Chapter 48: Battle for the Allspark, Part 5.

Nightprowler ran over to the battlefield and gazed in horror at what he saw. Megatron stood there, holding the Allspark in his left hand and the injured Optimus Prime by the throat in his right. All the Autobots and Decepticons on the scene had paused in horror and awe, respectively.

"Now, who's first?" Megatron asked, his sadistic smile gleaming.

"NO!" cried Nightprowler. He rushed in and pulled out his sword, preparing to swipe at Megatron. He leaped up into the air…

Turning around, Megatron dropped Optimus from his right hand and used it to grab Nightprowler by the leg. He moved his arm down to the ground and slammed Nightprowler to the canyon floor, then he did it again, and again, and again.

"Hah hah yeah!" Cheered Quicksand as he witnessed the beatdown Megatron gave to his rival.

"Autobots move!" Prowl shouted. He ran out firing acid pellets all around, stunning the Decepticons. Hot Rod, Hound, and Sunstreaker moved in following.

"Guys!" Thalia shouted.

"Stay in cover where it's safe!" Hot Rod shouted back to her.

"But–"

"We got this!" Hot Rod said assuringly.

Just then he heard a cry of pain as Megatron slammed Nightprowler onto Hound, knocking them both to the ground; neither of them got up right away.

"I hope…" Hot Rod muttered. He turned and began shooting at the Decepticon leader, but the shots bounced off of him.

"Do you...need our help, boss?" Skywarp asked as he, Quicksand, Soundwave, Thundercracker, and Starscream watched Megatron's rampage in fear and amazement.

"No, don't worry, Skywarp." Megatron stated as he backhanded a charging Hot Rod. "It's been too long since I let loose," he finished coldly.

Prowl and Sunstreaker both charged in together straight at Megatron, intending to attack him at the same time, but the Decepticon leader grabbed them both mid-charge. He slammed the two Autobots together, and they collided with a massive, sickening crashing sound.

Prowl and Sunstreaker both slumped to the ground; Megatron leaned forward and took Sunstreaker in his right arm by the throat. "Weakling…"he taunted.

Sunstreaker suddenly and quickly brought his rifle up and fired it at Megatron's head. Megatron growled in pain as the lasers grazed him, leaving burn marks.

"You want a piece of me!?" cried Sunstreaker. "YOU WANT A PIECE!?"

"Yes. I do." Megatron said. He lifted Sunstreaker in the air, with one hand grabbing his shoulders and the other grabbing his legs. He pulled as the sound of stretching and creaking metal sounded, and Sunstreaker screamed in pain. "In fact," Megatron said gleefully "I'll take two!"

"Streak!" cried Hot Rod. He tried to run forward to save his friend, but Quicksand thought fast and shot Hot Rod in the back of the leg before he could. Hot Rod fell to the ground, unable to move.

Sunstreaker's body finally gave in as Megatron succeeded in ripping the Autobot into two halves. He tossed the two halves aside and lunged for Prowl.

Prowl's head started to clear just in time, and he dodged out of the way. He brought his sword out and slashed at Megatron, but the Decepticon leader deployed his energon mace from his right hand, now glowing an even brighter shade of purple than usual thanks to the power of the Allspark. He swung it at Prowl to block his sword, and the mace cut right through it.

Prowl's sword fell apart in two halves. The display of power shocked Prowl so much he was stunned into silence. He just stood there, starting at his sword hilt.

"Prowl, do something!" called Annabeth.

But Prowl just stood there; he was wracked with indecision, unsure of what to do.

"Not good with improvisation, are we Prowl!?" asked Megatron.

Before Prowl could give him an answer, Megatron uppercutted the Autobot, sending Prowl flying into the canyon wall.

"PROWL!" cried Annabeth. She charged from her hiding space, bringing her knife out with her.

"Annabeth wait!" cried Luke.

Annabeth didn't listen; instead, she just ran up to Megatron and stabbed him right in the leg. Her celestial bronze knife dug deep into the Decepticon leader. Megatron let out a howl of pain and shock at such a small weapon doing so much damage.

Annabeth moved her knife down, and Megatron's howl of pain intensified. "Get this infernal bug off me!" he ordered.

"As you command." Soundwave responded. As he moved forward to seize Annabeth with his left hand. Annabeth saw him coming and ducked the snatch, but she wasn't fast enough to avoid his right hand grabbing at her, and once again she found herself in the arms of a Decepticon.

"Seriously!?" Annabeth exclaimed. "Why does this keep happening to me?!"

"Okay, now I'm charging in." Luke said, pulling out his sword as he started running towards Soundwave.

"Right behind you!" Thalia replied as he put her spear forward.

The two didn't get far before with a VOP; Skywarp teleported right in front of them.

"You two aren't going anywhere!" he said as he reached for the two. As his hand got closer, Luke swiped at it with his sword, slashing off two of Skywarp's fingers, causing him to scream in pain. "My hand!" he shouted.

"Will you two just die already!?" Starscream shouted. He raised his foot, intending to squish the pair, but the two ducked and rolled out of the way.

Meanwhile, the other Autobots were still trying to deal with Megatron. Hot Rod tried to tackle him, but Megatron just caught the Autobot in midair and slammed him on the ground. Hound got up and tried to shoot Megatron from behind, but Megatron let out his own shot right back at him. No matter what, the Autobots just couldn't get a leg up on the Decepticon leader.

As she dodged some ensuing laserfire from Starsream, Thalia found herself looking around the battlefield, and in that instant, everything seemed to go into slow motion.

She saw Hot Rod, valiant Hot Rod, getting up again to try to attack Megatron, but Megatron merely kicked him out of the way, Prowl making another failed attack when he grabbed Megatron's arm, but Megatron just tossed him off.

She saw Soundwave holding Annabeth in his grip, her friend struggling to get free.

She saw Luke maneuver away from an attack from Thundercracker.

She saw Optimus on the ground, struggling to get up to help his Autobots but failing to find the strength.

At that moment, something inside her seemed to… snap.

"No," said Thalia quietly. She paused in the middle of the battlefield, letting her head droop.

"Thalia?" asked Luke, concerned.

Then Thalia swerved her head up quickly, her eyes now glowing a bright blue. "NO!" she screamed upwards.

Just then, the massive sound of thunder erupted all throughout the canyon. Grey and black storm clouds came in out of nowhere and blocked the sun; rain started to pour as water fell on everyone.

"What the!? Where'd all these storm clouds come from!?" asked Starscream in disbelief

"I thought it wasn't supposed to rain in the desert!?" asked Quicksand, who was equally confused.

Upon seeing the rain start to pour, Hot Rod looked at Thalia and saw her in the middle of the battlefield, glowing with bright blue energy.

"Whoa," he remarked.

Thalia let out another scream as lighting began to strike everywhere. Bolts came down and struck the canyon floor, leaving small pockets of glass scattered around.

The bolts started coming right down on the Decepticons, sending them scrambling. Soundwave jumped as one struck right near him; in his surprise, he opened his palm, and Annabeth came tumbling out. Once she landed on the ground, she made a mad dash to get away.

More and more lighting bolts came crashing down around them. Thundercracker glanced around, in awe of the amazing power that was on display here.

"Thundercracker, move your tail pipe!" Skywarp shouted as he dodged a lightning bolt coming right at him.

Thundercracker shook his head. "Right, I'm com–" Just then a massive bolt of lightning came right down on Thundercracker, hitting him straight on. Thundercracker let out a howl of pain and agony before collapsing on the canyon floor.

"TC NO!" cried Skywarp.

Even Megatron seemed taken aback by this massive display of power. He turned to look right at Thalia.

"What is this!?" He demanded to know. "What are you?!"

Thalia looked Megatron dead in the eyes and gave a confident glare. "I'm Thalia Grace! Princess of the Storm! Daughter of Zeus!" she declared. She raised her arms, and another round of lighting struck all around the area.

Optimus, from his position wounded on the ground, took all this in. With Megatron distracted, it was the chance he needed.

He pulled every last bit of strength he had into him and got up on his feet. He lunged toward Megatron and grabbed him from behind. Megatron let out a growl.

"You're too late, Prime!" Megatron said. "The Allspark is mine!"

"No. Not yet!" Optimus yelled. He reached his arm toward Megatron's left, the one that had the Allspark in it.

Megatrion's fist clenched around the Allspark just as Optimus's hand got there. Optimus grabbed Megatron's fist.

"I'm never going to let this go, Prime!"

"Who said I wanted to take it!?"

Optimus began to squeeze Megatrion's fist and the Allspark that was within.

"Matrix, forgive me," Optimus said quietly.

"NO! WHAT ARE YOU DOING, PRIME!?" yelled Megatron. His confidence was replaced with sheer terror.

"WHAT I MUST FOR CYBERTRON AND EARTH!" Optimus shouted with defiance.

The Allspark began to fracture with a small cracking sound.

Megatron howled with rage.

Every Autobot and Decepticon who was up and active couldn't look away. Thalia's eyes widened. Luke stepped backwards. Annabeth ran for Prowl, who was picking himself off the canyon wall.

The sounds of cracking got louder and louder, and there was a massive "hum" in the air.

"Uh oh…" Starscream murmured quietly.

"GET CLEAR!" shouted Prowl. He grabbed Annabeth and shielded him with his body. Hot Rod helped Thalia get father away. Hound ran over to Luke and picked him up. Nightprowler, barely conscious on the ground, shielded his eyes. Skywarp and Starscream flew back; Soundwave made a run for it; Quicksand burrowed under the ground.

And then, with a huge cracking sound, a massive blue explosion ripped out from where Optimus and Megatron were. The explosion ripped through the canyon, sending every Transformer there flying backward. The screams of pain echoed throughout the canyon walls.

For a couple of tense moments, there was nothing but silence…

Oh man, what a cliffhanger!
