Ch. 145: Daddy's Home Part 2
Before Magneto could attack the two scientists, Wanda and Pietro stood in front of them to defend them. This puzzled Magneto, especially as Wanda boldly professed, "If you want them, you'll have to go through us!"
"My dear Wanda, I wish not to fight you and your brother." Magneto tried to tell her in a coaxing tone, but to no avail.
"Too bad we do," Pietro stated as he got in a runner's stance.
Just before the twins could face off against their estranged father, a shot reverberated from a different part of the chamber, and a high-caliber bullet bounced off Magneto's magnetic shield. Everyone looked off to where the shot was fired and saw the rest of the NIP bodyguards standing and waiting to battle the villain.
Lady Nagat, who fired the shot, called out to the kids, "We'll take it from here. Protect the doctor and professor and get them to the safe room. It's the only place he can't break into."
The two looked at one another and then at the bodyguards. They nodded and grabbed one of the men each before running to the still-opened panic room door. However, the metal around the door broke, causing the opening to become nearly closed off.
"You're not going anywhere," Magneto announced as he began to float towards them.
However, a fast-moving object hit his back and not only cut through his armor but left a large gash in his flesh! Magneto cried out in pain and fell to the ground as Barkand ran towards him with arm blades at full reach, ready to slice him apart!
"But you'll be going everywhere." Barkan snarled as he readied to reduce the man to mince meat.
However, just before Barkan could gore him on his blades, he stopped as if an invisible force was holding him, and Magneto stood up while boastfully stating, "That's quite a lot of metal inside of one being." Barkan tried to fight back with all he had, but Magneto used this quirk to restrain and lift him into the air while saying, "You sorta remind me of some other snarling wild man with metal claws."
Then, with one swift motion, he flung Barkan into a wall and vibrated his own metal bones until he passed out. Suddenly, Magneto was hit from behind by a massive force and was sent flying off! His back wound opened even more, and he winched at the pain. However, he quickly used his quirk and the metal in his body to close the wound. Once he was stitched up, he had but a moment to act as Dante came at him in his full demonic form!
Magneto put up a magnetic shield and blocked the punches, hoof kicks, claw strikes, and tail whips. Magneto then used several sheets of metal to bin the demon, only to watch as he casually ripped the thick metal like it was paper. Magneto then tried to use shards of metal to pierce his skin, but his skin was so tough that the shards bounced right off. Any that managed to break through were melted, and the wounds closed in seconds!
Magneto tried to hook his hooves and legs from the metal around him, but Dante increased his body temperature so much that the metal melted right off! Eventually, he went full defensive with his magnetic shield, but Dante breathed a steam of fire so hot that the magnetic field fell the moment the fire ended! With Magneto already on the verge of heat stroke, Dante grabbed him in his massive hands and prepared to finish him off with another fire-breathing attack!
Just before the old man could get reduced to ash, he sensed that there was metal below them and an open chamber. So, with all his might, he used this quirk to break off two thin yet sharp metal spike flies and pierce the demonic man's wings, preventing him from using them. Dante dropped the man from the pain and tried to grab the metal pieces out quickly but couldn't reach his own back. This gave Magneto enough time to open the floor under him and cause the devil to fall straight through and down an unknown amount of feet!
Just then, Magneto caught sight of Nagat aiming her sniper at him, and Magneto, proud as ever, stood perfectly still, waiting to stop the bullet mid-flight and send it back. Unfortunately, that never happened as his quirk stopped the bullet and instead shot his helmet clean off his head!
Magneto was so stunned by this that he fell to the ground and grabbed at his bare head!
He looked up at the woman who was reloading her arm gun and barely whispered, "Impossible."
"You didn't think my rifle and bullets were made of metal, did you?" Nagat gloated with a smile as she aimed for another headshot.
However, Magneto broke out of his stupor and used his own helmet to block the shot! Nagat was marginally impressed by this, so she switched to semi-automatic and used air walk to gain some height so he couldn't use the metal around her feet! She unloaded the clip on him, and Magneto managed to use a plate of metal to shield himself against her assault!
He then used all the metal around him to form a protective dome while Nagat tried and failed to pierce it. So she got tired of trying to wait him out and decided to bust him out. Using a charge shot, she busts the dome open and air walks toward it to see the end result, only to find nothing. Suddenly, the ceiling fell onto him, pinning her to the ground. Magneto then rose from an opening in the hallowed underside of the room.
As he rose from the ground, he closed the opening he had hidden underneath and told her, "But the rest of you appear not to be resistant to metal."
Magneto trunks around and sees both Rappa and Goto standing and waiting for their turn to take a crack at him. Magnetro scoffs before them and says, "Another couple of brutes. I hope you're more of a challenge than Colossus or Juggernaut."
Suddenly, the two men run at him with their quirks at full power, and Magneto fits the metal around their feet to trip them, only for the men to break cleanly from it like it wasn't even there! He next tried a wall of metal, and they broke through that! Then he flings sharp shrapnel at them, and they appeared unaffected by the man cut on their bodies! As a last resort, he uses his magnetic shield, but instead of holding the attack back, they break straight through it, hit him, and send him hurtling into a wall so hard that he nearly passes out! Gagging to catch his breath!
The two men snicker at the old man, and Goto sinisterly smirked while grinning with all his teeth as he vexed, "What's wrong, oldtimer? Did we knock the wind outta ya?"
"Couldn't handle my ultimate spear? Too bad. I thought your shield was tougher than that." Rappa adds in while his arms begin to rotate.
Magneto eventually catches his breath and spits out blood as he makes his helmet fly back onto his head and states while flying into the air, "It seems I should stop playing nicely."
Rouge was pushed through a portal by the pink woman, and once they were on the other side of the portal, she found herself in a different testing chamber. However, her would-be attacker was in way over her head as she quickly grabbed it. The woman flew to the other end of the chamber and slammed her hard into the metallic wall, making sure the hole was tight so she didn't teleport away.
Raising a fist and preparing to punch her, Rogue yelled, "Stay down if you know what's good for you-." But She stopped halfway as she realized who the woman was and said in confusion, "Clarice?"
The woman, now known as Clarice, pulled down her hood as Rogue let go of her and said, "Hello, Anna. You look well."
Rogue studied her face for a brief moment and saw how she looked completely uneasy as if she was trying to make a hard decision but couldn't. "Wish I could say the same thing bout you, honey. You look like a dog after it got too close to a combine and can't even trust cars no more." Rogue commented.
Clarice rubbed her arm and admitted, "And I feel exactly like that."
"Then why are you still working for Magnus? I showed you my thoughts before I left. You must've realized what you're doing is wrong?" Rogue prompted as Clarice turned away from her.
Rogue tried poking and prodding at her a bit more. So eventually, the pink woman exclaimed, "Because it's all I've known!" Rogue was stunned and initially taken aback but stayed silent as Clarice aired her grievances and admitted, "I'm scared of change. Magneto is a strong leader; he makes me feel powerful. Like I can do all he says I can."
"I know that feeling all too well." Rogue consoled her while placing a hand on her shoulder.
"It's hard to break away, even if I feel as if my choices are in question," Clarice explained while looking at the ground and hugging herself.
"But that's when you have to make one!" Rogue exclaimed as she pulled the woman in her direction to look at her face-to-face. "If you don't make up your mind, you'll just keep questioning yourself till you can't trust anything." Rogue tried to convince her, but she watched Clarice continue to look away and at the ground with an unsure expression. So Rogue explained, "I've learned a lot since my time away. More than I can put into words. I know Magneto has a point, but he lost that point long ago. Me and you both know it. He's so poisoned by revenge that he's blind to seeing he's the thing he's fighting."
For a long time, Clarice did not say a single word. She just continued to look away with differing expressions of discomfort as she hugged herself hard enough to almost start breaking her skin. Finally, she appeared to make up her mind and asked Rogue, "At least let me try to persuade him."
Rogue gave a small, understanding sigh and told her, "Give it your best shot, sugah."
When Magneto was finished, both Rapa and Goto lay on the ground unconscious after their short but powerful battle with the master of magnetism. Magneto, out of breath but still holding strong, floated down from the air and stood before the two unconscious men while wiping off his bleeding nose.
"I must say, that fight was far more than what I was expecting. I almost thought I'd die a time or two." He told them in an impressed tone. Just then, he hears the sound of struggling and metal trying to be moved. He looks over to see Egon and Izuku trying to move and bend the metal, blocking the panic room to escape. He causes the metal to shoot out two spikes, almost piercing the two men as he asks, "And where do you think you're going?"
Before he could do the two scientists, a pink portal opened up, and Blink walked through, yelling, "Lord Magnus, stop this!"
Magneto turned to the woman and saw her and Rogue coming side by side and said with a jovial tone, "Ah, Blink, my dear, you've brought Rogue back to our side."
"I've not done that. I beg you to stop this madness!" Blink begged him.
"Madness?" Magneto questions.
"Don't you see what we're doing is wrong? What we've been doing is wrong." Blinks asked him, making the man raise an eyebrow, so she continued to explain, "Before we liberated innocent mutants. Destroyed facilities with anti-mutant tech and weapons. Took out politicians trying so hard to cause fearmongering. But now, we attack innocent people, destroy residential areas, and do so much more. Don't you see we've lost the point of our revolution? Now we attack people who have nothing to do with us."
"It is for the greater good." Magneto tried to argue.
Blink looked incredulous at his response and stated, "Greater good? What's so great and good about acting like terrorists and causing more harm for both mutants and humans?"
Magneto, now suspicious and irritated, rose into the air and slowly floated towards her while asking, "Are you questioning your loyalty, Blink?"
"I'm questioning your objectivity. And my name is Clarice Ferguson." Blink exclaimed.
Only for a large sheet of metal to rip up out of the ground and flatten the pink woman against it. Seemingly crushing her in an instant! Rogue gasped in shock as she jumped away, and even the other people still present and awake gasped at the site.
Magneto gave a sad sigh and said, "A shame you took this path."
"A shame you didn't listen to reason." Said Blink's voice from behind him. Before the man could turn around, Blink had created several psionic teleportation needles and stuck them into several locations on his body, causing his muscles in those regions to disappear and leaving the man limp suddenly. Blink then held Magneto up and called out, "Now, Rouge!"
Rogue flew into Magneto at top speed and grabbed his face. Before planting a kiss on him, she said, "Gonight, sugar."
The moment she pulled away, Magneto looked completely unaffected by her and said with a smug smile, "You should know your powers do not affect me, my sweet."
Rogue let out an exasperated sigh and exclaimed, well-blowing a lock of hair from her face, "Then I guess we're doing this the ugly way."
Then, in one swift motion, she punchedMagnetoo hard in the face, but luckily, he managed to move his head enough for his helmet to block the attack and send him flying out of Blink's arms. When he fell, Blink's needles disappeared, and his muscles returned, allowing him to move once more.
As he gets up, he sees Blink firing arrows from her bow while Rogue flies at him, ready to pummel him. However, he manages to block the attacks by lifting sections of the metal floor and roof, blocking the arrows, and forcing Rogue to bust through instead of attacking. This gave him enough time to retaliate as he caused a section of the ceiling to pin down Rogue.
Unfortunately, Rogue was still much stronger and managed to lift the ceiling section off of her body untilMagnetoo caused the metal to soften and fall over her like a liquid. The metal then immediately hardened, casting her in a thick metallic cocoon. Rogue tried to break free, but with how thick the metal was, it was like trying to break out of super glue.
BeforeMagnetoo could rest, he found himself beset by Blink, who was jumping out of multiple portals and trying to shoot him with psionic arrows. Blink was good, too, and he knew that very well as he taught the girl himself, so she knew all of his moves and weaknesses. She made sure not to stay in the same place twice. Always moving. Always firing from different angles to try and confuse him.
And for what it was worth, it was starting to work asMagnetoo suddenly started to take a few hours to several parts of his body. ButMagnetoo was going easy on her, and eventually, he got sick and tired of trying to play nice and put an end to their game of cat and mouse. WhileMagnetoo did trust his subordinates, that doesn't mean he trusts them 100%, so he used the metal all over her outfit to control her movements, and eventually Blink was caught before being unceremoniously slammed and knocked unconscious into a nearby wall.
With the last two lines of defense out of his way, he looked to take on the scientists. However, he found that in his time-fighting Rogue and Blink, Izuku had managed to go to a secret wall panel and pull out a high-tech blaster. He aimed the blaster at the floating man and yelled, "Hey, Magneto!" Magneto turned to him and had barely a moment to put up a magnetic shield as he yelled, "Eat, blaster!"
Suddenly, Izuku shot the blaster at full power at the man. Luckily, his magnetic shield managed to block the initial attack. However, he soon figured out that the blaster was much more powerful than his magnetic shield and was quickly starting to break through, so he used his magnetism to send several smaller chunks of metal into the beam to try to fight it back.
A stalemate occurred when Izuku fired non-stop, and Magetoo tried to pick up any small debris left behind while quickly running out. When he finally did run out, he was left at the mercy of the Hi-Tech gadget, blasting him in the body and pinning him to the wall as Izuku slowly approached, making the beam more concentrated and powerful with each step! Just when it seemed like things were going their way andMagnetoo would either fall unconscious or have a whole blast clean through him, something changed.
Eventually, the blaster stopped functioning, turning red hot, sparking, and steaming. Izuku shook and slapped the blaster, trying to get it to work, and yelled, "Oh, come on, don't overheat now!"
Magneto got back up to his feet on shaky legs and let out a ragged breath from having a concentrated beam pushed on his chest. He yelled out, "You will pay for that!"
Using his quirk, he caused the blaster in his hand to disassemble and use all the small parts to try and pepper the boy with them until he died! However, he never got the chance as the parts were stopped in mid-air by red energy, and a super-speed object grabbed Izuku. When he next appeared, he was back over to Egon's side with the other girls.
Magneto was confused at first but quickly realized what had happened when he saw his two oldest children standing before him. In confusion, he said, "Wanda, Pietro?"
"You will not harm him. So long as we draw breath." Wanda pronounced as red energy glowed around her hands.
"I won't fight you, my cMagneto," Magneto argued back, narrowing his eyes.
"Then this should be easy." Pietro boasted while smiling.
And so the battle between generations began.
