Ch 14 Tonks 11, Let's get Harry
Harry was standing at the window looking out. He knew he had told Tonks that he would wait. Well, he just nodded at her but didn't say a thing. He was wondering, why he was waiting because he just didn't know if he could trust her. His feelings told him he could and that was the only thing that told him, he could. Normally he would trust his feelings but now he had a hard time. The main problem he had with his feelings, were the people that were around her, the people she was working with. His biggest question was, could he trust them? She hadn't said much about the place where she was because she didn't have enough time. But he knew that Sirius was there and that Tonks told him he could trust him. It was something, he wanted to do but again he felt this distance from him. How could he trust them if he was there with the ones he couldn't trust?
He knew Tonks was with the order before she knew about him. It had been the one thing she had told him. So he knew that Albus believed him in some way. It still gave him thoughts of why he was kept in the dark. Especially if Albus knew he was right or thought he was. He wanted to trust the old guy but he couldn't. Something was off and it had been off by the end of his first year. In the end, he just asked the one question of why, Voldemort had said that he and him were alike. It was the one question Albus answered, with a, very strange answer of his own. From that point on the feeling about Albus had been off.
Tonks on the other hand had told him a lot in a couple of words. She didn't like Dumbledore because of what she had seen and heard. She might not have said it in those words but she did in a way. He was the main reason and it only pointed out that his thoughts of not trusting him were right. She also told him there was a group of people that were there and she was a part of it. So most of them were with Dumbledore and knew about him. Now Tonks also told him that he had to do like he didn't know her. It also told him the others were there to watch over him. But they were not allowed to interact with him. Something Tonks had done against his orders. So again, there were a lot more people he could not trust. They might not be bad, but he could not trust them completely.
Hedwig landed on the window still and held out her leg to him. He took the letter and saw that it had been opened before. He unfolded it slowly and took a good look.
Harry, stay there.
I will not be coming around now. but we will pick you up later.
The Muggles will be going away so stay there.
Tonks.
PS: Lord Potter
Your Owl has dropped off your letter with me first.
So I have looked at your letter. and I can tell you Tonks can be trusted.
We can not speak with each other but I'm there for you and will help you where I can Until I can speak with you, one on one.
Gr, Amelia Bones head of the DMLE
PS Greetings from Susan Bones and Neville says hi.
Harry folded the letter back up and gave Hedwig a look. "So you went to the bones with my Letter". Hedwig bobbed her head slowly keeping her big eyes at him. Her eyes were clearly telling him she didn't need him to tell her off because she would not appreciate it. Harry had always known that Hedwig was looking out for him, so he could not blame her. She was his first real friend and she had been with him from the first day he had come into the magical world. "So do you know where I'm going and do you think you can find me?" Hedwig looked at him and turned around. "Right stupid question, of course, you can find me".
Now that he knew she was going to get him out of here he did wonder how they would do it. How would they get him out of here if there could not be any magic in the muggle world? He heard someone knocking on the front door. Harry opened his bedroom door so he could hear what was said while he held his wand in his hand.
"Mr, Dursley I'm sorry to bother you at this hour. But your son has entered a contest with Bigfoot Trucks a long time ago. He came in second but the winner could not attend so he is getting the price. The show is tonight and we are here to take you all to the event with all the food and drinks you can eat.
Harry had to give it to Albus. If you wanted the Durslesys to follow you without a word. You only had to tell them that there would be food. And just like he thought, it was Vernon who could not get his coat on fast enough. Dudley was the same and he had forgotten everything that happened nearly an hour ago and was just thinking about all the things he could eat. Petunia just followed so she could tell the neighbors all about the first price her son had won.
The moment they left Harry let go of his magic. He knew Tonks had told them they would come and get him. She also told him that they would get the Dursleys away with some kind of a trick. But it also meant that he would be alone for some time. So he grabbed his wand a little tighter. If they had done this he knew that he would be out of here in a little while. If not he would be in a big fight, not that long from now.

Tonks was waiting on the final orders. She knew Albus had arranged for someone to get the Dursleys away, but she did not know how he would do it. The only thing she hoped was that Hedwig had been on time to warn Harry, that the Dursleys would be picked up. She did not trust Dumbledore enough to warn Harry before he would do it. If not she knew that Harry would throw every spell he knew at them. She would not blame him either because she too would curse first and ask questions later. Her first thought would be that they were coming for him if he didn't know.
Sirius was sitting at the head of the table looking on. He wanted to help and get his godson home. But it had been Albus who told him he could not be seen. He was still a fugitive and the kiss-on-sight order was still in effect. He knew Albus might not have his best interest at heart but in this case, he was right. If anyone saw him it might be his last day and Harry would not like that.
His eyes found the eyes of Tonks and he wanted to ask her to look after him. But she had told him she had to do it like she didn't know him. It was hard for him but he knew Harry could do it. When he got a moment none was looking he had her hand in his hand for a moment.

Susan sat next to Hannah as she watched her aunty let go of Hedwig by the open window when she turned back to the table and sat down, Susan just had to ask her. "Aunty, What will happen now".
Amelia took her cup and took a sip. She looked at both girls and gave a little sigh. "It all depends on how Albus gets the muggles away. If he is smart he will tell Harry before he does it. If not we can hope Harry does not react first, but thinks about it before he does".
"Harry will react first and he does not care. Harry has been separating himself from his friends and Albus. We do not know why but after the third task he started and he only went to Neville and a little to us. Like we said before Harry has changed and he knows more than any of them know".
"You mean he is that powerful" Amelia asked as she gave her niece a pointed look.
"No, he is strong, yes but it is different, Like he is using some kind of magic that is not his".
The first thing Amelia thought about was Morgana. She had heard the stories and also what Andromeda had told her. If he was using her magic then he was special, very special. It was also then that she remembered what Susan had said before Hedwig came in. "You said Harry was in the infirmary more than any other boy". Both Hannah and Susan nodded at her.
With a couple of words of I'll be back in an hour, Amelia got to her feet and walked over to the Floo.
#*
Poppy Pomfrey was walking through her infirmary. She always stayed at Hogwarts during the holidays just to make sure, everything was in its place and all the potions were filled up for the following year. As she walked passed a bed that was near her office she stopped. Just like every day she looked at it and wondered if the boy would use it again next year. Well, she was almost sure about it. His home life was hard and it was one of the things she always wanted to bring to the aurors. But the oath she did for Hogwarts kept her from it. It allowed her to talk about it, but only when she was asked and when it was at Hogwarts. Everything on the outside was forbidden. It was the one thing she hated about magic. Every oath had its penalties and mostly it was on your magic. Magic did help you to keep the oath, but it also kept you from breaking it when you had a good argument.
As she sat down on the bed she was thinking of placing a name tag on it. Harry James Potter had a nice ring to it but it was the last thing she would do. Sometimes she told him she would do it as a joke but she never would. Every time he came in he had done something heroic, A real hero because he never talked about it. He didn't have to because her medical scans told her enough. It had told her he wasn't treated right at the place he lived. It was the one thing she told Albus. It was better the next year but that was only because he wasn't at home that long. His body was of a working man with a lot of wear. She took care of it when he got to her the first time but it still troubled her. He was also malnourished but that was helped with some potions.
As she rubbed her hand along the sheet she thought about his first year, He had done a lot and when she heard he had killed a Professor, she knew that there was more to the story than what Albus told them. In his second year, he lost his bones and in the end, he was bitten by a basilisk. Her scans had told her so. Not only did he have Basilisk venom in his blood but also Phoenix tears. It balanced it out but it was running through him. It was one of the things she had to keep an eye on because it was something that never happened. Never in history had there been a person who had been healed by a Phoenix tear? Never had there been a person who survived a Basilisk bite complete with venom running through the bite. Now in all of history, she had a boy who had both running through him.
She wanted to keep him here and monitor him because no one knew what it would do to him. As she gazed into her office she could see her desk behind the open door. On it were the prophets from the last week. She had read all of them and knew that whatever was said was a lie. She believed the boy when he said he was back. She hoped he was wrong but she doubted it. After last year and all that had been done to him. She knew he was the one who could do it. If the Darklord was back, he could defeat him. If he could escape after the fight he had, then he could win when he was fresh.
"Poppy, can I come through".
"Poppy heard a voice coming from her office. There were a few people who knew she would work through the holidays. She had enough with a free day here and there. For those who knew there were only four who would contact her. One was Andromeda if she needed some information about healing. Then there was Minerva if she wanted to go for a drink. There was always Albus who checked up on her at very odd moments of the day. The last was Amelia, who would only contact her when she had a muggle-born with medical troubles. She walked to her office and saw the head of Amelia. "Hi Amy, what do you want" Poppy asked.
"Hi Poppy, I want to come through because I have something to ask you that you can only answer at Hogwarts". Poppy knew that Amelia was a woman who didn't beat around the bush so to speak. She also knew that Amelia knew about the oath of Hogwarts, which basically meant that whatever happened at Hogwarts was not talked about on the outside. Amelia stepped through and didn't wait, "I have some questions about Harry James Potter. I know you will have some too but I will not answer you. What you do not know you can't talk about".
Poppy smiled as she looked at how Amelia, walked into her office but frowned when she started with Harry. How did Amelia know she had been thinking about him only a moment ago? I'm not sure what you want with that boy but he is not lying when he".
"I know he is not, Susan and Hannah have made a very good point when they defended him. So I only hope he has seen something that is different than he thought he saw".
Poppy shook her head. "Mr, Potter doesn't see things that aren't there. If he says it is him then it is him. I believe him when he said it, just like I did with the basilisk and the Dementors. Mr, Potter is not lying and he isn't one, who goes around telling it to anyone just to look important or heroic".
Amelia heard it all and wondered what Mr, Potter had done to deserve the trust he got from Poppy. While she thought about it she wondered why he got the trust from Susan, Hannah, and Tonks. "Why do all of you trust him so much".
"Simple," Poppy told her. "Mr, Potter doesn't ask anything and he respects his friends. He is one of a kind and thinks of others before he thinks about himself. The problem is he hurts himself by doing so".
"You mean when he killed the Professor and when he said he killed a snake that hasn't been heard of in a thousand years".
"Quirelle was possessed by He who must not be named. The night he came to me he was magically exhausted. In his second year, he did kill the basilisk. I know because he was bitten by it and healed by a Phoenix. He now has both of them running through his veins, the potion, and the antidote".
"He can't live through that," Amelia asked shocked.
"Until now he has and he is doing remarkably well. I have been monitoring him every year from the day he got into the castle, till the moment he went away. He has the power to do it and he has the power for the Dementors, not over the Dementors but the power to kill them. I have heard the headmaster speaking of it and I also know that is why you came here. Mr, Potter is an enigma we will only figure out when he lets us".
"Those are big words," Amelia told her, "Who says I haven't figured out Mr, Potter yet".
"None of us have, not even the headmaster," Poppy said with a smirk. "From the first day, he walked into these hallways he had an aura around him I hadn't seen before. It wasn't bad or good it was different". It was again that Amelia thought about the magic from Morgana. Somehow she found it hard to believe but the more she heard the more it pointed that way. "Mr, Potter has grown up faster than you and me, he is an old soul in a young body. He had seen the horror of life before he knew what it was. I have put him back together more times than I wish I had. Still, his magic has helped me along. It is very strong but it was never as strong as it had been in his first year. Something was different than it has been in the last years".
Amelia heard it all and thought back at the words her niece had spoken to her. In their first year, it had been Tonks and Harry who had been searching each other out. Unknown to both of them but they did it on instinct alone. "Do you think it might have been Tonks". She just said the words and looked at the look Poppy would get. She didn't know if it would trigger anything but she just had to look if her thought was right.
"Tonks" Poppy mumbled, "You mean Andromeda's kid". Amelia nodded and saw Poppy shaking her head, "No she and Harry were never together. I would not know why you would think of her, but I never even seen them talk". Poppy stopped and looked for something to drink for the both of them. When she held up a teapot she stopped again. Her eyes unfocused as she thought about something. "The weird thing is, That they never talked to each other but every time Mr, Potter was brought in, she came in with a headache. It repeated every time he was in here but she was under a lot of stress, you know with the exams and all of that".
Amelia didn't react but it was clear that Susan and Hannah had seen something none of the adults had seen. It still might mean nothing or it might mean a lot. Amelia shook her head and went on. "Could you tell me what was wrong with Mr Potter from the day he arrived at the castle".
Poppy gave a very deep sigh as she sat down. "Well, physically he was alright, very malnourished and he had worked. Physically I mean like he had to work from a young age. If I didn't know any better, he was treated like a house elf. I know, because he has the same wounds and scrapes they have when they are abused by dark families".
"What do you mean by if you didn't know any better" Amelia asked when she heard Poppy say just that.
"He was raised with love and good care. Albus always told us he was a wonderful boy and he kept a good eye on him. His body told me that wasn't true at all" Poppy said with a pointed look.
From everything Amelia had heard, good care was not one of them. It was also the first time she heard that Albus was not only keeping Harry and Sirius in the dark. He had clearly been lying to the rest of them. She did wonder if Albus had looked n on him at all. If he did he would have known the things Tonks had seen. Maybe he did but he just didn't care. "Poppy" Amelia started but she hesitated to ask the next thing she thought about, still, she did. "If you look at the way Harry Potter is when he gets into the castle, would you still say he was well taken care of".
"NO, I would not, If you did not ask the question I would tell you it was a lie. Mr. Potter has been worked like a slave it was visible by all the wounds he has. He didn't get enough food or he would have been better. I have been taking care of him and treated him the best I could. Still, after every holiday he came back worse than he left. Magically he was stronger and after the last task, he was even better. I do not know what happened but it looked like he had clearance. Like he understood everything around him".
"Then there is only one question I have left for you. I heard from my niece that Mr, Potter has killed a Professor, a troll. He defeated a sixty-foot basilisk and chased away about a hundred Dementors. Would you say he could have done it or not".
"Yes he could, I do not know if it had been sixty feet or if it were a hundred Dementors because I did not see them or count them. But if there was one student who could, he would be the only one".
"Do you believe he did all that".
Poppy just nodded at Amelia, it took another couple of seconds before she said, "Mr, Potter is a lot but he does not lie or seek attention. He just does it like it is normal. So now I do have a question for you. You are searching for answers about Mr, Potter, and Voldemort is a little part of it".
"Yes" Amelia told her. "I can't tell you anything as you know, but there is a lot we hear that is not right. I do wonder if it is all true and if it is then we can't win another war. The way we are fighting among ourselves. Tells me that we all be ready for the slaughter".
Poppy just smiled, "I do not think it will be that bad. we can trust on Mr, Potter to take care of it, only we have to help him because he can not do it alone. But to get it done he must have people who trust him and who he can trust".
"You really think he is the boy who lived, don't you" Amelia asked.
"I know, and I trust him because I have seen him overcome the unthinkable. A twelve-year-old boy defeating a Basilisk, where have you seen that before? Losing all of his bones in one hand, and not a remark of pain when I regrew them. Now he has something special that I'm sure of. If I only think about every year. In his first year.
Amelia just sat there drinking her tea as Poppy went on telling her all the injuries Potter had reserved at Hogwarts over the years.

Tonks was slowly getting impatient as time went on. She knew Albus had confunded a Muggle to get them to some event by a limousine. He also got them tickets for an all-you-can-eat arrangement. She did not know how, or how he had paid for it. But that was the least of her thoughts. The only thing she wanted to know now was to know who went to get him, and if she would be a part of it. Then she also wanted to know who was going with her and if Harry could pull off the surprise of seeing them.
As she looked at the Klok she knew the muggles had been taken away. It had been two hours and Albus would get back at any minute. When he did he would say who would go and who would not. At eleven at night, he walked in with Severus on his heels. It took all of her willpower to not jump up and hex the living daylight out of him.
Albus sat down at the head of the table and looked at all of them in a sad way. Tonks knew that getting Harry here was the last thing he wanted to do. But Sirius told him and as his godfather, he had no reason to disobey it. After a deep sigh he started, "We will get Harry at midnight. Severus will be first".
"There is no way Severus is going to get my godson" Sirius screamed. Tonks gave a deep sigh because she was happy Sirius did it or she would have done it herself. "He hates Harry and Harry hates him so there is no way he will trust him when he gets there. I say take Remus". Tonks had a small hope that he would say her name, but when he didn't she was happy at the last moment. At first, she was disappointed but her mind worked fast and she understood it at the last moment. By telling Albus to take Remus, she knew he would not and he would take her instead.
Albus could not disagree with Sirius. He knew Severus had a hatred for the boy, he tried to stop it but it never worked. He only hated the boy for what his father had done. That Harry hated him back was also understandable. Severus had not been easy on the boy and had blamed him for a lot. Still, Albus was of the opinion that Harry needed to respect his betters. On the other hand, he needed this house to have a place for the order. He could have them stay at Hogwarts but he wanted some peace and quiet time for himself. It was something he could not have if he had Molly around him all day.
"All right" he started. Mad-Eye, Kingsley, Remus, and Tonks can go and get him. I will be coming back here at two in the morning. I will make sure that the rest of the order is here too. Then I will tell you all how it will go further". It was right after he said those words he left with Severus rushing after him.

Harry was standing near the window when he heard an Apparation bang at the end of the street. He had seen how the Dursleys had been taken away by some person in a big black car. At the mention of food, both Vernon and Dudley had forgotten everything. The only thing they wanted was food and it would be the reason for their end someday. If it had been one of Voldemort's men they would have followed him just like that. Here have a chicken wing and they would jump if they could.
Harry listened on as he heard footsteps coming closer. He could hear Four Sets of feet stepping towards him. He was glad he had locked all the doors. It would not stop them but it did by him some time. It would also tell him if they were patient or not. If they blasted the door open he would attack and he would attack hard.
#*
Tonks appeared behind Remus, who was the last in line. Mad-Eye was in front and he was acting like they were on the biggest battlefield he knew. LOOK LEFT LOOK RIGHT he shouted. "Maybe you should be a little more silent or the enemy might hear us" Tonks mumbled. Mad-eye didn't react but Remus snorted.
At the front Door Mad-Eye tapped his wand on the doorknob and it swung open. "He is in his room," Mad-Eye told them as they walked into the house.
Tonks knew he would be waiting there because she had asked it of him. Still, she felt his magic reaching out to her so she knew that he knew she was there. "Professor is that you" Harry asked frightened as she stepped into the view on the top of the stairs with his wand in his hand.
As Harry came down Tonks could see he was a shy and frightened kid. Damn, he is good, she thought. "I don't think you can call me Professor because I never really taught you anything". Tonks heard Mad-Eye telling him. Harry looked around at the four of them and even at her. There was no sign that he recognized her and she started to wonder if this was the real Harry. When he lifted his wand at Kingsley she had to smirk,
"Take it easy Harry" Remus called out to him. "We are here to take you away and to another place".
"Yeah, come let me help you," Tonks said as she rushed past Remus. "I'm Tonks and you are hot". Harry blushed a little and didn't know how to react to her words. "I bet you have every girl at Hogwarts running after you". As the others watched her go up the stairs they started to look around. "Which one is your room" they heard her calling from upstairs.
Harry had waited halfway down the stairs and looked at how she went past him. When she asked about the girls at Hogwarts he realized she was putting up an act that she didn't know him. "What are you all doing here and who is that" Harry asked as he pointed with his thumb over his shoulder.
"Harry" Remus started, "We heard about the attack on you and are here to get you away".
Tonks had stopped just out of sight as she listened on. She had hoped Harry got her drift and was now waiting for what he was going to do. When she heard him ask why they were here she had to give it to him, he did fine. She wanted to facepalm herself when she heard the words from Remus but knew Mad-Eye could be watching so she didn't.
"So, all summer I ask for help or any kind of news, I got none. Now that I had a little fight you all come rushing to get me out. Where were you when the dementors were here? Why now and not when I needed you". Nice one kid, Tonks thought as she heard him asking it. "It sounds to me like I can't trust any of you. At least the nice girl with the pink hair is here to help me with something". AAHH Thonks thought as she heard Harry telling them he liked her more. "Not sure if she is any good but at least she is trying". You little shit. Harry didn't need to know Tonks to know she would be screaming at him if she got to chance. But he had to give her a jab back for her you're hot comment. So with his wand still pointed at Remus and the others, he started to go up. "I'm not going, I will be safer on my own, I know I can't count on you when I need you, so just let me be".
This was it again for this time see you all in two weeks.
