While the wolf pack, Balto, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight were watching Niju leaps after Nava and about to bite him, the elder wolf vanished and the black wolf lands on the rocky ground. Niju snarls with rage, but turns into confusion as he glances to his right, noticed that the elder wolf is no longer at the cliff. He turns his head to look him, but the wolf pack, Comet, and Daylight approaches.
"Show yourself, Nava, your magic tricks will not stop me!" Niju growls angrily, but turns to the pack. "I will be a leader who does not depend on foolish dreams! Those who will...follow me!"
But once Niju walks away, several of the wolves followed him in reluctance because of his arrogance and not believing in the elder wolf's dream. Several of the wolves remained behind while still believing in Nava's dream as they left. Balto felt guilty for not stopping Niju since the black wolf is too stubborn and prideful to listen. Aleu, Comet, and Daylight then notices something is wrong with the old tree, narrowing their eyes a bit as Nava revealed himself. It got them smiled with relief, watching Nava pulling himself out of the tree and approaching them, then they walked away.
"How did you do that?" Aleu asks.
"I simply became one with the tree." Nava answered.
"If I tried that, I'd get splinters." Balto states.
"Would you teach me?" Aleu offers.
"Um, I don't think he'll teach you that trick. It's not that simple." Daylight points out.
"The young filly is right. It is a thing that cannot be taught. One just know." Nava agrees when they walk next to the cliff, notice the sea that has ice pieces and the night sky that has aurora borealis. "But now, we must speak of how you will lead us to the caribou."
"Nava, I don't understand how I can lead you anywhere." Balto protests when Aleu, Comet, and Daylight's eyes were glowing, and then the vision is showing them the herd of caribou running on ice. "I had these dreams, but I don't even know what they mean."
"Each of us have a unique gift. Perhaps, your dreams show us the way." Nava told him, as he began leaving and the raven flies around in the sky.
Balto, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight turned their heads, watching Nava leaving and out of sight. Balto is getting the same idea as the elder wolf has, started to leave while Aleu, Comet, and Daylight are thinking that Nava might be right about the caribou. They walk next to Balto, who stops with a frown on his face.
"This has gone too far, and it isn't our battle." Balto said.
"But Balto, we saw a caribou." Daylight told him which left him shocked, but he's not convinced.
"Look, this could get very dangerous. Despite my dreams...or anything else, I will not any of you in danger." Balto argued, turning to the three.
"But this isn't just about us anymore, papa, this is about something bigger. Don't you see, we're supposed to help them." Aleu points out. "I'm sorry, but whether I stay or go should be my decision."
"I'm with Aleu on this, these wolves are in a very bad situation. We've got to help them, and we know Niju won't listen, but all we can do is try." Comet said, agreeing with her as the blow of the wind breezes through their fur.
"That wind is sign of winter is coming early. Your mothers would be worried sick, we all leave in the morning." Balto suggested, decided to call it a day to get some sleep, leaving Aleu, Comet, and Daylight alone.
"Why couldn't Balto ever realize why we're here?" Daylight asks with a sigh. "Couldn't he at least try to consider help them?"
"I'm afraid he's just too stubborn to admit that Nava is right. He's still treats me like a kid." Aleu told her. "I guess it'll be time to leave tomorrow."
"But if we leave, we'll never be able to get answers from Nava or help the wolf pack." Comet protests. "Not to mention you're old enough to make a choice of your own."
"Not where he's standing." Aleu said, sighed. "Let's just rest up for the night, we'll have a talk with Nava tomorrow."
And with that, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight follows Balto to get some sleep.
But as soon as they went to sleep, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight then had a dream about Balto chasing the raven, ice forming into a wall, and tumbled down into the icy ground and cracked it to reveal a freezing water. Then, the vision shows ice pieces forming into a path towards the forest and the mountains, along with the herd of caribou running in that direction. The ice path cleared away and the winter season turns into spring, then shows the rain and the flock of geese migrating and turning into winter season while the ice pieces forming a path again.
Aleu, Comet, and Daylight gasp as they woke up from the dream. They stood up and quietly ran while leaving Balto alone without waking him up. They ran into the edge of the sandy beach, noticed Nava at the edge of the cliff, looking at the aurora borealis as they ran to him and joins him, sitting next to him.
"A star dies, and another is born. All is a great dance of balance." Nava said with a chuckle. "You have questions."
"Why is Niju so against moving the clan?" Aleu asks. "What is he afraid of?"
"Niju is not a coward, he's not afraid to die, but he is afraid of change." Nava explains. "He would rather face starvation than leave the land he believe is ours."
The black clouds slowly began to form and the roar of thunder was heard as Nava begins to sing.
Nava (Sings):
This world through which we wander
Is wonderful and strange
The only truth we could really know
Is that everything will change
The rain starts to fall down to the sea and the ground, the wind blows the pine tree strongly.
Choir (Sings):
Like the rain that fills the ocean
Like the storm that shakes the pine
Nava and Choir (Sings):
We are all a part of the grand design
While at the mountains, the wolf pack were gathered around and their new leader, Niju, is informing his pack as the roaring thunder was heard.
Niju (Sings):
This has been our home forever!
This is where the clan belongs
Choir (Sings):
We were born beside this river
And we filled the nights with songs
Some of the wolves was howling, some were fighting over a bone.
Niju and Choir (Sings):
We must fight for what belongs to us
What is yours and what is mine
The wolf pack were busy fighting over a bone and each other, they were piling onto each other, and Niju is on top with a smirk.
Niju (Sings):
We are all masters of our own design
Back at the edge of the sea, Nava, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight watches the eagle soaring high into the sky while two orcas follow.
Choir (Sings):
The land no more belongs to us
Than the eagle owns the sky
Niju quietly walk towards the pack, biting one of the wolves in a tail, causing to yelp and ran. Niju then bites another wolf by the tail as it howls in pain.
Niju and Choir (Sings):
We must fight for our survival
If we don't we'll surely die
At the stormy night sky, the image of Nava opens his eyes.
Nava (Sings):
We are one with what surrounds us
Brothers to all we see
Choir (Sings):

Back at the mountains, the rain turns into snow and Niju lands on the ground, took the bone from Nuk with a pose and a smirk, while the wolves howls.
Niju (Sings):
We are wolves, we take what we need
Nava (Sings):
To stay alive and free
Choir (Sings):
The one thing we will surely learn
As we walk the path of time
No one can ever rise above
Aleu, Comet, and Daylight were looking up at the sky, feeling like they have to lead the wolf pack to their new home. Balto woke up and notice his daughter and the two foals aren't here anymore. The image of Niju appeared on the left and the image of Nava on the right, staring to each other.
Niju (Sings):
We are wolves, the master of...

While Aleu, Comet, and Daylight looks over at the horizon, the scene shows the totem pole.

Inside of the house, a husky named Jenna is worried for Balto and Aleu not returning home safely since the winter is near.

At the abandoned ship, Muk and Luk slumps down while Boris were waiting for them to return home.

At the Golden Oak Library, Mario and Spike were comforting Twilight Sparkle, who cries in her bed while looking at the picture of her kids. At the Crystal Empire, Shining Armor is in the same position, tried to comfort his wife. Princess Cadence looked at the picture of Comet and Daylight next to their mother, crying and hoping for them to return home.

Later that morning, the wolf pack are gathered at the mountains and Niju is at the center since he had an announcement to make.
"We strike the bear clan first!" Niju said as the wolf pack cheered, then started to head out when Balto stops in front of them.
"You're not striking anyone, Niju." Balto told him with a smirk.
"You're outnumbered, half-breed." Niju remarked with a snarl as the wolf pack started to prowl onto Balto, who walks back since he's clearly outnumbered and Nava, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight approached behind him.
"Papa/Balto!?" Aleu, Comet, and Daylight called him with worry.
"Nava is right, you guys, following the caribou is choosing life. I can't ignore my dreams any longer." Balto said, scowled at Niju.
"Your dreams will lead to our deaths!" Niju snarls.
"No! My friends and I have seen it too." Aleu said, then turns to the wolf pack. "We must follow the caribou across the water. Staying here would starvation for the clan!"
And fighting other clans for food would lead to deaths to the clans and upset the balance between the spirits and the circle of life!" Comet adds, leaving the wolf pack shocked of their comments.
"Hear that?!"
"They've seen it too!"
Niju is starting to grow angry, losing the leadership and the pack.
"Maybe Niju is the fool!"
"I've heard enough!" Niju snapped, then turns to Aleu, Daylight, and Comet. "You will not stop us, take them!"
And with that, the wolf pack are prowling while Balto, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight were backing away, about to get ready for a fight when a loud thundering sound was heard that was loud enough for them to stop and turning to look at the sea.
"Look!" Nava called them, turned to see the ice are forming a path. "Aniu told me, the time leave would come with the great breaking of the ice, but more than that, I do not know."
Balto, Comet, and Daylight took a glance at the ice, forming.
"The ice flows are lining up." Balto said. "It's like they're making a bridge..."
"A bridge to the caribou." Aleu, Comet, and Daylight finishes his sentence, earned their attention.
"The last winter, the caribou cross an ice bridge to land on the other side, and now the bridge is forming again." Aleu explains.
"And it'll be the chance for the wolves to go hunt the caribou." Comet adds which Balto widen his eyes in shock, realizing what his dream really means.
"Now I understand." Balto said, then turned to the wolf pack. "If we're to cross, we must go now!"
The wolf pack turned to each other, murmuring and then glances at the sea with the ice bridge.
"The old one spoke the truth about Balto, we must go."
The wolf pack then walks to Balto, who's leading them to the edge of the beach, even Yak, Nuk, and Surmac follows him since they're very eager to catch the caribou. Niju stops in front of them with enraged look on his face, couldn't believe they'd rather let Balto leading instead of him.
"And just where do you three think you are going?" Niju questions with a snarl.
"Um, I know I don't usually make...thinking habit, but Nava is right." Nuk said nervously, after shoving Surmac aside. "Besides, I'm hungry! C'mon, boys, let's go find some caribou!"
And with that, Yak, Nuk, and Surmac followed the rest of the pack and leaving Niju alone. Aleu was about to catch up, but glances at the two foals, who are feeling like they should be heading home because their family would be worried. Of course, she's started to get along with them because of what she learned. She thought about having them to come with her and the wolf pack, walking towards the two.
"Comet, Daylight, why don't you come with us?" Aleu offers, leaving the foals surprised. "You can join us to help the wolves and become friends with them."
Comet and Daylight are having a serious dilemma, turning their gaze to the elder wolf. He knows that if they join the pack, it will mean they'll leave their family and home behind, leaving them heartbreaking. It would also leave them sad for not joining with the wolf pack since they made friends with Aleu, Nava, and Balto.
"The decision is yours to make, young ones." Nava told them with firm as Comet and Daylight turned back to Aleu, filled up with tears in their eyes
"We're needed here." Daylight answered sadly which Aleu was surprised.
"Aleu, we have families and our home to go back." Comet adds.
Aleu can understand that they have families and a home, but she wanted to have them come with her and the wolf pack so they can join.
"I'm afraid the young ones are right, Aleu, they're too young to go on their own." Nava agrees, walking towards her. "Their journey is needed elsewhere."
Aleu doesn't want to admit the elder wolf is right since both Comet and Daylight had to return home because their journey has reached to an end. She then turns to the foals, who started to cry a little, as she walks close them and embracing them with a heartwarming hug. She then breaks a hug as she and Nava catches up to the pack while Comet and Daylight follows since she'll be needing the help. Balto and the wolf pack, along with Yak, Nuk, and Surmac are gathered at the edge of the sea next to the ice bridge.
"The ice path will only hold for a short time! Buddy up and stick with your partner in case either of you needs help! I'll lead!" Balto announces as the wolf pack form a group. "Mush!"
The wolf pack are confused of what that means, causing Comet and Daylight to hoof-palmed against their foreheads.
"I-I mean, uh, move out!" Balto ordered as he led the wolf pack to the ice bridge while they follow him, but Nava, Aleu, Comet, and Daylight were falling behind because the elder wolf can only lift himself up on the ice, catches up along with the others. Niju, however, is watching the wolf pack following Balto.
"NOOO! YOU ALL DIE!" Niju yelled, but Balto ignores them as they stop because of the tide.
Niju glanced his head at Niju, but the sound of ice cracking was heard as Aleu, Comet, and Daylight jumps over, causing the ice to break and leaving the elder wolf stranded while floating away.
"Nava!" Aleu, Comet, and Daylight shouts, glances over at the elder wolf with worry and the wolf pack looked at their leader, worried.
Aleu, Comet, and Daylight leaps out of the ice and into the ice where Nava is standing but splashed into the frozen water while struggling to hold it.
"Aleu! Nava! Comet! Daylight!" Balto shouted their names with worry.
Nava starts pulling both Comet and Daylight next to him, then tries to pull Aleu. Comet and Daylight uses their magic to levitate Aleu, placing her down next to them when the ice rotated and hits it, causing them to flinch and turned away from the icy water.
"Aleu, are you and your friends alright?!" Balto questions.
"Yes!" Aleu answered, turns to her father. "You go on with the rest of the pack! We'll get Nava!"
"And hurry! There's not much time!" Comet warned him, but the wolf pack wanted to help as they decided to continue on.
"Be careful." Balto said quietly, continued leading the wolf pack.
Then, Niju merged out of the sea and charges after Comet and Daylight with anger. He grabs hold of Comet and tosses him into the frozen sea, then did the same to Daylight.
"Comet! Daylight!" Aleu shouts with her eyes widen, but turns to Niju, who knocks Nava down.
"Your old ways will die along with you, old one." Niju mocks with a snarl, about to kill him.
"Stop!" Aleu shouts, earned his attention.
"You!" Niju snarls, slowly prowling onto her as she growls, ready to fight. "I will teach you to mind your place!"
"My place?!" Aleu snarls angrily as the fight rages on when Niju pounces onto her, then slams her into the ice. Comet and Daylight merged out of the frozen water, fired their magic at Niju and knocking him out.
"You!" Niju said angrily. "I should've finished you both!"
"Niju!" The voice of Balto shouts, earned their attention when he pulls himself out of the water and into the ice. "Leave them be!"
Niju widens his eyes in shock, but noticed the wolf pack were left stranded.
"Papa, you should be with the rest of the clan." Aleu told him. "You've got to lead them across!"
"I will, once I take care of him!" Balto said, about to fight against Niju when the sound of raven was heard, looking up at the sky as the black bird fly towards to the pack that were left stranded and without their leader as they howl, leaving them shocked.
"We must go." Nava suggests.
"No!" Niju snapped, ran in front of them while blocking their path. "No one's going anywhere!"
"But the clan-"
"They've chosen their fate!" Niju cuts her off. "Now, they will die!"
"How could you say that?!" Daylight snapped, finally had enough. "How could say that to your clan?! They only made the choice because Nava and Balto made the right call, while your choice is foolish!"
"I could care less about them anymore! They made their choice! Not some brats would understand!" Niju snarls. "Only the strong survives!"
"So that's what this is about? Survival of the fittest? Are you serious?!" Comet yells angrily. "There are bigger things happening right now! The clan needs a leader and they need someone to lead to the caribou! Are you really gonna deny them just for some pointless survival?!"
"I could care less about them, as long as I survive, they will all die!" Niju said as Comet and Daylight readied their horns when Balto stops them.
"Forget it, he already made his choice." Balto told them, then turns to Niju. "Nava, Aleu, Comet, Daylight, and I will hold Niju off while you get to the clan. They need someone to lead them."
"Balto, Nava is not as young as he used to be. He won't be able to make it in time." Daylight protests.
"And he won't be able to make the swim." Aleu agrees.
"They are right, only my spirit is strong now." Nava adds sadly as they turned to Niju.
"You wanted to be the leader, Niju, well now's your chance!" Balto said, leaving Niju shocked. "Go!"
Niju turns to the wolf pack with his jaws drop, then looks down at the sea to see the reflection of himself and back to the pack. Now, his true colors have revealed.
"I...I-I-I won't! I'll never leave our land, never!" Niju said, backs away with fear, but the ice crashes to another, causing it to break and the black wolf splashes down into the frozen sea.
Balto was about to save him, but Aleu pulls him back and saw Niju swam his way back to land and flees. They then ran back to the other side and seeing the wolf pack floating farther away.
"I can help swim over, Nava." Balto told him, but realizing the elder wolf won't make it. "No, you're right, you won't make it. I'll go."
"No! You don't belong here, papa. You belong home, with my mother." Aleu points out, then turns her head toward the wolf pack. "But I do belong here...it's my destiny."
Nava, Comet, and Daylight are now realizing who would be leading the pack to the caribou, which is none other than Aleu.
"Aniu told me it would be the one who is wolf, but does not know. I believe it was you, but I was wrong...it is your daughter." Nava told him, leaving Balto shocked as the elder wolf nods and walks away. He then walks next to his daughter.
"Are you sure?" Balto asks, turns to her sadly as she nods. "It's just...so hard to let my baby go."
"Papa, I'm not your...okay, I'll always be your baby." Aleu said with a smile, nuzzles to her father in comfort and then turns her head to Comet and Daylight. "Comet, Daylight, I know we only met in a short time, but...so, I'll always be there for you. And you're always welcome among the pack."
Comet and Daylight smiled in tears, hugging Aleu. She then breaks the hug.
"Goodbye." Aleu said, then turns her head to her father. "And papa, tell mom...I finally found a home."
And with that, Aleu splashes into the sea, swimming her way to the pack. Balto watches his daughter with a smile, remembering the times that he and Jenna raised Aleu and how much she grows. But no matter how much she grows, she will always be his daughter. Aleu made it to the pack, tries to pull herself when Nuk and Yak helped her. She then turns to her father and the two foals as she let out a howl.
"Goodbye, daughter." Balto said as the wolf pack joins her, delivering a farewell howl while flowing away and out of sight.
Soon as Balto, Comet, and Daylight walk towards the land, they ran to Nava which earned his attention.
"She will be a great leader." Nava told them. "And now it is time for you three to go home."
"What will you do now, Nava?" Comet questions.
"I will find Niju. We are still a clan and will not be whole without each other." Nava replied. "Goodbye."
And with that, Nava leaves to find Niju.
"Well, I guess it's time for us to go." Comet said as he and Daylight turned to Balto. "Balto, thanks for..."
"It's no problem, but I should be thanking you for helping me find my daughter." Balto told him with a smile. "You two take care of yourself."
"We will." Daylight nods as she and Comet left to head on home.
Few minutes later, both Comet and Daylight decided to make camp after a long journey by gathering wood for the fire to get warm and gathering berries to eat. They're now sleeping next to the firewood, but shivering when the breeze blew their fur. But then, the two tribal ponies appeared at campsite when they saw two foals trying to stay warm.
"Comet, Daylight." Wild Heart said quietly.
"We should bring them to the village." The voice of Chieftess Tanana suggests. "Winter is coming soon."
Few days later, both Comet and Daylight stirred in their sleep, but confused and wondering where they are. They remembered about the trials, meeting Balto, Aleu, Nava, Niju, and the wolf pack, and helping the wolves leading the path to the caribou. But they don't remember being inside of the tent. Wild Heart appeared inside which it got their attention.
"So, you finally awake. You've been sleeping for 4 days." Wild Heart informed them.
"That long?!" Daylight exclaims.
"Yes. I know you have questions, but it'll come later. Chieftess Tanana is expecting you both." Wild Heart said, gestures them to follow as they did, leading them to Chieftess Tanana, who's inside of the tent while waiting for the two foals.
Chief Tanana is an elder pony with bronze fur with long white mane and tail, tied in braid, and black eyes. She wore a fur pelt and red paint around her cheeks.
"So, you two must be Comet Stardust and Daylight Savings?" Chieftess Tanana asks with a kind smile, earned a nod from them. "Wild Heart told me all about you two, and we were watching you help the wolf pack leading them to the caribou."
It got them shocked.
"The spirits have told us of your journey, and they were pleased to inform you that the wolf pack made it safely, so they will hunt the caribou." Chieftess Tanana said.
"But, Chieftess, how did we end up here?" Daylight asks. "We remembered making camp in the forest and trying to stay warm."
"Well, the reason is because we brought you here. Winter is coming, and I'm afraid you won't be able to get home at this weather." Chieftess Tanana explains which Comet and Daylight felt sad. "But don't lose heart, little ones, the spirits will inform them of your stay in this village."
Comet and Daylight felt relieved to hear that, but felt worried about their family. Chieftess Tanana can tell they wanted to go home, but making their journey in the middle of winter isn't a good idea.
"But for now, I would like to welcome you both to our village." Chieftess Tanana said as Comet and Daylight smiled.
