Chapter 4 Loki Family
Disclaimer: I do not own God Eater or Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatte Iru Darouka / Danmachi
Note: Thank you very much for the comments I've received so far, some have even given me ideas for future chapters. But I want to make one thing clear, this fanfic won't have as much focus as my other two, because I'm only planning to have three for now. Until I finish at least one of my fanfics, I won't be releasing any new ones.
One more thing, I'm using AI to help me with the handwriting of this fic, and I'm using an editor to turn this fic into audio, so I can listen to it and fix the wrong parts before posting the chapter. But finally, let's get to reading.
Edit: Thanks to Yo'Student'Here and For'Sleep 3º , for now I think I've fixed the typos in "He, she, his, hers." This is a recurring problem in my Fic. Spending too much time on the computer writing is bad for me.
[Tower of Babel]
Freya continued to observe the two boys, putting all her focus on her magic mirror to catch every possible detail.
"That's really intriguing. To think that your strange weapon would have powers like that." Freya watched the two boys in the dungeon as she remembered the thorn Penny's God Arc had made to prevent Hestia from touching it. "It seems that not even the gods can touch your mysterious weapon. Show me more, I want to know more about you, dear Penny."
Freya watched Penny and Bell fight the monsters in the dungeon. With Penny having little or no difficulty, while Bell seemed to be trying very hard. As the Goddess watched the two, she remembered the events of that morning at the Hostess of Fertility.
"Did he really resist my charm?" Freya murmured thoughtfully. "Even when I'm disguised as Syr, most men can't resist my smile, but..." Freya focuses her gaze on Penny. "You haven't shown a hint of weakness. What's so special about you, Penny?"
Freya continues to watch the two, she sees a herd of Lizards approaching them. Sighing, she settles down on her throne. "Looks like you two are in trouble." She looks dejected, but in one swift movement, Penny brings her two swords together, making her God Arc switch to Pistol mode. "What!?" Freya almost jumps off her throne at the sight of God Arc's mode change. But she doesn't have time to react before Penny starts firing white bullets at the Lizards, killing them with tremendous ease. "That... you never cease to amaze me, Penny!" Freya says excitedly with a smile on her face.
After a few minutes watching Bell and Penny fight, she settles back into her throne, already satisfied with her findings, she smiles as she rests her head on one of her hands. "In all my years in the underworld, I've never seen a weapon like yours, Penny. I'm looking forward to finding out more about you." Freya speaks with a wry smile, before she sees Penny raise her right arm and make a head of something that looks like a monster appear and devour the Lizard. Startled, Freya loses her balance and falls off her throne. Before she can get up, she looks into the mirror with an incredulous expression on her face. "WHAT!?" Freya screams in total disbelief and extreme surprise, she looks at the mirror with shock still on her face. She sees the monster being sucked back into the sword, putting her hand to her forehead she sighs. "Okay... enough of that. I'm going to take a shower." Freya gets up while trying to avoid getting a tremendous headache. She walks over as she turns off the mirror and starts walking out of her room.
[Guild.]
EIna waves as she says goodbye to Bell and Penny. The boys walk past the guild door and close it, and as the room falls silent, she lets out a soft sigh before screams snap her out of her thoughts.
"What was that?!" The receptionist next to Eina shouts in disbelief. "What was that thing?! How did he do that?! What was that gun?!" The receptionist shouts, making Eina clearly uncomfortable.
"Look, it's none of our business to snoop around adventurers' weapons." Eina says, walking back to her desk.
"Snooping?! He just turned two swords into that giant thing in seconds! And you're just not calling?!" The receptionist asks in surprise. "And what are those things in his head!? How can he do that!?" The receptionist
Eina frowns, looks around and sees the adventurers whispering amongst themselves. She sighs and walks over to the receptionist, giving the girl a nudge on the forehead and looking at her with a frown.
"I think you'd better keep quiet. As I said, it's not our job to pry into the lives of adventurers." Eina scolds the receptionist as she looks at Eina with tears welling up in her eyes. Eina looks at the door of the guild with a worried look on her face and sighs. "Don't screw up... please."
[On the street.]
Bell and Penny are walking through the streets of Orario, with Bell looking at the large bag of Vales in his hands. He turns to Penny and gives her a huge smile.
"20,000 vouchers!" Bell gives another big smile. "I managed to pay off my guild debt and still have that much left over!" Bell holds up the bag of vouchers as he admires the huge amount of money in his hands.
"Even though you worked so hard, you didn't earn many vouchers, did you?" Penny asks as she looks around. He notices some stares and whispers from people. He realizes that most of the whispers are about his God Arc, which is in Pistol mode on his back.
"What kind of weapon is that?"
"I've never seen anything like it."
"Could it be an heirloom?"
"And what are those clothes?"
"Why does he wear ribbons on his body?"
"Could that gun be a relic? It could be worth a lot."
"Huf! He's just a beginner, he certainly doesn't have the skills to use that weapon."
Penny listens to every whisper, thanks to his senses enhanced by the Oracle Cells, he walks over to Bell, and taps him on the back.
"Bell, do you mind if I ask you a question?" Penny gives a little smile, wanting to get off those streets as quickly as possible. Bell nods in response. "Do you know where we can buy monster items and a flute?"
"Oh, yes, I know a place, but..." Bell looks at Penny with a little confusion on his face. "Why do you want a flute?" Bell asks curiously.
"Why do I want a flute?..." Penny puts her hand to her chin thoughtfully. "To play the flute, isn't that obvious!" Penny asks, laughing a little. "Come on! Let's get out of here soon."
Penny rests her arm on Bell's shoulder as the two walk through the streets, ignoring the people around them. After some time walking, Bell and Penny enter a store that looks... relatively old. relatively old. The two enter the store and walk around the place.
"There's quite a lot... There's quite a bit of dust in here, isn't there?" Penny waves his hand in front of his nose, even though he doesn't feel affected by the dust, it's more custom than necessity. "Do you sell monster items here?"
"Yes, I know the people who work here!" Bell says excitedly. He goes up to the counter and rings the bell, making a clanging noise, and they hear footsteps approaching.
"Yes, what can I do for you?! Oh, Bell! I'm so glad you're back!" A girl with dog ears and a tail, she looks at Bell and gives him a smile, before she sees Penny standing next to him. "E... And who are you?"
"Penny, you can call me Penny." Penny extends her hand to greet the girl. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss..."
"Oh, yeah... my name is Naaza, Naaza Erisuis!" Naaza shakes Penny's hand as she blushes a little, she looks away to avoid looking into his... blue... eyes. "Oh, forgive me for asking, but are you related to Bell?" Naaza looks at Penny with a curious look on his face.
"Oh, well..." Penny looks at Bell before giving a little smile. "Yes, we're part of the same family." Penny smiles at Naaza. "And you would own this store?"
"Oh, yeah, well..." Naaza pulls herself together. "Well, actually, the owner is my God the Lord-" Naaza tries to say, but is interrupted by a male voice behind her.
"Naaza, do we have any new customers?" A man with long blue hair approaches the girl while carrying a box. "Oh, Bell! Did you come to buy potions or..." The man realizes that there are two Bells in the room. A little confused, he manages to get a few sentences out. "What... what's that..."
"In short, my name is Bell Pennywort, but you can call me Penny. I'm the newest member of the Hestia Family." Penny waves her hand to get the man's attention. "You must be the God of this family, could I have your name?"
"Oh, rruf! Of course!" The man pulls himself together. "My name is Miach, I am the God of the Miach Family." Miach extends his hand to Penny, and the boy shakes it in response to greet the God.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Miach!" Penny smiles as she greets the God. Miach is surprised to see the same smile that Bell always gives him, and with a slight smile, Miach greets Penny back. "Well, if you don't mind, could I do some shopping in that store?"
"Oh, of course! Don't worry, whatever you need we'll do our best to-" Miach tries to speak, but Naaza quickly pushes him away and takes the lead to speak to Penny.
"Yes! Yes, of course!" Naaza speaks quickly as he puts his face close to Penny's. Quickly seeing the distance between the two of them, she turns away embarrassed, and tries to keep her composure. "Well... what exactly do you need?" Naaza looks away.
"Well..." Penny scratches the back of her head as she thinks about what to buy. "Well, I'd like to buy some potions and some monster items, of course, if there are any for sale." Penny looks at Naaza, seeing the girl finally calm down, she looks at the boy.
"Well, we have a few potions, but what monster items do you want, exactly?" Naaza asks, trying to stay focused.
"Well..." Penny puts her hand to her chin thoughtfully. "I think fire-controlling monster items, do you have any?" Penny asks, looking around he sees some jars and several boxes on the shelves. "And some glass jars, if possible?"
"Well..." Miach stands up and wipes the dust off his body. "Well, about the potions and vials you can take for whatever you want to do."
"Mr. Miach!" Naaza looks at his God with irritation in his tone.
"Look, I'm not taking anything without paying." Penny tells them both. "From the state of this store, you don't sell much, do you?" Penny looks at them both. With Naaza giving her a slightly downcast look. "Look, I know you want to be kind, but I'm not the type to accept kindness."
"Huhu... you're just like Bell." Naaza laughs as he looks at Penny. She gives a slight smile, looking into the boy's navy blue eyes. "Well, the items you need, we only have a few Hellhound Fangs, but they're a bit expensive." Naaza looks at Penny with a slight expectation.
"And how much will it cost?" Penny asks bluntly.
"About three thousand Vales." Naaza says as she stares at Penny.
"Naaza, what are you saying?!" Miach asks in surprise. "We can't sell it for such a high price! Even more so to Hestia's children-" Before Miach can finish his sentence, Penny places a bag full of Vales on the counter.
"Here's 5 Mill Vales, I want four Hellhound Fangs, some tempered glass vials and two mind potions." Penny speaks bluntly. Miach and Naaza are surprised by Penny's request, but before they can react, the boy says something else: "Oh, would you happen to have a flute?"
[...]
"Thank you for your purchase, and come back whenever you need to!" Naaza waves goodbye to them both. Penny and Bell wave back as they walk down the street. Naaza looks at them both and breathes a sigh of relief.
"You liked him, didn't you?" Miach asks, approaching the dog girl.
"W-what?! What are you implying, Mr. Miach?!" Naaza blurts out while her face is clearly flushed.
"You know you can't lie to me, don't you?" Miach laughs lightly and puts his hand on the girl's shoulder to comfort her. "You liked Bell before, but I noticed that you looked at Penny differently." Miach smiles again.
"It's just..." Naaza lowers her head thoughtfully. "It's just that he gave me a feeling of... maturity." Naaza says as she remembers their conversation a few minutes ago. "I really think Bell is cute, but..." Naaza looks in the direction the boys have gone. "He gives me a different feeling... it's like he's the same as Bell, but totally different."
"Oh, I get it!" Miach puts his hand to his chin, looking very proud. "Apparently my daughter is in love with Bell's twin brother!" Miach laughs comically while Naaza blushes even more.
"N-no, it's not like that!" Naaza shouts ashamed and extremely embarrassed by her God's statement.
"As I said before! There's no point in lying to me!" Miach continues to mock Naaza, and the girl, in total shame, punches her God in the stomach. Miach lies on the ground, laughing in pain while Naaza tries to hide her frustration and embarrassment by covering her face with her hands.
Far away. Bell and Penny walked down the street while Bell looked at the things Penny had bought.
"Look, I can understand the potions, but why did you buy the glass vials, the monster items and the flute?" Bell asks as he walks with Penny.
"Well, I wanted to do some tests on my Weaponsmithing skills." Penny says proudly as she walks with Bell. "I want to test a few things to see if I can create a fireball."
"Fire... bullet?" Bell looks at Penny with confusion on his face.
"Look, remember when I used my God Arc to shoot that white beam of light at those monsters in the dungeon?" Penny asks and Bell nods. "Well, that was a neutral bullet, so it didn't have any Elemental effect." Penny explains to Bell.
"So... you bought those items from monsters to try and create a new fire element bullet?" Bell asks, understanding most of the explanation.
"Yes, and that's why I bought these vials and the mind potions!" Penny lifts the bag with her purchases. "I want to see if I can create a fire bullet, so it makes our journey to the Dungeon easier."
"Ohh..." Bell murmurs, impressed by Penny's thought. "But what about the flute? Why do you need it?" Bell asks curiously as he looks at the flute in Penny's hand.
"Oh, this?" Penny lifts the flute to his mouth and blows on it, making a faint musical sound. "I only bought it to play in my spare time!"
"I see." Bell said, understanding the occasion. "Well, I've never learned to play an instrument, you know."
"You want me to teach you? I can play the flute and the violin." Penny says as she walks with Bell.
Bell stops walking for a moment. "Wait... violin?!" Bell asks in surprise and total shock.
[...]
(Night.)
(Hostess of Fertility)
After some more time wandering the streets of Orario, night falls and Bell and Penny enter the Hostess of Fertility. With Bell greeting the workers and Penny just observing her surroundings.
"Hello! Miss Mia!" Bell greets the huge woman who is serving the customers.
"Oh, you've really come!" Mia says excitedly as she looks at the two of them. "Without wasting time, sit down at that table and place your orders." Mia indicates a table.
"O-ok!" Bell says nervously as she walks over to the table. With the two of them seated at their table, they begin to think about what they can order. "What are you going to order?"
"I don't know, although I'd quite like to have pizza." Penny says as she looks at the menu. He notices the silence, glancing at Bell, Penny blinks a few times. "What?"
"Pizza? O... what's that Pizza?" Bell asks, curious about the Pizza Penny mentioned.
"Oh... there's no Pizza around here?" Penny asks, while Bell nods negatively. "Okay... I'll make one later and let you try it." Penny goes back to choosing what to eat.
"So niaw have you decided what you want to eat niaw?!" Anya approaches them both, before noticing the two people in front of her. "Oh, it's you..." Anya chokes nervously.
"Oh, hi Anya!" Bell says as he watches the girl. "I'd like fried fish and chips, please." Bell says with a slight smile on her face.
"Well..." Penny looks at the menu, before he looks away and Anya feels a slight shiver run through her body. "Anything meaty. Preferably a lot of meat."
"Oh, right niaw!" Anya says nervously before quickly leaving. She walks through the tavern while taking orders from other customers.
"Ahh... I just hope nothing bad happens." Penny puts her hand on his back, picking up his God Arc as he places it against a wall. "As easy as it was, I'm still tired of going into the dungeon."
"I feel that way too, but..." Bell looks at the God Arc leaning against the wall in Pistol mode. "Don't you think..." Bell looks around and notices a few stares from customers. "Don't you think it might be dangerous to leave your God Arc here with us? Wouldn't it be better to leave her at home?"
"And what might happen?" Penny shrugged, put the bag on the table and picked up the flute he had recently bought. "If anyone tries to steal it, they'll get hurt." Penny swings his flute through his fingers. Making the flute twirl slightly between his fingers.
"Still..." Bell says worriedly. "People could get hurt trying to steal your God Arc."
"If they do, it'll be their fault, and their fault alone." Penny says looking very tired. "Honestly, I don't want that to happen, but if they try, let them deal with the consequences." He puts the flute back in the bag and stares at Bell as he thinks of something. "Bell..."
"What is it?" Bell asks, curious at the look on Penny's face.
"What-" Before Penny can say anything, a huge plate of pasta with tomato sauce and peppers appears in front of Bell.
"You better eat a lot!" Mia puts down the huge plate of pasta with tomato sauce and peppers.
"M-but I didn't ask for this!" Bell says nervously, Mia shrugs her shoulders as she walks off to serve another customer. "Oh, come on..." Bell says sadly.
"Yeah... the place is pretty full..." Penny looks around, seeing people eating and enjoying themselves. "And you, are you going to be able to eat all this?" Penny asks as she looks at the huge plate of noodles in front of Bell.
"Maybe..." Bell says looking defeated, he picks up a fork and starts eating the noodles.
"But, Bell." Penny says as Mia places a plate with a whole roast chicken in front of him. "Thank you, Miss Mia!" Penny says and Mia waves to him. "As I was saying... Bell, why did you decide to come to Orario?" Penny picks up one of the chicken thighs and takes a bite.
"What? What do you mean?" Bell asks in surprise as his mouth is smeared with tomato sauce.
"About why you came to Orario, because you don't look like you're from the city." Penny snorts a little as she continues eating.
"Ah, well..." Bell looks away, embarrassed that he doesn't want to talk about why. "Well, I don't know if I should tell you.
"Come on. I told you about my life, tell me about yours!" Penny said excitedly as he watched the boy continue eating.
"Ahhh... Okay, I'll tell you." Bell sighs, wipes his mouth with a napkin and looks at Penny. "Well, I lived in the mountains with my grandfather and..." Bell tries to speak, but a commotion interrupts him.
With the people in the tavern talking and whispering about the people who had just come in, with a group of people, a red-haired woman wearing clothes... Vulgar, to say the least. A blonde girl with a closed expression, a werewolf, a dwarf, a child, two twins. This is the Loki family, one of the strongest families in Orario. In a few moments, they sit down at their table and start celebrating. Making noises, rioting and all sorts of other nonsense.
Bell and Penny observe the scene, with Bell focusing on one of the people at the table, while Penny focuses on the redhead, who seems relaxed and trying to rope in the blonde girl.
"Haha! I wanted to see Tomato face that Minotaur! Or rather, I wish I'd seen him run away like a scared puppy! I wish I'd been there that day!" Bete laughs as she takes a big gulp of beer.
"Don't forget that it was our fault that the Minotaur escaped from the upper floors." Finn says as he eats his food.
"Still, at least no one got hurt... I guess." Tiona speaks with her hand on her chin thoughtfully. She shrugs and picks up her food.
"Well, I admit, we ended up going off course and they fled to the lower floors. At least we solved that problem." Gareth says as he takes a big drink of beer.
"Still..." Aiz thinks. "I couldn't bring myself to apologize for putting you in danger in the dungeon." Aiz looks down at her plate of food, with a vacant stare, because no one can tell what she's thinking.
"Oh, come on, Aiz!" Loki approaches from behind the girl. "If he was in the wrong place at the wrong time it was his fault, there's nothing to apologize for." Loki speaks in a comical tone, as she tries to bring her hand up to grab Aiz's ass, but gets hit in the face.
"You better stop that." Aiz says as she throws a glass in Loki's face.
"Ouch! You didn't have to do that!" Loki whimpers as he puts his hand to his face to try to ease the pain.
"Bell... who are these bunch of lunatics?" A male voice nearby speaks, drawing the attention of the Loki family and everyone else in the tavern. The Loki family look in the direction of the voice and see a white-haired, blue-eyed boy wearing strange clothes and an even stranger weapon standing near him. "I guess I shouldn't have said that..." The boy mutters as he sees the looks on people's faces.
"Oh my God..." Mia slaps herself in the face at the extreme situation Penny has just put herself in. She looks at the Loki family and tries to think of something that could get the two boys out of this situation.
"Penny... what have you just put yourself in..." Syr mutters as she hides in the kitchen part, she glances at the tavern. "But... I confess I'm quite curious!" Syr thinks as she gives a slight smile.
"Oh, brat." Bete growls as she gets up from the table. "What did you say?" Bete gets up from her chair and faces Penny.
"That one's dead." Tione says as she eats.
"You're right, but shouldn't we stop him?" Tiona asks her sister.
"No." Loki says firmly as he sits down at the table and stares at the two boys. Especially the boy with the strange clothes and their bracelets, along with his strange weapon. "I want to see how this plays out."
"Penny, what have you done!?" Bell whispers, extremely nervous and terrified. "Apologize fast!" Bell mutters, even more frightened.
"I can apologize, but who's-" Penny looks at Bell, before heavy footsteps sound near him. Penny looks forward and sees Bete standing in front of him with a look of superiority.
"What did you say before?" Bete, already looking a little drunk, asks with slightly disguised irritation.
"Ah, look, man. Sorry if I offended you, but I'm still new to Orario e-" Before Penny can finish, he's pulled up by his cape and lifted out of his chair.
"Speak again, here, in front of me. I dare you." Bete snarls as she glares at Penny with ferocity.
"He's dead."
"Poor new boy."
"Will he live?"
"Although... that strange weapon looks quite interesting."
"We'll get it when he's dead."
Bete continued to stare at Penny while whispers and mutterings rang through the tavern. Penny stared into Bete's eyes, with a strong ferocity in her eyes. Penny looked into Bete's eyes and became cautious. The werewolf seemed to be much more irritated by the alcohol in his system.
"Look, man. I'm really sorry for what I said, but I don't know exactly who you are. I'm sorry if-" Penny tries to speak, but Bete shakes him back and forth.
"You think you're superior? You worthless weakling!" Bete snarls as she puts Penny's face close to his, with an even fiercer look on her face. "Do you want me to teach you a lesson? You weakling!"
"Dude, it doesn't have to come to this. We can-" Penny raises his hands to calm the situation, but he notices that Bete has put her fist back, and with a quick movement he prepares to punch Penny in the head.
[...]
With a tremendous noise of metal being struck, the whole tavern falls silent. With everyone there in silence and shock at what has happened, they open their eyes wide at what has happened. With Bete staggering as she stumbles and falls to the ground.
Penny, who had his arm raised and a small spot of blood on his bracelet, faced Bete on the floor. Not everyone could see, but in one swift movement, Penny dodged Bete's punch and slammed his bracelet into the werewolf's nose.
"How did he..." Tiona muttered in surprise as she stared at Bete on the ground.
"He was... so fast..." Tione muttered in surprise, also seeing Bete on the ground.
"How did he do that?" Finn said impressed.
"He... is fast." Aiz said, looking at Penny curiously.
"Is he a level 4 adventurer or something?" Gareth says impressed while scratching his beard.
"Hmmm..." Loki mutters suspiciously as he focuses his gaze on the boy.
"Penny, what have you done!?" Bell approaches Penny with horror on his face. "You attacked a member of the Loki family!"
"Calm down! I didn't attack, I just had a reflex reaction." Penny tries to defend herself against Bell's statement. "Look, man. We can talk and-" Penny tries to explain, but he notices Bete preparing to advance on him.
"Penny, apologize before-" Bell tries to speak, but Penny kicks him to push him away.
Penny, in one swift movement, picks up the chair behind him and throws it in front of him. Bete, wasting no time, lunges at Penny and he breaks the chair without any effort. Trying to use his claws to cut Penny, he aims for his face. Penny quickly bends her back to avoid the attack.
Placing her right hand on the floor, Penny pushes herself to the side. He manages to distance himself from Bete. Bete looks at Penny and growls like a ferocious wolf. Penny looks at Bete with full attention to what he can do.
"My God... fighting someone drunk is so much worse!" Penny screams in his mind, looking around him, he tries to find some plausible solution to cling to.
Bete, still full of rage, advances against Penny, preparing a kick, he hits Penny, who didn't have time to dodge. He is pushed back, but he quickly gets back on his feet.
Seeing the werewolf advancing against him again, Penny leaps to the side, managing to dodge another of Bete's punches. Continuing to dodge and walk backwards, he continues to walk backwards and dodge Bete's punches. Seeing that he is approaching the table where the Loki family is, he tries to think of a plan.
Jumping up, Penny climbs on top of the table where the Loki family are, with Bete also climbing on top. Bete starts throwing punch after punch in Penny's direction, while Penny dodges each punch using his palms to deflect the more dangerous punches. With the two of them moving around the table as Bete throws several punches, Penny deflects each of the werewolf's punches.
With Penny seeing an opportunity, he stomps down on the table, sending a plate of rice and mashed potatoes flying. Penny, wasting no time, picks up the plate. Dodging another punch from Bete, he slaps Bete in the face. The werewolf's face is filled with rice and mashed potatoes. The werewolf gets off balance and ends up showing his back to Penny.
Leaping towards Bete, Penny spreads her legs and takes off her cape. Holding on to his cape with both hands, he grabs hold of Bete. He uses his legs to pin down Bete's arms, he uses the cape to cover Bete's head and pin him down.
With Penny treating Bete like a horse, most of the tavern is silent as they watch Penny treat Bete like a rabid horse. Penny, still trying to contain the rabid werewolf, jumps backwards and lets Bete fall to the floor as he stands on the table.
Bete looks at Penny and gives an even angrier growl as her face is smeared with rice and mashed potatoes. Penny glares back at Bete and takes a swing at her cape to wipe off the rice and mash. Bete tries to advance again, but a frank voice makes everyone in the tavern stop.
"Enough of that!" Mia slams her fist down on the counter. She punches so hard that the counter is split down the middle. "Enough of this childish, pointless bickering. If you keep destroying my tavern, I'll kill you both."
Bete and Penny feel a chill when they hear Mia's words. Penny quickly gets down from the table and cleans her cloak. Putting it back around his neck, he zippers it up and bows in apology to Mia.
"I'm really sorry, Miss Mia. I'm sorry for the destruction that happened here. I promise I'll pay for the things destroyed and clean everything up." Penny apologizes while remaining bowed in apology to Mia.
"Ruf!... I don't need that." Bete turns away as she shrugs her shoulders. But still very annoyed by the mash and rice on her face.
"Bete, you should apologize." Finn gets out of his chair and walks over to the werewolf.
"I don't need that. That bastard provoked me and even got his food all over me." Bete growls, still angry.
"That's beside the point. You got involved in this fight and you're just as guilty as he is." Finn walks up to Bete and looks him in the eye, even though he's smaller than Bete, Finn still puts order in the werewolf. "Now, go and apologize."
"Grrr..." Bete growls angrily. He turns around and reluctantly apologizes. "Sorry about that..." Even if the apology was weak.
"Come on, Finn! There's no need for all this fuss!" Loki approaches with an amused laugh. "Hey, Mia. Don't worry about paying, I'll cover everything." Loki smiles as he looks at the woman.
"Ahh..." Mia sighs. "Still. You two will stay and clean up the place. Alone." Mia looks at them both with a menacing gaze. With Bete and Penny feeling a slight chill run down their spines.
[...]
After a few hours, most of the customers have left, leaving only Bell, Penny, Bete, Loki, Aiz, Ryuu, Syr and Mia in the tavern. With Penny and Bete using a broom to clean up the pieces of wood scattered around the place.
"Look, I can really help if you guys want." Bell suggests while looking at Penny.
"It's okay, you had nothing to do with it, Bell. It's my fault and that werewolf over there." Penny points at Bete as he gives an annoyed snort.
"Hoho, I still can't believe he actually managed to face Bete." Loki laughs debauchedly as he takes a drink of beer. "What about you, Aiz?"
"Hmm..." Aiz keeps his gaze closed, but the corner of his eye focuses on a boy with white hair and red eyes. "Yeah... I guess so." Aiz focuses her gaze on Penny, curious about the boy's strength and his strange weapon.
"Hey, kid!" Loki speaks up. "You with the cape." Loki says and Penny turns her head and looks at the Goddess. "What family are you from?"
"Hmm..." Penny looks at Loki as she tries to think of an answer. "I come from a relatively young family." Penny shrugs as she continues mopping the floor.
"New is it?" Loki gets up from his chair and walks over to the boy. "So tell me, how are you so strong as a novice? How long have you been an adventurer?" Loki brings his face close to the boy's to try to persuade him.
"You don't need to know." Penny grabs Loki's face and pulls him a little further away. He walks over to a shovel and starts putting pieces of wood on it.
"What is it? Say!" Loki says, whimpering a little. "Aiz, help me out here!" Loki turns to his daughter.
"How strong are you?" Aiz says as she focuses her gaze on Penny.
"What? Am I going to have to write a book now?" Penny says a little annoyed. "Oh my God!" Penny says in frustration as the two girls continue to pester him.
"Your brother seems quite... polite." Ryuu approaches Bell.
"É... let's just say we're pretty similar... as far as that goes." Bell looks away as Ryuu approaches him.
"Do you mind if I ask?" Ryu looks at Bell. "Why does he wear those strange bracelets?"
"Oh, the bracelets?" Bell says in surprise. He thinks of a way to explain without letting important information leak out. "Well, they're glued to his wrists. So it's practically impossible for him to take them off."
"Glued on?" Ryuu raises a puzzled eyebrow.
"And who glued the bracelets to his wrists?" Syr asks as he approaches, intruding on the conversation.
"AH, well!" Bell is even more embarrassed by the two girls near him. "I don't really know, he didn't tell me that part."
"You don't know? But aren't you brothers?" Syr asks confused.
"Well, yes. We... we're brothers. But he didn't explain to me how he got those bracelets." Bell shrugs as she looks away.
"Hmmm." Ryuu looks a little suspicious, but accepts the answer.
"I must say. Your brother is very good at hand-to-hand combat." Mia says, slapping Bell on the back. "And that strange weapon of his, it's amazing how he has three strange weapons that I've never seen in my life."
"É... really." Bell says as he looks worriedly at Penny. Seeing Aiz and Loki cornering him with lots and lots of questions.
[...]
After a few more hours cleaning up the place, Bell and Penny leave, with a few problems, but Mia has left them free of any financial problems. Penny didn't know the city or the customs here. (It was more Bete's fault than his, but that's okay.) The two continue walking towards the abandoned church, with the two of them talking about the events of a few hours ago.
"I'm glad Miss Mia let us leave without too much trouble." Bell sighs with relief.
"Well, she didn't let us off the hook completely. Although you didn't do anything to take any of the blame." Penny says as she walks.
"Oh, don't worry!" Bell waves her arms dismissively. "I really felt bad about your disagreement with the Loki family member." Bell scratches the back of his head as he laughs lightly.
"Yeah... but I think I'll reward Miss Mia for destroying the tavern." Penny gets pensive. "Could she like pizza?"
"You still haven't explained to me what this Pizza thing is." Bell says, curious about this Pizza.
"Well..." Penny looks thoughtful and a little cheerful. "Well, Pizza is made using bread dough in a slice format that we put..."
[...]
After a few minutes explaining to Bell what a pizza is and how it's made, the two finally arrive at the abandoned church. Descending the stairs, they see their Goddess sitting on the bed and staring at some papers.
"Oh, you've arrived!" Hestia jumps out of bed and throws herself at the two of them, giving them a big, tight hug. "How are my two Bells? Were you hurt or did you have difficulties in the dungeon?"
"No, Goddess. We did very well!" Bell says, a little embarrassed by the hug.
"We went there and got a lot of Vales." Penny points to the bag around Bell's waist. "At the end of the day we had about 9,000 Vales left over."
"Left over? How many Vales did you get?" Hestia asks in surprise.
"Well, we got just over 25,000 Vales. But after we paid off my debt to the guild and Penny bought some items and then we ate a few things before heading back, we had 9,000 Vales left over." Bell explains to his Goddess.
"Oh really?" Hestia releases them both from the embrace. "And what did you buy and eat to leave only 9,000 Vales?" Hestia looks curiously at the two Bells in front of her.
"Well, I wanted to do some tests. So I bought some monster items to test my alchemy skills!" Penny scoffs at the last sentence.
"But you look pretty dirty. What happened?" Hestia asks suspiciously, especially given Penny's cape.
"Oh, Penny ended up having a few disagreements with a member of the Loki family, but that's all over now-" Bell tries to explain, but Hestia pulls her face close to hers in one swift movement.
"THE LOKI FAMILY!?" Hestia screams in total shock and despair. She turns to Penny and shouts again. "YOU FOUGHT WITH A MEMBER OF THE LOKI FAMILY?!" Hestia screams even louder, with horror on her face. Her scream was so loud that if they had neighbors, they would surely break into the house to shut the Goddess up.
"Yes. I ended up in a fight with a werewolf from the Loki family, but I didn't," Penny rubs his ear as he tries to explain himself, but Hestia runs up to him and pulls his face down. With her starting to inspect his body.
"Oh my God! Did you fight with Bete?! Did he hurt you? Were you hurt? Did you break an arm, a leg, a finger, a rib!" Hestia checked every corner of Penny's body, trying to find any injuries that Bete had inflicted on her son.
"Goddess Hestia, calm down." Penny holds the Goddess's hands gently. "I wasn't hurt, and he wasn't hurt in the fight. The tavern owner managed to break up the fight before it got any worse." Penny explains to the Goddess.
"But, but, but..." Hestia tries to say something, with her feeling extremely worried, even though her son is here, standing healthy in front of her.
"Believe me, Goddess Hestia. I've been through a lot worse than a silly bar fight." Penny smiles, he strokes the Goddess's hair and turns away. "I'm going to take a shower. Bell, can you explain the rest to her?" Penny picks up his God Arc and sets it aside on a wall. He walks to the bathroom while Bell and Hestia stare at him.
"He... he wasn't really hurt... was he?" Hestia turns to Bell, waiting for her son's answer.
"No, everything turned out fine. The owner of the tavern didn't punish us and the Loki family didn't take much notice of the fight." Bell explains to the Goddess.
"Oh my God!" Hestia put her palm to her forehead, sitting down on the bed and rubbing her forehead to calm herself down. "Honestly... you nearly gave me a heart attack here."
"Eh, Im sorry Goddess!" Bell bows as she apologizes to Hestia. "We really didn't want to cause trouble, but a misunderstanding happened and the fight occurred."
"Right..." Hestia sighs. She looks at Bell and motions for him to sit down next to her. "Bell, tell me everything that happened in the tavern."
"R-right..." Bell reluctantly walks over to the bed, sits down next to his Goddess, and lets out a big sigh. "Well, we got to the tavern, placed an order and then..."
While Bell and Hestia were talking about the fight in the tavern, Penny, who was in the bathroom and under the shower while getting wet from the water falling on his head. He looked up, seeing the various holes in the shower head leaking water, and thoughts began to run through his mind.
"Did... did they survive?..." Penny murmurs as she keeps her gaze on the shower, with the water falling on her face, and is able to disguise the tears coming from her eyes.
After a few more minutes in the shower, Penny comes out of the bathroom, putting on his pants and a towel over his shoulders to dry his hair. He walks over to Bell and Hestia and sees them talking.
"You stayed there to clean up? And Loki had to pay for the damage!?" Hestia is surprised and happy at the same time.
"Well, yes. I wanted to help clean up, but the owner wouldn't let me because... I didn't break anything." Bell says a little sad that she didn't help clean the place.
"Oh, don't worry, Bell." Hestia shrugged. "You didn't do anything wrong, it was that werewolf who-" Hestia looks away and sees Penny. Her gaze focused on the boy's chest.
"Is something wrong?" Penny asks as she walks over to the sofa and sits down. He puts the towel aside and starts to put on his shirt.
"No-no, it's nothing." Hestia looks away with a slight blush on her cheeks. In her mind, the Goddess wanted, no, she had to see her Bell with that defined body.
"But are you sure you're all right?" Bell asked with concern about Penny and Bete's fight.
"Yes, don't worry." Penny finishes putting on his shirt. He leaves the towel on a hanger, walks back to the sofa and lies down on it. "I'm going to sleep, good night."
Penny quickly falls asleep, leaving Hestia and Bell surprised at the speed of the boy's sleep. Bell yawns slightly, turns to his Goddess and gives her a tired smile.
"Well, I think I'm going to sleep too." Bell turns over and lies down on the bed, in a few moments he feels a weight in front of him, his head is grabbed and he feels his face land on something soft. He opens his eyes and sees that his face is resting on Hestia's breasts. "G-G-G-Goddess!" Bell tries to object, but Hestia shushes him.
"Bell... I want to ask you something." Hestia speaks in a soft tone that makes Bell pay full attention to her. "I want to ask you not to let Penny get into trouble. Don't let him do anything stupid to the people here in Orario, understand?" Hestia says and Bell nods in agreement.
Hestia smiles in response, releasing the boy from her breasts, she turns over in bed and closes her eyes, trying not to think about the consequences this fight might cause. Bell blinks, still confused by his Goddess' request, but he slowly closes his eyes and begins to fall asleep.

"Hmmm... what's that?" Hestia wakes up to hear a soft, relaxing sound. She turns around and sees that Bell has woken up too. "Bell... did you wake up?"
"Yes..." Bell rubs his eyes, trying to wake up at once. He looks around, seeing that only Hestia is there. "Where's Penny?" Bell asks with a slight concern in his voice.
"Penny he..." Hestia realized that Penny wasn't in the room. "Penny!" Hestia quickly gets out of bed, walking around the room she tries to find the boy, but can't find him. She despairs a little, but remembers the reason that woke her up. "Do you hear that sound?"
"Sound?..." Bell asks confused, but he pays more attention and hears a soft melody hanging in the air. "A song?..."
"It sounds like it's coming from up there!" Hestia quickly runs to the stairs. With Bell following right behind her. As the two of them climb the stairs, the sound gets louder and louder.
They reach the top and stop the moment they spot the source of the sound. Hestia is surprised, while Bell is impressed. Penny, who was sitting in one of the church pews with her eyes closed, was playing a flute, making a sweet, relaxing sound. With a melody that neither Hestia nor Bell had ever heard in their lives.
Penny, who was sitting and playing his flute masterfully, continued to play the melody, and when it seemed that the melody would end, he would start again from the beginning. After a few more minutes of doing this. He stopped playing the flute, moved it away from his mouth, opened his eyes and saw Bell and Hestia looking at him with admiration.
"Good morning, Bell! Good morning, Goddess Hestia! Did you sleep well?" Penny asks with a smile that Hestia knows all too well. She had seen this smile on Bell many times before.
End of chapter.
Note: About Penny and Bete's fight, I had thought of something different. I wanted Penny to take her God Arc and beat Bete with it in double-bladed staff mode, but after rethinking it, I decided to show off some of Penny's hand-to-hand combat skills. And about him being able to play instruments, well, I haven't thought of a good justification, but I think it would be very nice if he played a few tunes with his flute in peaceful moments. If you want me to come up with a plausible justification, write it in the comments and I'll be happy to put it in the next chapter. And about Pizza... well, who can't make pizza?
Thanks to
blakkneko: Thanks for your comment, and honestly I'd like to see more God Eater Fic with other anime. I really enjoyed playing God Eater Burst, God Eater 2 and God Eater 3 (I didn't manage to play Resurrection and Rage Burst).
And about Devour Mode, I really didn't think about that! The God Eater anime is a long time since I watched it, but thanks for the suggestion.
For'Sleep 3rd: People really didn't find Penny's God Eater strange. That's why I decided to put a little something about it in this chapter.
About the Gun, Penny can make bullets out of monster items, but that's in the future. Because you noticed that the shot he fired at the Lizard was white, i.e. a neutral bullet.
And about Welf, maybe it is. As I'm still consuming this work, I don't know everything about the characters, but I do know most of the important issues.
Yo'Student'Here: You make a good point. It can be both good and bad for this world, but I like to think it will be half and half.
About Penny's God Arc, I'm still thinking about what he can do if it's damaged. It's not shown in the games, but after every mission the God Arcs are taken to the workshops for repair. If you have any suggestions as to how this could be resolved, I'd be happy to include them in this fic.
And about Penny's blood... You've given me a great idea for a future chapter hehe!
Anyway, thanks for the reviews, I appreciate them as they've given me some great ideas for future chapters.
