Side Story 3 – Sever
Kyoko waited patiently outside the principal's office, her eyes focused on the door and the door only. They didn't waste a single second wandering around.
She wasn't here for sightseeing, she was here for business.
Suddenly, the door clicked open and girl with strawberry blond hair comes out. She had a sour expression on her face but the moment she noticed the detective, her expression changed to a very fake cheerful one.
They do not trade words, but Kyoko knows that someone with that type of skill is hiding something.
The girl goes on her marry way, leaving the lavender-haired detective behind with her thoughts.
"Come in." The principal's voice calls.
Kyoko's eyes instantly snap to the door.
That voice and the person it belonged to, it made her feel… lots of things over the years. Confusion, fear, disgust, anger, hatred, longing.
For the first time since she walked into Hope's Peak, Kyoko's facial expression changed for just a split second. It changed into a look of anger and deep down, a bit of hope.
Maybe-
She cut the thought right there, the detective wasn't here to mend her relationship with him, she was here to sever it.
Steadying her heart and mind, Kyoko walks inside of the principal's office. There was nothing to write home about it, not that she would notice if something was amiss, she had been homeschooled for most of her life after all.
For just a second as she entered the office, the girl froze at the figure of the principal hunched back in his chair with a serious expression on his face.
Kyoko was holding back so many things at this moment, it took all of her willpower to keep a neutral face while facing the principal.
The two stare at each other for a couple seconds and Kyoko opens her mouth to say something, but he lifts his hand interrupting her. "Take a seat, Kirigiri-san."
She does so, while not breaking eye-contact for a second with the older man. "We have a lot to talk about… Jin." Kyoko says in a cold tone.
Jin nods, having just as much as a poker face as the detective. "That we do-" He shakes his head. "-but not right now." The lavender-haired teen watches as he pulls something out of a drawer. "I've called you here not for personal reason, but strictly for business."
"Business?" She doesn't show on her face, but Kyoko was pretty much confused at that turn of events.
The older man nods. "Yes-" He then drops what he took from the drawer over the table. "-I need you to investigate someone for me."
Kyoko looks at his table and sees four document folders with the labels Steering Committee member and a number from 1 to 4.
While it picked her curiosity, she had other unresolved business with the principal. "That's not why I am here." She replies.
"I know." Jin shakes his head. "Let's make a deal, shall we?" Says the older man with a unreadable expression just like her own.
A… deal?
