chapter one for my first My hero Academia fanfic
Momo Yaoyorozu is just a regular girl with a quirk to make any nonliving thing she needs.
On her way home, she saw a crowd forming around an ally. Going to check it out, she saw a monster of sludge, only for a green-haired boy to run towards the beast, no doubt trying to help.
Only for All Might to show up and save the day. With the number one hero here, she continues her journey home.
On her way home, she hears a commotion the next street over. Curiousness takes over, and she checks it out.
She sees that green-haired boy talking to some blonde boy before he runs off. Before she can question the green-haired boy, All Might shows up giving the boy a speech before the muscle-bound man reverts to a skinny man.
"ALL MIGHT!" She shouts at the top of her lungs without thinking. The two guys cringe at this before their eyes land on the girl.
"Great" was all the blonde man could say, 10 minutes later and she now knows the truth as well.
Izuku and Toshinori can only stand silently, waiting for Momo to finish processing this revelation on All Might.
"After seeing you blindly run in to stop that monster, I agree with All Might!" The two let out a sigh of relief. She looks away from them, facing the setting sun.
"Don't worry about it. Your secret is safe with me!" She said as she walked away.
Two weeks later, Momo decided to check up on the two; her family's high standing in society has its perks when you need to find people.
She stands overhead at the beach with more garbage than some landfills. She watches Izuku move the piles of trash by hand.
"I see you're checking in on us!" The deep voice of All Might spooked her before turning around to see the muscle-bound Hero.
"You said he was going to inherit your power. I got curious about how that would go."
"It's quite simple. One for all puts an immeasurable amount of strain on the body. If Izuku were to use it now, he would die. He needs to be in tip-top shape if I'm going to give him my power!" he said with a chuckle.
"If you say so!" She said, looking back to Izuku.
"We're going jogging tomorrow. If you plan on coming back, we start at nine in the morning!" The girl smirks.
The following day Izuku is 30 minutes into his jog with Toshinori on a segway.
Just as Izuku was nearing his limit, a figure entered his peripheral vision. The figure was Momo in her jogging outfit.
"Momo, what are you doing here?" He said, managing to keep his pace.
"All Might told me you were jogging today. I figure you'd need moral support while you train to earn his quirk!" she said, running in place.
Those words lit a fire under him. He increased the pace to match Momo's. Toshinori can only smirk at this.
As weeks turned into months, Izuku strengthened, and his physique reflected the change. Toshinori was slightly amused to see Mom occasionally blush as Izuku bulked up.
Before the three knew it, the 10-month training time had ended.
Early in the morning, before school, Toshinori walks up to the beach and sees Momo at the parking lot edge.
Looking at Izuku, he's screaming on top of the last pile of trash, showing off his recently acquired muscles. Looking at Momo, he sees pink dusting her cheeks.
"Was moral support the only reason you stuck by his side the past 10 months?" the muscle-bound Hero said, standing beside her.
"Well, of course!" She said, looking away.
"If you say so," he jumps onto the beach to see Izuku's work before offering him a single strand of his hair.
"So that's how you do it!" Momo said, landing beside them and getting a nod from the number one hero.
With great reluctance, Izuku ingested All Mights Hair. This reminded Momo Izuku was born without a quirk.
"So, when will you tell your mom, Izuku?" the two guys cringed.
"The longer you wait, the harder it will be!" Izuku's face started losing color, and All Might began sweating.
"We'll wait till the weekend to tell her then!"
"That works for me, momo," the green-haired boy responded.
"I second that!" All Might said with a salute.
"Don't worry; I'll be there to help you out, Izuku," she said, attracting a smile from the boy.
When the UA school finally opened for the day, Izuku and Momo walked through the gates side by side. Izuku was a nervous wreck, while Momo was as calm as possible.
"Calm down, Izuku. I know you can do this!" Izuku took a deep inhale and exhaled, calming his nerves.
"Thanks, Momo," this is just another reminder of how much of a nervous wreck he could have been if he hadn't formed an unlikely friendship with Momo shortly after his training.
Conversely, Momo learned a hard lesson in humbleness after training alongside someone born without a quirk.
Just then, Katsuki Bakugo made himself known, walking past the two with a scowl.
As Izuku did, they would get their acceptance letters by the end of the day. He had just finished watching the video All Might sent him.
Pulling out his phone, he texted his now closest friend, Momo.
"I got it accepted into UA Momo!"
"I knew you had it in you, Izuku!"
"Thanks, see you at school!"
He almost couldn't sleep from the excitement. Little did he know Momo got in through a recommendation.
Fortunately, Izuku and Momo were put in the same homeroom class 1-A.
The first week at UA involved quirk assessment and teamwork on indoor battles and class reps.
During the battle, Momo and All Might traded glances, seeing Izuku using his greatest strength, his intelligence—all the hero data he'd gathered since childhood.
At the cost of his arm, Izuku and Ochaco pull ahead in the mock battle against Tenya and Kacchan.
Remembering the class rep, Izuku passed the title to Tenya, knowing he would be better for the job.
Izuku's nervousness returns as he leaves school for the weekend. Beside him is Momo, who reminds him to tell his mother the secret of his quirk. Within an hour, the two stand at his home's front door.
Seeing his reluctance, Momo opened the door so the two could walk inside.
"Wish All Might was here," he said aloud, only to hear the coughing behind them.
Sure enough, it's All Might or Toshinori when he's not in hero mode.
"Sorry, I'm late and got caught up with her work!" The two nod in understanding.
"Mom, I'm home!" he said, stepping into the living room. Moments later, Mrs. Midoriya walked out to see her son with a girl beside him.
"Honey, your back. Who is this?" she said, scanning Momo from top to bottom, putting the girl on edge.
"My classmate, momo, there is something important I must tell you, Mom."
Looking at the two closeness, "Don't tell me!" she said with a massive blush. "I'M TOO YOUNG TO BE A GRANDPARENT. What will your father say to this," she shouted as tears streamed from her eyes like sprinklers.
Before she could continue, the two students spoke up. "NO WAY! IT'S NOT LIKE THAT!" they shouted in unison. Unknown to either of them, they were sporting matching blushes from Mrs. Midoriya's words.
"Perhaps I can help!" All might say as he closes the door behind them, only revert to his regular form as he coughs up blood.
Looking at Mrs. Dimoriya, she needs clarification about what is going on. Setting her down in a chair and cup of tea, the three explain why Izuku suddenly has a Quirk. They start from the beginning, when Izuku first learned All Might's secret, to the end of the school week.
Mrs. Dimoriya sat silently, her eyes closed with a neutral expression.
"Izuku, Momo, I need to talk to Toshinori alone." She said calmly.
Izuku led Momo to his room, leaving the two adults to themselves.
When his bedroom door closed, Izuku's mother unloaded on the number one ranked Hero for a solid half hour. Izuku and Momo did their best to listen through his bedroom door.
Eventually, they heard a knock on his bedroom door. They carefully opened it to see mentally exhausted All Might. He gave them a thumbs up, telling them everything worked out.
"Mrs. Dim- no Inko, thank you for understanding," Toshinori said with a bow.
"Izuku!"
"Yes, mom?"
"Get the good seating mat out. We have guests for dinner tonight!" The two students and teacher laughed.
Inko went all out, making sure to have plenty to eat. Unsurprisingly, Izuku was eating the most, causing the others to look amused.
During and after dinner, Inko didn't hesitate to pick Momo and Toshinori's brains. She wanted all the details about what they had been up to with Izuku for the past ten months.
Izuku reluctantly gave them a tour of his room, especially all the All Might memorabilia he'd built up since he was a kid. He couldn't stop blushing from the embarrassment of his friend and idol seeing his room.
Suddenly, Momo's phone went off. After checking the caller ID, she found that her parents were calling. Izuku and Toshinori left her in Izuku's room for privacy.
A minute later, she stepped out with a sigh, "My parents were wondering where I was. I told them I was at a friend's house."
"I notice it is getting late," Izuku added before walking them to the street corner.
Going into his All Might form, the top Hero gave them goodbye before running off.
"Thanks for Coming, Momo. I doubt I could tell Mom about me inheriting all for one!"
"No problem Izuku. See you on Monday," she waved him off as she headed home.
Just as Momo reached the front gates of her home, she saw the muscle-bound Hero waiting for her.
"What brings you to my place, All Might?"
All might expression told her he was deep in thought, remembering how One for all is transferred and how Izuku is the ninth wielder. Then, it clicked for the young Hero.
"You're getting weaker, aren't you?" All Might nodded at this.
"Like it or not, the power One for All gives me slowly dies while It grows in Izuku. I vowed to train him and make him my successor, but."
"You can't always be there to protect him."
"Yes, when One for All finally leaves me, it will be Izuku's turn to be a symbol of peace. I want you to be by his side and help him reach his goal however you can. I know it is a lot to ask, but after seeing you support Izuku during his training, I know there can be no one else!"
"Hmm, you can count on me, All Might!" she said with conviction.
"That's what I wanted to hear!" he said with glee before heading off to who knows where.
Momo noticed he had dropped something, a piece of paper. Picking it up. It was an autographed picture of him for her.
"If this is supposed to be a bribe, it is a terrible one," she said with a sigh before opening the front gates of her home.
