The next day in the mountains, the sun rises in the sky and the sun ray beams at Balto, Comet, and Daylight inside of the cave which causes them to groan in stir as they started to wake up. Balto, Comet, and Daylight arches their backs, stretching their tired limbs before shaking off the sleep off of them, getting ready to search for Aleu. After a long journey, Comet and Daylight learned from the fox about who they trust and face their fears from the wolverines, but of course, they were on a very rough path to try to find the wolves at the mountains.
"You two alright?" Balto asks.
Comet and Daylight were about to respond when their stomachs growled, causing them to blush in embarrassment as Balto chuckled.
"Take it you guys haven't eaten anything since you left?" Balto asks as Comet and Daylight nodded. "Well, we won't find anything much in the mountains, but we'll find something once we get out of here and find Aleu."
Comet and Daylight then follows Balto out of the cave, continued to search for Aleu.
At the same time at the other cave at the mountain, Aleu continues to rest after a long journey of her own after running away from her father and learning the truth that she's more of a wolf than a dog. The mist is slowly starting to spread over her, which causes her to stir as she sat up, looks around the area. She then hears the singing that's coming deeper into the cave as she ventures further. Aleu kept on venturing deeper and the sound of singing is starting to grow loud, crawling through the small cavern while following the source of singing while listening.
Aleu stops, felt the sound of creaking from the ground, but causing her to fall down with a shout as she falls down into the deeper cave. She stands up but felt a drip from her nose as she looks up, and noticing stalactites were dripping from her nose again, causing her to shake the water off. She then continued to venture further, listening to the song.
Voice (Sings):
Praise for the high tide
Praise for the seaside
Praise for the sun at high noon
Praise for the lightning
Praise for the singing
Praise for the Father sun
And the Sister Moon
Praise for the red dawn
Grass that we walked upon
Praise for the river's whispered tune
Once Aleu found the source of the singing voice, she saw a field mouse singing next to the crystals and the cave filled with something crystalline-like stars. She then slowly approached him while listening to his song.
Field Mouse (Sings):
Praise for the Wind Brother
Praise for the Earth Mother
Praise the Father Sun

Hey-ya, hey-ya, hey-ya-a-a!
Aleu is enjoying the song, she begins to howl.
Field Mouse (Sings):
Hey-ya, hey-ya, hey-ya-a-a!
Aleu then howls again, which it got the field mouses attention.
"Your singing is quite beautiful." The field mouse said with compliment, glances over at Aleu.
"Oh, thank you." Aleu replied with a smile. "Sometimes I, just can't help myself. I'm sorry, did I interrupt you?"
"Oh no, I love to hear wolves sing. It's one of your specialties." The field mouse answered as he scampered toward the crystal, tilts it straight up. "You also have a keen sense of smell, such a wonderful creatures you are."
"I'm not a wolf!" Aleu told him with a frown.
"Oh! Then, that is why I'm not afraid of you." The field mouse said, then scampered to the other crystals, twisted one of them and moves the other one up. "Why should I be afraid of one who does not know who she is?"
"I know who I am! I am Aleu, daughter of Balto and Jenna, who happens to be a purebred husky!" Aleu remarked, leans down to his level with a growl which it didn't seem to scare him. "Who are you?"
"I am Muru, son of Kahu and Quillaq. Both of the simple field mice." Muru answered, turns to him with a smile. "This answer tells us what we are, but not who we are."
"Okay then, how do I find out who I am?" Aleu questions with her ear drooped down, but notices Muru moving the big crystal. "What are you doing?"
Without an answer, Muru moves the crystal to the sun ray which causes to refracting to the other crystals, and then revealing the animals on the cave wall.
"I am shedding light, where darkness lies." Muru answered as Aleu looked at the animals with awe. "When every creature in the world is born, a spirit stands beside them."
"Why?" Aleu questions, turns to him.
"To light their way through the long dark night and sing them songs to guide them." Muru answered.
"Why?" Aleu asks again when she and Muru looked up at the animals.
"Because each of us has a destiny that sets us all apart. The path is different for you and me, but the journey begins in the heart." Muru explains, placing the crystal to the sun beam, causing the colors of the background turned into rainbow along with the animal spirits.
Muru (Sings):
You must go to the east, go to the west
The road is rocky and the way is far
It's a dangerous trail, a difficult quest
If you want to know, who you really are?
Muru move the crystal, making the crystals to collapse as the lights showed the different animal spirits. Aleu watches the jellyfish spirit swam to the left, and the hawk spirit flies to the opposite directions.
Muru and Chorus (Sings):
There are voices all around you
To comfort and to guide you
Muru tilts the crystal down, lighting the owl and the baby owl spirits, who waves its wing to teach, and the bear spirit roars.
Muru and Chorus (Sings):
Fathers and teachers
Powerful creatures
And a voice sings inside you
Aleu was shocked at this, when the wolf spirit below her howls. Then the light shows the various animal spirits below her, but then shows the animal spirits to scare her while forcing her to go back. Aleu backs a little, but stops and saw animal spirits all around her causing her to look all around and the light shows around her.
Chorus (Sings):
Or you can turn back around
Run along home
Back to the place where your friends are
Perhaps that is best
You need the rest
The light then shows the wolves chasing after the caribou at the river, but the herd leaps over and lands on a grassy ground.
Chorus (Sings):
Who wants to go on a ridiculous quest?
The light then shows the animal spirits, and Aleu is shocked at this, but looks down to see them moving away and up above her, showing the wolf spirit howling, and the raven spirit.
Chorus (Sings):
Unless you want to know

Muru (Sings):
Who you really are?
Chorus (Sings):
Who are you?

Then, the lights show the wolves to Aleu, showing her of who she is. She then looked up to see the various animal spirts, then the wolves.
Muru and Chorus (Sings):

The wolf spirits vanished, showing the crystals and her.
"Muru, are you my spirit guide?" Aleu asks as the light fades. "Are you here to help me?"
"Have faith and trust in yourself, and make the journey." The voice of Muru said as she turns.
"Muru? Muru!" Aleu called her, walking towards the mouse spirit who happens to be Muru.
She then head towards the crack that would lead into the cavern, venturing further to find a way out. But unknown to her, a bear is behind her. Aleu saw the light, about to leave when the snarl was heard and she gasp to see a bear roaring at her. She makes a run for it and out of the cave, but the bears pursues, got stuck, and she kept on running until she stops herself at the edge of the cliff. The bear got out, running after her as it stands on its hind legs with roar, about to swipe her with its maul when Balto stops by biting the maul.
"Papa!" Aleu exclaims in shock.
The bear swings its maul, forcing Balto to let go as he crashes right to the tree.
"Glad you're still speaking to me." Balto said with a smile.
The bear is about to get close to her, which Aleu ducks underneath and ran as the bear pursues after her. Both Comet and Daylight fired their magic at the bear, which it got its attention as it ran to the two unicorns, causing the two to dodge the swipe. Balto ran after the bear, leaps on its back. The bear tries to shake him off, but Balto tries to hold on. The bear lands on all-fours, and rise up, pushing Balto off of him, knocking him down to the ground. The bear's about to go after him, but Aleu bites it by the hind leg which causes it to swipe her, knocking her down to the ground and into the cliff as Aleu holds on. Comet ran as he uses his magic to levitate Aleu to the ground.
"Thanks." Aleu said as the bear slowly approaches the two.
"Oh no you don't!" Balto shouts, charges after the bear and bites its hind leg which it shoves him away easily.
Daylight uses her magic to teleport Balto while the bear tumbles down to the ground.
"Thanks, Daylight." Balto thanked her.
"Um, we're not out yet!" Comet warned them when the bear stands on its hind legs with a snarl.
"I'll hold him off, you three run for it!" Balto ordered.
"No! I'll hold him off and you three run for it!" Aleu retorted, gasped when the bear swings its maul.
"There's no time to argue! I'm your father and you do what I said!" Balto snapped, but they quickly dodge the swipe of the maul when Aleu lands.
"And I say I'm too big to be ordered around!" Aleu argues back, but both Comet and Daylight pushes her away from the bear while Balto ran next to the three.
"How did you get so stubborn?!" Balto demands.
"I take after you, remember!" Aleu retorted.
But just as the bear slowly approaching the four, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight's eyes are starting to glow in golden yellow, sharing the inner sight. Balto frowns at that, but looked up in the sky as he remembered from his dream.
"Inner Knowing..."
Soon as their eyes returned to normal, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight quickly turned to Balto.
"We got to jump!" Aleu suggested.
"B-b-but we'll be killed!" Balto protests.
"And we'll die if we don't!" Comet points out as he and Daylight uses their magic to teleport them out of the cliff as the bear vanished, but they teleported on the top of the ledge.
"You three knew the ledge is here." Balto said, turning to the three.
"Yeah, we did, I think." Comet said. "But it's more like..."
"Like what?" Balto inquires.
"We looked at the bear's thoughts and we saw it." Daylight answered.
"But the question, why did you come and find me?" Aleu asks with a frown. "And who are those two?"
"This is Comet Stardust and Daylight Savings. They came to look for the wolf pack." Balto answered.
"Wolf pack?" Aleu repeats surprisingly.
"We've been having visions few days ago, and...we left on our own by running away from the Crystal Empire without our family and friends." Daylight explains, leaving her shocked. "It's a long story."
"It'll be another time, but...I've also come to take you home." Balto adds.
"No! I don't wanna go home." Aleu said, walk past them as she jumps down of the ledge. "Not until find out of who I am."
"That's ridiculous, Aleu, you know who you are." Balto remarked with a scoff when Comet and Daylight jumps down next to her.
"And, what do you mean of who you are?" Comet asks.
"Well, I know of what I am, but not who I am." Aleu points out, jumps down. "And I'm not stopping until I find out."
Seeing that her mind is made up, Balto decided to help her.
"Then, I'm coming with you." Balto said.
"Oh, papa." Aleu said with a smile.
"Is he always like...you know." Daylight said.
"Yeah, he still treats me like I'm a cub but he's my papa." Aleu answered with a giggle.
"Sounds like somepony we know." Comet states as Aleu and Daylight laughed.
"Hey, I heard that!" Balto shouts, jumps down but noticed the smell. "It's saltwater!"
Comet and Daylight starts to sniff the air which is salty, realizing what he's telling them.
"Then that means we're close to the sea!" Daylight exclaims.
"Exactly! C'mon!" Balto said, leads on as Aleu, Daylight, and Comet follows him.
After few minutes later, Balto, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight were out of the mountains while making their way into the forest. Balto was able to get some berries for the two foals to eat since they haven't been eating anything during their journey. Aleu learned that the two foals used to be human from Earth, and astonished about it. She felt bad for them, dealing with hardships and losing their birth parents. Like her father, she's glad that they got a second chance and living a good life in Equestria. The raven flies in the sky, circling around the sea when Balto, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight were able to catch up.
"I sure would like to know why I keep seeing that raven." Balto said as Aleu walks next to him.
"You're following the raven?" Aleu asks.
"It's not just him, but us." Comet told her, earned her attention. "Me and Daylight saw the raven outside of the Crystal Empire, we've been following it until we ran into Balto. He promised us to help us find the wolf pack."
Aleu then turns to her father.
"I know it sounds dumb, but I've been seeing this raven into my dreams." Balto admits, which Aleu is surprised.
"Your dreams?" Aleu asks as Balto nods.
"We only followed it, because I promised to help me find you." Balto explains.
"I've been seeing a raven, too." Aleu said.
While Aleu explains to Balto, Comet, and Daylight, the three wolves known as Nuk, Yak, and Sumac were watching from the far distance in the forest.
"You think that could be them, Sumac?" Yak asks, turned to him but scratching his ears because of the fleas.
"Uh, it's getting me...Uh, what do you think, Nuk? Huh? Huh?" Sumac asked when he and Yak turned to Nuk, who's chewing the bone.
"I don't think, I just eat!" Nuk snarls. "It's more filling."
But the shadow of a wolf appears, which happens to be a black wolf known as Niji.
"What are you waiting for?" Niju asks in annoyance, earned their attention. "Get them!"
It got them frightened and Sumac grabs hold of Yak, who looked at him in annoyance. Sumac yelps as he lets go, falls into the ground.
"Okay, okay, you don't have to yell." Yak said, scratching his ear and then he, Yak, and Sumac make their way to them.
"Why a raven? Why here?" Aleu questions when she, Balto, Comet, and Daylight watches the raven circling around the sea.
"I wish we knew." Balto said when Aleu sniffs the air, caught the scent. "What is it?"
"Company...and it doesn't smell friendly." Aleu answered which Balto felt the same.
"Let's get outta her, come on kids." Balto said as they ran down into the sandy beach, searching. "See anything?"
"No, maybe I was wrong...Look, Papa!" Aleu exclaims happily, ran into the ledges. "Wow, just love it here! It's so wild, c'mon!"
"Don't go out too far, Aleu! The tides coming in fast!" Balto warned her, but Comet and Daylight catches up to her.
"I'll be fine!" Aleu shouts back, slides and jumps into the ledge as she, Comet, and Daylight enjoys the feeling of the wind blowing their fur and mane.
"I don't like you three be in here!" Balto shouts when he catches up to them, earned their attention. "You could slip and fall!"
"Papa, you've got to stop worrying about me." Aleu said with a frown when they heard the snarl, causing them to look up and see three wolves above them.
"And start worrying about us!" Yak adds with a sneer, jumps down in front of them while Sumac did the same.
"Yes! Us...because we're...mean..." Sumac said with a laugh. "Right, Nuk?"
"Yeah! Especially when I'm hungry!" Nuk agrees, jumps down as they slowly approaching the four.
"Look, we don't want any trouble." Balto said. "This is your territory, we'll just go."
"Sorry, but you're not going...nowhere!" Yak remarked after scratching his ear again.
"That's 'anywhere', fleabag!" Aleu retorted with a growl when Comet and Daylight readied their magic from their horns.
"Aleu, I hardly think this is the time to be correcting his grammar." Balto points out quietly.
"Papa!" Aleu said.
But the three wolves continued to slowly walk to them, who are walking back close to the sea which the tide is coming in fast. The raven noticed that they're about to be force down into the sea, flew down towards the wolves which it got their attention and they backed away, but slips and slides down to the ground because of the tide.
"At least we know the ravens on our side." Balto said with a smirk.
"Come on, we can take 'em!" Aleu said with confidence, charges after them.
"Aleu, no!" Balto shouts, but it's too late as she pounces onto Yak.
Yak and Aleu recovers as they growl, getting ready for a fight. Balto intervenes by pouncing onto Nuk and bites him in the ear, but Sumac was about to jump, causing Balto to make him miss and he crashes down into the ledge as the tide splashes onto the wolf. Yak and Aleu circle around each other with a growl, but Balto leaps after him and bites him in the leg. Nuk was about to pounce onto Balto when Comet fired his magic at him, and Daylight fires her magic at Sumac.
Sumac recovered from that blast, turns to the two foals with snarl as he slowly approaches them.
"You shouldn't be playing with the wolf, little ones!" Sumac said with mockery laugh.
But just as Sumac's about to pounce, Aleu pushes him away from the two foals. The three wolves surrounded them, which Balto, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight are getting ready for a fight.
"Aw, and I thought doggies and horses could swim." Yak said, scratching his ear.
"Yeah, yeah, and don't they all go to Heaven?" Sumac asks with a laugh, much to their unamused look. "Doggies go to Heaven...Oops!
It got Sumac realizing that both Yak and Nuk aren't even laughing, which it's more like they're annoyed. They glanced each other for a few seconds, then back to the two wolves and two foals, slowly approaching and about to attack when the tide splashes them down. Balto, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight can see the three wolves began to realize the tides are coming.
"The tide is coming." Sumac groans as he, Yak, and Nuk makes a run for it. "We got to get out of here!"
Balto, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight agreed with the idea as they followed them, avoiding the tide, climbing up to those rocks when Niju approached in front of the pack with disappointed look on his face.
"Get back there, you sniveling cowards!" Niju snarls.
"But Niju, the tide! We'll drown!" Sumac complains as Yak and Nuk nods with an agreement.
"Yes, there's always that chance, but if you don't take it, I'll make sure you drown!" Niju said when he walk past them, then glances at his pack with a snarl which causes the three wolves to whimper. "If those four live, they'll take what's left of our food!"
And without thinking twice, the three wolves rushes after them with Niju in front of them, about to fight when a voice was heard.
"Stop!" The voice of the elder wolf named Nava ordered when he and the wolf pack arrived. "Clear a path for our visitors."
Niju refuses to comply to that order, but Nuk, Yak, and Sumac didn't want to either, which they don't want to make the wolf leader mad.
"Now!" Nana said sternly as the three wolves whimpers and reluctantly walk toward the rest of the wolves.
"I will not let them go, Nava!" Niju said with a scowl, looking at the wolf leader. "I will not you, an aging fool destroy us with your weakness!"
"I admire your passion, Niju, but do not mistake my old age for weakness nor youth or strength." Nava warns him as he walks in front of the four, making Niju back away. " I ask again, will you care the way for the visitors?"
"No!" Niju answered without hesitation, but Nana notices an orca approaching at the ocean.
Niju is about to approach, but backs off when Nava slowly walk to him and making get close to the edge of the cliff. But once Niju got close enough, an orca spouts out water from the blowhole, splashing down to the black wolf as the pack of wolves, except Nava, Comet, and Daylight laughed. Niju walks away in humiliation, never felt his pride got tarnished by Nava's trick.
"Someday, your tricks will not be enough to save you!" Niju growls in anger.
"I'm sorry it had to be this way, Niju." Nana said, tried his best not to laugh while the wolves kept on laughing, making him growl even more while walking away.
"Thanks for your help." Balto thanked him.
"You're welcome, but it is I who thank you for coming at last." Nava replied, making Balto, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight surprised.
"You knew we were coming?" Comet asks.
"Of course, it was I who sent for you." Nava replied with a smile which they're even more shocked. "And it was I who give you two a trial for your long journey to find us."
"What?! Why?" Daylight exclaims.
"I'll explain once we get you four settled in." Nava told them.
And just as the sun is setting on the horizon, the wolves, Balto, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight were gathered at the mountains since Nava had something important to tell them. Nana is at the top of the ledge, looked down at his pack and he gives the announcement.
"My brothers and sisters, our summer is almost past, and I have listened to the trees into the blades of grass, and they have said this...the caribou will not return this year." Nava informed them, leaving them shocked and they began to murmur to each other. "Nor any other here, for they have cross the Great Water. If we are to survive, we must follow them."
"The old one believes that trees and grass can talk, it is time to realize that our leader has lost the ability to lead!" Niju scoffs when he approaches them, mocking Nava.
Some of the wolf pack agreed to Niju, but most of them weren't too happy about the black wolf talking bad. Balto, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight could only scowl at him because of his stubbornness and arrogance. The wolves looked at Niju with anger.
"How dare you say that?!"
"Yes, Nava has always led us well!"
And just when things could out of hand, Nava spoke.
"Stop!" Nava ordered, earned their attention. "Let him speak! It is his right."
And with that, Niju begins to speak to the wolf pack. Comet and Daylight isn't going to like what the black wolf is about to tell them.
"Nava would have us leave the land that it's been clans' home for generation. So, what if the caribou did not return this year, this does not mean they will not come again!" Niju announces.
"Niju could be right."
"And he could be wrong."
"If we do stay, how will we survive without the caribou? They bring us life!"
"Simple, we take what we need from other clans." Niju answered with a smirk, leaving them shocked.
"Steal from others?!"
"It isn't right!"
"When you were hungry, there is no right!"
"Yes, there is a right! Our right to survive!" Niju shouts.
"No, it's not!" Comet shouts, earned their attention. "The clans had the right to fight if your clan ever tried to steal. And if that happens, it will lead to a conflict between the clans and everything will be lost!"
"The young one is right, and if we eat the food of other clans, what will they eat?" Nava questions, slowly walking down.
"That is not our concern!" Niju remarked.
"It is our concern!" Daylight retorted. "The clans will fight for yours, and it will lead them to die, including you and the pack!"
"And it's not the balance of our world that concerned of all." Nava adds, agreeing with her as he turns to the wolf pack. "If we steal from other clans, those clans will force to steal as well! Soon, we will all be fighting for less, and less food!"
The wolf pack can see that Nava, Comet, and Daylight are making valid point of Niju's foolish plan.
"Uh oh, less and less food, that sounds bad, doesn't it Sumac?" Yak asks with worry, then scratching himself.
"Oh, yeah, yeah really bad." Sumac agrees, bumps into Nuk. "Unless you're on diet."
"Who's on a diet?" Nuk asks, shoves Sumac aside.
"Aniu, the white wolf, has come to me in dream visions, and has told me what we must do." Nava said, then turns. "She said, we must move on, and we must be led by the one who is wolf and does not know."
It got Balto shocked and it got Aleu, Comet, and Daylight's attention.
"Papa?" Aleu said.
"Look, I'm flattered, really. I mean, I've led a dog team before, but never a wolf pack." Balto told him, but Niju laughed.
"See here? Our wise leader, who visits with the great Aniu, only in his dreams, has brought a mutt to guide us!" Niju mocks as Yak, Sumac, and Nuk laughed, but Aleu, Comet, and Daylight scowled.
"Uh, what's a mutt?" Yak asks.
Aleu growls, slowly walking to Niju who pulls back while gritting his teeth. Balto, Comet, and Daylight can tell she doesn't take kindly to anyone who insults her father.
"Aleu, he's not worth it!" Comet called her, but Balto stops him as he head to his daughter.
"It's alright, Aleu." Balto assures her, earned her attention as he looks at Niju with a glare. "His blood may be pure, but his motives aren't."
Aleu can tell that her father made a valid point about his motive, she then walks up to the ledge to announce the wolf pack.
"I say Niju is afraid to cross the Great Water!" Aleu said, leaving the wolf pack shocked and Niju snarls.
"I am not afraid, but crossing the Great Water is impossible!" Niju snapped, walking to the ledge. "We cannot swim it, we would all die! So, now I, Niju, say Nava must step down and let a true leader take his place!"
"I will step down, Niju, when the true leader takes my place." Nava remarked.
He had enough as Niju leaps in midair, about to kill Nava and both Comet and Daylight widen their eyes in horror when they see the black wolf rebel in order to kill the elder wolf.
