Chapter 26

Lulu's Teddy Bear

AN: Another Nateless chapter. I mean I feel like I haven't written much about Bear so this one will revolve around him and Lulu of course I mean I also did put romance as a sub-genre so I feel I need to add some shipping with Nate not nailed down, Katie needs some "screen time" but after the last bit of drama I don't I will do anything with her for now, Eddie is complicated but I will get to him, Lucas well I might do something with him later…, and Hailey well I don't really want to use her for shipping at the moment. I come from the Pokémon fandom that ships a lot so I know quite a bit about romantic plot but then again I am not the best at making it so forgive me if you aren't satisfied with the plot or if you are bored by shipping. Anyway hope you enjoy.

He was nervous he had never done anything like this. Besides he was just a 10 year

old. He had no idea what he was doing when he got into this mess. When Bear asked Lulu out he had no idea what being in a relationship was about. He was just glad Lulu agreed to it. Agreed to what he wasn't sure. He also didn't like the idea of his friends believing Lulu only said yes because she felt bad for him and even though they said they only thought that way because of Maya that made him feel even worse since she probably knew better than his friends or himself for that matter. All he knew was that he got to hold her hand, her soft, warm, small hand, despite the size difference Lulu's hand fit perfectly in Bear's at least that's how he saw it. The thing was Bear felt a strong weird feeling towards Lulu which he could only assume was what a crush was. Then the feeling of her liking him back, in the same way, was amazing. The idea that she was faking hurt his soul. He hung out with her the first few days, of course, he knew to give her space he didn't want to come off as clingy. Now for some reason or another, he hadn't told his parents about how he and Lulu were… he didn't actually know what they were or what their situation was. They continued to hang out in the summer with friends though they were close to each other. The more he learned about her the more he liked her. Yet he was still confused on what they were or what to do. Bear had no idea if she wanted more or if she was fine or if he was rushing her. Was it as stressful for her as it was for him? Bear now knew why people told kids not to get into relationships. Now Bear was going to hang out with Lulu today but all of their friends were busy so it would be just them. Like a date which sounded horrifying. Bear didn't know what to do for that and he couldn't just bail on her especially if she wanted to be something more.

What would they even do? They were just kids. He really was just fine if he was with her. Eddie was no help since he still hadn't gotten over how rejected Shelly for herself. Something they still needed to workout… Eddie went quiet every time Bear bought Lulu up which he thought was stupid. Nate said he had no idea what to do he no more experience than Bear. Bear thought about actually telling his parents but hesitated because then they would have to have the "talk" with him. Either way, it was too late it was already time for him to meet Lulu downtown. So he started to make his way there. It was a nice day to walk, the sun was shining, and there were birds and cicadas singing. Most people would have ended that by saying, "there wasn't a cloud in the sky." but Bear preferred to have a few clouds in the sky. They looked cool and when light shined on them they looked cooler. Normally Bear would have been fishing or catching bugs but nope not today. The city looked nice the streets weren't too busy and the buildings were nice. They agreed to meet at the golden egg by the central station. So there he was. Bear thought the egg was pretty awesome, it was supposed to be a good luck charm or something for the city and Bear was pretty lucky to be hanging out with Lulu. Then there she was, she came walking from the opposite direction Bear came, She was in her regular outfit a pink dress with two shades of pink, the top part was blush pink and the bottom was more Fuschia with two little bows on the side, like usual she wore her signature bow on her head. Bear was in his blue jacket and black shorts like normal. The bulkier boy waved to the smaller girl.

"Lulu over here," called Bear. Lulu smiled and came running.

"Hey Bear," she said.

"Hey Lulu," he said, "so… do you have any idea on… um what we should do."

Lulu frowned but then said, "I don't really care as long as your with me. Op that probably sounded really cheesy." Yet that was all Bear needed.

Bear flashed his big grin and said, "Same here, I don't care as long as I'm with you hey wanna go catch a movie in the mall."

Lulu said, "Sure why not. Let's go." Lulu took Bear's hand and they started walking to the sunset mall. While they were walking they talked.

Lulu said, "Wow it's so great out here."

Bear said, "Yeah the weather is great out here."

Lulu said, "No not that, well I guess the weather is great I hadn't noticed. I was talking about how cool the city is downtown Springdale is pretty cool. The buildings look so amazing and there is so much to do here and it is pretty lively with people everywhere and from so many places too." Bear didn't really notice how nice the city looked before it was weird but cool to see it in a new light.

Bear said, "Yeah, I guess it is nice." with a sort of confused face.

Lulu smiled at him and then continued there walk through the city. Then they finally made it to Sunset mall where Bear was amazed once again. There were so many stores and shops. Bear and Lulu walked around with both of them stopping to check out store after store. They looked at stores with books, foods, clothes, and just random nic-nacks.

They had fun just looking at all the cool stuff there. Then they got to the movies. There were only two movies out at the moment, A romantic chick-flick, and a robot vs monster movie. Bear was looking at the Robot vs Monster movie while Lulu was looking at the romantic movie.

Lulu said, "Oh you want to see that movie okay. You probably wouldn't want to see this one anyway.

Bear said, "No, no, let's go see that one, I can't say I don't like it if I haven't watched a movie like that before. I'll try it out."

Lulu smiled and said, "Okay then let's go." Lulu paid for both tickets since they were going to the movie she wanted to watch despite Bear's protests to let him pay at least for his ticket. Of course, he got her back by getting all the food. Lulu got a bag of popcorn and a couple different candies she mixed with the popcorn. Bear on the other hand got a pretzel and a soda.

They found good seats in the movie theater and got themselves settled.

Lulu said, "Thanks again for letting me see this movie."

Bear said, "No problem, thanks for paying for the ticket."

Lulu countered, "Thanks for paying for the food."

Bear said, "Thanks for letting me." It was a struggle but Lulu was crazy when it came to trying to stop Bear from paying but he did it eventually. They both smiled at that. Then the movie started. It was about a woman aspiring to become an actress and a man aiming to be a director. The two are on a ship from a lost civilization the two grow to love one another until something horrible happens. It was filled with a bit of action and it was completely covered in emotion. It was a movie from Europe. Lulu enjoyed it and laid her head on Bear's shoulder during one of the romantic scenes but she was surprised to see Bear crying when she did.

Bear said, "It's just so beautiful." Lulu smiled at that and went back to watching the movie. It was amazing and to top it all off the kiss scene at the end was absolutely amazing, you could actually see how much the two loved each other at the end. The director was amazing for putting this all together though the same could not be said for the editor because the ending did look a bit weird… The two walked out both with smiles on their faces.

Bear said, "What a great movie. It was a nice movie the actors were so good at there job and there was so much detail."

Lulu said, "Yeah and the plot was amazing I still can't believe you cried."

Bear said, "What can I say that was amazing and I have been told I am an emotional person."

Lulu smiled and said, "I like that. Most boys aren't."

Bear blushed at that and asked, "So where to next?"

Lulu said, "Why don't we go get something to eat."

Bear said, "Sure I could eat."

Lulu said, "Then let's go Cafe Shanista."

Bear said, "Cool let's go." The two walked over to the cafe which was pretty close by. The two went inside and ordered then took their things outside. Lulu ordered some Tiramisu and a cup of chocolatte, Bear got a cup of vanilla milk and a bowl of pudding.

Lulu said, "Ummm this is so good."

Bear said, "Yeah looks great. This pudding is good too."

Lulu laughed, "Haha, this has been great Bear."

Bear laughed, "That's good." They both really did have a good time. Yet Bear couldn't help but think about one thing. Bear dropped his smile and asked, "Hey Lulu do you actually like me the way I like you?"

Lulu then also dropped her smile and frowned, "Why would you think otherwise."

Bear said, "Well to be honest with you I heard from Nate and Eddie who heard from Maya that you only accepted because you felt bad for me."

Lulu looked away and said, "huh I guess that's not a total lie. I didn't really like you in that way but I also liked you too much to break your heart I mean I know I shouldn't have lied but this only elementary school we're going to be in sixth grade, I don't even know what love is at this point. I just know I didn't want to hurt you."

Bear said, "That's fine I didn't expect you to say yes you know I am just glad that I finally heard the truth." with a sad look on his face, "You know you don't have to do this you know we can just be friends you know."

Lulu said, "Wait but..."

Bear said, "It's fine."

Lulu said, "But I think I do like you that way."

Bear was desperate, "Really? No, no it's okay like you said it's just an elementary school crush."

Lulu said, "But I had a lot of fun today with you. I mean just me and you. I like you like that too now and not just because of today. Ever since we started hanging out like this I have had so much fun. You're the sweetest and kindest boy I have met, and you aren't afraid to show your emotions. I like you Bear." Bear just turned around and took her in a hug.

Bear said, "thank you. Lulu, I like you too." and he let every tear fall.

Lulu returned the hug and said, "I know, now come on were making a scene."

Bear said, "okay, okay, sorry about that I am just so happy I got that all sorted out and that it ended well."

Lulu said, "Me too." Bear and Lulu both then looked out at the beach it was beautiful. It was like a sea of aquamarines. They then looked at each other and smiled. Lulu said, "you know I bet there are a lot of fish here."

Bear said, "Yup. Tons of them I fish here all the time."

Lulu said, "Well maybe next time we're here we should fish."

Bear said, "That sounds like a great idea."

Lulu said, "See you later Bear." she then pecked him on the cheek and walked off.

Bear blushed and asked, "Hey does this mean we are…"

Lulu said, "As long as I can call you boyfriend."

Bear said, "Okay see you later then… girlfriend."

AN: So again probably not my best piece of work but honestly I feel good about this I mean it was fun to write about Bear and Lulu I mean I could have done better with the questioning part but I didn't know how to make it better without it getting too intense I mean the thing is these are all ten year olds they aren't going to know how or what a relationship is or works. Other than that it was fun. This was a good chapter to me I would love to know what you guys think about it so please review. I hope you guys enjoy. The next chapter will be one of my greatest yet if I write it right be on the lookout for it.
