And once again, the website has an issue and none of us are getting updates on new chapters, new stories, PMs, or reviews of any kind. I swear when this happens it's so annoying, why can't the site admins prevent these things from happening?
Anyway, I got some good news for everyone. The American air date for Gundam Seed: Freedom, both subbed and dubbed is May 7th and May 8th. I know a lot of people prefer the original English dub cast, with Matt Hill, Samuel Vincent, and such, but I think it might be interesting to see what the newer generations of voice actors and actresses can bring to the table when it comes to dubbing.
The Phantom Menace is getting a twenty-fifth anniversary screening in theaters throughout the entire month of May, another something I am looking forward to, considering it's the first Star Wars movie I ever saw, not in theaters, but on VHS. Hope it's the original one, with Yoda being a puppet and all that.
Also, on the Star Wars note, Star Wars: Tales of the Empire is set to release on Star Wars Day, May 4th which will certainly be interesting, especially when it comes to what happened to Barriss after she was arrested during the Clone Wars. Looks like I might have been right when it came to Barriss's future after the fall of the Jedi Order.
The Marauder has been destroyed, but I am positive that in the Bad Batch, Tech is alive and didn't die like we all thought he did, but it's just a theory. For those of you wondering about my Remnant's Bad Batch story, I plan on taking it down and doing a rewrite once the series concludes. I know that Rooster Teeth has been shut down, but that doesn't mean RWBY is dead to the fans.
I saw Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and I loved it. I really need to catch up on those movies.
Alright, let's get to the reviews.
Clynch 3: I'm still trying to work out the whole Robo Knight part, but as for Gosei and Tensou, they will appear. Tensou becoming like his Goseiger counterpart, that does sound like an interesting idea.
Kaijuemperor: Oh, I plan on giving that Derric guy a major beatdown, especially with what you're about to learn about him this chapter.
Ultimate savior infinity: Yeah, the Synchro Summon theme from 5d's is badass indeed, I used to envision the Lightspeed Rangers morphing to that theme when I was younger. Again, I'll admit that I haven't watched a lot of Super Sentai, since it's hard to find websites where one can watch them. But I will admit that I've watched all of Jetman and Dekaranger when someone was posting them on YouTube, and some episodes of other entries, like Gokiager, Gogo V, Gingaman, Megaranger and such.
DCDGojira: Oh, you have no idea how much of a threat Olympius will see Humarise to his plans, glad you liked the chapter.
Aztec 13: That is just one of the Overdrive Lightspeed Megazord combinations I have planned. Told you I would give that idea of yours some thought. You'll find out about Trifire and Koragg.

Chapter 20: Fire on the Mountain: Part 3

Humarise Branch Headquarters

European Time
Gripping his copy of the Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory in his hands, Flect Turn, the leader of Humarise was for possibly the first time in many years surprised. The appearance of the Power Rangers in Angel Lake, as reported by his loyal followers was unexpected, considering that they were mostly focused on Japan protecting both 'pure' and 'diseased' humans despite the fact that they were all quirkless like most of his children.
The plan to begin a society where pure humans rained supreme was going swimmingly with their supporters in the states granting his children access to the extinct volcano for the component they needed to make their ultimate weapon, silencing anyone who got in their way, even posting a video of their torture of the man who could have blown their whole operation, presumably killing them.
However, the man was still alive and if he reported what he found to the authorities, then their plan would suffer more setbacks, along with the setbacks caused by the scientists they forced to work for them by threats towards their families, to ensure their cooperation.
But the moment when word spread that the Power Rangers returned in the age of heroes, he believed that they would be the ideal allies in his quest to eliminate the Quirk threat, but now that they have made their choice and sided with their enemies, they would be destroyed as well. A call on his phone interrupted Flect's thoughts as he placed his book down and answered the phone. "Yes."
"Brother Turn, I have a report." A scrambled voice said over the phone line.
"Speak, my child." Flect ordered and listened.
"We are proceeding as planned. We've almost reached our quota of the crude oil needed for the weapon. I have also received word that the man who was spying on us has been moved from the clinic into the police department, by orders of the sheriff. That 'man' is under constant guard and not even the mayor's bodyguards are able to get to him. Silencing him will be more difficult than we thought." The voice reported.
"And what of the new Mayor? Has he enacted his policies?" Flect asked, turning his chair around and faced the walled. "It took no small effort on our part to erase the evidence that implicated him in the coup all those years ago, provide him with the funds for his venture with the insurance payout and we did frame Mayor Rachel Phillips for those crimes, arresting her in the process, thanks to our associate in the courts. Who know that a class biased judge would support our cause?" he mused.
"There's something else. We're picking up massive seismic readings and some of our followers are reporting an increase in heat near the pipes. We've had a few minor quakes in the last few days, but nothing to warrant any concern. But if the rangers investigate…" the voice continued.
"You have nothing to worry about." Flect assured, turning back to his desk. "We've taken all the necessary steps to ensure that the operation will not be discovered. If you feel the need to evacuate, leave no trace of our activities. The plan is still in its infancy, and we need the time to complete the project."
"As you wish." The voice replied and ended the call.
Flect then opened another drawer in his desk and pulled out a picture, a picture of Connor and his parents, the latter of whom were crossed out in red ink. "So, does this mean the boy is alive?" he asked himself.

Mine Entrance
American time
Three days had passed since the battle with Trifire and since that day, no demonic activity was reported by David, Mondo, or Jessica, with minimal volcanic and seismic activity, despite the repairs and replacements of the damaged seismometers and telemetry stations. But that wasn't the worst of the problems.
Per Derric's new laws, citizens who possessed quirks were removed from their homes and forced to leave town, without so much as any of their personal items. Tourists who possessed quirks were turned away from the motels, the lodge or were forced to turn their cars around, after planning their vacation for months, leaving them disappointed.
Even the trains coming from Fairview were safe as passengers who possessed quirks were thrown off the trains, with their luggage or completely banned from boarding the train. At the head of this were Derric's bodyguards who ignored the pleas of the people they were removing from the town and trains by this ridiculous and unjust action.
At the head of the opposition to this act, was Buck who refused to carry out such an order, claiming that driving people out of their homes was no job for a police officer, he didn't even back down when Derric threatened to remove his wife and new born daughter from their home, claiming that he could have them meet with an unfortunate accident, but Buck stood strong in his resolve not to back down.
"That man is breaking the laws of the constitution. He can't force people to leave their homes and seize them for whatever ventures he's got planning." Buck confided to Beth, his wife who held their baby girl in her arms, who cooed while in her mothers' arms in their home five miles down the mountain.
"Buck, you're overreacting." Beth assured her husband. "I'll admit, Rachel getting arrested for those crimes, the closure of the western slopes, Weston being appointed as Mayor of the town by a court order from a Judge and now all these sudden forced evictions. No one has the power to enforce such actions, even it is by the mayor, but you need to relax."
"I can't relax, Beth." Buck said. "First we got four people dead, Rachel arrested and replaced by a guy whose dead set on his belief about the Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory, who's also prevented Peter, Glynda and the others from investigating the western slopes of the mountain, claimed that someone with a quirk was playing a prank, and we've got monsters sighted on the mountain." He listed. "If Courtney has a quirk, who's to say he force us from our home because of our daughter."
"That won't happen." Beth assured. "You gave Sir Nighteye full access to the police database and he's looking for anything that might give us a clearer picture about Weston. I don't trust him either, but I'm more concerned about that Benson guy."
"What about Frank?" Buck asked.
"I've heard rumors through the grapevine that he and his son have been spotted near the old mountain patrol station, were hiking up some trails close to the western slopes, even going down those trails and coming back several hours later." Beth answered. "He's supposed to be a photojournalist, but he hasn't been taking photos of the slopes, like he's looking for something else and the fact that he's bringing his son with him, that's a bit concerning."
"Maybe the guys just trying to find a juicy story that he can't find on the slopes." Buck said, walking towards his wife and picking up his daughter. "If he's got his kid with him, then he'll know to be careful and not put his kid in any danger."
"Buck, I've known you for too long to take that attitude, now what's got you really worried?" Beth asked, not buying her husband's attitude.
"I wish I knew baby; I wish I knew." Buck answered.
Several minutes later, Buck stood outside the entrance to the old mine, where the rangers, Robo Knight, Mirio, Nejire, Izuku, Tamaki, Ryukyu and Fatgum were waiting. "You guys sure that Grant said he saw someone enter the mines? Nobodies been in the mine for years since the mine closed, save for the fools who think there's an untouched vein of gold." He said with skepticism.
"Yeah, but Grant seemed very serious when he mentioned it." Mirio answered, already in his hero costume, which allowed him to use his quirk without the fear of losing his clothes. "Besides, Sir said he was still compiling some data, so he'll be pretty busy for the next few hours."
"Well, let's open this mine up and see what we can find." Fatgum chimed in. "The longer we wait, the longer we lose what we're looking for."
"Allow me to open the entrance." Robo Knight offered, grabbing a piece of the door and pried it open with little effort. "You may proceed into the mine." He declared, allowing Buck and his deputies to enter the mine, while the others stayed behind, keeping an eye out for any of Weston's goons that might be spying on them.
They returned sooner than expected, carrying several crates from out of the mine. "Looks like the kid was right, someone was in the mine and were hiding these in one of the old tunnels." Buck said, placing a crate down on the ground, which he then opened with a quick pry of a crowbar and revealed the contents.
The contents of the first crate were automatic weapons, military grade firepower while the second crate contained drilling equipment. The third crate contained a large amount of mining explosives while the final crate contained electrical components, circuit boards, geophones and other equipment used for studying volcanos and measuring earthquakes. "Ok, this was not what I was expecting." Izuku murmured.
"We got machine guns, mining equipment, drilling equipment, and stuff needed to measure earthquakes and study volcanos. It just doesn't add up." Melissa said, placing a hand on her chin.
"Maybe somebody is starting to take up a collection?" Nejire guessed.
"Maybe." Anthony said, walking over the wall and then stood on his head.
"Uh, what is he doing?" Ryukyu asked.
"It's his thinking pose." Connor answered. "It helps him think and I've seen it work a few times. Though I think he picked it up from the green SPD ranger."
"Having all that blood flow to one's head, doesn't sound like something I'd want to experience." Lena said with a drop of sweet down the back of her head.
"I got it!" Anthony said, falling back to his feet. "The machine guns and explosives are part of a trade. Someone was planning on trading these weapons for something and that something was the equipment we found."
"I don't follow." Buck said, confused.
"I do." TJ said, glancing over to the equipment. "See these circuit boards, they're brand new and used in seismometers, which measure the earth when it makes a burp, or something makes the ground shake. Mining and underground blasting can be detected by those machines and if someone discovered the shifts, then it would expose whatever they were doing. In other words, someone swapped out the components from the seismometers with damaged or defective parts and hid the new ones in the mine, in exchange for the guns and explosives."
"But who would want to hinder the efforts of the USGS when it comes to measuring earthquakes and volcanos?" Tamaki asked, dejectedly.
"Someone who doesn't want anyone to find out about what they're up too." Lena said grimly, looking at the machine guns. "These machine guns are brand new, probably meant for the National Guard and Silver Guardians, that means someone's got a lot of money and power to cover up the smuggling of a few crates of military weapons and these, these are dangerous ones."
"Yeah, these are general purpose machine guns, 7.62's and 5.56s." Connor added. "But I don't think Olympius would give his monsters machine guns, considering the powers that they have. So, who would want this kind of firepower?"
"Well, whoever wants it won't be getting it." Buck said, closing up the crate of machine guns. "I'll contact Major Tillman of the National Guard, see if his men are missing some weapons and if they are, we'll know where these were supposed to go."
"Good, the last thing we need is that kind of firepower ending up in the hands of regular people, or worse." Ryukyu said with relief.
Meanwhile, on the western slope of the mountain, from the forest with his camera out and focused on the drilling station, Frank and his son Lan were photographing the arrival and departure time of the Humarise trucks while pondering what the religious group would be doing with an old drilling station in the side of an extinct volcano. "That's the fifth truck we've seen leaving this place, dad. What do you think it means?" Lan asked with a whisper.
"I don't know kid, but I got feeling they aren't drilling for oil and sell it to countries that don't have Trizyrium crystals powering their cities." Frank answered, taking another couple of photos before he ducked down behind a rock the moment a member of Humarise spotted them. "I think we better go and leave before we get caught." Both the father and son quickly left the area, but their hasty exit was noticed by Koragg, but he was more focused on his own findings.
Though he was unfamiliar with technology, unlike most of his allies, he could read a computer screen and it was clear to him that Humarise was after the oil deposit underneath the volcano that was the site of Olympius's plan to resurrect a powerful warrior that was one of five in a dangerous group who's powers rivaled that of the barbarian beasts, the same beasts that Imperious summoned to assist in the capture of the Mystic Force rangers ally, the genie Jenji.
"Those fools have no idea what they've done. All they've done is allow Olympius to carry out his plan, which will destroy this town and all those who live in it." Koragg said to the young wolf who nuzzled up to the wolf knight after he returned from the Humarise occupied facility. "They may not care about the lives of the innocent living in the town, but my honor will not allow it. So, it appears that the rangers and I share a common goal, for the moment."
Placing his sword and shield down on the ground, Koragg concentrated his magic into a single point and sent a telepathic message to the rangers. "I will not meet them in person, but you, my young friend will give them this. It will explain the situation to them, and they will act in a manner that they see fit." He said to the wolf, tying a piece of leather around the wolf's neck like a collar, then attaching a data disc to it. "Go and deliver this to the rangers." He instructed his new companion who dashed in the direction of the town. "Now, let's see what else this group has planned."
As Koragg used his magic and used his disguise once more, down in Fairview, in the office of one of the motels, Sir Nighteye was looking over the information they already had on Weston. Given the mans history, hatred of quirks and his involvement in the attempted coup in 2214, he should have been given a life sentence for his crimes, yet surprisingly all the witnesses who testified against him all vanished and were found dead in shallow graves, far away from the prying eyes of the public.
A year later, he was released from prison when the charges against him were dropped, the evidence having been stated as 'false and incriminating fabrications against an upstanding citizen.' As said by Judge Taft, who oversaw the trial and dismissed all charges, mostly due to the judge's class-biased beliefs. This in turn allowed Weston to build his volcanic island resort years later, which he then sold when the Ting-Hao volcano erupted, destroying the resort, and killing everyone he invited to the grand opening, while he collected a massive insurance payout that numbered in the billions.
To Nighteye, it was clear that Weston was hiding something and planning something. Given his hatred of quirks and strong belief in the unproven theory, it was logical to conclude that Derric was in league with Humarise, but he still lacked the evidence to prove such a claim and implicate him.
Then there was the connection between Weston and the Red Ranger. Though he didn't tell the Red Ranger, Derric had a connection between Connor's parents and their deaths, but Nighteye knew it wasn't the right time to tell the leader of the Lightspeed Rangers the truth, for it would cloud his judgement and blind him to his duty of protecting the world and the people who live in it. "He will find out, it is inevitable." Nighteye said to himself as he continued to scroll through the information he had, but stopped when he caught sight of something that piqued his curiosity.
As the day continued, the Lightspeed Rangers had traversed up the mountain to the location they were given by Koragg who telepathically told Connor and his friends to meet him. The meeting point was the old mountain patrol station, twenty-five kilometers from the summit, where Peter, Jerry, Terry, and Brianna were replacing the damaged seismometers with the new ones. "This isn't like Koragg not to show up." Lena pointed out.
"This Koragg, if he's as dangerous as you say he is, then wouldn't that mean the dude is a total badass who could wipe you all out in a second?" Jerry asked, having finished lowering the new seismometer into the ground.
"Koragg is a lot of things, but he would destroy us unless we can fight back. His honor keeps him from fighting against unarmed opponents, for a victory like that would be considered dishonorable." TJ answered. "That and he also prefers to fight opponents at their best and won't fight those that are unarmed." He added.
"Still, you think he would be here, waiting for us." Anthony pointed out.
"Wait! Do you hear that?" Connor asked, getting the others to cease any conversations, and listened as something was rushing towards them from the woods. That something, was Koragg's wolf companion. "A wolf?"
"Hey, it's got something around it's neck." Terry pointed out, pointing at the makeshift collar and the data disc that was attached to it.
The wolf growled at the rangers and the others as it moved closer to them, allowing Melissa to grab the data disk, then darted away back into the woods. "You think that was Koragg?" she asked.
"Can he turn himself into a wolf?" Brianna asked, having almost drawn her pistol.
"No, not that I'm aware of." Connor mused, then looked back to Melissa and the disk in her hands. "Any idea what's on that disc?"
"Not sure, I won't know until we analyze it's contents." His sister answered. "But…" she started before once again the area was hit by a massive earthquake. Branches from the tree's fell to the ground, forcing Brianna, Peter, and Jerry to run in an effort to avoid them, but Terry wasn't so lucky and found himself pinned by a tree branch. "This is getting ridiculous!" she groaned, moving to help Terry, but stopped the moment they heard something, but this sounded more robotic. To their surprise, it was a robot but not a Cog, Cyclobot or even a Grinder, but a robot with blue head, two heavy breastplates and had blue arm mounted blade with a dish on their left hand. "Is that?"
"Give me the data disc." The robot demanded.
"What do you want the disc for?" Terry demanded, groaning in pain from the weight of the branches on his leg.
"That's none of your business!" the robot snapped, throwing a silver sphere into the air and from it, came multiple white haired, black bodied robots with seven black holes, two on their back and five on their head with arm mounted blades on their left hands, waving their arms like typical robots as they surrounded the rangers and the scientists. "Say hello to my Krybots. Now, give me the disc!" the blue-headed robot demanded.
"I've got a better offer!" came Lan's voice as he leapt over the Krybots, but strangely dressed. His hair was covered by a blue helmet with two ridges running along the top, that made his hair stick out in four spikes that stopped at the base, two yellow shoulder guards while is clothing was covered by a dark indigo suit with cyan stripes that ended at his blue boots, tipped with black soles. His hands were covered by blue gloves and a blue backpack like object was on his back while a red circle with a black line running the center that ended in two triangles and surrounded by a gold ring adorned his chest and sides of his helmet. "You take your droids and get the hell out of here before we make you!" Lan demanded, his face covered by a face guard which covered his mouth and nose.
"Lan!?" The rangers exclaimed in shock.
"That's me!" Lan responded with a grin. "So, what do you guys think of my quirk? Pretty neat, don't you think?"
"How about we talk about quirks later and focus on these tin cans." TJ suggested, hands up in a fighting stance.
"Attack!" The blue headed Krybot shouted, sending the other Krybots into battle while Peter, Brianna and Jerry focused on freeing Terry from the branch that trapped his legs.
Several Krybots swung their swords at Melissa, but she ducked backwards and kicked away one of the robots, catching its sword and gripped it in a reverse-grip style. Raising her new weapon, she blocked the blade of another Krybot, which she then kicked out from under its legs and caught its sword, also holding it in a reverse grip style. With swords in both hands now, the daughter of David Shields parried attack after attack, while cutting down each of her attackers.
Lena grabbed the arm of one Krybot, spun it around and kicked it back towards its allies, knocking several of them down. A blast from the arm blades of the Krybots forced her to roll out of the way as the blast slammed into the tree behind her, cutting it in two. "Ok, they aren't using guns, but that's still dangerous! Somebody could get hurt!" she groaned, rolling around again as the Krybot continued to shoot at her, but ended up hitting its allies. "What a terrible shot, must be its programming." She quipped.
TJ and Anthony stood back-to-back, surrounded by six Krybots who swung their blades at the two rangers, but were blasted back by the rangers' blasters, turning the robots into scrap metal. "I thought Krybots were the foot soldiers of the Troobian Empire and were all destroyed! How are they still around?" Anthony asked, firing more shots from his blaster.
"Maybe some of them might have survived, kept hidden by those who bought them and passed onto other criminals." TJ guessed, firing his blaster again and knocked a Krybot to the ground as it ran towards them.
Connor on the other hand, was facing the blue headed Krybot and found it to be a tough opponent, as he was tossed into a tree, knocking the wind out of him before he was stabbed in the shoulder by the Kyrbots blade, causing him to cry out in pain. "You rangers aren't so tough!" the Krybot exclaimed, readying his blade for the final strike, only for it to be blocked by a glowing energy sword, courtesy of Lan whose left arm had changed into a sort of emitter with said blade emerging from the hilt. "Why do you interfere?"
"You're attacking my friends, that makes you, my enemy!" Lan answered, then kicked the Krybot in the chest with his left leg, knocking it back before he charged towards the robotic soldier, his blade held high which he brought down on the Krybot, only for the robot to block the attack with its own blade. "You're just a bunch of Clanker rejects destined for the scrapheap. I've seen villains with better quirks then you piece of junk." He taunted.
"Quirks are nothing compared to us! We are superior to any impure human and those that support them." the Krybot exclaimed, aiming his blade and fired an energy blast at Lan, who seemingly vanished, only to appear directly behind the blue-head and swung his energy blade at the machine, slashing it across the chest multiple times, before leaping into the air, somersaulted over the robot, turned around and then slashed at the machines back, causing it to short circuit before it fell forward and exploded.
"Guess that means you're not as superior as you think." Lan quipped, then turned to the other Krybots as his right arm shifted into a cannon, while his left arm returned to normal which he then used to brace his cannon as the Krybots charged towards him. "Take this!" he shouted and fired a series of energy blasts at the robots, which slammed into the chests of the machines, destroying them. "Mess with my friends and you'll regret it." he said, the battle mask on his face retracting and his arm returning to normal as he rushed to Connor. "You ok, man?"
"Y-yeah. I'm alright." Connor said with a groan. "The metal head got me, but not too bad. I am bleeding a bit, but I'm alright."
The helicopter that the pilot had purchased soon landed and picked up everyone before it headed back down the mountain where an ambulance was waiting to take Terry and Connor to the clinic for treatment. "Peter, what happened up there?" Glynda asked the moment Peter was out of the helicopter.
"Look, Doctor Osborn, I don't want to talk out of turn, but something is really messed up here. We were attacked by Krybots and they wanted a disc that someone gave the rangers." Peter explained. "Those quakes up there weren't tectonic, they were magmatic. This thing is going to blow, and we need to put the town on alert, now!"
"Listen, Peter. I believe you, but we've got another problem. Our continued stay has gotten Weston annoyed, he's called the governor and he's demanding that we leave this town immediately. He's been 'convinced' that the mountain won't erupt and that this is all the work of some prankster. Another forty-eight hours will tell, then we'll monitor everything from base." Glynda answered, then walked away while Brianna walked up to her boyfriend.
"We know the monitor were sabotaged with faulty parts and some of them were even destroyed." She assured her boyfriend. "Someone is going through a lot of trouble to make it look like the mountain isn't going to erupt, despite everything we've seen."
"Yeah, I know." Peter agreed, glancing back towards the mountain.
Skull Cavern
From the home of the demons, Olympius couldn't help but smirk at the situation down on Earth. The foolish humans were fighting amongst themselves over the situation that they had created and by the time they would come to an agreement, it would be too late.
"If there is one thing a monster can like about the humans, is that when they fight amongst themselves, they make our job a lot easier." He mused, then turned to Jinxer. "Jinxer, is everything ready for the final phase of the plan?"
"Of course, my prince." Jinxer replied with a bow. "Fireor's remains have been transported to the mountain and are ready to be reanimated at your command. Ghouligan is also ready to play his part. His training has come along well, but forgive me for asking my prince, but are you sure it's wise to sacrifice such a loyal warrior for this plan?"
"You misunderstand, Jinxer. Ghouligan knows full well the outcome of this plan and has gladly excepted his fate, knowing that it will bring about a group of warriors so strong that the rangers will not be able to stand against the new and improved versions of them." Olympius assured his loyal follower, then turned to Ivan who had entered the throne room with Venjix. "What is the status of locating a world with abundant astral energy?"
"Well, the Grand Cross has shown us a lot of worlds, but we're still trying to find one with this astral energy you're looking for." Ivan answered bluntly. "Let me tell you, I heard about this energy before Zordon sealed my in that Hyperlock chamber and I'll admit, I was planning on using it to conquer the world, but Zordon sealed me away before that could happen."
"We have also found worlds with other energy sources and powers we could use to enhance our monsters." Venjix reported. "We are prepared to send scouts into those worlds to determine if there are possible allies or threats that could become a problem."
"Continue scouting these worlds and report back on your findings. Have your Cogs set up outposts but keep them hidden. We don't want to alert these worlds to our presence." Olympius ordered. Venjix bowed and left the throne room, but Ivan stayed behind. "Something on your mind, Ivan?"
"I'm just trying to figure out Koragg. We haven't seen him in days and I'm starting to wonder if he's as loyal as you claim he is. Honor can make even the evilest of villains seem like softies that could potentially turn against us." Ivan admitted.
"Koragg's loyalty has never been in question, but his honor may become a problem." Olympius admitted. "It is his honor that is questionable. His honor prevents him from finishing the rangers off, retreating from battles that he could win in hopes that the rangers will become stronger, so he may truly achieve victory against worthy opponents."
"Honor is a waste of time!" Darkonda said as he, Furio, Ecliptor and Deviot entered the throne room from the shadows. "The best way to finish off an enemy is to hit them while they are down and not give them a chance to get back up. After all, why let the enemy get their second wind?"
"What have you to report?" Olympius inquired.
"It is as you suspected, Prince Olympius." Furio began. "There is indeed a group of humans that has unintentionally helped us. They call themselves Humarise and they wish to wipe out all those with quirks from existence. They have a strong belief in the Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory, which has not been proven and are drilling for oil underneath the volcano. As to their purpose, we're not entirely certain about, but they are after something, and it isn't the oil."
"Humarise could present a problem. If they do wipe out every single human with a quirk, then it will make our task much more difficult." Olympius said, then turned to Ivan. "Perhaps sending a few Ooze Man to infiltrate their ranks will allow us to keep an eye on them."
"An excellent idea, my boy!" Ivan said aloud. "In fact, I've already got a few of my boys in their ranks now. I figured in a society where super powered humans exist, there'd be a group of people who despise them and could pose a threat, so I sent some of them ahead of time."
"And you didn't tell us this until now because?" Ecliptor asked, pointing his sword at Ivan, who moved the sword away with the tips of his fingers.
"Well, you never asked!" Ivan answered with a laugh.

Though his wound wasn't as severe as he thought, Connor's shoulder was wrapped in medical bandages while his friends and sister stood by his bed. "Krybots, it had to be Krybots. Don't tell me that Broodwing escaped from SPD custody and managed to steal the remaining spheres that those machines are kept in." Connor groaned.
"I don't think that's possible. Aren't those containment cards that SPD used escape proof?" Izuku asked with a hand to his chin. "I mean, unless they are released, which is highly unlikely and given the personalities of those criminals, releasing them would seem counterproductive and only cause more problems for the entire galaxy and not just earth. It would also mean more work for heroes like All Might, Nighteye, Ryukyu and others…"
"You're muttering again." Connor said with a sweet drop.
"Gah! Not again." Izuku exclaimed, covering his mouth with both his hands which made Connor laugh. "Well, at least you still have your sense of humor."
"And you've still got that fanboy attitude I like, brother." Connor teased. He then turned to Lan who had just entered the room. "Well, look who it is. It's the guy that scrapped those machines like he was Wrecker of Clone Force 99. I gotta tell you kid, that was a pretty neat quirk of yours."
"Aw, thanks." Lan said with a blush and rubbed the back of his head. "Truth is my quirk has always been pretty versatile and powerful."
"What kind of quirk to do you have?" Izuku asked, notebook in hand already which made the other rangers laugh at his fanboy personality.
"Well, I call my quirk 'Forge'." Lan began, holding out his hand which shifted into a Vulcan Gun. "It allows me to change my arms into any weapon I can think of. Bladed weapons, ranged weapons, melee weapons, you name it. The only problem is I don't have any control of what the type of weapon my arms take the form of. Sometimes it's useful, sometimes it's the wrong one, which is where the suit I wore comes in. The helmet contains a small computer that helps me generate the exact weapon I need for battle, by analyzing the scenario, while the suit also amplifies my strength and adds an elemental effect depending on the weapon." He continued, his arm shifting back to normal.
"That's so cool!" Izuku exclaimed, having written various notes in a matter of seconds while Lan was talking. "Oh, but where did you get the suit from?"
"My dad's got a few scientist friends who were able to construct the suit for me back when I was six. It's self-adjusting so I don't need to worry about replacing it as I grow." Lan answered proudly. "Not to brag or anything, but my quirk is pretty amazing, but it's nothing compared to the quirks of your friends from UA and heroes like All Might, Stars and Stripes and others."
"You sound like a humble person." TJ said.
"Yeah, well I don't try to show off my quirk to everyone I meet, I only use it when I need to." Lan answered, rubbing his nose, before his tone turned back to a serious one. "So, what are we going to do about the mountain? I overheard the doctors talking about it with the mayor and from what I heard, that guy wants all of them to leave the town, claiming they are causing a panic and turning visitors away. But that quake up top, that's enough to make some panic and start shouting it's the end of the world as we know it and all that."
"What about the disc we got from Koragg?" Lena asked. "This might sound crazy, but I think he was trying to help us, maybe he knows something that we don't and that something has to do with whatever Olympius, Ivan, Ecliptor and the others are planning."
"You might be right about that, Lena." Melissa said in agreement. "My nineth-grade science teacher once told me that if you put a frog in hot water, he'll leap out. But if you put it in cold water and gradually heat it up, it will slowly boil to teeth."
"Is that a recipe for frog soup?" Anthony asked.
"No, a recipe for disaster." Melissa answered grimly. "If we got here today, we'd know we were in hot water already." She then pulled out the disc. "Those Krybots wanted this disk so badly, that means there's something on it that they don't want us to know about, something important about the current situation."
"Send it to your father and doctor Tatsumi. They should be able to make sense of it better than the rest of us." TJ said, then turned to Connor. "Oh, that reminds me, the doc said he sent something for you and that's waiting for you in Fairview."
"A surprise for me? That's the first I've heard of it, then again if it's a surprise then I shouldn't have heard about it until now." Connor chuckled, but winced slightly the moment he felt a bit of pain in his shoulder. "Guess I'll pick it up in the morning."
"Oh, that's right, I almost forgot!" Izuku exclaimed and handed Connor his VR headset. "I picked this up from your room at the lodge. That game you bought has already been loaded into the headset and it should give you something to do while your shoulder is healing."
"Thanks, Izuku. I appreciate that." Connor answered with a smile and, despite the pain in his shoulder, placed the headset on his head laid back on the clinic bed and said the words, "Power Up!" and played his game.
At the same time, back in the conference room of Clusters Motel, Peter and his colleagues were gob smacked. Despite replacing and repairing the seismometers and telemetry stations, no gas emissions or earthquakes of any magnitude were recorded, as if something was interfering with the equipment and feeding them false data. "Well, it looks like you eggheads have been tricked by this prank after all." Weston said the moment he and his assistant entered the Motel. "And since it's a prank, that means there is nothing to worry about. So, take it as a sign, pack up and go bother another town with an actual emergency." He went on, almost like he was happy with the status of their investigation. His attitude and demeanor were clearly getting on the nerves of the USGS team, who had a gut feeling that someone was hiding something and wanted them gone from the town because of that.

Looking at the data his daughter had sent to him, David had a worried look on his face. Based on the data, it appeared that Humarise was using the old Holter drilling station on the mountain in a drilling operation, looking for certain mineral deposits as well as oil. Knowing the head of Holter Energy personally and his stance on illegal drilling, he called the CEO, Ray Miller, a dark-skinned man with black hair and green eyes, who was wearing a brown business suit. "Ray, it's been a while since we last spoke." He said to the man appearing on his computer screen.
"And I've heard you've been busy assisting your son and daughter and their fellow rangers." Ray said with a smile. "I always knew that boy was destined to be a hero, despite being quirkless and by god I was right. But I don't think you called me to give a status update about your son and daughter."
"I'm afraid not." David answered, taking a deep breath before he asked his friend the question. "Did you authorize an oil drilling operation on the western slopes of the Angel Lake volcano?"
"What are you talking about?" Ray asked in genuine surprise. "Holter Energy focuses on scientific research in Trizyrium Crystals and how they can generate greater power. We're trying to provide for the countries across the planet that are experiencing an energy crisis on scales that no one has ever seen before. Why would we be drilling for oil when we have a clean energy source?"
"Humarise is drilling for oil underneath the Angel Lake volcano and the entire west slope has been shut down to the public." David answered.
"Humarise?" Ray asked. "David, you, and I both know I would never work with those religious fools who believe in an unproven theory. They want to wipe out every human being with a quirk, on a genocidal scale, which is something I would never condone. If Humarise is using one of my old facilities to drill for oil or whatever it, is they are looking for, then I never authorized it. Seems to me that Humarise is either using the facility on its own, or someone in the company is working with them." the man then paused and took a deep breath. "I'll look into this on my end, but I think you should know something. I've the engineering division working on something for the Lightspeed Rangers that I think will come in handy for future battles. It's a new megazord and it's perfect for them."
"Tell me everything about it." David said.
At the same time, in the Rescue Lab, Mondo, Jessica and Mint were working harder to finish the preparations on one of the new and improved Lightspeed Megazords. With Olympius giving his monsters quirks, they needed to make sure the megazords of the rangers were ready for the upcoming battles. "You know, I always thought I would be the one destroying the rangers back in the old days." Loki said as he watched Jesssica type away on a computer. "But now that I think about it, if I had known that the queen was only using us for her own gain, I'd probably would have defected and assisted the rangers in destroying her."
"Shouldn't be you looking for a human disguise to give yourself when you go out in public?" Jessica asked, rubbing her eyes. "Diabolico already has one and considering that people would see you as villains given your appearance, it might be wise to find one sooner than later."
"Listen, I'm workin on it and just haven't found the right traits to make myself look human." Loki answered. "Besides, I'm also thinking about those dreams that Connor had. I mean, from the way he tells it, the Grand Cross might be opening up portals to other dimensions and who knows what kind of alliances that idiot Olympius could make."
"I'm more worried about what the queen will do." Jessica admitted. "If Bansheera returns, which I believe we all think is a bad thing, she might try something even worse than whatever Olympius has planned. I'll admit, bringing back all those fallen monsters and top tier guys was a genius move on Olympius's part, but his loyalty to his mother blinds him to the fact that she never cared for him."
"That is something we must take into consideration." Mondo agreed as he entered the lab. "If the Queen returns to the world of the living, then it will no doubt result in more powerful monsters and deadlier schemes."
"Then it's a good thing we got the Lightspeed Cycles restored and powered up again. I know Connor's been asking about them ever since he decided to take Nezu's offer, but I believe it's mostly because of his how his father took his mother out on a date." Jessica said with a chuckle. "Honestly, I don't think I could consider the idea of a Power Ranger being a biker. It's funny."
February 23rd
Fairview California
9:30 am
Wearing a white long-sleeved t-shirt under an orange hoodie with the sleeves cut short, blue jeans and brown combat styled boots, Connor's eyes were wide with excitement as his father's old custom-built motorcycle stood before him. It was modified, Harley-Davidson 2024 'Drifter' bike with a stronger frame, custom fuel tank, expanded fuel tank, saddle bags used for storing various items, modified engine, and heavy-duty tires for even the toughest of terrains. A bike that his father and his father's father worked on when he was his age.
The red and black paintjob almost made Connor think his father was part of biker gang, but his father made it clear that he had a thing for motorcycles, which was one of the things that his mother liked about him. "Always wanted to take a ride on this one day, now I got the chance." He said to himself, swinging his legs over the leather seat, grasped the handles and started the engine. "Oh yeah, she's purring like a kitten."
"I did a little tune up on the engine. Some of the parts looked like they were about to rust, so I swapped them out and replaced them with new ones. I have to say, it's a real treat doing a tune up on a custom-built bike, and with it being based on a Harley Davidson, made it much easier." The mechanic said, with the name tag 'Deacon' on his overalls and a rag in hand.
"You earned your pay, that's for sure." Connor said with a smile, pulling his wallet out from his pocket and handed the mechanic two hundred dollars in American currency. "Keep the change."
"Thanks kid. Oh yeah, one more thing. Those earthquakes we've been getting lately, you been feeling them up at Angel Lake?" the mechanic asked.
"Yeah, we've been feeling them." Connor answered. "Speaking of which, I better head back up to the town and check on my friends. Considering the earthquakes, I've got a bad feeling about this."
"Might be a good idea for me to close up shop and get out of town before things go to hell in a hand basket." The mechanic murmured, as Connor drove his motorcycle out of the shop and up the road to the mountain town.
A light snow had started to come down by the time Connor came to the section of the road that ran parallel to the railroad line, where a train had already come out of the tunnel, with steam billowing into the air as it chugged along the tracks. Some children, both with and without quirks saw him and waved to him from the train cars, which Connor returned with a wave of his own. Just then, his phone started to ring, and he pulled himself off to the side of the road, reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, seeing the caller id was Izuku. "What's up, Izuku?" he asked.
"My dad's finally woken up! Chief Adam's wants us at the station immediately!" Izuku practically shouted over the phone into Connor's ear.
"Do you have to yell?" Connor winced. "I'll be up as quick as I can. It's starting to snow you know."
"Sorry." He heard Izuku mutter from the other side of the phone, before he hung up, placed his phone back into his pocket and continued on his way up the mountain, catching up with the train before the railroad and road split off.
Reaching the sheriff's office just before eleven, Connor parked his bike in the parking lot, and casually entered the office, making his way to the medical ward where Izuku' father, Hisashi Midoriya had finally awoken. He was practically the spitting image of Izuku, with the same fluffy dark green hair, round face, and green eyes, only older. "Well son, it looks like you weren't kidding when you said that your best friend is the red ranger." Hisashi said with a chuckle, noticing the morpher on Connor's wrist. "Been a while, hasn't it?"
"It's been a long time, Mr. Midoriya." Connor answered. "But we can play catch up later."
"Mr. Midoriya. We were hoping you could shed some light on the people who attacked you." Buck said, pulling up a chair by Hisashi's bed. "Can you remember anything about your attackers? What they looked like? What they wore? Were they male? Female? Old? Young? Human or monster?"
"I can damn well tell you that the ones who attacked me were human, but they wore the same type of suit that bodyguards would be wearing in public." Hisashi answered. "Where's that oil sample I gathered?"
"I sent it down to the EPA labs in LA for testing. Why?" Buck asked.
"Because someone's drilling for oil on the western slopes of the mountains. I was just minding my own business, taking in the mountain air, and enjoying the time away from the hustle and bustle of the city, when I found that vial of oil on the ground." Hisashi answered. "I knew something was wrong and knowing that there was an old drilling station, I went to check it out and to my surprise, I found station active and who's guarding it like a treasury? Humarise! That's who. The moment I took a picture with my phone and tried to leave, some of those goons snuck up behind me, knocked me out and then the next thing I know, I find myself in some kind of room and ended up getting tortured, all because I have a quirk."
"So, Humarise attacked you? Why did they attack you?" Melissa asked.
"Wish I could tell you why. But if it's because I saw them drilling for oil in an area where it's against the law, then they obviously looking for something." Hisashi answered honestly.
"We'll need you to keep you here for a few more days until we can determine that Humarise won't try to eliminate you." Buck told the older Midoriya. "It's for your safety, but I promise that my guys won't let anyone in without proper authorization. Mrs. Midoriya. I'll need you to fill out some paperwork so I can discharge your husband from the clinic once Dr. Quinn determines he's safe to move."
Hisashi smiled, as did his wife while the teens left the office. "So, Humarise attacked your dad, and for some reason they are drilling for oil. What would they need oil for?" Lena asked.
"Your guess is as good as mine. Something about this just smells wrong." Anthony answered. "But didn't Weston order the western slopes closed? Did he know about them drilling on that side of the mountain?"
"If he did, then he's as evil as we thought." TJ surmised. "Maybe he's…"
"Let's put that idea on hold for later." Connor interrupted. "We still don't have all the details about Olympius's plan or what Humarise is up to. Right now, we just keep looking around for any leads."
"Roger." The other rangers said and went off in different directions.
By late evening, the snow fall had died down, leaving several inches of fresh powder on the ground, but the rangers and their allies had found no leads about what the demons or Humarise was planning, not even Connor and Nejire, who drove as close to the main road to the western slopes as they could, only to be turned away by Weston's bodyguards. "Any luck?" Ryukyu asked as she, Peter and Brianna greeted the two teens at Rachel's home, a coffee shop with a second story that housed the bedrooms of the mayor, her kids, and a guest room.
"Not a thing. The entrance to the western slopes is guarded tighter than a nuns…. Well it's locked down tight. He really doesn't want anyone getting on those slopes and if that doesn't show that he's in league with Humarise, then I don't know what does." Connor answered. "Let's hope the League of Villains isn't involved with this, or worse, the Volcano Thieves." He groaned.
"Maguma Iwata, Konako Haizono, and Tsumuji Kazetani. Better known by their villain names, Volcano, Dusty Ash, and Gust Boy. Last I heard, they've gone underground after that bank heist they pulled two years ago out in the Kanto region. Heard the boss sent a literal river of lava through the town, almost destroyed the entire town before a couple of heroes stopped the lava, although the thieves did get away with the money. I tell you, I would not want to be walking on that stuff or even over it like I'm on a balance beam." Peter said with a sigh of relief.
"While I can't discuss any ongoing investigations, it's rumored that the Volcano Thieves have left Japan." Ryukyu admitted. "I've got a personal score to settle with them, seeing as I had no choice but to let them go to save some bystanders from the lava in one of their previous robberies."
"You'll get them one day Ryukyu, I know you will!" Nejire said with a beaming smile.
"Your intern is right." Brianna added. "You'll get them. But maybe we should take this somewhere else, I don't think we want to wake the kids."
"Yeah, but all this talk about volcano's and fire is making me thirsty." Brianna said, grabbing a glass from the cabinet and walked towards the sink, turning the handle and filled the glass with water. However, the water was brown and dirty, rather than clean and drinkable. "Ugh, does Rachel have a broken pipe or something? This water smells." She said in disgust.
"Let me see that." Peter said, taking the glass from his girlfriends' hands and sniffed it. "Where's the towns water supply?"
Rushing out of the house and climbing into his truck, Peter raced towards Bucks home, waking up the sheriff from his sleep and asking for the keys to the towns water supply, which was a bit out of the town. To their surprise, they found the door to the water supply had been locked by a padlock, forcing Buck to shoot the lock with his handgun.
Opening the door, they were greeted with an awful smell. "Ugh! What's that smell? It smells like Sulfur." Brianna said, covering her nose while Peter got his hand wet and smelled the water.
"Yeah. Ugh! Sulfur dioxide. Same thing was seen in the Philippines in the twenty-century and the previous eruption of Mount Pinatubo before she blew. This mountain's a ticking bomb." Peter said grimly.
"How the hell did we not notice this?" Buck demanded.
"I don't know, but Glynda won't be able to ignore this now." Peter answered, climbing back into Buck's truck and drove back down into the town as fast as they could, stopping in the parking lot of the Cluster Motel.
Wasting no time, he knocked on Glynda's door, waking Glynda up. "Glynda! I've got that scientific evidence we need." Peter said with urgency, practically storming into Glynda's room.
"Peter, what are you talking about?" Glynda asked, rubbing her eyes while Peter filled a glass with the contaminated water.
"I've just come from the town's water supply." He said, handing Glynda the glass which she sniffed. "It's the same."
"Oh my god." Glynda said in alarm.
By early the next morning, the situation was becoming more urgent then they thought. "The quakes are beginning to swarm. Got a 4.2." Peter reported.
"Gas readings are goin' up too. It's not good." Jerry reported.
"Look at this." Tao called out.
"Sir, you need to understand, this is real. No, you don't understand, Weston's wrong. We've conclusive evidence that the mountain is going to erupt. No, it's not a joke, it's…" Glynda said into the phone, only to be hung up on by the one person who could mobilize the National Guard. "Damn it!" she cursed, slamming her phone down.
"Bad news?" Nancy guessed.
"Very bad." Glynda answered. "I called the governor, but he won't put the National Guard or Silver Guardians on alert, let alone call in some heroes. He's dead set that this is a prank, like Weston said." She then turned to Peter. "How much time do you think we've got, Peter?"
"I don't know it's too early to tell." Peter admitted, just as Brianna burst into the room.
"You guys might want to take a look at this!" she practically shouted, grabbing Peter by the arm and dragged him outside, facing the direction of the mountain which was now emitting smoke. "I don't think he can ignore this now." She said, referring to Weston, who she had also dragged out of bed and forcibly brought to the motel. "And before you say that it's someone playing a prank, don't bother!"
"It's supposed to be extinct! It's been extinct for centuries." Weston said in disbelief.
"Not anymore." Brianna quipped.
"You better put the town on alert. I'll alert the FAA." Glynda said, having followed Brianna and Peter outside before she went back inside.
"I'm going to need to get up there and see it." Peter said to his boss, much to the surprise of her, his colleagues and girlfriend. "Look, we don't know if the quake from two days ago was just the main event or the warmup act. If it was just a release of back pressure then, that would be a good thing, which means we're in the clear. On the other hand, it could be the set up for a full-blown volcanic eruption, which I think we can all agree is a bad thing. Visual contact might tell us one way or another."
"Peter you can't be serious. There are practically zero aren't trails up that side of the mountain." Brianna protested.
"Which is why we need to go back to that cave where the rangers fought that monster before it grew. I think there might be something we overlooked. We can take the rescue rover, it's the only vehicle we can take up the mountain. But we'll need a hero or two to go with us." Peter clarified.
"Alright, I'll get the girl that came with Ryukyu, and we'll head up the mountain ASAP." Brianna relented.
When morning came, an annoyed Weston was addressing the town and tourists about the impending volcanic activity. "In response to the potential volcanic threat to Angel Lake, I am suggesting that all citizens attend a meeting at the high school at 5:30 PM to discuss the possible evacuation of our town. A representative of the United States Geological Survey and several 'pro heroes' will be on hand to discuss the details. All tourists are advised to evacuate the town in a calm and orderly manner." Weston said on the news network. Nighteye watched the man's speech and knew that he was still under the belief that this was all an elaborate prank by some hoodlum with a quirk, possibly for kicks.
Needless to say, practically nobody believed in the advisory and were continuing with their regular lives, though a few tourists were smart to leave the town, as one of the deputies drove down the street in their squad car, shouting into the speaker. "Attention all citizens! There will be a meeting held… in the high school gymnasium at 5:30 PM to discuss the evacuation of Angel Lake. To repeat: All citizens are urged to attend the meeting… that will be held in the high school gymnasium. All tourists are advised to evacuate the town in a calm and orderly manner." The deputy advised.
Meanwhile, Melissa was on the phone in Rachels home, with the mayors' children waiting anxiously as the pink ranger called their grandmother. "Ruth, just please listen to us. You've seen the cloud coming up from the mountain! You know what that means, the mountain could blow at any minute, and you need to get out of there now!" Melissa urged.
"What do you think I didn't listen to you kids? I've already got my truck packed and Roughy's already in the truck. Same with Connor's dog. I've just got a few more things to pack and I'll be down shortly. Don't worry, tell my grandkids that I'll be down soon." Ruth assured the pink ranger over the phone, which she then hung up.
"Is grandma coming?" Grant asked.
"She'll be here, don't worry. Right now, you two need to pack a suitcase, one per person. Be ready to leave the moment she gets here." Melissa told the two kids, rushing out of the house and leaving the two kids to pack.
By 5:30, the high school gymnasium was not as packed as Glynda, Buck, Weston, his assistant, and the other members of the town council sat on a podium as one woman raised her hand amongst the murmuring crowd. "Do we have to wait? Can we leave now?" the woman asked.
"You don't need to wait, lady." Derric assured. "This is just the work of some prankster using his quirk to cause a panic and wants us to think the mountain is going to blow. If you're that concerned, then you can leave right now, but at the very least, take a copy of the town's emergency evacuation plan. I'll turn the floor over to Doctor Glynda Osborn." Still, the man was convinced that this was a prank and wasn't taking the situation seriously.
As Glynda began to discuss the situation to the townsfolk, Elliot who was amongst the crowd was talking with Les, who wasn't up with the rest of the town council. "It's all over Les, the plans gone to hell in a handbasket. I'm out of here before it hits the fan." He said with anger, pushing his way past the towns people while Les was trying to stop him.
The moment they were nearly at the door, all hell broke loose.
Cliffhangers, don't you hate them.
Ok, I'll admit that this probably very confusing, but I think you'll all like the ending I have planned for this arc. Trust me when I say it will be very enlightening to you all who want to know what's happening.
So, Lan's quirk, I combined the idea of Cross-Fusion from Megaman: NT Warrior, with the ability that Net-Navi's have to summon the weapons of the battle chips their net-ops send to them via PET.
And we've got an appearance of Flect Turn, but what connect does he have with Connor and his parents? You'll have to wait until next time.
Oh, and before I forget, a new MHA movie is set to be released later this year, no info on the dub date, but I am planning on going to see it in theaters.
Next time, Super Train thunder. So, I'll see you all then.
