Chapter 30

Attack and Defence

AN: Okay so it took a week for me to do this but here we ae chapter 30, it may not be my best but I think it is good. So last time Nate got a bike and he is switching up his team a bit. I am still working hard on these chapters I even have a mini timeline for about the next 12 chapters I just have to put pen to paper. I am really glad I have made it this far with a fic and that someone actually bothered to read this far into my fic. I hope you enjoy chapter 30.

Disclaimer: I still don't own yo-kai watch, if I did I probably would have added a bit more customization to the bikes.

Nate was so glad about his new bike now he could get around quicker and he could get over to more places in a day. He loved his old bike but he grew out of it a lot of kids in Springdale had bikes, almost everyone in Nate's class had a bike. Kids even held bike races. He and oddly enough Katie were the only kids in their class who did have didn't have bikes. It felt good to Nate that he could take a ride around town. It was amazing to feel the wind in his hair and just to see all of Springdale in one roundabout though it got late by the time Nate and his dad got home he spent the whole next day riding his bike. It was a great day with no one to bother him no person or yo-kai. It was just him. His dad got him a bike with green handlebars, with the same green for the seat, and the petals, the frame was a light blue and it had yellow tires.

Today was another day Nate got up and did the usual bit he did in the morning and he felt great after such a good day yesterday. Whisper and Jibanyan were good too Jibanyan really appreciated the nap he got the day before and Whisper though alone was fine yesterday taking a day off especially since he was able to accompany Jibanyan as he trained. Nate even stocked up on some food for the yo-kai. This time Nate wasn't racing around town today so Whisper and Jibanyan went along with him. Nate was just going to meet up with his friends at the school since the three of them had bikes now. It was a nice simple ride.

"Ah, I see you really like your bike, Nate," said Whisper.

"Yeah it's really great to be able to ride it, it's fun and fast," said Nate.

"I remember going bike rides with Amy it was one of her favorite things to do I get the appel though her crazy riding drove me inyane. Too bad you don't have a basket I could ride in," said Jibanyan.

"Oh sorry about that Jibanyan, who is training going?" asked Nate.

"Pretty good actually Jibanyan has improved greatly he is bound to beat a truck eventually. I thought it was impossible when we first met but now he is really showing signs he might stand the tiniest of a chance," said Whisper.

"Yeah, I can feel myself getting so much stronger just like Komasan and Komajiro thanks for the help Nyate." said Jibanyan, "Wait a minute hey!" as he realized the insult in Whisper's words.

"That's great Jibanyan I am glad you are getting stronger," said Nate.

They made it to the school with no interruptions where Bear and Eddie were waiting for him with their own bikes.

"Hey, Nate." greeted Eddie.

"What's up?" asked Bear.

"Nothing much what about you guys?" asked Nate as he got off his bike and started walking over to the two boys.

"Same here just playing video games," said Eddie.

"And reading comics," added Bear.

"And watching TV," added Nate. The three boys laughed it had been a little bit since they all hung out together.

"So where should we go first?" asked Eddie pulling out his phone to look up places to go.

"I don't know we can't take our bikes to Mount Wildwood even if it would be pretty cool to see on a bike," said Nate.

"Yeah it would be." agreed Eddie.

"Hey wait before we go somewhere I really want to do something," said Bear.

"Okay what is it?" asked Nate.

"Yeah want do you wanna do Bear?" asked Eddie.

"I am going to make it to the top of that pole," said Bear.

"You mean those poles we have to climb for pe?" asked Nate.

"Yup I'm going to make it to the top," said Bear.

"Well I doubt you could make it to the very top but I bet you could make it pretty far up," said Eddie.

"So let's do it." Bear then ran to the poles. Eddie and Nate both chuckled as Bear ran off, Nate secured his bike and then he and Eddie ran after Bear.

"Wow Bear certainly has a lot of energy," said Whisper.

"Yeah he's always been the driving force of our team if it was just me and Eddie we would spend all our time figuring out what to do," said Nate.

"Yeah Bear's a pretty cool kid, unlike you two lameows," said Jibanyan.

"Hey!" said Nate. Bear was just getting started when the two other boys got there. Bear wasn't even halfway there when he slid down.

"*huff* *puff* *huff* how did I do?" asked Bear.

"Um well to be honest not that good but climbing the pole is pretty tough," said Eddie.

"You just need some more practice. I bet if you come here every day and climbed you might just reach the top," said Nate.

"Um… yeah Nate's right practice makes perfect," said Eddie.

"Yeah! So I'll get to practicing right now," said Bear as he climbed the pole again. After a few more tries failing to make it past the halfway point.

"Hey, guys what are you doing just standing there you guys should try too. It is fun to do and we could have a competition to see which one of us can get the furthest up there," said Bear.

"Sure why not," said Nate as he took the pole to the left of Bear's.

"Beats just watching you two climb," said Eddie taking the remaining pole to the right of Bear's.

"I'm going to try too," said Jibanyan taking the other side of Eddie's pole.

"I would try too but I float so that wouldn't be fair but you four have fun," said Whisper.

"You knyow two of us four can't hear you right?" asked Jibanyan. The four had fun competing to get to the top Eddie of course fell first not even a quarter of the way up. Bear was the next to fall making it further than he ever had before. Nate then fell just a couple inches from where Bear was and Jibanyan made it the furthest making it two thirds the way there.

"Wow *huff* *puff* *huff* how do you guys do it I barely made it a few feet off the ground," said Eddie.

"I just kept climbing but how did you make it so far up, Nate?" asked Bear.

"I don't know I guess like you said I just kept climbing not much else to it," said Nate.

"Hey, guys what's up?" asked a familiar voice. The three boys turned around and saw three other boys from their class. It was the dark-haired Andy, the blond and blue-eyed Daniel, and to complete their trio they had dark blond tanned Mark.

"So what's up guys?" Andy asked again.

"Yeah didn't expect you guys to be here at the school?" said Mark.

"But it is nice to see you guys again," said Daniel.

"Nice to see you guys too," said Nate with a smile.

"Yeah and we were just climbing the poles," said Bear.

"Yup so what are you guys doing here?" asked Eddie.

"Well you see we were hoping to play a game of soccer with some of the other kids but I guess we're the only ones here," said Daniel.

"So you guys were climbing up the pole, huh, you know we all do a pretty good job at climbing the pole," said Andy.

"Yeah how about you guys?" asked Mark.

"I would say Nate and Bear do pretty good but I don't do that great, to be honest," said Eddie.

"Hey, why don't we have a competition to see who can make it up the highest," said Andy.

"Oh hey that's what we were just doing," said Bear.

"Cool," said Mark.

"So let's do this," said Daniel.

"Oh boy this seems to have become more than just a friendly competition." said Whisper, "Almost like a new rivalry between these two trios of groups has been made."

"You're just weird." said Jibanyan, "I'm going to compete too, this is fun."

The boys had a lot of fun, they climbed up the poles multiple times usually three from the six at a time. Andy and Daniel seemed to be competing more with each other than everyone else as usual. Mark was a boss at climbing up the pole. He may not have made it to the top but he definitely made it up the furthest and won every time that he climbed. Bear was doing his best to keep up and did pretty good clinching second or first almost every time. Eddie and Nate on the other hand were dealt the worst hands for it though Nate was pretty good he couldn't keep up with Andy and Daniel's competition and he always slipped up with Bear and Mark leading him to get third most of the time though his highest was still better than Andy, Daniel, Bear, and Eddie's highest. Eddie always got last no matter what. He wasn't bothered by it though he was just glad he almost made it halfway up. Jibanyan mostly beat who was in first expect Mark who he just tied with.

"Wow you're really good at that," said Eddie who like his other friends were impressed by Mark's skills at climbing.

"Yeah and you're pretty bad at it but don't worry you're super smart and cool in other ways," said Mark.

"Well that was fun," said Andy.

"Agreed," said Bear.

"Same here," said Daniel.

"Yeah it was fun," said Nate.

"Okay so now that we had fun with our arms let's do something without feet," said Daniel.

"But wait we don't have enough kids to play soccer," said Nate.

"No, no, we're talking about a different way to play," said Andy.

"What do you mean?" asked Eddie.

"Let's have a bike race!" said Daniel.

"Oh cool," said Eddie.

"Heck yeah this is going to be fun," said Bear.

"Yes, I have been wanting to do one of these," said Nate.

"Oh yeah I heard you got a new bike." said Andy, "that's cool Nate."

"Okay and since I am tired from all the climbing I'll be the starter," said Mark.

"Cool so it will be a five-person race," said Andy.

"Just give us a second to grab our bikes." said Daniel, "Meet you at the front of the school." So then Andy, Mark, and Daniel left to the other side of the school.

"Okay see you guys." said Eddie, "Finally a competition I can win."

"Okay let's go." said Bear, "This will be fun."

"I'll meet you guys there," said Nate. The two boys shrugged and then walked over to the front of the school.

"Hey what's up Nate why don't you go with your friends?" asked Whisper.

"Oh probably because of that nyan," said Jibanyan.

"What do you mean?" asked Whisper.

"Well it seems a yo-kai has a problem," said Nate.

"How do you know that?" asked Whisper. Nate and Jibanyan both turned him around so he could see the yo-kai with a sword and a head that looked like a riceball. "Oh him."

"Ah hello I am Slicenrice, I am a humble rice warrior who aims to avenge my past life as a rice ball by defeating the powerful Oni. I am great with a sword with my blade. I can fell many powerful foes but there is one thing I am training to defeat and I was hoping you, Nate, the human who can see yo-kai would be able to help me train to defeat the vile, evil, horrendous, monster known as Hungramps." said Slicenrice.

"Wait a minute you're scared of Hungramps?" asked Jibanyan.

"Yes that fiend is pure evil he has eaten many of my kind," said Slicenrice.

"Um well maybe I could talk to my friend Hungramps and he could help you," said Nate.

"No, I have tried to negotiate with those insane maniacs but they won't listen to reason," said Slicenrice.

"Okay I guess I could train you but I am a bit busy today. I can help you out later though," said Nate.

"Sure thing," said Slicenrice before flashing blue producing his medal. Nate caught it and said, "thanks. I'll call you when we're ready to train."

"Oh no I would like to accompany you I know you have already taken down the powerful Oni Gargaros but I would still like to come just in case you must take on a powerful opponent," said Slicenrice.

"Nyice I get another day off cool," said Jibanyan.

"Okay I guess you can come with us," said Nate.

"Come on Nate you don't want to keep your friends waiting for too long," said Whisper.

"Okay, so we all know the course and the rules right?" asked Daniel.

"Yup," said Andy.

"Same here," said Eddie.

"I'm always ready," said Bear.

"Let's do this already," said Nate.

"Okay I since I'm the starter I'll be waiting here timing this we all know the rules so you guys be safe out there," said Mark.

Whisper said though no one but Nate, Jibanyan, and Slicenrice could hear him, "I'll be here too posting times on the yo-kai wiki."

Jibanyan said, "I'll race too I bet even on a Bike I am faster than all of you."

Slicenrice said, "Then I'll run to I want to improve might speed."

"Okay racers get ready," said Mark. Everyone grabbed their Bikes. Eddie had a deep green bike with orange wheels and brown streaks on the side with a bit of yellow. Bear had a navy blue bike with a pair of yellow lightning bolts on the side and green tires with purple. Daniel had a light blue bike with red wheels and green tires with a bit of purple on the side in a stripe. Andy had a purple bike with yellow wheels and light blue spirals. They all went to their position. "Okay get set, GO!" They were off Andy and Daniel taking the early lead with Bear and Eddie close behind. Nate was weaving past both to get up to the front and while Slicenrice fell behind Jibanyan was up with Andy and Daniel. It was a fairly easy race they were darting past the bakery around to the fish place past triangle park, ending at the school. They raced a few times Bear somehow always got first; he beat Andy and Daniel early on because they burned themselves out too early in the race. Eddie took second determined to do better on his bike than on the pole. Nate got third while Andy and Daniel always got last in a tie. Jibanyan kept up with Eddie most of the way, sometimes keeping up with Bear but Slicenrice always tied with Andy and Daniel.

"Okay this time I am going to win," said Andy.

"No you'll never beat me," said Daniel.

"A but you haven't beat me yet," said Andy.

"You haven't beat me either," said Daniel.

"Are they always like this?" Eddie asked Mark.

"Yeah, pretty much it's fine I am used to it," said Mark.

"Hey Mark, you want to switch with me? I want to check something," said Nate.

"Sure thing Nate," said Mark. Mark got on his bike and they prepared to start.

"Okay ready, set, GO!" said Nate before the five started on their bikes.

"Ah, very kind of you to take over so Mark could go," said Whisper.

"Nyah he only stopped because he wanted to stop losing to Bear and Eddie," said Jibanyan.

"No Nate has more honor than that," said Whisper.

"Yes this young man must have great pride from all those races," said Slicenrice.

"Well, actually I was thinking there was a yo-kai," said Nate while he scanned the area with his watch to Whisper's disappointment.

"Oh wow, really Nate so you lost a couple times that doesn't mean there is a yo-kai here," said Whisper.

"Well yeah and I am fine with losing a few times but I just think it is weird how I keep getting third, in both the poles and this race, and now Bear keeps getting first after he got second around every time when he climbed the poles and now Eddie keeps getting second," said Nate.

"Hmm that is odd," said Slicenrice.

"Still there is no yo-kai that can manipulate both pole climbing and bike races," said Whisper.

"There could be more than one," suggested Jibanyan.

"There they are," said Nate. There before the four stood three yo-kai, the first was a weird small golden temple with a face a mustache, orange eyes, and it was holding a flag with them with a one mark on it, the second one looked silver with blue eyes holding a flag marked with a two mark on it, the third was a bronze temple with white eyes holding a flag marked with a three mark on it.

"Hmm it seems there were three yo-kai right there and we all somehow didn't notice them," said Slicenrice.

"Seriously how do you guys not see these guys!" said Nate.

"I blame Whisper, he's been a bad influence on my yo-kai skills," said Jibanyan leaving Whisper baffled.

"Don't worry I am will fight them," said Slicenrice.

"Wait no, they might be friendly." said Nate, "We can't just attack them."

"I am Castelius I," said the golden temple.

"I am Castelius II," said the silver temple.

"I am Castelius III," said the bronze temple.

"Ah yes the Castelius line." said Whisper, "these three cause inspirits that make people get first, second, and third all the time respectively."

"Oh so wait were you guys inspiriting me and my friends?" asked Nate.

"Why yes, we were," said Castelius I.

"We love competitions," said Castelius II.

"Wait then why do you manipulate them?" asked Nate.

"Well, we love competitions be we also like to decide who wins," said Castelius III.

"Yes, we love to pick favorites," said Castelius II.

"Wait so why did you guys choose who you chose?" asked Jibanyan.

"I personally liked that guy Mark's attitude he was the guy who wouldn't care if he won, I love those types of guys," said Castelius I, "And that guy bear really earned his place working really hard."

"I liked Bear's style before Castelius I did but hey Eddie deserved a couple close wins after all of his losses," said Castelius II.

"I just chose Eddie because he really wasn't trying." said Castelius III, "And I chose you because you looked average."

"Really, of course," said Nate, "Every yo-kai thinks I am average."

"Don't worry Nate I will make them regret their words," said Slicenrice running with his blade toward the three Castelius.

"No Slicenrice!" called Nate but it was too late. Slicenrice's blade hit Castelius III. Castelius III felt some pain but then attacked Slicenrice with his flag.

"That's it the gloves are off," said Castelius III before he started parrying Slicenrice's blade with his flag. The other two Casteliuses got in the fight too.

"Well I guess it is time to fight." said Jibanyan, "And I was having such a good day off."

"I guess we're doing this now." said Nate, "Come on out my friend, calling roughraff, yo-kai medal do your thing."

"What the heck are you guys doing," said Roughraff "I was having such a good time making kids make bad choices."

"Well we need you to help Jibanyan and Slicenrice," said Nate.

"Fine," said Roughraff, "But only because it looks fun." Jibanyan, Slicenrice, and Roughraff attacked again and again but only Castelius III fell after a barrage of attacks, and even then they got tired from all the fighting because the Casteliuses were too tough.

"How do you keep withstanding our attacks?" asked Slicenrice.

"You made a big mistake challenging us. We are the strongest yo-kai in terms of defense," said Castelius I

"of course we are very weak offense-wise, and speed-wise, and inspirit-wise, and technique-wise," said Castelius II.

"Why do you keep telling people that?" asked Castelius I sightly annoyed.

"I am really sorry Slicenrice attacked you guys we didn't mean to attack you guys," said Nate.

"Yes I read on my yo-kai pad you guys like milk so here take a few glasses," said Whisper as he handed them each glasses of milk.

Castelius I said, "Hmm well thank you for the milk, and we understand this one is a bit eager to train we would be happy to help him out, in fact, we'll live you and your friends alone so you can have a non-tainted race." Castelius III got back up and all three yo-kai glowed blue before giving Nate their medals.

"Ah yes, the Castelius' will be great yo-kai to have on the team," said Whisper.

"So when do we start training?" asked Slicenrice.

"We can start right now," said Castelius II.

"Yes let's do it," said Castelius III. The four yo-kai then left to start training in the gym. The five racers got back from their third race this time Eddie won breaking his streak of second-place wins.

"Nice job guys," said Nate.

"Yeah I finally won," said Eddie.

"Great job Eddie," said Bear.

"And look who we found on the way," said Daniel. They found Casey, Alex, Sarah, and Zoey all on their bikes.

"Yeah now after we race we can play a game of soccer," said Andy.

"Yup I am down for anything as long as you guys are ready to lose," said Alex.

"We're not going easy on you," said Sarah.

"Yup everyone for themselves," said Casey.

"All start us off. I feel good about my win," said Eddie.

"No need we all know the course it's just who get's here first," said Zoey.

"Okay then let's do this," said Andy. Everyone then got in their positions and got ready to go.

"Hey mind if I join." asked the familiar girl known as Katie as she stopped in front of the group on her cherry-red bike.

"Woah Katie you never told me you got a new bike," said Nate.

"You didn't either," said Katie.

"She's got you there Nate," said Alex.

"You can join Katie more the merrier right," said Daniel.

"Yup and you are just in time," said Andy.

"Well come on let's go," said Mark.

All together they said, "Ready, Set… GO!" and they were off it was a crazy start but Katie and Nate exploded to the front looking as determined as ever to win.

AN: So there it is Nate befriended Castelius I, II, and III. They will not be too important yet but Nate might summon them more often. Nate also has Slicenrice to train now he will be part of the Oni subplot so I hope you like him. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed, please review.
