I don't own PJO, HoO, or ToA, and its character all the rights go to Rick Riordan.
I only own the Original Characters.
On a stormy night, two figures walked towards a house in the middle of the woods. The two figures were cloaked in robes to avoid being seen by any nearby witnesses. When they were close enough to the house, one of the figures stopped and looked towards the other, as if asking a question.
"Are you sure about this?" asked the figure. Its voice was masculine.
"Yes, it's not like we have many options," responded the other figure, her voice sounding feminine.
"We do have some options available."
She replied, "I will not lock him in a cage as if he were some type of monster."
"We are still locking him up, a golden cage still is a cage no matter how you look at it."
The female figure simply glared at the male one, and he sighed before continuing on towards the house. When they were close enough, the male indicated for the other figure to stop.
He got close enough to the house door and knocked three times; immediately he felt a powerful presence on the other side of the door.
"Who is it?" asked the voice of a woman, its voice filled with power and coldness.
"Well, your youngest son is not welcome in your house anymore, Mother," replied the figure.
After that, the door was immediately opened revealing a beautiful woman with green eyes and dark curly hair. That was Rhea, the former Queen of Othrys, who then asked.
"Zeus? Is that you?" she asked.
"Yes, Mother," said Zeus, removing the hood of his robe, revealing his black hair and beard.
"So I can assume you're the one causing this storm, but why? And why are you wearing those clothes? And who is the one with you?" asked Rhea, pointing towards the other figure, who she now noticed was carrying something.
"Mother, this is a conversation that would be better if we had it inside."
After considering her options, Rhea motioned for her son and the figure to enter her house, and after they did, she looked outside one last time before closing the door.
They walked inside until they arrived at the living room, where Rhea promptly took one of the seats and demanded an explanation.
"Well, can you explain now why you are visiting me in the middle of the night while also creating a storm?"
Before her son could explain himself, the mysterious figure decided to speak.
"I believe it is better for me to take care of this, Zeus."
He looked at the figure before nodding and allowing her to handle this part.
The figure finally removed her hood, revealing the face of a beautiful Asian woman. Her long, black hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall, while her eyes seemed to glow as if they were the sun itself. Her skin also appeared to glow slightly, adding even more to her natural beauty.
Rhea couldn't help but slightly raise her eyebrow in surprise.
"Well, well, I never thought I would receive another ruler of gods other than my own son, but that aside, to what do I owe the pleasure of welcoming the ruler of Takemahegara in my humble abode?"
"There's no need for formalities, Lady Rhea. You may call me simply Amaterasu."
"Then please call me just Rhea. The 'Lady' part makes me feel older than I already am."
"Very well," said Amaterasu. "I believe you are curious as to why your son brought me here, aren't you?"
Rhea slowly nodded and looked towards her son, who had already removed his robe. She was surprised that he was wearing more casual clothing beneath it, compared to what he usually wore, and that he was pacing around the room, examining the things she had collected over time.
"First, please keep an open mind for what I am about to show you."
Rhea nodded once more.
With that, she finally removed her robe and revealed what she had been carrying underneath it, and what Rhea saw made her go as pale as her eldest son.
It was a baby god, but it was not that which made her cautious; it was what she felt from it, the child felt Greek, but at the same time it felt Shinto, and this could only mean one thing.
Rhea whispered, "A hybrid." With one hand covering her mouth.
Amaterasu slowly nodded her head.
"How did this happen?" she inquired.
"A lot of drinks," she heard her son say.
Amaterasu glared at Zeus after that.
"And it is our son," she replied.
Rhea rose from her seat to move closer to Amaterasu, so she could see the child better. When she saw it, it became clear that it was indeed the child of her son and the goddess standing before her.
She immediately turned towards her son, whose electric blue eyes seemed to glow with energy as he looked back at her.
"Zeus, do you know what could happen if others find out about this child? Does anyone else on Olympus know about him?" she asked her son, already thinking about the repercussions that this act could cause.
"Yes, Mother," Zeus said, rubbing his forehead with his fingers. "And besides, Hestia, nobody else on Olympus knows about his existence."
This eased her heart for a bit, but she still didn't know what they were doing there.
"Okay, but why are both of you here? You didn't come here just to show him to me."
Amaterasu coughed a little to get her attention again.
"Well, as you know, our world is not kind to beings like him, and while I was able to hide his nature during his gestation, now that he is born, I can't hide him anymore without neglecting my duties with my pantheon. I was hoping if you could please grant him a safe haven in your home."
Rhea looked at her and then at the baby, and when she gestured if she could hold him for a while, she reluctantly handed over her son into Rhea's arms. While Rhea held her grandson in her arms, she couldn't help but be reminded of her own children when they were this small. Unfortunately, she couldn't build many memories with most of them at this age due to their accursed father.
"Mother, are you all right?" she heard Zeus ask.
Rhea nodded her head before sighing and finally coming to her decision.
"Fine," she said, handing the child back to its mother.
Amaterasu's face seemed to glow even more after hearing this.
"But under one condition," said Rhea, stopping Amaterasu before she could say anything. "You two will be a part of this child's life, whenever you two are free from your duties, you will be here, understood?"
Amaterasu replied, "Yes, I understand."
On the other hand, Zeus was quick to express his opinion.
"Mother, you can't be serious. You can't expect me to simply ignore my duties as a God-King and come over there."
"I expect you to come here whenever your schedule allows it, my son," Rhea replied before sighing. "Zeus, I know you usually prefer not to interfere in your children's lives, but this time you have created a god-equivalent of a walking atomic bomb, and we will need your help in raising him."
After staring into her son's eyes, she saw him finally nod.
"Excellent."
But before she could finally calm down, she remembered something very important.
"And before I forget," she said, "what is his name?"
After staring at her sleeping son for a while, she finally responded.
"His name is Genji."
Any constructive criticism is welcome.
