Chapter 29
Memories?
AN: Okay sorry for the wait I guess I just got busy not much else to say so I hope you enjoy.
Disclaimer: I still don't own yo-kai watch if I did I would be a lot more busier.
Nate slept until almost noon that day, not that his yo-kai butler could blame him this time since his master was at a construction site late at night taking down a guardian in training and a powerful giant yo-kai. Jibanyan slept too he had more of an excuse than Nate, he actually fought in battle but eventually, Nate had to get up not that he minded, he wanted to spend his summer vacation to the fullest even with yo-kai mischief and he was glad to continue his endeavor to help people and yo-kai. So he got up and changed his clothes and actually, he took a shower quickly and he was ready for the day. Of course, he was hungry but his mom was home that day and she had prepared lunch for the both of them.
"Um this is really good Mom thanks a lot," said Nate with a stuffed mouth.
"Nate honey don't talk with your mouth full but I am glad you like it I can't believe you slept in so late though it's crazy especially since apparently last night was very eventful," said Lily Adams.
Nate asked, "Oh really what happened last night?"
His mother responded, "Well apparently a lot happened downtown late in the night, there were a lot of tremors especially by the construction site and there was also a massive storm above it and there was a weird flash of light that everyone downtown saw some people even say they saw a giant by the construction site. People are calling it the guardian's curse or punishment. One person even said they saw a boy up there crazy right?"
Nate almost choked on his food, "Urk… Yeah, yeah that's crazy."
Lily said, "Well they nearly have to restart construction though it is not as damaged as they thought it would be after those quakes a bit odd but nothing compared to what happened last night really." Nate knew that the yo-kai that lived in the construction site did like being able to live there more but they also decided not to completely let the whole building be destroyed so they helped maintain it.
Nate said, "Wow and I slept through all of that."
Lily said, "Yeah oh hold that thought your dad is calling me." Lily then stepped out of the room to take the call. Nate let out a sigh of relief.
"I guess the whole town knows about what happened last night," said Whisper startling Nate.
Nate said, "Hey don't do that you know it freaks me out."
"Oh sorry I was just wondering what you were going to do today if you were actually going to get that homework done," said Whisper.
"Actually yeah I am going to try that today I mean no yo-kai is asking for help on the kai net right?" asked Nate.
Whisper grabbed his yo-kai pad scanned it and then said, "No everything seems fine I guess this means you can finally do it."
Nate's mother then walked back into the room and said, "Hey Nate I just got a call from your dad it turns out he forgot his work things I hate to bother you during your summer vacation but do you think you could bring his briefcase to him?"
Nate said, "Sure thing mom."
Lily said, "Okay I think he left it on the table thanks Nate, good luck." Nate finished up his lunch and then grabbed the briefcase. He then started for the door.
Whisper asked, "Should I get Jibanyan?"
Nate said, "No, let him sleep he earned it." and then they left the house on their way to where Nate's dad worked. It was a pretty simple walk but on the way there they ran into Bear and his mom.
"But Mom you said I could get that new game." whined the boy.
"No, I don't remember anything about that Bear I am sorry but you can't get that game," said Bear's mother.
"Ah man really are we still having that curry for dinner?" asked Bear.
"No, I don't think we have the ingredients Bear." said his mother.
"What but we just went shopping," said Bear.
"No, we didn't that's what we're doing today," said Bear's mom.
"But we just went yesterday," said Bear.
Whisper said, "Hmm I don't know why but I think Bear's mom is being inspirited by a yo-kai."
Nate said, "Really, you think so." Nate then flipped on his watch's light feature and scanned around Bear and his Mom and saw that they were being followed by a Wazzat. "Wow, you were right for once Whisper."
Whisper said, "What I was? Wait, no of course I was right my yo-kai butler sense is never wrong."
Nate asked, "What's a Wazzat doing here?"
Whisper said, "My guess is just making people forget things. We probably should stop it we can't have Bear's mom forgetting too much that wouldn't be good."
Nate said, "I guess your right okay I guess it's time to wake Jibanyan up."
Whisper said, "Wait not only do I think that's a bad idea because Jibanyan would be irritated but also Wazzat will just inspirit him. You beat Wazzat before summon the yo-kai you used to beat him before."
Nate asked, "Are you sure that's a good idea?"
Whisper said, "Well so far no other yo-kai has been able to stand up to Wazzat."
Nate said, "Well I guess we don't have the time to experiment so here goes nothing. Come on out my yo-kai friend, calling Manjimutt, yo-kai medal do your thing." Nate flipped the coin into the air, caught it, and then inserted it into his watch causing a swirl of purple light to come out of the watch.
Summoning Eerie
Lookie-lee Lookie-lee
Flippity-dee
Lookie-lee Lookie-lee
Bubba
Eerie
Manjimutt
From the light appeared a brown-furred dog with an ugly man's face.
"Uh, what's up kid why'd you summon me this time?" asked the dog-man yo-kai.
"Well we need you to take down that Wazzat but um are you invisible right now?" asked Nate.
"I think so I mean I think I learned how to do it, I mean I haven't been arrested in a couple of weeks," said Manjimutt.
"So will you help us?" asked Nate.
"Yes we could really use your assistance," said Whisper.
"I guess I do have the time," said Manjimutt. Manjimutt walked up to the Wazzat and said, "Hey you."
"Huh you talking to me?" asked the Wazzat.
"Yes, I'm talking to you, who else do you think I was talking to," said Manjimutt.
"Oh well, I guess I'll make you forget you said that. Wait oh no your that yo-kai I was told about, you're infamous in the Wazzat association, you are that guy with memories so foul that no Wazzat could take you I'm out." Wazzat then ran or more accurately floated off.
"Wow you didn't even have to do anything to get rid of that Wazzat that's pretty cool Manjimutt," said Nate.
Manjimutt grinned at that, "Well of course."
Whisper said, "Well that solves that problem."
Nate asked, "Does that mean Bear will get to get that game he wanted?"
Whisper said, "Sadly for Bear no because though Wazzat is gone the damage is done Bear's mother already forgot those things."
Nate said, "That's too bad I guess we better get downtown."
Manjimutt asked, "Can I tag along I don't have much else to do."
Nate said, "Sure." Nate, Whisper, and Manjimutt took the train downtown. On the way there they talked for quite a bit. It was a pretty quick ride there. Nate was surprised to see that he could just flick his watch light on and find about as many yo-kai passengers
"So we're here." said Whisper, "Ah the sights of the city much better during the day than the night don't you agree."
"Yeah, and at least we aren't being attacked by a bunch of yo-kai," said Nate.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that kid," said Manjimutt with a grim look.
"Oh no I don't like that look," said Nate he then scanned around and soon realized that the whole downtown area was filled with Wazzat everywhere. "Woah that's a lot of Wazzat. Whisper what are they doing here."
"Uh um, uh." said Whisper as he rushed to grab his yo-kai pad and find it.
"I don't know but I don't like it," said Manjimutt.
"Well I don't know either but I think we're better off just trying to avoid it let's go." People were being inspirited left and right by Wazzat. Nate, Whisper, and Manjimutt snuck past them all they seemed to be relentlessly inspiring people.
"This is really bad at this rate everyone in town is going to forget everything," said Nate.
"Don't worry Nate I am sure they will leave once they get their inspiriting needs out of their systems," said Whisper.
"I hope you're right Whisper I hope you're right," said Nate. It was a little hard to avoid all the Wazzat there were a couple close calls but luckily Whisper and Manjimutt were the only ones who lost a bit of memory. The three made it to the office building finally Yet even that place was filled with Wazzat the place was chaos in many ways. Nate walked up to the front desk and said, "um I am here to give my dad his work things he forgot."
The person running the front desk said, "um sure you do that I need to remember what time my boss has an important meeting." Nate then went to the elevator and the three went up.
"Hmm I feel like I should remember this place," said Manjimutt.
"Oh no they got you too," said Whisper. Nate then walked out to the hall of the office and he saw his dad waiting outside a room.
"Nate thank goodness you're here, thanks for bringing me my stuff you're a lifesaver," said Nate's father.
"You're welcome dad it was no problem," said Nate. Nate's dad then opened up the case but it was empty, there was nothing in it.
"Oh no I must have taken my papers with me and left them somewhere oh no," said Nate's dad.
"Dad are you okay?" asked the brown-haired boy.
"No, I can't do my presentation without those papers and my meeting starts soon. I am lucky you had enough time to get here because of the weird slide in the schedule," said Aaron Adams.
"Don't worry we might be able to find them in time. Do you have an idea on where you left them?" Nate asked his father.
"That's the big problem, I don't have a clue where they could be. I must have forgotten." said the brown-haired man.
"Dang, it those wazzat have really messed with things," Nate said underneath his breath.
"Yes but even so if we defeat them all without getting our memories flushed down the drain that won't restore your father's memory," said Whisper.
"Uh what was that?" asked Nate's dad.
"Um nothing I was just reminding myself I have homework to do," said Nate.
"Oh okay," said Nate's dad.
"Hey Whisper is there a yo-kai that can bring back memories?" asked Nate.
"Um no I don't think so," said Whisper as he brought out his yo-kai pad.
"Hey what's that," said Manjimutt as he plucked the tablet from Whisper's hands.
"What do you think you're doing!" said Whisper as he grabbed his yo-kai pad back.
"What I was just looking at that yo-kai, that one flushback," said Manjimutt, "it says he can help people remember things."
"That's absurd there is no way there is a yo-kai that can do that." but the Whisper read what was on the yo-kai pad and said, "Oh I guess I was wrong."
"That's great, so where can we find flushback?" asked Nate.
"Um… well this will probably be an issue, it says here he is most commonly found in San Fantastico," said Whisper.
"That's not good," said Manjimutt.
"What San Fantastico, that's so far we'll never make in time," said Nate. Luckily for Nate, he was just inspirited by a yo-kai. "Oh no," he said. Nate then shivered and felt a rush down his spine and then rushed to the restroom. After Nate relieved himself he was a bit annoyed to see Fidgephant standing with Whisper and Manjimutt where he left him.
"What was that all about Nate?" asked Whisper.
"Really, of what are you doing here?" asked Nate.
"What do you mean I came here with you," said Whisper.
"Aye, I get your pain, Nate, you don't have that good of a yo-kai guide," said Manjimutt.
"Whatever do you mean?" asked Whisper.
"Oh sorry I just couldn't hold it in anymore." said Fidgephant, "Let it out!" Fidgephant then sprayed Nate with another jet of water. Nate then rushed to the restroom again.
When he came back he was even more annoyed, "Really."
"Sorry I just couldn't help myself," said Fidgephant.
"Really Nate you need to get a better blader," said Whisper.
"Um the kid had to go because of Fidgephant," said Manjimutt.
"Oh not you too," said Whisper.
"Let it out," said Fidgephant. Nate dodged that one.
"Stop it!" Nate whined, "Seriously."
"Sorry I just couldn't help but overhear you wanted to meet with flushback," said Fidgephant.
"Ah yes Nate here did want to do that can you help us?" asked the white loud-mouthed yo-kai with giant blue lips.
"Um Y-yeah all of us restroom-based yo-kai have an easy way to contact each other," said Fidgephant.
"Cool then could you get Flushback over here?" asked Nate.
"Sure thing sorry again for spraying you," said Fidgephant right before he sprayed Nate again causing Nate to rush to the restroom again.
"How does this even work I don't have a drop left to go," said Nate as he walked out of the restroom.
"I ask that question too a lot," said Fidgephant as he followed Nate out of the restroom along with a blueish turtle-like yo-kai wearing a plain white shirt and brown pants with a pair of sandals on and a plunger on his back where a shell would normally be.
"Okay I don't even wanna know how you got him here but this is flushback right?" asked Nate.
"Why yes I am flushback I hear you have a memory problem here let me help you," said Flushback. Flushback then took off his plunger and prepared to use it on Nate.
"Wait, wait, wait! Not me I am fine, it's everyone else in the city who are forgetting things," said Nate before Flushback could do anything.
"Oh okay. Wait everyone else?" questioned Flushback.
"Well you see not everyone just most of the people in this downtown area they're all being inspirited by Wazzats," explained Nate.
"Wazzats oh no if there are many that might be a problem I better call the boys," said Flushback.
"The boys?" Nate said confused.
"Oh no," said Fidgephant before he jumped behind a chair. Then dozens of Flushbacks rushed out of the restroom trampling Nate. Soon the outside area became a battlefield, Flushbacks, and Wazzats were all fighting each other. Flushbacks were attacking with their plungers while Wazzats were just body bashing into the Flushbacks. People were suddenly remembering and forgetting things left and right it was more chaotic than it was before.
"Oh no what the heck, what's going on out here Nate?!" asked Whisper.
"Well Fidghphant helped get Flushback here the only problem is that he brought his friends and to fight the Wazzats," said Nate.
"That's horrible I mean people will have their memories erased and remembered over and over again if this keeps up. This has gone too far Nate you need to summon Jibanyan now to deal with all these yo-kai." said Whisper.
"Awe but Wazzat and Flushback are both my friends." said Fidgephant.
"Yeah they are both good yo-kai I bet if I could just talk to the Wazzat we could figure out what's going on but we would have to get their attention." said Nate.
"Leave that to me my friend, Fidgephant I need your help with this." said Manjimutt.
"Okay." said Fidgephant.
"I wonder what they are going to do." said Whisper.
"No way." said Nate though only he and the yo-kai could see it they were all amazed. Manjimutt somehow put on an extravagant show with a dance number using only the sounds of the toilets and multiple sprays of toilet water from Fidgephant it was the most disturbing, impressive, discusting, and spectacular thing they have ever saw it was something they all wanted out of their minds yet they also were never going to forget it but in a good way sort of.
"That was the most insane thing I have ever seen." said Whisper.
"Well you got to hand it to Manjimutt he did get all of them to stop fighting and we have all of their attention." said Nate.
"Thank you, thank you, I can't take all the credit Fidgephant did good too." said Manjimutt with a grin and a couple of waves to his audience that looked at him but were not clapping. Fidgephant panting behind him. Manjimutt then came up to Nate and said, "This is your time kid."
"Oh, Oh! Right. Okay I am Nate and I can see you all. You guys are all causing a lot of chaos for the town. I was hoping you could stop or at least tell me why you guys are doing this I mean I wanted to help my dad get his memories back so he can do his job so I called for Flushback but I don't know why this caused a war between you two groups." said Nate luckily Fidgephant shot anyone who came within earshot with a spray of water so no one but the yo-kai could hear him.
"Well you see Nate us Flushback and Wazzat have been enemies for a long time with them wanting to make people forget and us to make people remember. We just want to fight anytime we see each other. Um… like oh what is a good example. Oh like Vampires and Werewolves or um the Starwars and the Harry Potter fandoms (No offence to either fandom just a light joke my friend found on the internet)." said a Flushback.
"That is true. yeah." said most of the flushback or Wazzat.
"You see though us Wazzat are here because of what happened last night we can't have everyone knowing about yo-kai that would be pretty bad." said a Wazzat.
"Well okay I guess that is understandable but I think you did a good job now you are all just erasing peoples memories and don't worry most people think it is fake." said Nate.
"Oh good I guess we can be on our way then, sorry for the misunderstanding." said the same Wazzat.
"Wait so you guys are just going to leave?" asked Nate.
"Well yes we are going to spread out and make people forget the memories they don't like." said a Wazzat.
"And I guess we'll go too we are going to help people remember the good ones." said a Flushback. The two groups then left in opposite directions like all the chaos they caused never happened. "That's yo-kai for you." said Whisper breaking the fourth wall which is some thing he is not supposed to do. "Well sorry if I always get the short end of the stick for everything."
Anyway Nate said, "Thanks again Manjimutt and Fidgephant I couldn't have done this without you."
"See you around Nate it was nice to have company." said Manjimutt.
"Yeah I was happy to help." said Fidgephant. Then Nate's dad came running from the street Nate must have missed him leave the building because he had his papers in hand.
"Nate I found them I found my papers." said Aaron adams.
"That's great dad where did you find them?" asked Nate.
"Well I just remembered for some reason I left them at the bike place." said Aaron.
"What were you doing over there?" asked Nate.
"I'll tell you later I got to give a presentation now. Wait here." said Nate's dad before running past his son up the office.
"Hmm I wonder what he was doing over there." said Whisper.
"Me too." said Nate.
Nate's dad took him to Nom Burger to get a bit of food since his meeting went pretty long and Nate waited the whole time.
"Mum this is good." said Nate finishing his burger.
"Yeah it is." said the other man finishing his burger, "So Nate you have been pretty good lately and I was just remembering when I was your age. I used to love riding my bike everywhere. So your Mother and I decided that I could get you a bike."
"Wow really. That's so awesome I have been wanting a bike too." said Nate but then he remembered what he did last night, "No, no I don't deserve a bike. I'm not a good kid." with a frown.
"Oh sure you do, you have been so good, like today when you rushed over here to get me my work stuff even if my briefcase was empty you still tried to get it to me even if you aren't perfect and we know you aren't your mother and I think you are great. You're such a kind kid too." said Aaron, "So come on let's go pick up that new bike." Nate smiled and accepted it so he and his dad and Whisper all left to go to the bike shop. Whisper glad to see the father-son moment.
AN: Okay so I know that wasn't worth the wait but with school back in it is harder for me to write this and I have other things to do to. This doesn't mean I am going to stop this just means I won't be able to update twice a week like I used to but I am trying my best here and again I know his wasn't the best chapter but this was coming eventually. Also I am shaking up the yo-kai Nate summoning if you haven't noticed. Anyway hope you enjoyed please review.
