Chapter 127: Daddy-Dama Day, Again

"A~hhhn! My Mr. Universe cards!" Damamu (one of them) was still upset over losing the precious cards. "Yudias just gave them to me!"

This wasn't the Damamu the Darkmen were looking for. This was the Damamu who Yuhi duelled the Dark Meister to free from her DM particles, only to learn she immobilized the wrong Damamu, and Resurrection of the Dead had slipped through her fingers.

Kuyamuya frisked the incorrect Damamu.

They stole these silly things.

"JEEZ~! THIS IS FRUSTRATING~! JEEZ~!" Yuamu demonstrated where Yuga's tantrums really came from, berating the Darkmen for their failure and stamping on Valvelgear's viewing platform.

The tantrums where Yuga fell to his back, cried, and banged the ground like a spoiled brat. Like when he was defeated by his best friend during the finals of the Rush Duel Team Battle Royal in his time, or when he was defeated by Yuhi after they were carded by MIK and changed into cats.

But as shown by Damamu's present sadness, tantrums ran in the family, regardless of the line of succession.

"There, there, chupa. Chupa will see about them later, cabra."

"That's what Yuhi said! And he hasn't done itttt!"

"Yuhi has his hands full right now, chupa. Give your mama a break, chupa. Here. How's this, chupa? We'll make our own Mr. Universe cards! It's been a while since our last Daddy-Dama Day, chupa."

"REALLY? Yippee! I love Daddy-Dama Day! Ta-za-ki! Paper! We need paper!"

"Paper?"

"We're making Mr. Universe cards to replace the ones Anesan took from Damamu, cabra."

"So that's what you need it for…" Tazaki itched his stache. "Everyone! Collect all the art supplies you can find!"

"UTS!"

The UTS8 (excluding Yagi-san, who was cooking lunch) soon emerged from their workstations with the materials Damamu and Chupataro needed to work on their afternoon project: Zomyoji-san with construction paper, Taira-san with crayons, Arisugawa-san with markers, Omaeno-san with masking tape, Purisaki-san with scissors, Maki-san with glue sticks, and Tazaki-san with rulers. A rainbow of art supplies!

Most of it was off Yuhi's desk space. Hopefully, he wouldn't mind if Chupataro and their child borrowed his stationery.

"I'm ready now~!" Damamu flopped onto the floor, reaching for the scissors. The inflection Damamu used, Damamu could have been telling Chupataro to get seeking during a game of hide and seek!

Chupataro lifted the pair Damamu was going for. "These are Chupa's. You take the safety scissors, chupa."

Papa wasn't budging on this. Damamu may be talking at a first-grade level and may technically be made of goo that in theory couldn't be cut, but Damamu was still two years old.

"Aww! Stingy!" Damamu was slightly disappointed, though the satisfying sound of the first snip into the construction paper quashed those feelings of wah wah wah.

You know the sound.

It's crisp.

Chupataro patted Damamu's bouncy squiggle of hair and got on his robot's stomach next to Damamu to craft and draw. He put his animating skills to good use, nailing the style of Mr. Universe the first go-around without having to start over.

The pink skin and heart-shaped tongue.

The thin kissy-lip ears and four cutesy eyelashes.

Globes in the title alien character's purple hair.

Chupataro's drawings wouldn't freeze people like the Great King's boring manga did or like the Galactic Manga Group Pro froze themselves illustrating the popular version, of course.

Damamu didn't start over either, happy with the imperfections. Happy to colour outside the lines and doodle all over the page.

Making a mess was half the fun!

"Oops! I drew on the floor! I guess the floor's my card too!"

"Watch where you colouring, chupa! Yuhi will yell at us, cabra!"

Damamu giggled thinking of a chibified Yuhi in his caped look, blowing his top at them.

Chupataro wasn't as thrilled by the notion as Damamu was. His image was of Yuhi standing stiff as a board and flaring his nostrils. Even Yuhi's rattail seemed sharper, like Chupataro might cut himself on it if he brushed his claws behind Yuhi's neck to talk him down.

It'd be a minor thing to get mad about, but sometimes, Yuhi just liked to complain to Chupataro.

"Drawing! Drawing! Drawing with Chupataro!" Damamu hummed while kicking up and down.

They cut around their pictures with their scissors and safety scissors, leaving paper squares which they then designed borders for along all four sides, measuring from the edges and applying the black masking tape. Damamu jotted down each character of "Mr. Universe" in a different colour felt-tip marker, then they pasted the paper squares to bigger cut-out paper rectangles, which they in turn pasted to the front of bargain bin commons so the paper rectangles had authentic card backs.

Daddy and Dama let the glue dry on the two finished cards, proceeding in twos until they had one card for every card Yuamu confiscated, sandwiching them between tiers of heavy books to ensure their flatness.

Mr. Universe chasing a thieving three-eyed alien cat, armed with a spatula and ladle.

Mr. Universe dizzy from a malfunction in his flying saucer. (2 copies)

Mr. Universe and a shooting star.

Mr. Universe and the members of his household dressed nice and formal for a family photo, in their Val-Valvelgear-esque saucers-within-a-saucer flying saucer house.

Mr. Universe's brother getting hit in the head with a baseball.

And so on and so forth.

"Chupataro?"

"What is it, Damamu?"

"I'm glad I was born!"

"Is that right, chupa?" Now, Chupataro was laughing mirthfully.

"Mm! Rush Duels and flying around…Eating curry bread and udon and going to other planets…Everything's so much fun!"

Chupataro couldn't agree more.

He was glad Damamu was born.

He was glad they got to have daddy-Dama time together.

He was glad, once upon a time, he soaked his Duel Disk in Yuhi's Earthdama for thirty minutes, tripped through Meeeg-chan's Solid Vision, and blended his soul with Yuhi's.

Once dry, the custom Mr. Universe cards they made were deposited into Damamu's Deck case.

The UTS8 clapped, and they all congregated in the backyard to enjoy Yagi-san's yakitori.
