Ch. 13: Elizabeth and Akko's Day Out
"Good morning, Akko~!"
Elizabeth's singing voice was the first thing Akko had heard before the birds chirping or any sound from outside. It was morning, but the girl could honestly not tell due to the thick dark clouds covering the sky. Elizabeth helped Akko out of bed and dressed her up in her maid outfit. Once Akko was fully dressed, Elizabeth got herself ready by putting on her sunblock coating her entire pale body in the white lotion. Then when the vampire girl was sure she got every nock and cranny she went into her clothes and took out some casual clothes.
A few minutes later, Elizabeth was wearing a black turtleneck underneath a purple poncho with a black vine pattern, a long purple skirt, black leggings, and black slippers.
"Guess you're wondering why I am wearing something like this, right Akko?" Elizabeth did a twirl in front of the maid girl. "Tomorrow, that old geezer is sending me back to Luna Nova so that means I'm going to be away from you for a while…"
Elizabeth then ran up to Akko and hugged her.
"I wanna spend our last day together having fun! So let's go out into town and do some shopping~!"
She then released Akko from the hug and took up a purse from the other side of the room.
"Sighisoara has some good shops and my parents gave me the okay to go out! Let's go~!"
Not really having much of a choice, Akko followed Elizabeth out of the mansion. The two wandered out of the Remains of Heaven and came out to an empty road where the sun shined down on them. If it was not for the sunblock Elizabeth was wearing she would have burst into flames. The two vampiric girls then ran down the road at super speed and in two minutes appeared in front of the entrance of Sighisoara. Elizabeth was very excited to the point that she squealed and jumped up, but Akko still remained emotionless.
"This is gonna be so fun~!"
For the majority of the morning, Elizabeth and Akko went into almost every store in Sighisoara. The purple-haired vampire girl bought gems, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets at a fair price. Then she went to a clothes shop where she tried on many outfits. It took an hour for Elizabeth to finally choose the outfits she wanted to buy as she constantly showcased to Akko almost every single dress or suit she could find. In the end, the two left the clothing store with a mountain's worth of bought accessories. Akko had to carry all of them, which looked like a tower made of boxes that the maid had in her arms. Hanging on her wrists were multiple paper bags. Despite all of that stuff, Akko did not even break a sweat as she slowly walked down the sidewalk with everybody looking over in surprise. Elizabeth was in front dancing around and humming a gentle tune.
The two girls then stopped in front of a hotdog where Elizabeth put one for Akko. To a vampire, human food was tasteless and non-nutritious but Akko was still human (to a certain degree). While Akko stood motionless with the shopping materials in her hands, Elizabeth fed the hot dog to her. Akko was carrying a lot of stuff.
"Shopping with you was really fun Akko! When I come back from Luna Nova we should go to the movies!" Elizabeth said with a smile. But then the purple-haired girl hummed to herself and took a cell phone out of her pocket. She checked the clock and grinned.
"On second thought, we have time! Let's go see one now!"
And so, Akko and Elizabeth went to the movies. The film was called "Sex and Violence with Machspeed" which was a wild animated film with a bunch of mature themes but some smack-dab comedy. Elizabeth was the only one who seemed to enjoy the film when her maid just watched the screen, not even blinking.
An hour in, Elizabeth fell asleep on Akko's shoulder.
After the movie, the two witches came in front of the entrance to the train station.
"That was awesome! My "other friends" should be coming right about now…oh!"
Elizabeth quickly turned over to Akko and dragged her to the back of a building.
"I completely forgot! If they see you they are gonna ask questions! Sorry Akko but I'm gonna have to disguise you—"
Elizabeth took out her wand and cleared her throat.
"Metamorphie Fociesse!"
A puff of smoke covered Akko and when it cleared the skinny Japanese girl was no more. She had become an overweight girl with blonde hair and teal eyes. Elizabeth giggled in response to Akko's new form.
"You look so adorable~! Okay, now I have to give you a temporary name…how about…Isabella! Perfect! Isabella is a great name!"
Elizabeth then clapped her hands and started walking closer to the entrance. Following the sound of her clapping Akko— Isabella was close behind. The two girls then stopped right by the stairs that led up to the entrance of the train station.
"Elizabeth~!"
Coming out of the entrance were Hannah and Barbara. While Hannah was wearing a yellow sundress, Barbara was wearing a white one with a Jean jacket over it. And coming from behind them at a slow pace was Diana in a light blue sundress. The moment Diana saw Elizabeth she smiled softly.
"Diana! Hannah! Barbara!" Elizabeth called out in excitement.
The four girls hugged each other. After they parted Hannah looked behind Elizabeth to see Isabella.
"Who is she?" Hannah asked as she pointed at the fat girl.
"My maid, Isabella," Elizabeth answered. "She is helping me with shopping today."
Barbara gasped.
"You went shopping without us!? No fair, Lucifer!"
Elizabeth giggled.
"I couldn't help myself~! I saw this beautiful diamond necklace! Wanna see~?"
The purple-haired girl quickly went into one of the shopping bags attached to Isabella and showed off the shining necklace made of pure diamonds. Hannah and Barbara inched closer, completely hypnotized by the light the gems gave off. Diana showed no real interest and simply walked over to Elizabeth.
"What do you wish to do today, Elizabeth?"
"How about we go to my house!"
"Oh, really? I can't wait to see it!"
As Hannah and Barbara showed excitement, within the inside of Akko's consciousness she was terrified of what Elizabeth's intentions were.
"She's taking them to the mansion!? Is she gonna kill them!?"
The Blue Team followed Elizabeth as they entered a populated neighborhood. The purple-haired girl stopped in front of a big house with roses planted all over the front.
"This is where I live," Elizabeth said as Hannah and Barbara clapped. Akko was confused, knowing fully well that the house before them was not the true home of Elizabeth.
As they went inside, the girls were immediately greeted by well-dressed servants who bowed in their presence.
"Welcome back Lady Lucifer."
Elizabeth smiled.
"It's great to be back."
The servants then began to share cookies and tea with everyone and the girls sat down by the fancy couch talking and laughing. Akko— who was still called Isabella stood by the corner of the couch holding all of the shopping items.
"Where are your parents?" Hannah asked Elizabeth.
"On A business trip," the purple-haired girl answered. "My mother deals with political engagements and my father is a professor at some school called…what was its name…I forgot, but it's an all-boys school for wizards."
"You know my brother goes to an all-boys wizard school too!" Hannah stated.
Elizabeth's eyes widened in surprise.
"You have a brother? You never told me!"
"Hm? Really? I thought I brought it up before…"
"Well, you never like to talk about him," Barbara said. "After all, almost all the stories involving Howard are just him destroying things and causing trouble for everyone!"
Hannah scoffed.
"That's right. He's the reason why I hate troublemakers! Howard is the King of All Troublemakers!"
"Didn't Howard also have a crush on you Diana?"
Barbara turned to Diana who sipped some of her tea.
"I don't recall…"
"He did!" Hannah shouted. "He TOTALLY did! And that jerk wouldn't stop harassing you!"
"Oh, that's right," Diana snapped her fingers. "He was that loud boy who kept challenging me to a duel. He kept saying if he won I would have to go on a date with him."
"Howard is an idiot!" Hannah shook her head. "I can't believe he actually thought he could beat you!"
Diana shrugged and replied, "I will give him props, he was a pretty skilled wizard but his moves were very easy to read."
"Ew! Don't give praise to that idiot! They're wasted on him!
As the four girls continued to converse, the eyes of Isabella turned to the left where one of the servants was standing behind the couch completely still. Out of nowhere, the neck of the servant split open and the head fell forward, almost ready to fall off the neck. Inwardly, Akko screeched in horror at the sight.
"They're zombies from the mansion!" Akko yelled. "Elizabeth must have put some transformation spell to make them look human!"
The servant quickly put their head back into its rightful place before anybody noticed.
"So Diana, I don't think I ever asked but how did you become so gifted in magic? Did you have a tutor?" Elizabeth asked.
Diana replied, "The servants at my manor did help me with subjects I didn't understand but I mostly trained by myself."
"Really? That's impressive!"
"O-oh," Diana's cheeks turned pink in embarrassment. "It's really not that impressive Elizabeth…"
"It definitely is!" Elizabeth shouted excitedly. "Your magic is amazing! The fact that you are able to do so much by yourself— you are honestly one of the most talented witches I've ever seen!"
"T-thank you, Elizabeth."
"Hm? Is your feet okay?"
Elizabeth bent down and stared at Diana's shoes.
"You keep shifting them around. Are your shoes making your feet uncomfortable?"
"P-perhaps…maybe I'm growing out of these shoes…"
I see…Isabella! Can you massage Diana's feet?"
"WHAT?!" Akko screamed inside her head. "Oh come on! I'd rather eat Sucy's moldy mushrooms than massage Diana's feet!"
"Yes, master," the robotic voice of Isabella replied as she walked over to Diana and knelt.
The blonde witch was looking away shyly as the overweight removed her shoes.
"Oh no! You don't have to trouble yourself Isabella I'm fine—"
"Don't worry!" Elizabeth said to Diana with a smile. "Isabella loves to serve! Plus her hands feel amazing~! See for yourself!"
The maid Isabella began to massage Diana's feet and instantly the young witch felt the tension in her heel and toes fade away. Diana moaned in delight as Isabella was doing a good job at erasing the stuffiness.
"Woah! I've never seen Diana like that!" Barbara said aloud. "Is Isabella really that good? Hey Diana! After you can I get a turn!? My feet have been killing me too!"
"I'M NOT A DAMN MASSEUSE!"
Akko was shouting into the void of her consciousness as her body carried on taking care of Diana.
But when Diana looked over at Isabella for one second she noticed something strange. The teal eyes of the overweight girl had turned red.
"What?"
But then a second later the eyes returned to their teal color.
"I-is something wrong with her eyes?" Diana said in her head. "They turned red! They looked just like…no… that's impossible. She's back in Japan…"
"Hannah! Barbara!"
Diana was distracted by her thoughts as Elizabeth was calling out to the other two members of the Blue Team.
"Do you guys want to see a gnome?"
Both Hannah and Barbara stood up quickly, their eyes shined brightly as they ran over to Elizabeth.
"YOU HAVE A GNOME!?"
The two witches both yelled at the same time. Elizabeth could not help but chuckle at their excitement.
"It's in the backyard, it takes care of the architecture for the garden. Go ahead and check it out! If you ask nicely maybe it can make souvenirs for you guys!"
"You don't have to tell me twice— let's go, Hannah! I wanna see if it can make me an enchanted pearl like the one my Mother has!"
"Wait up, Barbara! I'm asking first!"
As Hannah and Barbara followed a servant to the backyard, Elizabeth and Diana turned to each other and continued to talk.
"Hey Diana?"
"Yes, Elizabeth?"
"Why did you enter Luna Nova?"
"What do you mean? For a young witch like me, it is very simple to enroll in a magical academy and learn the fundamentals of magic. Once I graduate I will have a certificate that will legally proclaim my title of a witch."
"Yeah that's true, but you come from one of the most influential families in the magic world— the House of Cavendish! Even if you didn't go to any school your stasis in the society of magic would still be pretty high!"
"I guess you are kind of right, it's more of a…personal reason to why I joined Luna Nova."
"Personal? Wait don't tell me…"
Elizabeth put her finger to her chin and then a minute later she snapped her fingers and turned to Diana with a grin.
"You love reading and studying so you wanted to go into a school that was all about hard tests and mountain loads of homework, right?"
Both Diana and Elizabeth laughed.
"Well, I indeed love to study, but there is an actual reason why I entered Luna Nova."
The blonde witch turned away from her friend and looked down at her hands. Her smile fell and her eyes seemed to shine with some sort of sadness behind it.
"I was…looking for something."
"Looking for something?"
"Something that was promised to me…something that my late mother wanted me to have. I went to Luna Nova because I believed it would be there."
"And was it?"
"It was…but I quickly began to realize that it was out of my reach…"
Diana sighed sadly and glanced over at Isabella.
"You can stop now, my foot feels better. Thank you, Isabella."
"Stop, Isabella."
After hearing the order from Elizabeth, Isabella stood up and walked behind the couch.
"So even though the thing you were looking for became unattainable you still stayed in Luna Nova…why? Did you think you could get it?"
"…a part of me did. But now I'm not really sure what's keeping me there anymore…"
"I feel the same way you do, Diana!"
"R-really?"
"Huh uh! I don't really wanna go back to Luna Nova!"
"…I understand. After all your first week in our school wasn't exactly…enjoyable. I apologize for what you had to experience—"
"No no! Not because of that!" Elizabeth shouted. "It's because Akko isn't there anymore!"
Diana looked over at Elizabeth with a raised eyebrow.
"Y-you…miss Akko?"
Elizabeth nodded vigorously.
"Absolutely!"
"I'm…surprised you would say that. I thought you would hold a grudge against her after what she did to you…"
Elizabeth blew a raspberry.
"Nah! I'm not mad about that anymore! After all, I survived so it's all okay!"
"Huh…I'm surprised by how laid back you are about this…"
"Do I seem laid back? I never really saw it like that! I'm just…I don't know— I feel like I'm going to miss Akko a lot! Yeah, she was a troublemaker but you got to admit she made days in Luna Nova more interesting!"
"W-what do you mean?"
"It was like she was Jack in the box! You have no clue what she's gonna do and when she's gonna do it! The school is going to become soooo boring without her! I wish I had least got to see her before I left!"
"I see…"
"…and I bet you miss her too, Diana~…"
"H-HUH!?"
Diana shrieked while her face turned red.
"A-a-absolutely not! Me and Akko never saw eye to eye! I'm glad that fool is gone!"
"Aw~! You're such a terrible liar, Diana~…"
Elizabeth inched closer and whispered in Diana's ear.
"Admit it…you wish she was still around. Because she brightens up your day and…she brought an excitement to your life."
"W-what makes you think that, Elizabeth?"
"I can tell by the way you look at her~…my eyes don't fool~… you are just trying to force yourself to hate her but deep down…you really admire Akko don't you~?"
"I-I—"
"Why are you trying so hard to hate someone you honestly don't despise?"
"I-I…I-I just…"
Diana gulped and looked away in shame.
"It's because…it's because…Akko has…defeated me…"
"Hm?" Elizabeth tilted her head. "Defeated you? How? As far as I know, you were the better student."
"T-that is true! B-but…Akko had something that I simply didn't. And because of that I…"
The blonde witch sighed and looked back at Elizabeth with a serious expression.
"Hm? What's wrong Diana?"
"Elizabeth…we're friends right?"
"Of course!"
"That means you are going to be honest with me?"
"Yep!"
"Then, I'm going to ask you this question and I beg you to please answer me honestly…"
"Okay, sure!"
"…did you set Akko up to get expelled?"
Silence had filled the entire living room, all the servants were gone and no sound could be heard except for the ticking clock on the wall and the breathing of the three girls. Diana was the only one who seemed tense while Elizabeth continued to smile in her direction. Isabella still kept her neutral expression but deep down in the darkness of her consciousness was an anxious Akko was worried for Diana. She had no clue what Elizabeth would do.
"…If I did, what would you do?"
"W-what did you say?"
Diana moved away from Elizabeth who still smiled, which now seemed to unsettle the blonde witch.
"If I said I did set up Akko, what would you do? Would you tell everyone in Luna Nova the truth? Would you try to reverse Akko's expulsion? Would you try to get me expelled? Even though you have been so very kind to me so far…you would toss me to the wind if it meant bringing Akko back?"
"I-I didn't mean to offend you if—"
"You didn't offend me, you just proved my earlier point. As a matter of fact, you showed me something more just asking that question…"
"H-huh? How did I—"
"You care about Akko– like care care. You wish she was still in Luna Nova so much that you are looking for something that might bring her back to the school…back to you."
"B-back to me?" Diana chuckled nervously. "You are making it sound like I'm trying to keep Akko for myself…"
"Perhaps you do…"
Isabella's eyes trailed down to Elizabeth and she saw that the vampire girl had one hand behind her back. The nails on her hand extended, becoming sharp claws that could tear the flesh easily.
"Perhaps…you want to keep Akko for yourself? That's very selfish Diana…very selfish~…"
"E-Elizabeth…I don't get what you're trying to sa—"
Then in a quick motion, Elizabeth raised her head and tried to stab Diana with it. It was incredibly fast that Diana's normal eyes did not even see the hand move. A second later, the head of Diana Cavendish would have been split in two like a watermelon. But luckily, the big hand of Isabella grabbed Elizabeth's before the claws even touched Diana's face and she picked the purple-haired girl off the couch.
"W-what the—"
Isabella then helps Elizabeth in a full Nelson, but the vampire girl can easily escape with ease.
"W-what are you doing!?" Diana shouted. "Is something wrong!?"
"N-nothing! Nothing is wrong!" Elizabeth responded while sweating and giggling. "Me and Isabella like to rough house sometimes but…I guess she's just hungry! Please give us a minute Diana!"
Elizabeth then pushed Isabella and the two left the living room. Diana stayed seated where she was with a concerned look.
"That was…definitely not normal!"
Isabella and Elizabeth entered the bathroom, the purple-haired vampire girl pouting in the overweight maid's face.
"Why'd you save her!? How did you even move!? Is the spell the old geezer conjured weakening? No that can't be…your soul should be gone."
Elizabeth leaned in closer to Isabella's face and noticed that her eyes were flickering from teal to red. This caused the vampire girl to burst out laughing.
"Did you break out from the control because you were worried about Diana~? You didn't want me to kill her~? I'm surprised! After all the things she said to you, after the times she's ridiculed you…why do you want to save her? Do you…?"
The purple eyes of Elizabeth turned dark and began to snarl like an enraged dog, showing her fangs.
"Are you…do you…care about Diana? That's not true…it can't be, because…I'm the only one you truly care about, right?"
Elizabeth then grabbed the right ear of Isabella.
"RIGHT— AKKO!?"
And then tore the ear completely off, letting blood spill everywhere. Isabella herself showed no reaction, but Akko herself was screeching in misery from the pain.
The ear quickly began to regenerate and Elizabeth started taking heavy breaths.
"I-I'm sorry Akko…I lost my cool there…I just got so mad…thinking that you could possibly… love someone other than me."
Elizabeth put her hands on Isabella's cheeks which seemed to have somehow deactivated the transformation spell, but only on the head of the body.
"Thank you, Akko for stopping me. If I had killed Luna Nova's star student it would have caused some major trouble…so, thank you, Akko…I love you so much…"
The vampire girl gently kissed Akko on her lips. Once they parted the face of Akko once again transformed into the face of Isabella.
A few hours later, the afternoon had come which meant it was time for the Blue Team was ready to leave. The four girls gathered at the train station where Hannah and Barbara were happily waving and saying farewell.
"Bye, Elizabeth!"
"Bye, Hannah! Bye, Barbara!"
Then Elizabeth stared at Diana with an arrogant grin and waved slowly in her direction.
"Bye, Diana~…"
The blonde witch nervously looked away.
"B-bye…"
Diana was the first to go into the train station without looking back. Hannah and Barbara were confused by their friends' cold actions towards Elizabeth but said nothing aloud. They waved goodbye to Elizabeth one last time before following Diana. Later Diana and her lackeys leaving
As the Blue Team went into the train and took their seats they immediately began to converse with each other.
"The gnome made me a great dream catcher!" Hannah stated as she showcased a poorly made dream catcher made of sticks and vines. "It's great! I was having that nightmare of that gross Sucy girl poisoning me over and over again! Maybe this time it can finally go away!"
"I got the bracelet of good luck!" Barbara said as she revealed a green bracelet on her right wrist. "I hope this helps me get good grades on the midterm!"
Diana ignored the two of them as she looked out the window. Her mind was continuously on the strange behavior of Elizabeth and the maid but she had no clue what it could all mean.
Feeling a headache come upon her, the blonde witch sighed and massaged her head.
"What am I going to do…?"
Once the Blue Team was gone, the transformation spell finally wore off and Akko returned to her normal self.
"That was fun! But that Diana was very nosy!" Elizabeth stated excitedly as she turned to Akko. "Let's head back to the mansion! You didn't lose any of the stuff I bought did you?"
As the two girls were walking down the street, they did not know that they were being watched by six eyes from on top of the roof of a building.
There were three people, one of them was a fairly tall, curvaceous, dark-skinned woman with brown eyes, thin eyebrows, and white hair with straight fringe and bangs. She wore a long black veil with a golden cross necklace.
The other two were much younger than the older woman. One of them was a young teenage girl who was quite tall. She had short dark blue hair with several bangs covering her entire forehead, the middle portion of it coming close to her nose, and black eyes. She wore the same thing as the older woman except it was much smaller and she had a sword in a white sheath attached to her back. And the second young person was a teenage boy of above-average height, with a slim, muscular build, and pale skin. He has short, spiky auburn hair, large and long matching eyebrows, and an upside-down silver cross necklace on his left ear. His eyes were intense looking and were the color gray and he wore black vestments and had a golden cross necklace.
"That's her…the vampire girl that attacked Father Solomon…"
The older woman spoke, her voice was raspy and deep. The young girl pointed at the two vampires and spoke.
"There is another with her, Mother Agatha. Is she a zombie?"
"I don't smell rotten flesh. She must be a vampire!"
The young man began cackling and smiling. The young girl crossed her arms and sighed.
"Howard…you need to take this more seriously! That vampire was able to injure Father Solomon! She's far from weak!"
"Ah— stop killing my mood, Joan! I want to go down and burn them to ash right now!"
"Hmph," Agatha smirked. "Then let's not waste time!"
The three black-wearing individuals jumped from the roof of the building and landed creating a loud crashing sound and cracking the pavement. Elizabeth turned around quickly and clicked her teeth in annoyance.
"Shit! Exorcists!"
Elizabeth immediately took out her wand and aimed it toward the two young exorcists that sprinting at inhuman speed. Joan was taking out her long and glowing sword while Howard had a slingshot that was decorated with flame-like designs made of silver.
"Akko! Get ready!"
"Nice to meet you, Myrddin Emrys! We're going to avenge what you did to Father Solomon!"
Howard then swung his slingshot which hurled three small balls of fire that had Luna Letters embedded within them. that were as fast as a bullet. Elizabeth was able to dodge all of them but she was not prepared for Howard to be right in front of her and punch her right in the stomach.
The vampire girl was blown back but she quickly regained her composure.
"I'm honestly surprised the church is still taking in young folk like you! I thought the children of this age didn't believe in God anymore!"
While Elizabeth was facing off against Howard, Joan ran towards Akko with a downward swing. Akko backflipped away before getting hit and took out her wand.
"The time is now," Agatha declared in a loud booming voice. "Destroy the undead! Don't let them escape!"
