T49: Angel Stars.

Back in the forest, inside the cave, Cameron, Rocco, Leo, Mickey, Todd, the squirrel and the Racoon were all sound asleep up against the wall, with Mickey lying beside Cameron on the right and Todd lying beside the empty space on his right where Will once sat and slept-his backpack up against the wall on the left. The campfire had also been put out and the squirrel and coon were lying next to each other.

Mickey awoke and saw that Will was gone. The Dalmatian puppy got up and nudged Cameron a few times.

Cameron awoke and looked down and saw that Mickey was awake. "Mickey? What's wrong?" He whispered.

Mickey looked to Cameron's left and the boy looked beside him and saw that Will was gone.

Cameron looked out the cave and saw that Will was standing outside in the forest, looking up at something. "Wait here." He whispered to Mickey before getting to his feet and walked out of the cave. He walked over to Will's right side, stood by him and saw he was looking at the starry night sky and the full moon.

"Will...what are you doing out here?" Cameron asked, looking at the Manning boy.

"I just thought i'd come out here and look at the stars for a while." Will answered.

"Why?" Cameron asked.

"Cameron?" Will asked.

"Yeah?" Cameron asked.

"Do you ever wonder what those stars are up there?" Will asked.

"Huh? Well, when i was 3 and 4, i thought they were fireflies." Cameron said.

"What do you think they are now?" Will asked.

"Since the age of 7, i've thought they were just big balls of hot air a million miles from here." Cameron said. "Will?"

"Yeah?" Will asked.

"Can i ask you something?" Cameron asked.

"Sure." Will said.

"We're friends, right?" Cameron asked.

Will looked at Cameron. "Of course we are."

"And we'll always be, right?" Cameron asked.

"Cameron...let me tell you something that my Mom once told me." Will said. "Look at the stars." He said as he looked back up at the starry night sky.

Cameron looked up at the stars in the night sky.

"The great Angels of Heaven look down on us from those stars." Will said.

"Really?" Cameron asked.

"Yes. So whenever you feel alone...just remember...that those Angels will always be there to guide you." Will said.

"You mean a bunch of Angels are watching us?" Cameron asked.

"...Yes." Will answered, smiling.

"Do you think our families are gonna flip out?" Cameron asked. "You know, when we see them again?" He asked as he looked at Will. He had been thinking about this since the night he, Will and the others had left Monica's house, how their families would react when they returned home and he knew it wouldn't be a positive response.

"Why would they?" Will asked as he looked at Cameron.

"Will, if they manage to find us before we get to the Fox Village in the mountains-"

"Hey...nobody's gonna find us." Will said, cutting Cameron off. "Okay? We will see them when we return home. And by that time, Todd will be in the village with his own kind."

"Where are we gonna say that we've been?" Cameron asked.

"We'll tell them the truth. That we ran away into the woods to set a fox free in the mountains...and he's living in a fox village." Will said.

"I guess they'll understand if we're honest with them." Cameron said.

"See? You got this." Will said, smiling.

"Well, as long as we keep it truthful, then we'll be able to explain everything." Cameron said.

"We can do it." Will said.

"So what are you gonna do after we've set Todd free?" Cameron asked.

"Uh...i don't know. I haven't really thought of that." Will asked.

"Come on. Let's get some more shut-eye." Cameron said before he and Will turned and proceeded to headed back for the cave, only for a grunt sound to stop them in their tracks, followed by them turning to see a male Moose and a yellow rabbit exiting the darkness, stepping/hopping into view. "Why, hello there. What are you guys doing up so late at night?"

"Judging by the way they just showed up here outside the cave...i'd say they're looking for a place to sleep." Cameron said.

"Well, don't just stand there, come on in out of the dark. We have plenty of room." Will said to the Moose and rabbit while smiling at them.

The Moose and rabbit began walking/hopping towards Cameron and Will, folloed by the boys turning and heading back towards the cave where the others were, with the two new animal guests following.
