Chapter 4 enjoy
Aizawa told class 1-A on Monday to prepare for the semester's written and Practical final exams. Predictably one half of the class is freaking out to various degrees, and the other is as calm as can be.
Momo is arguably the calmest of the bunch since she has placed number one in class thanks to midterms. Mina and Denki approached her for tutoring, and Kyoka, Hanta, and Mashirao asked if they could get some, too.
"Of course, I would love to have you over for tutoring. We can even use the great hall!" she said joyfully, surprising the five of them. She went on a rant about what tea they wanted and snacks to enjoy while they studied.
Nothing major happened the rest of the day besides preparing for the final exams next week before summer vacation.
Once school was out for the day, Shota Aizawa went over pairs for the final exam practical test.
He's debating whether to pair Izuku and Momo together to see how well they work together or pair them off with Bakugo and Todoroki like he initially planned.
Something on your mind, Aizawa?" Nezu said, standing beside him.
"I'm debating if Midoriya and Yaoyorozu should be paired up for the practical exam."
"I, too, would like to see how they fair as partners, but that would be unfair to the other students. But from what Toshinori said, they want to keep their friendship a secret for now, so keep them separated for the exam."
"Understood Midoriya will be partnered with Bakugo and Yaoyorozu with Todoroki then."
Momo knocked on her mother's office door. "Come in," her mother said. She opened the door and saw her mother, a practical carbon copy of herself but 20 years older.
"What is it, Momo?"
"Some friends from class are coming over after school tomorrow to study for final exams."
"Sounds wonderful. Who's coming over?" Momo gave her mother the five names.
"Is that boy you talk about going to be here?" her mother said with a giggle.
"Mom!"
"You've mentioned a male friend before. Have your father, and I met him, No!" Momo just looked away, not wanting to give her mother more ammunition than she already had.
"Fine, be that way, but the truth will come out in time."
Momo couldn't argue that she would have to tell them about Izuku sooner or later. After the disaster, his mother's first reaction was to ensure it wouldn't be taken incorrectly.
She quickly dismissed those thoughts as she went to bed for the night.
Texting the five in a group chat, she got approval from her mother. She gave them an address and told them to meet at her place tomorrow after school.
She wished Izuku could have been here for tutoring, but after the teasing, her mother gave her silence and said thank you to a higher power.
The next day, they were astounded to see the front gate of Momo's home, not including the mansion she calls home.
They all wait in the great hall, preparing their school notes and supplies.
Momo inhaled deeply and then exhaled to calm her nerves. Her mother questioned her and asked if the mystery boy was there for a tutoring session like her classmates despite saying he wouldn't be there when she brought him up the first time.
"No, he is not, Mother!" her mother pouted at this as Momo entered with tea for everyone.
Thankfully, she made a 180-degree change in her personality, wanting to keep her home and school lives as far apart as possible.
The first two days of the written portion were difficult for all 20 students. The five silently thanked Momo for helping them out.
Now, on the third da
y, she is wrestling with her evolving feelings towards Izuku. It takes great effort to hide this conflict from the outside world. Unfortunately, every once in a while, she has a moment of weakness. Her pink-skinned classmate noticed one of these weak moments. She, of course, decided to jump at the chance.
She is enjoying her lunch break in the school cafeteria with her friends as they prepare for the final written exam day. That makes tomorrow the practical exam. She hopes she can do well. She wouldn't admit it but silently hopes Izuku is her partner. However, she highly doubts that since Aizawa knows Izuku wields One for All.
"So what's going on between you and Midoriya!" her pink-skinned friend said. Momo spit out the rice she was chewing after hearing the sudden question.
"Where did this come from, Mina?" she said defensively. She noticed Kendo at the following table, looking her way with a giggle.
"Itsuka Kendo, when I get my hands on you!" she glares at the girl, who sends her a mischievous smirk.
"I noticed you gazed at him longer than normal once. Not to mention, during P.E., you two started sparring with each other without hesitation, unlike the rest of us!"
"Now that you mention it," Jiro speaks this time.
"You usually pretty open when you text someone, but occasionally, you seem very closed off from the rest of us.
"Going back to your guarded text messaging, unlike the rest of us, you turn down hanging out with us after school without a reason why!" Hagakure added.
By this time, Momo is blushing like crazy from all the shots her friends made.
"If not Midoriya, then who? You can tell us, Momo!" Mina said.
Momo looked away, hoping her friends would drop the topic at hand.
"Fine, be that way, but will find out the truth eventually!" Momo mentally sighed in relief.
Now, she and her classmate have to prepare for the final stretch of the written exam. It was as complicated as she suspected, but fortunately, it went by quickly.
They will get their result for the written portion tomorrow.
After ensuring she had all her stuff from school, Momo headed home for the day. Just as she was about to walk past the U.A. entrance, she glanced back at the school. Her eyes quickly landed on Izuku chatting with Tenya and Ochaco. Seeing their closeness weighed heavy on her heart. She silently watched them as they got closer and closer.
She managed to break her gaze, looking at the school entrance to continue her journey home.
Momo turns back and forth in bed. It's the night before the practical exam. Sitting, she takes a deep inhale and exhales.
"Izuku, I…like you!" she said to herself with a racing heartbeat. She said it repeatedly, and her heart raced each time. When her pulse started slowing down, a smile graced her face.
"I have a crush on Izku," she said as she laid back down with a yawn, happy she finally understood her feelings towards Izuku.
The first practical exam is Sato and Kirishima vs. Cementoss. Unfortunately, they thought brute force would work, and as a result, they failed.
The following exams are Asui and Tokoyami. They didn't hesitate to retreat, knowing a head-on battle would end well for them. Thanks to Asui's Quirk, they were able to cuff ectoplasm.
The next team is Iida and Ojiro, who are against the power loader. Thanks to his quick speed, Tenya could get Ojiro to the exit goal, passing the exam.
The following exam is Momo and Shota vs Aizawa. Doubt enters Momo's mind, making her unsure of what to do. Then, her conversation with Izuku returns to her after their impromptu sparring match. A smirk forms as her mind goes into strategy mode.
"Shoto, I have an idea of how we can pass!" He looks at her questioningly and steps away from the others. After some back-and-forth, they settle on a strategy.
"Sounds good to me, Yaoyorozu!"
"That's what I wanted to hear,"
Once their exam started, Momo went to work and created small objects as they traversed the residential zone.
It was only a short time before Aizawa found them before shutting off their quirks. Momo grabbed one of the Russian dolls she had made and threw it toward the teacher. The explosion forced him to blink.
Shoto created an ice wall to block his view, looking at Momo. She is already making her version of the straps around his neck. She followed the straps up with a mini catapult.
Next, she created a few cloaks and the top half of a mannequin. Now, it's time to implement the next step of their plan. Thankfully, Aizawa fell for the ruse. They launched the strap before Shoto blasted it with his flames, activating the nitinol, trapping Aizawa, and allowing them to place the handcuffs on him. A loud siren went off, telling them they had passed their exam.
"Well done, you two, you pass!" he said as they celebrated their victory.
Looking at Momo Aizawa, he thought only one thing. "Izuku, sometimes you're a better teacher than me." He recalls secretly watching them spar at the beach about her confidence.
In the following match, Ochaco and Yuga faced off against 13. Ochao used everything she learned interning with Gunhead to allow them to secure victory.
Next up were Ashido and Kaminair, and to everyone's utter lack of surprise, they failed at the hands of Principal Nezu.
Koda and Jiro's exams followed theirs. At the cost of her bloody ears, Jiro gave Koda the resolve to use his power on the forest insects to overrun Present Mic, securing their victory.
Shoji and Hagekure's exam was against Snipe, using her Quirk, with Shoji acting as a decoy. They cuffed Snipe; unfortunately, because of her Quirk, he accidentally touched her chest, to his horror.
The second to last exam is Mineta and Sero. Fortunately, Mineta overcame his weakness and secured victory through the exit gate.
The final practical exam is Izuku and Bakugou vs All Might.
"Ready Kacchan?"
"You know I am Deku!" he said with glee.
Izuku can only sweat drops at his response. He hopes his plan to win over his cooperation pays off. Knowing Bakugo wanted to avoid retreating to win the exam. He devised a simple and hopefully successful plan to pass using Bakugo's desire to beat All Might.
The moment the bell rang, they ran to the center, wanting to conserve their strength. Then, they saw a shock wave of All Might punches racing towards them.
"Remember the plan, Kacchan!" he said as he activated his Quirk.
"Do you even need to ask?" he said, heading head-first towards the number one Hero as Izuku dashed out of sight.
Izuku jumped from one building using full cowling, staying out of All Might's vision. He soon heard loud bangs and a rush of Air. Bakugo is facing All Might head-on.
He climbs onto the building and watches Bakugo use his Quirk to bounce around All Might. He reluctantly follows Izuku's plan.
When All Might swept away some of the dust, he saw Bakugo smirking as he unleashed his twin gauntlets, not at him but at the ground beneath his feet.
"Check, Mate All Might!" he said before unleashing the full force of his Quirk, creating a massive dust cloud. All Might immediately started coughing like crazy. That was when he heard the cracking of concrete. Looking at the source, he heard a click on his hand.
He blasts away all the dust with a clap of his hands and smirks as he looks at the cuffs on his left hand.
"Well done, you two!" he shouts, seeing the two standing side by side with smirks of their own.
"Told you it would work, Kacchan!"
Everyone watching the exam was utterly shocked when two won against All Might. The siren announced their victory after a full minute.
"Finally did good for once, Deku!"
All Might, Izuku, and Momo all sweat drops at Bakugo's words.
As the three head back to the entrance, Bakugo looks at Izuku with his usual scowl. He remembers Izuku approaching him with a plan.
Flashback start
Bakugo headed off on his own to devise a way to beat All Might. Then he heard the sound of running. To his utter lack of surprise, it was Deku.
"What do you want, Deku?"
"I have an idea for our Fight against All Might."
"A plan from you? No thanks, I'm not retreating from him, so get lost," he said with a huff as he stormed away. But Izuku wouldn't let up and continued his following.
"If you don't leave me alone, I'll kill you with my Quirk. You got that!" he spat. What he wasn't expecting was a pissed-off expression from his classmate. Then he saw him activating his Quirk. He cracked his knuckles, ready to attack.
Before he could react, Izuku's fist came right for his face. He stopped his attack just a hair from his face, close enough for him to feel the force behind his attack. For the first time in a long time, Bakugo was scared into silence as Izuku's eyes drilled into his mind.
It is clear to him that the Izuku he knew when they were small kids to the rest of middle school is gone, replaced by a far more powerful and confident Izuku.
"If your plan is shit, then I'm not bothering you. Hear that!" Izuku smirks at this.
"My plan depends on you taking on All Might by yourself!" Bakugo's face is covered in a large smirk. It took less than a minute for Bakugo to take Izuku's plan to heart and agree to it.
Not too far away, Aizawa silently listened in on them and only had one thought.
"That's one way to get on Bakugo's good side."
Flashback end
As they head back to U.A.'s locker room, Bakugo keeps an eye on Izuku, wondering what happened to Deku. For the longest time, he was a quirkless loser. He could easily beat him in a fight, but after his purposeful missed punch, he's not so sure anymore. One thing is for certain: He will find out how he got a quirk.
