky to have met you. It was a good thing you still had a good glass of amazing milk."

Nate said, "yeah those things go pretty quickly I put them in the fridge when I get home every day if Yo-kai doesn't drink them in battle, and then my dad usually drinks them or Jibanyan does."

Jibanyan said, "What they're delicious. It's nyot my fault it is in the nyame."

Nate said, "Yeah I don't blame you they are good."

Whisper said, "It is quite amazing milk too bad there isn't a milk that amazing. Oh Nate you must humor our little friend."

Nate said, "Sure why not so what do you guys wanna do next?"

Jibanyan said, "I don't knyow why don't we just head home and relax."

Whisper said, "That seems like a good idea Jibanyan."

Nate said, "Okay then let's go."

The next day Nate was just in his room doing his homework when Whisper came in.

The ghostly butler said, "Nate, Nate let's go we have to go see that girl."

Nate said, "But I am finally doing my homework like you said."

Whisper said, "Okay that's good but you made a promise to that girl, this is more important you can do your homework later."

Nate said, "You do realize this is the exact opposite of what you were saying yesterday right."

Whisper said, "Yes, yes but come on let's go."

Nate said, "Fine, I guess I don't want to be mean to that little girl I'm not a jerk."

Whisper said, "Yes we better hurry."

Nate said, "Okay, Jibanyan try to be good while I'm out I don't want my mom on me about missing deserts again."

Jibanyan said, "You sound like your mom but fine. See you guys."

So it was Nate and Whisper running downtown to meet a little girl.

Whisper said, "Oh I bet the adorable little thing drank the whole thing in an instant."

Nate said, "Yeah, I remember when I wanted to grow up super quickly."

Whisper said, "It is so kind of you to do this Nate for this sweet little girl."
So then they were there at cafe Shanista. Where they looked for the girl. When a girl Nate's age in an orange shirt came up to them.

She said, "Where have you been I have been waiting forever for you. I thought I was going to be late since I had trouble finding a shirt and pants that fit me." The girl was the same height as Nate wearing an orange shirt similar to her original one but this one was for a girl Nate's age and her hair was short but below her ears.

Whisper said, "Huh you have never told me about this friend Nate a girl same age as you how come I have never seen her before."

Nate asked the girl, "Um who are you? Am I supposed to know you? Are you from out of town or something?"

The girl said, "Really it's ME from yesterday. I told you I would be as tall as you."

Whisper and Nate were both shocked.

Whisper said, "Impossible, but wait is it… can it really be… is this the girl who drank the amazing milk?"

Nate said, "What?! How?!"

The now not so little girl said, "Well I drank that milk you gave me every last drop, and then when I woke up it worked. Now I am way taller."

Nate said to Whisper, "This isn't how milk works I didn't think this would actually happen."

Whisper said, "Wow kids grow up so fast these days!"

Nate said to Whisper, "Well I guess but not this fast."

Whisper said, "But Nate it is scientifically proven that with every generation kids are growing faster and faster I think this is one of those cases maybe she was closer to your age than you thought but now she finally grew into her looks."

Nate said, "Something is fishy but I guess just this one time I'll give you the benefit of the doubt."

The girl said, "Then again I am only taller, and not even by that much there is no way I am mature enough to go into that cafe. I need to be a real adult. What should I do?"

Nate said, "I guess I can help maybe you need some healthy stuff."

The girl said, "Right so um maybe get me some of that bitter medicine stuff I bet that will work."

Whisper said, "Well I guess we have gone a bit too deep to stop here so why not let's go to the medicine store in blossom heights and get her some medicine."

Nate said, "Okay then."

The girl said, "Okay."

Whisper said, "Okay so we are looking for a purple powder so let's just go to Chlore-Phil good."

Nate said, "I'll be right back with the medicine." and then he ran off with Whisper on a quest to get the medicine.

Nate and Whisper came back with the purple medicine and Nate even stocked up on some despite how it drained his pockets.

Nate said, "Here you go one packet of bitter medicine."

The girl said, "Thanks a lot." and she pinched her nose and took the whole thing, "ah now I'll get even more mature. So you come back here tomorrow again and see if you notice any differences again okay."

Nate said, "Okay I'll be back here tomorrow then." and Nate started to head home.

Whisper said, "Ah so we get to see this young girl grow up don't you feel good Nate."

Nate said, "I sort of have a weird feeling about this but okay."

So the next day Nate and Whisper brought Jibanyan with them.

Jibanyan said, "Nyo way nyan no one grows like that I still think you are both trying to trick me."

Whisper said, "I am telling you she grew up pretty fast and very fine I wouldn't be surprised if Nate fell for her."

Nate said, "No way would I ever Whisper, I still feel skeptical about this."

Then a teenage girl came up to Nate and said, "Hey again it's me if you don't remember, look the medicine worked."

Nate blushed this time the girl looked like a beautiful highschool girl. She was taller, even taller than Nate, her hair was now to her shoulders, and she was wearing a sweater and a skirt.

Jibanyan said, "What?! You're telling me that this is the girl we met two days ago?"

Whisper said, "Yes, see I told you she really grew up."

Nate whispered, "This really isn't normal and shouldn't be possible."

The girl said, "Now I am the woman I wanted to be I a finally mature enough to go into that cafe. Well almost… I still want to be just a bit older."

Nate said, "Um you look older than me when I went in there."

The girl said, "I may be mature but now I need to look just right."

Nate asked, "What can I do?"

Whisper said, "I bet you can help her look the part you know like you did with Shelly."

Nate said, "And look how that turned out."

Jibanyan laughed and said, "Ha I was about to say that."

The teenager said, "well the most classy ladies aren't just good looking but well read so I need a good book how about Li'l Angel heals. That's a good book."

Nate said, "Sure, I'll just go to the book store real quick."

The girl said, "Thanks."

Nate started walking away and said, "Whisper this is really weird I know I said I would take you word for this but this isn't normal."

Jibanyan said, "Yeah nyan nyo way did a girl grow this much in only two nyights."

Whisper said, "Nonsense she probably just messed around with outfits and makeup. A good outfit and some good makeup skills can make anyone look any age."

So Nate came back again and said, "got the book here you go."

The girl said, "Lovely, now I will finally be able to be a mature and graceful, well read woman. See you tomorrow when I finish this book." and she walked off book in hand.

Whisper said, "Yes she will make quite a fine young lady. She will finally be able to walk into that cafe."

Nate said, "I am still worried but I guess we'll just see tomorrow."

Jibanyan said, "I gotta see this."

The next day Nate, Whisper, and Jibanyan went over to the cafe. The three looked around but saw no sign of the young woman.

Jibanyan said, "I don't see her anywhere."

Whisper said, "Me neither."

Then an old lady came up to them and said, "Oh it's you I am sorry I didn't want you to see me like this. I grew up too much. I can't go in there now I am too old."

Whisper said, "What!? NO, it can't BE! Is this the girl from yesterday."

Jibanyan said, "Woah this is nyot nyormal nyot nyormal at all nyan."

Nate said, "I told you it wasn't a normal growth spurt Whisper."

Whisper said, "I guess you were right, so this must be the work if a Yo-kai."

Nate said, "Oh you don't say." sarcastically.

Jibanyan followed along and said, "who would have guessed."

Whisper said, "I know so let's find this Yo-kai."

Nate searched around with his watch and found a Yo-kai. It was an old wrinkly old woman yo-kai in a robe she looked hideous and she was armed with a dried-up wooden staff.

The Yo-kai said, "Oh so you found me."

Nate said, "So you're the one who made this poor girl age."

Whisper said, "Nate be careful this is Grumples a bitter old Yo-kai who steals youth."

Grumples said, "Oh I don't steal I only take what I deserve trust me no one is worthy of youth."

Nate demanded, "Give that girl back her youth this instant."

Grumples said, "Never, now I'm going to teach you a lesson." Grumples prepared her staff and aimed it right at Nate. "take this!" and out came a purple beam of light.

Whisper jumped in the way and said, "No Nate." Whisper was hit and became an old man.

Nate said, "No whisper."

Whisper said, "Oh *cough* so this is what it feels like to be old."

Nate said, "Whisper, don't worry we'll beat this old bat."

Jibanyan said, "Yeah I'll make short work of this hag."

Grumples said, "Bat, hag, oh you've done it now. I will drain every last drop of youth out of all of you." Grumples prepared her staff again and prepared to fire but then Jibanyan said, "Hiya." and punched Grumples right in the face knocking her out cold. She disappeared in a puff of smoke and dropped her medal as well as a lot of loose change. Whisper went back to normal and Jibayan said, "Yeah we did it."

Nate said, "Nice work Jibanyan."

Jibanyan said, "No one messes with my friends."

Whisper got back up and said, "Awe back to my young youthful self, oh and our little friend should be back to normal too." Nate, Jibanyan, and Whisper looked back at the girl as she quickly de-aged back to normal.

The little girl said, "what, cool I'm back to normal I am so happy to be a kid again. I guess I was wanting to grow up just a little bit too fast. When I was old I just missed my youth."

Whisper said, "Ah I guess she ended up learning a valuable lesson after all."

Jibanyan said, "Yeah this was real hands-on."

Nate said, "Well it seems like you have really matured a bit."

The girl asked, "How I am still just a little girl.
Nate said, "Well you may be a little girl on the outside but you just grew up on the inside. Come on I'll get us both a snack and a drink from the cafe."

The little girl said, "Yeah, thank you."

Nate said, "You're welcome my treat." So Nate got himself, the girl, and both Whisper and Jibanyan snacks from the cafe, and they all loved it.

The girl said, "Thanks again. Her take this ring, I found it in the sand at the beach right here."

Nate took the ring and said, "Oh cool thanks." Nate took a silver ring with an odd spirit like design on it.

Whisper said, "Oh Nate that's another piece of Yo-kai equipment."

Nate said, "cool I wonder who would like it."

AN: So this was literally the definition of a filler and I liked it. It was short enough to do and this is one of my favorite quests in the games. Since this is a filler there wasn't much in this chapter but the next chapter after this is really going to kick things in gear going back to the bosses and battles.
