What inspired this? Homelander is going to be a DLC character in the next Kombat so worth the money to do fatalities on him and use Omni-Man to re-enact one of my all time favourite episodes of Death Battle. Plus the latest animated straight to DVD or digital Mortal Kombat Legends movie will be starring him called Cage Fight and I consider the first one Scorpion's Revenge to be the definitive MK adaptation in my mind and I have liked it and the sequel. Plus Cage Fight looks to have the final performance of Gilbert Gottfried and as a lifelong fan of Disney's Aladdin; it was so surreal to hear him swear in the trailer.
Johnathan Carlton better known as Johnny Cage was the washed up martial arts Champion and action movie star who was now lucky to get work on independent cheap action films that went straight to streaming or DVD; he shocked the world when he took the Homelander's public challenge to fight him in a televised steel cage match for a chance at 10 million dollars. Cage was considered more of a joke who was going to be destroyed out there and he had family members, his former agent and old friends pleading with him to back out but Cage was confident.
He was recently invited to the secret mystical Mortal Kombat tournament to be one of the representative Champions of Earthrealm and none of the superheroes were invited; Earthrealm beat Outworld and broke their 9 victory long winning streak in the tournament and one more win and they would have been allowed to invade the Earth and conquer everything. Cage knew about Hollywood and what was real and knew that the Seven would never last against something legit like Outworld.
He had with him as support other Earthrealm Champions as his crew; Raiden the thunder god's personal apprentice Liu Kang and the smoking hot military veteran Sonya Blade. "Don't showboat too much when you wipe that smug smile off his face Cage." Sonya told him as they were backstage and told that it was his time.
He made his entrance to Prepare Yourself by the Immortals as he was accompanied by LIu and Sonya and made a flashy grin and wave even as the crowd were booing, jeering and laughing at him and chanting that Homelander was going to kill him. He got in through the door to the steel cage ring and acted like he didn't know that the crowd were making a mockery of him.
Vought it seemed paid for a full orchestra to perform the Star Spangled Banner with the Winged superheroine who performed at the Believe Expo singing and there was the Homelander flying down to the ring smiling and waving to the crowd even if there were plenty of haters there but most of them were drowned out by the supporters and fans that made up the majority.
"I want a good clean fight; try and do your best to hold back Homelander and no heat vision, flying or other powers. Don't get Cage's blood too splattered to the ring." the referee told them as they came up and Homelander was just smirking at Cage.
"Last chance to back out Mr Cage; we could be good sports and get you a role in a future Vought Cinematic Universe project." Homelander offered but Cage looked confident and cocky; he didn't think he was acting arrogant because arrogance implied you couldn't back up your boasting.
"I was gonna punch you in the nabs but I don't want my fist anywhere near where your Nazi bitch girlfriend had in her disgusting mouth." Cage taunted Homelander and he glared at him and mouthed that he was going to pay for that.
The bell rang and Homelander did a lot of showboating and grandstanding for his adoring crowd including the Vought TV crew with him reporting live and Cage motioned towards him while looking at Sonya and Liu as if asking if they could believe him. Homelander the finally went for a punch but Cage using the training that Raiden and Liu put him under to harness the energy within him sidestepped him and punched him hard in the gut.
Homelander had a face of confusion as it was clear that he felt that and Cage followed it up with a strong uppercut at Homelander and it drew blood as his hand it connected. There was confusion from the crowd and Cameron Coleman reporting from the Vought news crew was reporting that Cage actually broke his hand punching Homelander and it made him believe which most of the crowd were starting to believe anyway.
Homelander became enraged like a wounded animal and charged at Cage but he went hard for a punch to the face and he dropped to the ground as the arena were silent; the referee checked and put up his arm about a few times and stood still as Cage was silent. The referee was forced to call it and the main announcer was in disbelief as he called Cage the winner with his arm forced up with Homelander's supporters in stunned silence but his haters began cheering as hard as they could for Cage with him smirking that he was back.
He went out the door and accepted the check for ten million dollars as Homelander got up and was in disbelief before furiously shouting at the referee that it was a farce and began demanding that he reverse the decision. The referee was terrified as Homelander got him up by the collar of his shirt and Vought representatives went in to try and stop him from continuing to make a scene which would be bad for PR.
Homelander ended up throwing him hard through the cage door and he landed on the ground with people checking on the referee with Cage and the Earthrealm Champions looking concerned and open mouthed as the people said that he died on impact. Homelander was in shock and furiously ran out of the cage and snapping at Cage while the Vought people tried to drag him back but he pushed him back.
"Mr Homelander; we know that you are upset but this was obviously a fluke and Mr Cage has obviously been taking some sort of steroid. I bet that you will be taking an appeal to this loss..." Coleman was telling him but the idea of him losing caused Homelander to snap and lose self control as he ended up lasering Coleman's face off with it caught on camera and Homelander began charging at Cage at full flight speed.
Cage ended up doing a heel kick that literally ripped his head clean off to the shock of all involved.
Homelander's tantrum cost Vought dearly and their stock dropped especially as the legal investigation concluded that Johnny Cage was acting in self defence and clean of anything and his victory was secured as legit. The anti-Vought crowd were celebrating and Vought was reeling in disaster especially as major sponsors that had paid to have Homelander endorse their product in just made deals were demanding refunds plus the lawsuits from the families of the referee and Coleman. Vought was now being investigated for their part in this and Ashley Barrett the CEO of Vought was caught trying to flee the country with money stolen from the company and a fake ID. Homelander became more disgraced than Soldier Boy ever was.
The lair of the Boys as they were still going over what to do but their lair was now littered with Johnny Cage movie posters and merchandise. Mother's Milk wearing a Citizen Cage shirt was talking about Todd having no influence in his daughter Janine's life anymore. Turns out that Mother's Milk's ex-wife found out that Todd had secretly stolen all of their savings in order to invest in an up and coming Homelander product and the value was now in the negative numbers. Todd was kicked out of the home, fired from his schoolteacher's job as he blew a gasket all the students saying that Homelander got what he deserved and was caught trying to manhandle a girl in a Starlight shirt. Plus he had to look forward to a lawsuit from his now ex-girlfriend to reclaim all that money.
MM and Janine celebrated by burning all the Homelander posters that Todd put in her room.
"All the reports that we have gotten a hold of says the impossible: Cage is clean of anything resembling Compound V or Temp V." Annie was telling Butcher who was trying to digest this while also wanting to make plans to recconnect with Ryan after all this and to fix his mistakes.
"Mr William Butcher; I must say that I am a fan of your life story. So tragic and anything; I would be open to buying your life story's movie rights and play you." Cage smirked as he entered with Liu and Sonya. The Boys were on high alert but then there was a flash of lightning and Raiden was there having teleported in.
"Your group may think that Homelander and the Compound V created 'superheroes' were the biggest threat to your world but they are small fry compared to what lies beyond your realm. Shao Kahn has not taken Outworld's loss well and plots to invade by force. All of Earthrealm's potential Champions must band together for the coming war." Raiden told them all as they digested this.
"So... I am not the only one who didn't understood a word that Lightning Dude said right?" Frenchie asked.
Made a little reference to how Karl Urban has been casted as Cage in the next live action movie; not the one I would go with but we will wait and see. Personally I would have gone with the Miz or better yet MJF if he can take some acting lessons.
