Chapter 902
Wrong Floor
Seconds ago:
John relayed Savannah's message to John Henry. He figured John Henry heard it anyway. He watched Savannah run back into the fight. There was something about it which he just couldn't take. It wasn't right. It wasn't fair. Savannah was the one in danger and taking all the risks. It should be him out there. Savannah gave him the vest to begin with. She gave her protection to him. How did he matter more than she did? It all started to stack up on him as he thought about it. How is he supposed to be the one to save the world and give hope to millions? He just watched a teenage girl go off to fight an enemy Terminator. What kind of a leader was he? It didn't seem like a good one.
He needed to do something. He needed to do more. Savannah's luck wouldn't last forever. She was shot a few times he was aware of. Her vest stopped all the projectiles from entering her body. They left terrible purple welts where they impacted her body armor on her tender smooth flesh. The soft tender flesh he almost made love to only a short time ago. At this point it seemed like hours. He needed to refocus. It was less than three minutes ago.
Screw his safety. It was time to act and enter the fight. The girls were in trouble.
"Come on, John Henry, we need to help them." John said.
John Henry heard Savannah's earlier statement. He also heard her tell John to stay behind him. He was aware if John entered the combat arena, it was going to produce some type of negative results. They most likely would be directed at him. He wanted to put the brakes on it immediately.
"It's safer if you remain here." John Henry said.
John couldn't take it anymore. He needed to do something and he needed to do it now.
"I'm not the only one. Savannah's out there. Is it safe for her?" John asked. "Savannah, Gail, and Cameron are all out there. I'm in here. I'm going - period. Your protest was noted."
John started for the door. He held his Taser in his hand.
John Henry knew he couldn't allow for it to happen.
"Wait." John Henry said, as he quickly typed in a few more commands.
He wanted to make sure the elevator stopped in the right spot. It was Savannah's last directive. Well, almost the last one. She told John to remain behind him. It was obvious humans weren't good at following instructions, especially orders."
John Henry grabbed his Taser and followed John. He drew his Glock as he went.
As soon as they were in the hallway they saw Gail fire her silenced M9 as she jumped into the open elevator shaft.
'What the Hell?' John thought.
"It can't be good." John said. "Let's move."
He wondered where Gail went and how far down she jumped. He hoped Maybe she would grab the cable as she went down to slow her descent wherever she was headed. It almost looked like her M9 fired full auto because she shot it so rapidly.
They both broke into a full run.
They reached the elevator shaft. John Henry tried to hold John back until he could assess the situation below. John pushed his way up to the front anyway. They were both able to see Cameron dangling over the side of the elevator car, with Gail holding her with one hand. The 'Metal Bitch' was about to dislodge Gail's other hand as the elevator stopped one floor below them.
There was a large space between the top floor and the floor below them. It was because of the sunken whirlpool baths the giant suites contained.
Cameron was climbing back up on Gail's arm when she pulled her Taser out. She was about to fire her Taser over Gail's back at the 'Metal Bitch'.
John and John Henry both aimed and fired their Tasers.
All three of them fired their Tasers at nearly the same time.
The 'Metal Bitch' dove through the open hatch in the top of the elevator. She was able to avoid being hit.
"Damn." John said. "She got away."
John Henry thought she was hit by at least one of the Tasers. He didn't think it was a clean hit. One of the barbs was deflected. He thought about jumping down to the top of the elevator car as well. It would leave John alone and unprotected. He would need to rely on Gail and Cameron to go after the female Terminator.
"For now she may have." John Henry said. "I don't think it will be for long."
John looked around and realized someone was missing. He became more than a little alarmed.
"Where's Savannah?" John asked. "What happened to her?"
Things began to click in John Henry's mind now. He thought about where the elevator was currently stopped and where Savannah went.
"She went into the stairwell a short time ago." John Henry said. "I saw it on one of the security cameras. She has her Taser and M4. She will be able to present some formidable opposition to anyone she encounters. She knows what to do and how to do it. She's brought down more hostile Terminators than anyone except Cameron."
He was worried about Savannah's current whereabouts. Savannah did carry weapons sufficient to stop the female Terminator if she encountered her. He was pretty sure it was where she was headed. Now he was a little more concerned than he was a few seconds ago. It also meant she was on her own. He knew she would rely on her experience and training.
Cameron was back up on top of the elevator car after Gail pulled her up. She looked up and saw John. The blank look on her face was now replaced by a frown. She continued her forward motion and aimed her Taser into the empty elevator car. The 'Metal Bitch' was already on her way out of it. She didn't have a clean shot.
She wasn't happy John moved out of the Executive Suite and into harm's way. It made her wonder where Savannah was at. She didn't doubt for a moment Savannah would have done exactly what Gail just did if she was alone by herself at the top of the elevator shaft. They probably both would have ended up over the side of the elevator car anyway. She was very upset with everything the hostile Terminator did. She wanted retribution.
Cameron moved to follow the 'Metal Bitch'. She wasn't about to let her get away. It was more than personal to her now. She was almost terminated several times in the last minute. If Gail hadn't jumped down and helped her when she did, she would be lying at the bottom of the elevator shaft as a broken and sparking mass of wrecked metal and pulped sheath material. Depending upon the nature of her destruction, her power cell might even have ruptured. It would probably blow off one entire side of the building. She quickly pushed the thoughts from her mind. It didn't happen, at least not yet anyway.
She really wanted the 'Metal Bitch'.
Ally and Sheila rapidly approached the casino hotel. They were sure Cameron's team could use a little assistance. They didn't know the specifics of the current location. They did know how other types of operations similar to this played out.
Sheila made a sharp turn and skidded across the street some. She almost hit the front of a trash truck near the far curb. The trash truck just finished setting down a dumpster and backed away from it. The forks of the lift were right at window height for their SUV. If they'd skidded a little more, they would have both been impaled on the forks of the trash truck. It was a close one.
Ally earlier wanted Sheila to drive faster. Since she started to do it, the driving was very reckless and dangerous. What almost just happened was another example of it.
"Watch out, stupid." Ally said. "We almost piled up - again."
Sheila didn't care for the backseat driving lesson. It didn't matter if Ally was in the passenger seat next to her. It was still backseat driving. She was sure there was an even bigger threat on the way to their casino hotel than what was currently being experienced.
"You're stupid, not me." Sheila said. "I already told you driving recklessly was dangerous. You're the one who wanted me to do it in the first place. I want you to move into the backseat if you want to be a backseat driver. You don't deserve to sit up in the front with me. It sounds like an all out brawl at the hotel. We need to get there in case the other casino sends reinforcements. There could be more Terminators. We know there are Grays. There might be Syndicate thugs on the way with them."
Ally thought the last accident they almost were in was a little too close.
"We're not going to get there in one piece if we're impaled on the front of a rubbish truck." Ally said. "You know, like the one we just missed."
Sheila felt the vehicle was under control at all times. It wasn't her fault someone decided to pick up the trash at the time of the morning they did.
"Well, we did miss it, no harm no foul." Sheila said. "I told you before it's called 'defensive driving'."
Ally almost wanted to laugh. If it wasn't for the seriousness of the current situation, she probably would have. She decided to give Sheila a little refresher of what she thought.
"And I told you then, it was 'offensive driving'." Ally said. "It still is. You're as big of a threat on the road, as you are around others in different situations."
Sheila didn't want to make a big deal about her driving. Ally knew they needed to make up time. It wasn't a big deal. It was something she wanted to do as well. She wanted to get to the operation as quickly as possible to help reinforce it.
"We DID miss the truck. We never even touched it. It's all that matters." Sheila said. "It will all be over at the casino hotel before we can get there at this rate."
Ally was still upset by the near miss they just experienced. The forks on the front of the trash truck were only inches from their heads. There was no contact of any type, so there was no need to dwell on it. It was clear however time would most likely run out before they could even get close.
"You mean if we even get there…." Ally said. "It will be over, one way or the other."
They still needed to hurry. It seemed inevitable additional assistance could be on their way from the Skynet controlled Syndicate operation across the street. They could run into Grays or Syndicate thugs. It would probably be a combination of both. She wasn't sure if the Grays would expect to find Terminators. The Grays would know how to deal with them better than the Syndicate thugs would. She hoped their appearance as females would cause a little confusion and hesitation on the part of all of them, if there were any of them there. The both still wore their security badges. It should cause some additional hesitation. It was what they hoped anyway.
The female Terminator was on her knees as the elevator stopped. She landed hard on the floor when she drove through the access hatch in the roof of the elevator. She needed to get out of there immediately. She saw the elevator was one floor short from the top floor on the control panel. She forced both sets of elevator doors open as she stood to exit. She knew the two 'Metal Whores' who tried to jump her would be down after her within the next second. At least one of them carried a Taser.
The 'Metal Bitch' was out of the elevator. She thought she was going to escape. She turned away from the direction of the stairway without even looking at it. She knew the direction would be compromised by this point in time. She was aware there was someone in the stairwell below her moving very rapidly. It was most likely a Terminator. If she went up one floor, there were two more individuals with Tasers waiting for her. She was sure one of them was a Terminator.
She would need to make her way through someone's hotel room and out to the balcony. She would be able to go up to the next level on the outside. It would surprise whatever 'Skynet group' was up there. It was who she currently believed the 'enemy' was. The fact they seemed to be 'Terminator heavy' was additional proof of it. She briefly wondered if it was the Fanatical Grays, the Fanatics were were behind it. There was intelligence which indicated some Fanatics were in the area. So far their efforts to track them weren't very successful. Maybe time just caught up with them.
She needed to get away. She could always use the same technique using the balconies to go down floors as well. It may be prudent for her to wait until more assistance arrived from her casino across the street. She was aware there was a major disturbance at her casino. There were a number of dead and several missing. She was also unable to contact the 'holding pen' for female 'recruits' into their operation. It still upset her she needed to let four of them go. She thought maybe she should have terminated them instead of letting them go. She decided she would track each one of them down. She wanted the male handlers to give them especially brutal treatment because of the trouble they caused her. She would like to be there during the process if it was possible.
Based on the number of hostile Terminators already encountered, she decided evasion was the best route to follow currently. She was able to get away clean at this point so there was no need to push her luck. She planned to come back and make sure everyone involved in this operation was terminated. She knew where they were at. Even if they tried to leave, she was bound to find one of them. She would follow them to wherever their new hideout was at, and take them down anyway.
"HEY!" Someone yelled at her.
As she turned to look, she saw a stunning redhead holding an M4 pointed at her and something else held in her left hand below the foregrip of the M4.
It was a Taser.
The 'Metal Bitch' flung herself to the side as she heard the Taser fire. She knew it wasn't going to end well as she heard the Taser fire four times somehow. She knew the female was human too. The human Bitch wasn't there by accident. She planned for her to be there when she exited the elevator. She knew she was outsmarted by a human. A human Bitch would terminate her. It was her last thought as her world turned black.
Earlier:
Savannah just exited from the stairwell after she went down one floor. On her way down, she wasn't sure if she would be able to gain access to the next lowest floor. The doors were all sealed by a lock which could only be opened from the hallway by hand, or a card key from the stairwell. It didn't look like she was going to need anything to open the door. It wasn't closed tight. Someone propped it open an inch with a bar of soap from one of the bathrooms.
She noticed there were a dozen cigarette butts on the landing. Not all of them contained a filter. There was a good chance someone probably used some narcotics and didn't want to do it in their room. It was most likely something one of the two individuals in one of the rooms wanted to keep secret from the other one. Maybe they were an addict of some type. It did bother her a little to see none of the butts were crushed out to make sure they were extinguished before they were left where they were. She knew it was how fires were started. She pulled the door open and advanced with her M4 in front of her with her Taser below the foregrip.
The doorway to the stairwell hadn't even closed yet when she saw the elevator doors forced open part way and the 'Metal Bitch' exit into the hallway. The 'Metal Bitch' didn't even look in her direction until she called out to her. She could see the female Terminator attempted to avoid her. She fired her Taser four times in a pattern. She watched two of the four Taser shots hit the female Terminator. She went down like a rock. She smashed into the drywall on the side of the hallway wall. There was a very loud impact noise as the drywall was damaged.
She quickly moved forward and grabbed one foot of the 'Metal Bitch' and started to drag her back into the elevator. She just got her part way inside when she heard a door open in the hallway.
"What's going on out here?" Someone asked.
Savannah poked her head around the side of the partially open elevator door and saw a man standing there in his underwear as he looked out of his room door. A woman who held a sheet up to her neck stood behind him in the doorway.
Cameron and Gail landed behind Savannah in the elevator. They both jumped down to help her.
"I'm sorry." Savannah said to the man. "This is the wrong floor. We were supposed to get off one floor below."
Savannah ducked backed inside the elevator.
Cameron effortlessly pulled the 'Metal Bitch' the rest of the way into the elevator.
The man looked at where the sprawled female Terminator was a second ago.
"What's her story?" The man asked.
Savannah poked her head back out.
"She drank too much alcohol." Savannah said. "She can't hold her liquor. Now, when I get her back to the room, we won't even be able to have sex. It's a real shame too. It was going to be her first time with a female. I know she would've really enjoyed it."
Her statement seemed to catch the man off guard.
"I heard something which sounded like a gunshot or loud noise." The man said.
Savannah figured it was when the 'Metal Bitch' impacted the wall outside of the elevator.
"It may have been a party popper." Savannah said. "There were some young men who got off on the floor below. It appeared as if they were going to have a good time with each other by the way they acted. Times are changing everywhere."
Savannah was worried the man was going to come out of the room. If he looked inside the elevator, he was going to see two of them wearing combat vests and holding firearms. With the recent trouble they experienced in Las Vegas, it was bound to cause a panic. There was a pretty good chance Cameron would want to terminate the man. If she did, she would need to terminate the female with him to prevent the issue from getting out of control. So far the man only saw her head peek around the corner. He hadn't noticed the damaged hallway wall so far. It really wasn't something noticeable, unless someone knew where to look.
Savannah moved fully inside the elevator.
Gail stepped forward and grabbed the elevator doors. She forced them back closed. They were only halfway open anyway.
Savannah looked back. Cameron was in the process of removing the chip from the 'Metal Bitch'. Now she was really glad the man hadn't looked in the elevator. He would have been terminated for sure when he saw Cameron cut into the scalp of the female Terminator. He surely would have experienced a negative reaction.
Gail looked up and out of the open roof hatch of the elevator.
"Bring the elevator up." Gail said. "Savannah took down the 'Metal Bitch'. She's terminated."
Gail started to physically check Savannah for any injuries.
"I'm fine, Gail." Savannah said. "She didn't touch me, nothing did. She never saw me until it was too late for her."
Gail believed Savannah, but she needed to make sure she wasn't injured. It was possible she could be injured and not realize it, or how severe it was if she did realize it and didn't want to make a big deal about it.
"You know we need to check." Gail said. "It is standard procedure. It will make me feel better to know as well. I know you understand."
Savannah wanted to say to Gail she checked her pretty good 'earlier' but refrained. She knew it would bother Cameron. She didn't want to trivialize her time with Gail either. It was a special time for both of them. It wasn't about sex. It was about love and sharing.
John remained at the open elevator doors on the top floor as he looked down into the shaft. John Henry ran back to the 'Executive Suite' to bring the elevator up.
John stepped back as the elevator came up.
The door opened. John saw Cameron and Savannah standing there. Gail held the 'Metal Bitch' in her arms.
"It looked like it was touch and go." John said.
John still held his Taser at the ready when the elevator doors opened. He put it away once he was sure everything was under control.
Cameron knew it was a little more severe than touch and go. She knew she would have been terminated if Gail hadn't been there when she was.
"It was." Cameron said. "Gail saved me from going over the side. I owe her one. I was on my way down into oblivion."
Cameron was aware Gail took the damage for Savannah earlier which would have killed Savannah. Now Gail saved her from falling to her termination. Gail earned the right to share with Savannah in the last few hours. She was sure it was why Savannah was finally with Gail too. Savannah was grateful to be alive and wanted to show Gail her appreciation. She would never interfere with Gail and Savannah sharing in the future either. She was grateful too. Gail could have let her fall to her termination. It would be one less obstacle in Gail's way going forward. It wasn't how it played out. Gail did the right thing. It was the very thing Savannah instilled in all of them. They needed to do the right thing, even if it was the hard thing, or something they didn't want to do.
Gail didn't want to make a big deal about it. She knew Savannah saved her and she was pretty sure her actions earlier in the evening may have saved Savannah's life. Now her actions at Savannah's urging helped save Cameron.
"We all help each other." Gail said. "Sometimes it's nice to have help."
Savannah turned and smiled at Gail. She turned her attention back to John.
"I think we are going to need to check out real soon." Savannah said. "It's more than just wearing out our welcome with the hotel management."
Before John could answer, the stairwell door opened and Cammy stepped out. She searched for a Target with her M4. Her card key was in her hand and quickly disappeared into her pocket. She quickly slung her M4.
"I think you're right." Cammy said as she exited the stairwell. "There is a giant hole in the side of the stairwell wall. A metal support beam was knocked out. It looked like it was bent enough into the path of the elevator so it got stuck on the side of it. It caused a lot of sparking. Did I miss anything?"
Cameron really didn't want anyone else to know how close to termination she was. She decided to keep it simple.
"Not much." Cameron said. "Savannah stopped the 'Metal Bitch'.
Savannah felt Gail and Cameron did most of the heavy lifting on the take down. She was only there at the finale. It was just speculation too.
"I only assisted." Savannah said. "I think you experienced a far rougher time than I did."
Gail understood Cameron didn't want to talk about how close it was for her.
"Cameron forced the 'Metal Bitch' to drop inside of the elevator when she aimed her Taser at the 'Metal Bitch'. The 'Metal Bitch' forced her way out of the elevator. Savannah was waiting there for her and terminated her."
Cameron was very pleased Gail left out a few of the details.
John noticed it as well. He didn't think it was anything to dwell on. He gave Cameron and Savannah both a hug.
Cammy was going to ask where her hug was at, but decided not to.
"Let's collect our things and get out of this place." John said. "It's compromised in more ways than one at this point."
John remembered the HK drone which smashed into the top floor of the building with Mrs. Weaver, his mother, and Mr. Ellison. He didn't want to stick around for an encore performance. The fact the enemy controlled casino was literally right across the street didn't help matters any either. It meant there was more enemy help nearby and probably some of it was already on its way over. They needed to get moving.
John and John Henry gathered the computer gear from the 'Executive Suite'. Gail and Cammy retrieved everything from the 'Master Suite'.
Cameron and Savannah entered the 'Honeymoon Suite'. They collected everything.
Savannah and Cameron exchanged a few glances as they got everything ready to go.
Cameron wanted to ask Savannah a question but couldn't. She couldn't process the words to 'ask'.
Savannah put everything away but the wedding dress.
Cameron came to her and hugged Savannah, the wedding dress was between them.
"Will you wear this for me?" Cameron asked.
Savannah could see Cameron looked very uneasy. She wanted to put her mind at ease.
"Yes." Savannah said. "Of course I will. You know I love you, Cameron."
Cameron smiled at her.
Savannah knew Cameron was still 'troubled'. She was pretty sure she knew what it was about too. She really didn't think it was a big deal. Even though Cameron claimed she wanted it to happen, she knew she really didn't. She really didn't feel like discussing it, especially since nothing happened. It was a close encounter, but nothing actually occurred or was completed.
"Maybe you can straighten the bed up some." Savannah said. "It's kind of messed up."
Cameron still held Savannah tightly. The wedding dress was between them. It was like an adhesive bonding them together.
Savannah was a little worried Cameron hadn't acted on her last suggestion. She wanted to give her a little bit more positive reinforcement.
"Will you wear this for me?" Savannah asked as she indicated the dress.
Cameron could see Savannah attempted to reach out to her. She didn't want to seem negative, even if it's how she felt about some things. She tried to make light of the situation. It was something she learned to do from Savannah and Young Allison.
"Yes." Cameron said. "It will prove to be a very interesting and revealing ceremony as we both wear the same dress and switch it back and forth between us."
They both laughed over the statement. It was funny.
Savannah looked deeply at Cameron.
"Cameron, you can straighten up the bed a little." Savannah said again.
Cameron heard Savannah tell her the first time. Savannah must be telling her something else. She looked over towards the bedroom with the heart shaped bed and back at Savannah.
"OK." Cameron said.
Savannah smiled faintly and nodded towards the bedroom in the Honeymoon Suite.
Neither of them wanted to 'talk about it'.
Savannah carefully packed the wedding dress up.
Cameron slowly went into the bedroom and looked at the heart shaped bed. It was the same bed where Savannah and her almost completed their love. The very bed where she was sure John and Savannah completed their love.
She looked back. Savannah was out of sight. She quickly touched the bottom sheet. She scanned it for fresh traces of John's genetic material. There was nothing fresh and nothing from Savannah either.
Cameron looked back and Savannah smiled at her.
"Nothing happened. I'm still a virgin." Savannah said. "Even though I'm pregnant for the third time…. I'm sure I'll be the first virgin to leave the Honeymoon Suite, still a virgin."
The blank look on Cameron' face blossomed into a smile.
"I want to say 'Thank You', but I know it has to happen." Cameron said. "I want it to happen for him and YOU. It NEEDS to happen for all of us and the future. You know it's already so in my future."
Savannah knew it was a touchy subject no matter how I was looked at. She knew what needed to be done and she knew what the future held. She was just sure that things would happen like they were supposed to happen when they were supposed to happen. There was no need to rush any of them. They would all mean more to everyone if they happened on their own. Cameron's future wasn't necessarily her future, or their future going forward.
"It will, Cameron, for both John and YOU." Savannah said. "I promise to keep all my promises. I'll protect John AND you as the future progresses. I swear it."
Cameron really didn't know what to say.
"Thank You, Savannah." Cameron said.
"I love you, Cameron." Savannah said.
"I love you too, Savannah." Cameron said.
Cameron loved Savannah as much as John. Maybe she even loved her more at this point. Savannah always made her feel like she was someone special, it mattered to her. Savannah never made her feel like - Nobody.
Sheila and Ally pulled up at the casino hotel.
They received word from John Henry the operation was over. The team took down the 'Metal Bitch' and everything was being packed up.
Ally thought they might be done inside, but worried about reinforcements from across the street.
"Do you see any 'Heavies'?" Ally asked as she looked around.
Sheila looked around as well. She was well acquainted with both Grays and Syndicate types, both of them spelled trouble. The good news was, both of them were easy to terminate. It really didn't take much effort.
"No." Sheila said. "Not yet anyway."
Ally looked in the back of the SUV. She didn't think they're going to have room for everybody and everything.
"We're going to need another set of wheels. Let's go find a van." Ally said. "All of the cash is taking up too much room. I know we can dump it out if we need to."
Sheila thought it was one problem she could rectify on her own.
"I still want to go to the abused women's facility." Sheila said.
Ally could see it was important to Sheila.
"I'll mention it to Savannah or Cameron." Ally said. "We did help those captive girls and the other four too. The ones the 'Metal Bitch' needed to release, to come here. We were directly responsible for it. We helped eight girls with our efforts."
Sheila couldn't help but think about the females who were abused by the ones they once cared about and loved. Somehow it was even worse than being abused by a stranger. She still wanted to look up some of the abusive males and pay them a 'special visit'. She wanted for them to know what it was like to be slapped around and beat on by somebody. She would also make sure they could never be with another female, as a male anyway. Some people just needed to learn things the hard way. It was the only way to make them stop.
"I guess we did." Sheila said. "I still want to help some more."
Closing monologue by Cameron:
Somewhere In There
Is love real or imagined
Where does it exist
How do we fall captive
Why can't we resist
We believe it's in the heart
Or is it really in the mind
We think it makes us see clearer
Instead it actually makes us blind
Never give up or surrender
Fight for what your heart will need
To not fill your heart with love
Means it will forever bleed
You think your heart is empty
That there is no love to receive
The pieces are all there
Now is the time to weave
Look deep inside you
There is no need to despair
Search and you will find it
Somewhere in there
Nobody
