AN: I love the aesthetic of Yashahime Manga characters and how they are drawn and so with this story i'd like for those to imagine that look through the story with a modern twist. I also don't think Ive come across any real stories of the characters being college students.
This will be a slow burn, supernatural, romantic, and mystery fic. Full of so many avenues that anyone could enjoy reading. I plan to make it pretty long. So on with the story. Enjoy!
1st chapter is an introductory section to get the feels of who the characters are although there will be many who will make their appearance a bit later in the story. So I've updated this chapter a bit. (Pilot)
Single quotations are 'Thoughts'.

1943. 80 years before.
Somewhere near Iwaki-san. Hyakuzawa Hirosaki, Aomori Japan.
"We have gathered nearly two thirds of the kunjen. There is a ways to go, but for now, I believe we have more than enough for the next couple decades." A tall, white-haired man dressed in dark colored mining gear and helmet, swiftly tossed it onto the beaten dirt. He was greeted by a familiar face, a trusted friend he grew to appreciate over the centuries. "And you said it couldn't be done. I believe you owe me a drink."
"Shinjirarenai! Tsukuyomaru, you all have done well. I will relay this information to Inuyasha and Sesshomaru. I have waited so long to hear of this as well as Jiro. And I hope the boys will be more than delighted to discover this news!"
"Toga," Tsukuyomaru stated, smiling from ear to ear and reached to pat him on the right shoulder. "The success of these stones has greatly advanced our chances of protection for our own kind. I share the sentiment but, I have some doubt that Sesshomaru or Inuyasha would care for the salvation or protection of anyone that is not in relation to... themselves," He chuckled lightly. "However, I can appreciate their passions for power."
"I know my sons. They will be persuaded." Toga reassured confidently. "Now, what are your updates on its mechanical progress?"
"The kunjen have been transported, heated, and broken down into powder. Since the discovery of these substances, we have been met with unbelievable abilities that will allow our own weapons to be beyond what the humans have and will discover over the years. It must remain confidential."
"Indeed. It is also imperative that our nature remains a secret. However, since the appearance of Touji and his allies. It has become increasingly difficult to stay hidden. As long as I have lived, I would have never suspected that the humans would come this far at destroying us."
"Their motive to eradicate our kind is unrealistically blinding and has always been a mystery for us." Tsukuyomaru added.
"It is obvious that their motives derive from pure envy." The deep baritone of a voice echoed from within the nearby trees as he approached the pair. "They especially despise our clan. Their efforts are nothing but a fool's errand."
"Sesshomaru!" exclaimed Toga. "My son, where is your brother? There is something I wish to discuss with you both."
"Father, I do not dally about with that half-breed. Nor would I care for the knowledge of his needless trifles." Sesshomaru retorted without an ounce of sentiment. His father simply gazed at him before scoffing.
Sesshomaru was indifferent, stoic, and nonchalant as ever. His father never understood his lack of emotions. He was nothing like him when it came to the matters of the heart, love, or family. Sesshomaru's mother was the very same way. His marriage and swift departure from their family, ending in divorce, would have all been a waste if it had not been for the birth of their son. Toga had learned then that love carried a deeper meaning than the physical appeal and infatuation of his once beloved.
"You're impassive as ever my boy!" Toga replied.
Sesshomaru gave his father an infamous non-blinking stare. Eyes fixed.
A loud thud and landing was heard behind them and by his scent alone, Toga knew his other son was present long enough and due to his impeccable hearing, he was sure he had overheard the conversation.
"He's a bigot!" Inuyasha leaped down from the sky. "Ya' know I don't care to know of your whereabouts either. I have my own problems to deal with."
"What is it Father?" Sesshomaru asked, completely ignoring his half-brother.
"It's good to see you both. And all in the same place. How convenient?" Tsukuyomaru stated. They were all too familiar with the disinterest of the brothers of each other. "Let us convene in the meeting room, shall we?"
The group began their walk to Toga's estate hidden deep in a forest in Japan.
"As you both know, Tsukuyomaru and his comrades have been digging near the mountains of Iwaki-san. There have been many tales, centuries back, of an asteroid falling to the earth from the cosmos. It has not been ventured for some time until we decided to explore it and we then made a discovery." Toga began.
"A... discovery?" Inuyasha inquired.
"Yes, Inuyasha! It would appear that said asteroid landed within the volcano and elements from it shattered and emerged within it over time." Toga explained. "Throughout our discovery we encountered these... stones."
"Stones?" Sesshomaru questioned, skeptical.
Toga looked toward Tsukuyomaru, nodding for his input. "Yes! Stones. Well, we call them the kunjens. We have been on a quest to find more resources and intel on the advancement of weaponry. The humans have unearthed numerous advantages in technology and as you both know our species has diminished significantly over the pass four centuries. Rivalry, greed, envy, and of course the lack of reproduction, has left us globally deficient. We have remained a constant target since the ongoing arrogance of other yokai towards the human race has done nothing but make matters worse. At this point, we are thought to be extinct and we plan to keep it that way." Tsukuyomaru lectured. "Over a year ago one of our companions, Jiro, stumbled across a particularly interesting smell near the volcano in Hyakuzawa Hirosaki. After some digging near the surface he discovered the stones underneath layers of dirt. The scent, as he described, was otherworldly. Fortunately for us, his curiosity led him to gather a portion of it and he brought it back to us in Aomori where we have our research lab. After months of research and experimentation, we've learned that the stones seem to have capabilities never before seen of this world. Capabilities that have baffled us as modern scientists in extraordinary ways."
"Father, what does this mean for us?" Inuyasha asked. Sesshomaru looked on with much interest as he once did at the discovery of his first sword given to him by his father, Tenseiga. At that time he had learned that the sword had the ability to bring the dead back to life. The disadvantage of that, to him, was that it required far more from him than he'd care for.
A heart fraught with compassion. A selfless heart.
'Useless,' he often thought. In efforts to max out its full potential, his father had gifted him, of all people, something like that. In any hope to teach him such a childish lesson.
At once he heard of this, his neglect for the sword was a given.
Since then, many centuries passed. With time, he slowly grew to appreciate it, realizing the importance of valuing life and that not everything centered around his own personal gain, mastering his demonic strength, or fulfilling conquest to overpower even the greatest of empires. He surmised then that those seemingly unusual attributes his father lived by was an essential part of truly becoming the dog-demon he forever longed to become. Somehow though, somewhere within his inner conscience, there was something missing.
"This means that we have the advantage. The research lab in Aomori now belongs to our clan. Its headquarters must remain within these walls," Toga informed sternly. "Our team was able to break the stones down into a powder substance and extract its elements. These elements when placed within our swords, with the help of Totosai, not only advances its abilities, but aids as a barrier to protect us from gunfire and explosives."
Sesshomaru and Inuyasha were even more equally engaged now.
"We also discovered something even more incredible about its' abilities," Tsukuyomaru added. "It can actually, um...," he hesitated. "...communicate."
"Nani?"
"Inuyasha, what he means is,... well, what he have learned is that it speaks to its' user." Toga explained. "Unbelievable as it sounds, it can sense threats and give us audible warnings before hand. For example, once the substance is placed within an object and that object has an owner, it will assume the owner as a 'Master' and protect them from any possible danger."
"Have any of you thought of the repercussions of this?" Sesshomaru abruptly interjected. "And what if the humans discover this, as well as other demons who live for seeking supreme power?"
"That is an excellent observation, son. And you do have a point there." Toga agreed.
"The humans are constantly probing for more ways to annihilate anyone or anything that is deemed a threat to them. Touji is it, his horde is growing in numbers by the day."
"He is our main adversary and due to his influence within the government, his wealth and nobility, that rise in power has become in inconvenience for our species. We are doing everything we can to ensure he will never discover any of this! Your judgment of this matter is something we all equally share." Toga leaned in closer toward the seated group. "My sons, I must share with you that we have not fully understood all of the Kunjens power or even how it has become something that we could have never known to possibly exist, as beneficial as it is. But, one for I am sure you both will be even more excited about is its ability to... camouflage."
Tsukuyomaru placed both of his palms together, plastering a triumphant smile on his face. "This is where it really gets good."
Sesshomaru lifted an eyebrow one fourth an inch. Inuyasha looked on completely perplexed. Toga looked at his sons as if he could no longer contain himself. "My boys, now I have spoken with you both about the potential for us to one day hide in plain sight. In the lab, Jiro also discovered by ingesting the powdered substance, a demon can use these stated abilities within themselves as well as the ability to appear human for a short period of time."
Sesshomaru abruptly stood from his chair in huff and swiftly turned, taking several steps towards the door to exit.
"Sesshomaru!" Toga called. "Please, hear the rest of what I have to say of this."
"This has been a wasteful use of my time! In what world would this Sesshomaru ever delight in such foolishness?"
"In efforts to blend in with the humans, it has become vital that we keep our existence hidden. We also will have better access in the main world where we will no longer need to keep ourselves cut off from society!"
"With all of the innumerable escapades of your discoveries. Are we not now capable of overcoming the humans or any of our enemies as we are?" Sesshomaru retorted callously.
"That is not the goal son." Toga reminded and stood to meet his son face to face. "We will utilize these advantages for protection only."
Sesshomaru paused reflectively.
"Is it your objective to remain hidden forever?"
"Hn," Sesshomaru replied and slowly unsheathed his second sword, Bakusaiga. He then stretched his right arm out to his father, sword in hand, without giving him his gaze. "Do what you must."
Toga took the sword and Sesshomaru quickly exited the room.
"He took it better than I thought." Tsukuyomaru shrugged and turned towards Inuyasha. "And what are your thoughts?"
"I'm tired of hiding honestly," Inuyasha unsheathed his sword, Tessaiga. "Anything that'll make my sword better works for me. I'm in!"
"Excellent! Let us journey to Amori then." Toga cheered and Tsukuyomaru nodded in agreement.
Present Day: California, USA
*Beep Beep Beep*
Rin tossed and turned in her chilled tucked sheets, quickly being reminded of a new day once the light of the sun and her sounding alarm called to her that she needed to prepare for another Monday.
This was her last year in nursing school and it had been the most challenging of them all. Through all the exams, assessments, clinical rotations, and constant reminders that even though she worked tirelessly to prove her readiness to one day reach the hierarchy of being a trusted practitioner, she had much to learn and prove her worthiness.
Rin had applied and was accepted into one of the most prestigious nursing schools in California. Scottman University, apart of one of the largest universities on the west coast. The Academy for Nursing Excellence was one of the most rigorous nursing programs in the country and Rin was beyond proud of herself for finally being accepted. SU welcomed many different types of students from all over the world. Even with its copious amount of degrees, its' nursing school was the highlight of the University.
With California's sunny beaches and pleasant forests, it was definitely ideal for vacations and tourist alike. Rin was always desperate for time with friends and family to enjoy the many endeavors of The Golden State.
Rin turned back over underneath her sheets, ignoring the dreadful ringing of her alarm, but was once again jolted to wake upon hearing an all too familiar sound that rang muffled under her pillow. With patted fingers, Rin blindly searched for her phone before nearly throwing an adjacent pillow to the side.
And there it was, flashing at her, the name of her best friend, Kagome Higurashi. Best friends since well before middle school. Kagome and Rin traveled to California together seeking the same path to become capable of tasks that many would deem as "playing God". To save lives and literally guide unfortunate sickly beings from the dead to the living. It was an understatement to call it a privilege and to have the access of such a knowledge.
"Kagome!" Rin answered after clearing her throat in attempts to sound as if she had not recently risen from a rest that was familiarly cut short.
"Rin, I know you are still in bed aren't you?" Kagome assessed and already refreshed for the day. She was currently packing the mountain of books she, as well as Rin, had grown accustomed to carrying around campus.
"Kagome?" Rin immediately heard her deeply sigh on her end of the call. Rin roughly brushed the strands of hair back that had fallen down her face and rubbed the somnolence from her eyes. Her hair was chestnut brown and very long, trailing down to her mid-thighs in a loose wave. Kagome was also similar in the way she wore her hair, with the exception that Kagome's hair was shorter, ending at her waist.
"Rin it's already six in the morning. Are you still meeting me at Dukes' at seven?" Kagome asked before doing a once over her belongings. She had plans of reviewing more notes from the latest of all things medical/surgical. Last week they had finally reached the cardiovascular system and for Kagome, it was her favorite topic when she pledged to herself that she would become a charge nurse in one of the most well-known CVICUs in San Francisco. Rin however, had yet to decide her speciality being that in nursing, there were dozens of options to choose from and even when one did not find their first choice and the trepidations of it, in due time, their experience would lead them there.
"Yes, I'll be there. On time ... I'll be there, okay." Rin ended the call, finally finding her feet on her carpeted floors. If Kagome or her alarm had not awaken her, the beaming streams of sunlight through her window would have.
Rin and Kagome lived in private dorm apartments, adjacent to campus, only doors down from each other. After relinquishing the public dorm life that at first invited them in as freshmen to all the exclusive parties and events, it grew tiresome after while. Considering their incredibly busy schedules, a life on campus quickly became a thing of the past, especially after gaining the 'freshman 15', as some had called it. But for the two students, they quickly realized how easy it was to be consumed in campus life. However, free time was essential to the balance of things in efforts to not lose irreplaceable sanity.
Dukes' Bistro was one of the coffee and lounge areas for students on campus and one where Kagome and Rin would frequent often. Most of the time it was rather quiet during earlier hours of the morning. Opening at seven in the morning with the fresh aroma of coffee filling throughout morning air, invited students from all over as they started their day. It was one of the best places to stop, chat, and study before classes, which all usually started around 8am.
Rin stood in front of her the mirror and began her usual morning routine. After brushing her teeth, flossing, and applying her skin care, she applied some light concealer under her eyes and cheeks. She dabbed her outer cheeks in a light pink blush, applied mascara on her eyelashes, and finished with a neutral-colored gloss.
"Wait, I'm forgetting something." She motioned in attempts to straighten out her eyebrows. Once that failed she quickly grabbed her eyebrow kit to straighten them out a bit until, to her, they were even. "They are sisters, not twins." She reminded herself per Kagome's antics.
She was beautiful. Dark copper eyes, long flowing tresses and fair-skinned alike to Kagome. More for confidence than arrogance, she had every reason to feel that she was stunning. At the moment she was single. As well as Kagome. Considering their schedules, dating had become a challenge, partly due to the fact that most men on campus were simply, 'living in the moment'.
"How disgusting?" Kagome often chanted throughout their prowling on campus. From frat boys to hungry freshmen, dating seemed to be far from their reach. And not one decent young man seemed to walk the grounds of said campus.
After brushing through her hair, she grabbed a pair of light blue jeans that flared at the bottom, an all white long-sleeved top, and put on a pair of chestnut colored flats. She had already packed her mountain of books, her MacBook, chargers, writing utensils, and placed them in her rolling backpack. She was thankful for days where she could wear what she wanted but, at the same time she loved wearing her scrubs on campus, already feeling the pride of holding the power and honor of a 'Hero.'
After locking her door and stepping out of her private dorm apartment, she immediately breathe in the fresh smell of earthly morning air. It was early enough that not many students graced the campus grounds with their chattering and gossip.
"Good morning!" Kagome nearly screeched upon Rin entering the doors of Duke's Bistro.
Rin sighed and hauled her large rolling backpack towards her seated best friend. "Kagome, some students are still sleeping, possibly hung-over from the weekend. You want to wake the entire campus so they can bombard our little spot?" Rin immediately smiled and lunged toward Kagome in a tight hug. "You are so much more of a morning person than I am. I'll go order the usual, okay." Rin said, placing her bags beside the table.
"Mocha this time, and please tell them no milk. Last time I had the gas of a three month old!" Kagome nearly shouted. Rin snorted, holding her lips in a straight line once the cashier covered his mouth in attempts to muffle a giggle.
"Please excuse my friend, she's completely oblivious of her loud mouth," Rin giggled. "Um,... let's see. We'll have two mocha lattes, grande, oh, and please no milk."
Once the cashier nodded, Rin turned her attention towards ringing bell of the Bistro's entrance, spotting two other students enter. Two of whom she knew the faces of all to well.
"Sango, Sheensa!" Rin greeted. Sango and Sheensa were two of Rin and Kagome's friends they met during the first week of freshmen orientation, almost four years ago.
Sango always wore her hair high up in hair clips, pins or wraps. She was fair-skinned with bright rosy cheeks and light brown eyes. She was tall towering at 5'9" in comparison to Rin who was 5'4" and Kagome 5'6". She was strong-willed, attractive, and trust-worthy. She was known to be the connoisseur of all things sports. If there was a home game for the football team, she would always try to invite her friends and give them pointers on what the hell was actually going on during the games.
Sango was from a proud family of detectives and those who sought justice for all kinds of heinous and vicious acts. Sango herself dealt with the death of her father who at the time was in the process of uncovering many unsolved cases. As of recent, for far too many times to count, there were cases that led to absolutely no where, with rumors of attacks leaving behind evidence from their victims with burn marks, lacerations, and wounds not possibly created by man-made weapons. The injuries were so savage and gruesome it left the viewer needing days off after cleaning up the remains. This only motivated Sango all the more, ranking at the top of her class, until she could herself discover who or whatever did what they did to her father. Her father was found miles from their home in the middle of no where when officers found him in a state, as they called it, 'barbaric and inhumane' of his remains. The case was still unsolved at this point and growing cold as it had been five dreadful long months of searching with no real answers. Sango never shared the details of his death. And no one from the group pressed her about it. Everything else had been a complete mystery. At this time Sango took on a more cheery outlook with a level of optimism that was simply inspiring. She had hoped that soon, she could solve her own father's case.
Sheensa was as lively as Kagome. Her bubbly and direct personality radiated throughout a room. She was obsessed with her physically aesthetics, especially as a fashion major. She often wore her hair in long braids. Russet colored skin, butterfly eyelashes fluttered over her eyes, and you would never see her leave her house without an attire that was runway worthy. She was well-known on campus for that.
"Come sit with us. We're right over here!" Rin pointed towards a waving Kagome after picking up the two delicious cups of coffee.
"Hey, did you hear about the speed-advice event with Alumni and Professionals this week?" chimed Sheensa. "It's a chance for students to get tips within our majors and who knows, maybe some single wealthy tycoon will delightfully grace our campus for once!" She exclaimed, waving imaginary sweat from her face.
"I've heard, and you better believe I'll be there." Kagome laughed eagerly then looked at Rin sitting to the right to her. "Would you mind curling my hair like you did that one date night a few months back?"
"Only if you promise to give me my charger back you borrowed two months ago." Rin demanded and chuckled after hearing Sango and Sheensa giggle.
"We are technically sisters Rin. What's yours is always mine."
"You're never getting that back you know." Sango chimed without glancing at either of them as she scrolled through her phone. She was hardly paying any attention to the group lightly flushed at whatever or whoever enveloped her attention in that moment. Rin sneered.
"What do we have here Sango? Is it the frat boy Miroku again?" Kagome asked while placing her small finger to tilt Sango's cellphone directly out of her line of vision.
"Scandalous!" Sheensa chimed in a sing song voice.
"And... promiscuous."
"Rin!" Sango screeched, displaying the most inconceivable glare before she slammed her cellphone on the table in such a loud clack, the cashier began silently intruding on the conversation.
"What? Am I wrong?" Rin gazed around, viewing the faces of each of her friends. Sango who was completely head over heels for one of the most notorious womanizers at SU. "Sango, you are much more than someone like him. I mean look who he shares his space with. The other frat guys Koga, Sam, and who else, Naraku." She reminded, counting on her fingers. "They literally take advantage of their perks in the frat to lure innocent freshmen."
"Bloody damn rake." Sheensa spat in her supposed english accent.
"Please stop!" Kagome stated, laughingly glaring at Sheensa.
Sheensa mouthed 'What did I say' with two palmed hands up.
"He is a bloody rake." Rin repeated in efforts for Sango to side with them.
"A stunning one no less."
"Kagome!" Rin spat out, daring her to say another word.
"I'm just saying, he is! We can't ignore the physical appeal of that perfectly trimmed beard, perfect hair, and charm with most all women," Kagome paused before peering over at Rin, ignoring the sweat drop beaming off her forehead. "I've also observed that he can be a complete gentleman and I've never seen him disrespect Sango."
Rin sighed.
"Thank you Kagome!" Sango exclaimed triumphantly, pointing her right index finger towards her. "Speaking of the devil. Miroku may be stopping by here in a bit."
"Isn't that just convenient?" Rin rolled her eyes and proceeded to open one of her nursing books for a quick review before class.
"I also heard that Kat Krishan would be arriving for the event this week. I have literally forever wanted to begin my intership with her in New York. Do you know of all the many high-end brands I could create for her by simply studying under her? INSANE!" Sheensa exclaimed.
"She's coming? Oh, I'm definitely going." Kagome exclaimed, sharing her sentiment. "I would die to even own one handbag in her closet!"
"Sango do you have any interests for the upcoming event for criminal justice? I'm sure their table will ofter a plethora of resources." Rin began in their own side conversation.
"I dunno. I already have my feet pretty deep with what my family has arranged over the years. But, I suppose speaking to someone about career paths that I haven't really thought of. Something like the victims advocates. The harassment in this city and even this campus has gone far unnoticed and of course more people would speak out if they felt they had someone they could trust." Sango explained, staring down at her hands.
"Sango, I have also heard of the recent assaults of civilians being brutally assaulted by, as I have read, 'unbelievable forces'. And for those who managed to live to tell the story, they can never remember what happened to them with the exception of the shock their bodies endured. Has your family or the department on campus or even the city, discover any more indications for these acts?" Rin placed her palms over Sango's in efforts to not arouse any added torment of what they all knew of her father perishing from such similar accounts.
"I... we have not." Sango admitted. "But no need to burden yourself with these gruesome atrocities. One thing I know is that we will get down to the bottom of this. One way or another." She smiled and for Rin that was more than enough for comfort from her dear friend. At least for now.
Sango's attention was now back on her cellphone and Rin found herself rereading the same paragragh while the others chatted away on all things fashion designing. 'Okay, preload and afterload from the heart muscles has pretty tremendous effects on the heart's pressures. Wasn't that what we learned last wee-'
"Miroku!" Sango sang eagerly and Rin was immediately drawn back to the beginning of her thoughts.
Miroku was indeed the eye-candy of SU. Short black hair graced his collarbone- brushing against his finely trimmed stubble. His eyes drew women in from all over and his body was sculpted to perfection. Right along with Koga, also known as 'the blue eyed devil'. He was just as handsome and wore his long black hair up in a high-ponytail. They infamously wore their fraternity apparel just about every day on campus.
"Hi beautiful! I had to stop by before class to see you," Miroku rushed over, followed by Koga, and tightly embraced the now standing Sango. He waved over toward the seated group before continuing, "How did you sleep- oh wait, I dont think you or your friends have met two of my new friends looking to join the frat." He motioned behind him, towards two unfamiliar faces. "This is Inuyasha and his brother Sesshomaru. They traveled here from Japan before the beginning of the semester."
Immediately once the two students approached, Sango froze. They were both, quite unusual looking, in the most attractive way- holding the appearance of something otherworldly and ethereal. Their features were utterly divine, breathtaking even, to such a degree, she felt herself began to stutter. "Wha-... who,... who are they?"
"Umm,... my friends." Miroku answered with an arched brow. "Okay, I know they're... 'different'. They say it's from their father's distinguished blood-line or something. I have no idea what that freakin' means but, one things for sure, our frat parties will never be the same." High-fived Miroku to a now approaching Koga.
"Where's Sheensa?" Koga asked searching the Bistro when his eyes immediately landed on her sitting with the group who were presently unaware of the newcomers.
"O-o… over there." Sango pointed, eyes stilled glued on the two brothers. "Sorry, I'm Sango. It's a pleasure to meet you both." Sticking out her hand, she was met with four honey golden eyes, but only one hand was outstretched to greet her.
"Hey, I'm Inuyasha. Sports major. And this is my stiff neck of a brother, Sesshomaru." Inuyasha greeted and flashed his brother with a disgruntled look. Inuyasha and Sango watched as his brother stood there, detached and indifferent. His face was cold and stoic-like as he gazed out of a nearby window, appearing completely disinterested in anything at all surrounding him. Then he spoke.
"Must you drag us around the entire campus at your leisure, Miroku?" Sesshomaru spat not even addressing the hand presented in front of him.
"Bastard." Inuyasha stated.
"It's fine." Sango blushed. "Please, come meet my friends. Campus life grows a little smoother the more people you know." Sango walked a few steps towards the table followed by Miroku, Koga, and Inuyasha. "So guys, Miroku and Koga have met some interesting new friends. They are brothers and uh... where did you say you were from again?"
"Kuso!" Inuyasha sharply gushed. Everyone from the group darted their eyes towards his sharp and expressive remark.
Inuyasha's eyes landed on a giggling girl who immediately stopped her chatting once their eyes met.
Kagome gasped, "Fwahh!" Her eyes not wavering for even a second once she laid eyes on him.
"Kagome, what is it?" Rin asked.
"Damn," cursed Sheensa once she was greeted with who literally took Kagome's breath away. "I mean, hello." she corrected and smiled from ear to ear.
Rin fixed her eyes on Inuyasha for a moment as he studied her best friend rather intensely. 'Who the hell is he?' She then traced her eyes around the room and blinked them rapidly, attempting to clear her vision of what, or rather who, she couldn't believe she was seeing.
There, leaning casually against a wall near the entrance of the Bistro, was a very tall, perhaps over 6'5", darkly dressed student. From afar, she could see his dazzling honey golden eyes that were staring directly at her. His gaze was sharp, unfazed, unmoving, and quite intimidating. He was statuesque. His hair was a mixture of silver and white and happen to glint from the morning sun, shinning through the a window. It was excessively long, cascading along his back and arms like waterfalls crashing into some hapless little pond. His hands were in his jean pockets with a foot propped against the wall. And he was still eying her, as if no one else could see and for some reason, Rin could not turn her eyes away even after hearing her name being called, muffled in the back of her mind.
"Rin... Rin... RIN!" Kagome yelled, shaking her friends left shoulder. "Are you listening?"
"Uh huh." Rin muttered, her attention clearly elsewhere.
"What do you think of them? Japan is kinda closer to the west coast in a way." Miroku added.
Rin blinked her eyes once more before turning back to the group.
"Clearly, 'someone' has eyes for the older brother." Miroku chuckled, causing Inuyasha to snort in disgust.
"I can hear you clearly from over here." Sesshomaru professed, taking his foot off the way before he walked over, gracefully.
"You're regal mate." Sheensa proclaimed, nearly breaking her neck to greet the newcomer. "You say you're from Japan? Which part? What brings you to California? Why do you look so um... like that? Are you both single? And where do you live now? Wha-."
"Sheensa!" Sango screeched. "Please excuse my friend. She is rather intrusive." Sango darted warning eyes toward her friend.
"We are here for a particular reason." Sesshomaru stated matter of factly.
Inuyasha immediately glared as his brother then cleared his throat, "What he means is, we moved here because our father decided to travel to America to be closer to my mother's family, his wife. Her family came here some decades ago from Tokyo and... one of her relatives is, um... sick! He also wishes to expand his business here in California and figured we could assist in some way, right Sesshomaru?" He lied, elbowing his brother in the chest.
"Hn."
"Okay," Kagome responded, rolling her eyes. "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you both." She then stood to shake Inuyasha's hand, but was immediately flushed crimson red when he took her hand and sniffed all over it and before she could pull away, he lightly kissed her knuckles. "Umm..."
He looked confused for a split second, quickly letting her hand go. "Oh,... sorry 'bout that."
The entire group just stared at him, puzzled.
"Oh, well... that was interesting." Miroku quipped, breaking the tension present.
Rin looked over toward the other newcomer, who appeared to be rather annoyed at his friend's forward actions. "I think I'd like to know the name of the guy who's trying to get to third base with my best friend."
Inuyasha bowed, "My apologies. I'm Inuyasha and this is my brother, Sesshomaru."
"Brother?"...'Well that makes sense.' "Oh, well it's nice to meet you both. Hopefully we may see you on campus sometime."
"Yes, and please don't hesitate to ask for help around here. This is our spot but, this campus is rather large. It's easy to get lost." Sango chuckled.
Sesshomaru scoffed.
"Well, we should get going. Classes start in ten minutes and the last thing I need is to be hazed for tardiness by fashion snobs. Even if I'm one of the ones to do the hazing." Sheensa reminded the group before grabbing her bags.
"Let me walk you to class. I don't have practice until ten." Koga offered, locking an arm around Sheensa's.
"You sure your fans won't faint from pure jealousy?" Sheensa chuckled. Koga simply glared at her and proceeded out the door, following by everyone except Sesshomaru and Kagome.
"I did not get your name." Came the voice of the lowest of baritones. Rin gazed up from her packing and stared all over again into those golden eyes, and up close, she could get a better look at him.
'Who even has eyes that color and skin so... pale? And what about this hair? And those eyes,... wow,... beyond captivating! It's like... some kind of magnet drawing you in. This feeling... it's… transcendent. It could crush me. He could crush me. Bones and all. Who is he? What... is he?' Rin thought dreamily.
She heard him clear his throat.
"R-R...RIN. It's Rin." She exhaled deeply, embarrassed and completely unaware that she wasn't even breathing.
"Rin." Sesshomaru repeated lowly so low it was close to a whisper. "See you around then." He said with the slightest smirk she almost missed it. He gracefully walked out the door without looking back.
Rin was still as a stone, staring blankly at that vacant spot.
"That was... INTENSE!" Kagome exclaimed, eying her staggered friend.
"I... I can't explain it, I.."
"No need." Kagome reassured, placing a hand on her shoulder. "I share your sentiment Rin. I don't know who those brothers are and somehow, I don't think this will be the last time we see them."
Rin glanced back at her best friend. "You think so?"
Kagome nodded and finished with her packing before they both headed out the door.
Unbeknownst to Rin and Kagome, there are deep secrets in the dark that they perhaps should never have knowledge of. Especially when it comes to the Inu-brothers.
Next chapter will deal with a bit more as too why the Inu-brothers are really in California. And what the heck is going on with these killings of the innocent? Who's behind this anyway...
Stay tuned :)
With love.
