Brooklyn and Hiccup had gone around the island for most of the night to Raven's Point in where the Fury had landed, Hiccup having drawn a map to find his shot down Night Fury.

Trying to stifle a yawn, Brooklyn knew he had to ask this question. "H-How did you shoot down a Night Fury by the way?" He asked, Hiccup flushing.

"Well, I used one of my rope shooting machines and it pretty much took it down, I hope. But of course, nobody believes me, apart from you." He said.

Brooklyn grinned halfheartedly back. "At least I'm here with you, despite us walking around all night." He looked up to see the dawn come, sighing from the warmth of the sun arriving. This was one of the benefits of being human; getting to see the sun that his clan had longed to for eons.

They both stopped in a clearing, looking around to find yet more dead ends, Hiccup grumbling after marking off another failure, scribbling angrily in the book and slamming it shut, Brooklyn flinching in understanding for his anger. "Aw, the gods hate us! Some people lose a knife or a mug but not me! I had to lose an entire dragon!"

Hiccup smacked a branch which hit him back in return, along with Brooklyn who winced in pain, hoping he didn't get splinters. When looking at the branch, it was connected to what looked like an unearthed tree, really smashed up into splinters.

And even the ground beneath them had been dug so deep it looked like a trench up to a hill. Frowning, Hiccup put his book away, putting a finger to his lips to tell Brooklyn to be quiet which he nods, the friends creeping forward to the hillside, and peeking over the top.

Brooklyn stared down the hill and by a big rock, seeing what looked like a big black mound that was breathing heavily and wrapped in bola ropes. His heart felt like it was in his throat. Was that really the Night Fury? He nudged Hiccup silently, pointing in his excitement as Hiccup nodded though they were both afraid.

That was when Hiccup did a crazy thing, pulling out his knife, and crawling down the hill to hide behind the rock, Brooklyn flinching but following anyway since he wanted to see a Night Fury up close. The two of them took careful baby steps to the unconscious dragon, noting it's 60 foot wing span and long tail, and broad but sleek head. The beast moaned, still unaware of their presence but clearly in pain.

Brooklyn felt something twing in his heart, hating to see something as powerful as a dragon just tied up and at their mercy. He knew how it felt when a bunch of bikers tried pinning him down despite Brooklyn being stronger than any of them. He couldn't help but try placing a careful hand on the Fury's leg, making Hiccup's eyes bulge.

"What are you doing?! Stop doing that!" He hissed silently, Brooklyn quickly pulling his hand back and allowing Hiccup to step forward, taking in his prize. "Sorry." Brooklyn mumbled, but stared at his hand. The scales were rather smooth but kind of like sandpaper, not slimy and wet like he had thought.

Hiccup's eyes roamed along the fallen dragon. "Oh wow, I-I did it! Oh, I did it this fixes everything! Yes! I have brought down this mighty beast!" Hiccup exclaimed, placing his foot on the Fury's foot in a heroic way until his voice woke up the dragon, growling in annoyance, knocking Hiccup's foot off him.

Brooklyn froze in his spot from the unearthly growl and snorts, looking to the head, and found its piercing green eyes staring right at him. He swallowed. "I-I think you woke him up…" Brook said in a nervous way, standing back against the rock to let Hiccup finish the job.

Hiccup pulled out his knife, taking deep shaky breaths, holding it aloft. "I'm gonna kill you dragon. And I'm going to cut out your heart and take it to my father! I'm a Viking… I'm a Viking!" He shouted the last couple words with more confidence.

His face falling, Brooklyn didn't know now if he wanted to watch this beautiful dragon be murdered defenseless. The way its eyes were shifting back and forth between them, it was too heartwrenching. The Fury also made some small whining noises, shutting its eyes in defeat.

Hiccup gritted his teeth, trying to bring the knife down and get it over with. But soon, his heart had won, his arms slumping, making Brook sigh in some small relief. The young teen looked over at his catch, pressing his lips together in sadness. "I did this…" He mumbled, stepping back.

Brook walked over, taking his hand. "And, I guess we know what we have to do now, right?" The former beaked gargoyle said, gesturing to the ropes. Hiccup nodded, smiling in determination. "No going back now."

The knife was put to work now but not for killing. Instead, Hiccup started cutting off each rope, Brooklyn untangling the ropes from the wings as well to help out, the Night Fury's eyes having opened and slitted, watching the pair in confusion.

Once the last of the ropes were cut, it was all hell from there. The Night Fury shrieked, pouncing on the two young males to the rock with its sharp claws. Brooklyn gasped aloud from his fear, wishing even more now that he was a gargoyle so he could hopefully calm the dragon down but now the beast wanted to swallow them whole.

Hiccup was more terrified than Brooklyn, staring directly into the Night Fury's green eyes, who bared its white fangs, raising its wings. Brooklyn shut his own, bracing himself for their death of being eaten alive. So much for returning to his clan…

Instead of feeling teeth ripping through his human skin, a loud roar pierced his eardrum, making him cower there on the ground with Hiccup. The roaring stopped after that, Brook peeking open his eyes, watching the black dragon soar off into the sky though not flying as gracefully as it did before, crashing into other cliffsides. Possibly exhausted from being tied up, screeching in the distance.

Brooklyn put a hand on his chest, trying to pull himself together as he and Hiccup stared at one another in pretty much expressionless shock that they were still alive. At that moment though, Hiccup fainted. Quickly standing, Brooklyn picked Hiccup up the best he could and laid him against the rock to wake up since he didn't want to bring back an unconscious Hiccup to the village. Besides, the day was getting late.

….

Around 6:00, Hiccup had finally woken up, rubbing his head, seeing that Brooklyn had stayed with him, drawing something in the dirt. Brook turned to the sound of Hiccup being awake and grinned. "Hey, welcome back from the dead. We should get going though, or your father will have my head."

Hiccup nods, glancing to where the Night Fury left before soon following his friend through the woods. It took a while but they managed to get back to Berk where most of the Vikings were settling in for the night, trying to sneak inside the house.

Stoick was busy stoking the fire until he heard his son and their guest. "Hiccup. Brooklyn." He said firmly, making the friends halt in going up the stairs.

"Dad! Uh, I have to talk to you dad…" Hiccup mumbled, Brooklyn elbowing him sharply, not wanting Hiccup to give away that they had let a Night Fury go free.

Stoick stood up, rubbing his hands. "I need to speak with you too son. Brooklyn, stay here since this involves you too."

Brooklyn flushed, shuffling his feet and nods. Both Hiccup and Stoick wound up talking over each other about what they wanted which was rather hilarious. "What?"

The chief cleared his throat. "Uh, you go first."

Hiccup shrugged. "No, no you go first." He invited. Stoick gave a sigh before he began. "Dragon training. You both start in the morning."

Just hearing those words made Brooklyn freeze in shock. The chief wanted him… to fight dragons? "Y-You can't be serious. Right?" Stoick shook his head. "I am. What you've shown in the battle field, I think I you have what it takes to be a dragon fighter Brooklyn." He placed one of his big hands on Brook's shoulder who tensed, then saw the slightly gentle gaze in the man's eyes. He now felt even more guilty about hiding his true identity but didn't want to spoil this moment.

"Well, uh, thanks. I'll let you both talk about it. 'Yawn' a little bit tired." Brooklyn said, faking a yawn before waving them good night and allowing Hiccup and Stoick to have their father son moment. He went into Hiccup's room and shut the door, panting in relief to be away from them both.

His hands clenched, knowing in cold fear that he was now gonna be facing dragons every week which didn't sound like fun at all. And how was he going to get home? It had been two weeks since his arrival on Berk, and now Brooklyn was still a human. It made him curl up there on the floor, trembling a little. He missed his wings and his beak.

Then something caught his eyes, spotting a book underneath Hiccup's bed. Reaching under and pulling it out, Brooklyn gasped when he saw it was the dragon book he had seen in Xanatos' library, giving out a relieved laugh. Maybe this was his chance of getting home!

Opening the pages, Brooklyn shuffled through them all until finding the Skrill, which had been the drawing that sent him to this world. He stared down at the fierce dragon, waiting expectantly for the creature to come alive. "Alright, c'mon dragon. Come alive. Come on! I have to go back to my clan!" He gasped, feeling his heart beat fast in panic mode.

Nothing happened. Brooklyn gave a little sniffle, tears coming out of his eyes. The book wasn't going to help anymore like he hoped it would. Closing it, he pushed it back under Hiccup;s bed where he found it, curling up on his cot right as Hiccup came in, seeing the red eyes on his friend.

"Hey, you alright?" Hiccup asked gently, sitting down next to him. "It's the dragon training, isn't it?"

Brooklyn shook his head. "Not really. I'm just homesick I guess." He mumbled, still keeping his home a secret.

Hiccup smiled knowingly. "Yeah, I know it is hard, losing everyone you love. But we will try everything we can to help you feel at home here on Berk." He invited.

The words cheered up the red gargoyle turned human a little, nodding after wiping his eyes. The two eventually went to bed, wondering what the next few days would bring, especially with the Night Fury.
