I thank God for all my inspiration.
Hey, this is my first TLK story. I hope you all like it.
Crowned in Victory
Simba had just finally convinced his mother to let him go to the 'waterhole' as he and Nala began to run though she said "As long as Zazu goes with you."
"No, not Zazu." Simba whined.
"I'll go with them, Ma'am." a young teen lioness with dark brown eyes, grayish fur, dark brown headstrip, and tail tuff came up.
"Thank you Panya, are you sure it's no trouble?" Sarabi asks.
"It's fine, besides if there's trouble it's best I go as well." Panya replied.
"She's got a point, Zazu can't exactly fight off trouble." Sarafina agreed.
"Thank you then, have a safe trip." Sarabi nods.
"We will." Panya nodded back as she followed the cubs.
They both groaned, they knew Panya would never let them out of her sight, it's not that she wasn't fun but she was also pretty protective and a rule follower.
Zazu met up with them soon and as they walked he chatted.
"Step lively, the sooner we get to the water hole the sooner we can leave."
"Oh Zazu let them play, it's kind of hot anyway. It'll be good to keep cool." Panya replied.
"I'm not taking any chances." Zazu then noticed the kids talking and flew down saying.
"Oh just look at you two, little seeds of romance blossoming in the savanna, your parents will be thrilled."
Panya raised a brow, why would they be happy. Did they want their kids together? 'That would be cute.' she chuckled.
"What with you two being betrotheds and all."
"Be what?" Simba asked.
Zazu explained, and well "Ew, Yuk."
"Wait, are you serious Zazu?" Panya's eyes widened.
"I never joke on such matters." he huffs.
"They're a bit young for that don't you think, and shouldn't their parents be the one to tell them that?" She frowns.
"Well I…."
"I can't marry her, she's my friend." Simba explains.
"Yeah it'd be so weird." Nala added.
Panya had to hold back her laugh as Simba mocked Zazu as he prattled on.
"Well when I'm king that'll be the first thing to go." Simba replies.
"Not so long as I'm around." Zazu replied.
"Well in that case you're fired." Simba replied.
Panya laughed as the argument went on, oh this was getting good she wondered how long till Zazu would blow.
But then things got crazy, somehow Simba and Nala had gotten the whole water hole to take part in some sort of musical number.
Panya had to run to keep up and shove them out of the way of any danger they almost got themselves into.
'How can two small cubs cause so much mayhem?'
By the end of it all she had lost sight of the cubs and then she heard Zazu under a rhino.
"Oh no!" She ran up to the rhino and said "Miss please can you get off him, I need his help."
The rhino took a moment to look at her then got up and left.
Panya shook Zazu and he gaped "What, where….?"
"Zazu, they got away. Try to look for them in the air, I'll track by ground."
"Oh, yes of course!" Zazu flew off as she tracked the cubs, where did the two go.
She followed the scent as far as she could and she was not pleased with where it took her.
"Oh no, not there." Panya had been told several times never to come here, that the hyenas roamed around and would eat her if she did.
She bit her lip, looked back and then at the graveyard again. 'If I don't do something now they could die.'
That's when she heard yelling "NO!" she shouted as she rushed in.
Once she got to the screaming she saw the cubs climbing a mountain of bones to escape, Nala was falling down as the hyenas climbed to get her.
"Leave her alone, poachers!" Panya shouted as she rushed forward.
The hyenas were distracted by her and this gave Simba time to scratch the leader and get Nala away.
Panya pounced on one of them and began to bite and claw him.
"Hey, leave Ed alone!" Bonzai called as he went at her.
That wasn't good, one hyena she could take she didn't know about two. She was slammed to the ground but she kept struggling and fighting.
"Enough you idiots, it's the cubs we want." Shenzi called as the two left her there in pain and rushed after the cubs.
"No…" she whimpered, trying to get up.
At this Mufasa rushed over and said "Panya are you okay?"
"The cubs, their after the cubs." Panya pointed with her head.
"Zazu watch her." Mufasa called as he ran.
"Yes sire. Oh Panya, are you okay?"
She hissed and after a moment with tears in her eyes said "No."
"We will get Rafiki when we return."
A moment later the hyenas ran past them and then not long after Mufasa and the cubs came along.
"You're alive!" Panya shouted, then flinched.
"Panya!" The cubs rushed over in worry.
"We're so sorry." Nala snuggled.
"We didn't mean to, I didn't know…" Simba started.
"Enough you two, Panya needs rest." Mufasa helped get her on his back, she whimpered and he apologized as they headed off.
Mufasa wanted to have a word with Simba, but first he had to get Panya back to Pride rock.
TLK
"MY CUB!" Was heard screeching throughout the pride as the lionesses looked to see Panya's mother, Asha, rush over to her as Mufasa set her down.
"What happened?" Asha growled at Mufasa, usually she had great respect for the king but her cub was hurt so she was in a bad mood.
"My son and Nala foolishly escaped Zazu and Panya's watchful eyes to go to the elephant graveyard. If it was not for your daughter I would have lost my son, I owe you a great debt."
"But what about my cub?" she still growled.
"Zazu has gone to fetch Rafiki, she will be fine." Mufasa replied.
"She better be." She laid down next to Panya and began to lick her wounds.
"I'm sorry mom but I couldn't let them get killed." Panya cried.
"No no you didn't do anything wrong I'm so proud of you my cub, you're so brave." Asha calmed her.
With that Mufasa took Simba and Sarafina took Nala.
As this happened Sarabi came to the two and said "Is there anything I can do?"
"I'm just hungry." Panya said, tired.
"Of course dear, Dwala could you…"
"Of course sister." and she went to get a piece of today's kill.
Sarabi sat there and said "You were very brave, I cannot express my gratitude."
"I just did what anyone would." Panya replied, head on the floor from exhaustion.
"My sweet girl, she's not made for this kind of trouble." Asha frowned, Panya had always been somewhat of a nervous cub and tried to do as the adults told her about keeping safe.
She was also…..different then the other cubs.
For one she really liked to use mud to paint, Asha struggled to keep her clean.
Second, she seemed obsessed with the creatures in the land. Observing them and telling others what she saw.
This caused the others her age to tease her as they found her obsessions strange.
But the younger cubs seemed to enjoy her company as she played with them and told them stories.
"Here Panya, eat up." Dwala came with a leg and she perked up "Oh my favorite." she began to devour it and the lionesses smiled, glad to see her in good spirits again.
TLK
The next day Panya was told to stay at Pride rock until she was fully healed. And she didn't disagree, for now she stayed in the shade as the cubs played and the adults chatted.
She was currently observing a caterpillar crawling through the grass when a large paw stepped on it.
"Oops, sorry." a bratty teen voice said. She looked up and it was a yellowish female, Ada. With a couple of her followers.
Ada was a spoiled brat because she was her mothers first cub, so she basically let her get away with almost anything.
"Hey you killed it." Panya glared.
"Oh who cares, it's just a stupid bug. We squish them all the time." a male cub with tan fur and mane stepped on another. This was Mandla, he was strong but not very smart.
"It's against the law to hunt for sport." Panya growled.
"It's just a stupid bug." A brown female with blue eyes rolled them, this was Monifa. She and Panya used to be friends when younger but as they got older the need to fit in settled in and they split apart.
"Every creature from the smallest ant to leaping antelope…."
"Is part of the circle of life. Yeah, yeah we know that already." Ada huffs.
"Then why do you disrespect it?"
"Because it doesn't matter, it's just a bunch of stories the adults tell us to keep us from having fun." Mandla shakes his head.
The other two agreed.
"It's not just stories, I've seen it in work." Panya sat up.
"Oh please now you're just acting crazy." Monifa huffs.
"I'm not, why do you think I look out into the Savanna all day? I see the way everyone lives and thrives, and how the ants eat what we leave behind and….."
"Ugh stop talking." Ada groans.
"Yeah no one wants to listen, let's go girls." Mandla called as they headed off.
Panya sighed, "Why do they hate me?"
"People do not like what they do not understand."
Panya jumped, then looked over and smiled "Rafiki!" she smiled as the old baboon came over.
"Did you stay the night?"
"Rafiki's getting too old to travel all the time." he stretched as he took a seat next to her. "So you know the circle of life pretty well." he smiles.
"Not all of it, I just like looking at it." she shrugs.
"Hmmm, perhaps you'd be a good majusi then." he smiles.
She shook her head "No thanks Rafiki I don't think I want the life of others in my paws."
"Hmm, I understand, a great responsibility it is." he nods.
"I just wish I had a friend." she sighed.
"You have a friend in old Rafiki." he chuckles.
"I mean someone my age, no offense."
"I understand. Perhaps one day you will find another like yourself. Now Rafiki needs to talk with the queen, but I'll be around." he nodded as he headed off.
Panya smiled, Rafiki had always been kind to her, perhaps because she had to see him plenty of times as a cub.
She came early into the world, and Rafiki was called to make sure she survived.
As she got older her mother worried over her health and always visited the majusi to make sure she was okay.
Because of this she got to hear more about the circle of life then others and her interest peaked in stories he would tell.
Now that she was older her mother no longer constantly got her checked up and she saw less of the majusi. Still, she felt connected to him.
"Panya." she looked over to see Nala coming over and she asked "Hey Nala where's Simba?" she asked.
"I think he went off to see his uncle." Nala shrugged.
"Scar? My mom says he's got a bad attitude."
Nala chuckled and said "Yeah but he's Simba's uncle and he loves him."
"True." she shrugged.
Panya didn't know why, but her mom hated Scar, and no he was not secretly her father like most of the other lionesses gossiped about.
She'd met her father before actually, a nice rogue who looked like her twin, but with a mane.
Anyway she still didn't get why she hated Scar, that was a story she wasn't willing to tell her.
"Nala get back here, you know you're grounded." Sarafina called.
"Sigh, see yeah Panya." Nala walked off as Panya laid back down.
It seemed like today was gonna be a boring one.
At least that's what she had thought.
Later that evening the worst news had come, both Simba and Mufasa had both died in a stampede and Scar, who was king now, was bringing the hyenas into the pride lands.
At this her mother didn't stay quiet "Scar what are you thinking? They'll eat our cubs!"
Asha held Panya close as the hyena's swarmed pride rock.
"That is king Scar to you. And they will touch no one without my orders." he glared.
"They almost killed her." Asha growled.
"She was trespassing on their lands, you cannot blame them for that." Scar reminded them.
The lionesses were shocked, but knew that technically that was the law.
The other teens laughed at this and Panya gasped, how could they laugh at a time like this.
"I know it's a difficult time, so today I will let you all mourn, but tomorrow we will start our new lives." and with that he left.
So now the pride was left in shock and in fear of the future to come.
