I wrote three different drafts of this micro-fic over the course of a week before I realized "Oh! It needs to be in third person to work!" and then it took like two minutes. Seriously. I have forgotten everything I know about writing.
Princess Eadlyn held perfectly still as Neena pinned the final strands of hair into place. She'd been sitting for hair and makeup sessions since her hair first got long enough for pigtails. Then, she'd squirmed and made a fuss, but now, it was part of her daily routine.
"How was your date with Kile?" her maid asked conversationally.
"I didn't have a date last night. I was busy working on that project for Dad," Eadlyn reminded her.
"Are you sure? I really thought you were with Kile."
"Of course I'm sure, Neena!" Eadlyn huffed. "I spent all night working on the budget report for next quarter!"
"Oh. My mistake, Your Highness." Neena moved onto makeup, lightly brushing powder onto the princess's cheeks. "The budget report left a very interesting mark on your neck."
