Chapter 3: A Kicking Encounter!
DogDay caught up with CatNap as he followed him.
"Where is this going?" DogDay wondered,
"I don't know, but I think I know what's going on." CatNap replied,
"And it's coming from Verygreen Park, yes?"
"Of course, through the smell of ylang-ylang…"
"Ylang-ylang…"
CatNap and DogDay were then in Verygreen Park as they searched around to find out who's making that Ylang-ylang scent. The two were sniffing it around the park.
"Getting warmer with this scent we're sniffing?" DogDay wondered,
"I guess this is a block." CatNap replied,
DogDay sighed.
"You know something, CatNap?" He wondered,
"What?" CatNap wondered,
"I haven't heard of the word ylang-ylang in years…"
"It's some sort of tropical plant."
"Right, but, I can't really think of any one of us in our friend group that does smell like ylang-ylang…"
The two then heard someone chuckling at them.
"Oh come on! Your old pal has been rocking ylang-ylang scented body spray since he was only a chick!" Someone said in a Masculine voice, "Or should I say, "kicking" with it? Ha ha!"
CatNap and DogDay gasped.
"Th-That voice!" DogDay said, "Now I remember!"
"Me too…" CatNap said as he sounded embarrassed,
CatNap and DogDay turned to see a male yellow chicken in some sort of rebellious outfit. He was also wearing a star charm over him. CatNap and DogDay knew who the guy was.
"KickinChicken!" DogDay shouted,
"Ha ha ha! Long time no see!" KickinChicken said, "You haven't changed a bit, DogDay!"
"Well, I guess I sorta changed my mood…"
"Yeah, that's cool, but I see your buddy CatNap is also here!"
KickinChicken turned to CatNap and walked over to give him a handshake.
"What's up, CatNap?!" He said to CatNap, "Look at you! You still look like depression!"
"I'm not depressed." CatNap said, "I'm just living in this emo style after what happened 1 year ago…"
KickinChicken sighed as he put his arm down.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say, buddy." He said,
"Buddy? You think I'm your buddy?" CatNap said,
"Ah, come on! If I'm still friends with DogDay, then I'm at least friends with you, yeah?"
"You stopped caring about me."
"Say what?"
"That's right. The last text message you sent to me was a picture of your middle fingers."
DogDay gasped.
"Oh my…" He said, "So you two aren't cool after what happened, yeah?"
"Teh, what else?" KickinChicken said, "Did I piss your little emo ass off?"
"That, too!" CatNap replied as he turned away and crossed his arms, "You called me a deep teenager, when I'm clearly trying to live with the pain I experienced! With it and inflicted upon!"
"Oh, yeah, you're still embarrassed about the crap we did as kids, yeah? You told us spooky stories that scared the crap out of us and even stalked us in your sleep."
"Well I don't do that anymore! I'm an angsty feline with problems going to sleep! I always sleep 5-6 hours a day!"
"Well you're always on your phone listening to your music!" DogDay said, "And browsing the web!"
"...Touche."
KickinChicken chuckled.
"Damn, DogDay, your friend sure is going through Hell." He said,
"Kickin, it's not supposed to be funny." DogDay said, "This is serious business the 8 of us has been through."
KickinChicken sighed as he walked back to where he came from.
"Well, it's a year ago, so most of us moved on by now." He said,
DogDay sighed.
"Someday you'll get it." He said, "But nevermind that, what are you doing here?"
"I came by to do something fun with CatNap today!" KickinChicken replied,
"...And what's that?" CatNap wondered,
KickinChicken pulled out some sort of device attached to one of his arms.
"And that's to have a nice friendly game of Duel Monsters with you!" He replied,
CatNap and DogDay were surprised.
"What?!" They both shouted,
KickinChicken then puts a deck of cards into the strange device and it activates.
"You two remember when we used to become teenagers, these things were the hot new things?!" He said, "Ah, man! We have no clue where they even come from, but we sure as hell went along and made history with them!"
"Basically, they come from a different world." DogDay said, "I guess from a place called New Domino City? I don't know, Bubba gave me a little history lesson about it by text."
"Well, we're not talking about Bubba! We're talking about a duel between me and CatNap! So what do you say, buddy?"
DogDay looked at CatNap.
"Ummm, look, you don't gotta do this." He said to him,
CatNap sighed.
"Look, I… I haven't played the game in a while…" He said as he took off his school bag,
"C-CatNap…" DogDay said,
CatNap unzipped his school bag to reveal his own personal device with his own deck of cards.
"I just like having this deck and dusk disk around because it reminds me of the good ol' days." He said as he puts the duel disk in one of his arms and the deck into the dusk disk for it to activate, "So if you want to get this over with just to leave me alone, then so be it!"
KickinChicken laughed a bit.
"Awww, look at you!" He said, "Now you're feeling it!"
DogDay was nervous.
"I, don't think this is a–" He said to CatNap,
"--Don't worry, I got this." CatNap said, "Let me take care of this."
"Alright, you do you to get us out of this situation we're in. …If this is even a situation…"
"Alright, enough talking, you two!" KickinChicken shouted, "Come on, we're going to the dueling field!"
"Dueling field?" CatNap said, "This park had a dueling field all of a sudden?",
"Of course! It has been at work since last year and they just finished it 6 months ago! Come on, chop chop! We have a duel to do!"
CatNap sighed.
"I already cannot stand him." He said in his mind as he and DogDay followed KickinChicken, "But again, I just gotta get this crap over with and get me and DogDay out of this situation we're in. …If we can call it one to begin with…"
