Chapter 1172
Will You Join Us
Jesse and Claire watched as John Henry controlled the small drone. They were both somewhat intrigued by it. It was definitely a new approach for the Resistance.
"Where exactly is the little fella going?" Jesse asked.
John Henry gave them a brief description but didn't fill them in with all the details as to exactly what was going to happen as he flew it towards Cam's SUV.
"It's going to do some reconnaissance." John Henry said. "It will be a little different than normal."
Claire and Jesse weren't really sure what he was up to. There still seemed to be a certain amount of mystery associated with it.
Jesse still wanted to see more of the female the drone originally spied on, but didn't mention it again. To see any nude female excited her. She always wanted to compare how different each one was first hand. It usually took some 'hands on' contact to see exactly what would do what. From personal experience, she knew some things were much more elastic than others, even if the size was the same when relaxed.
One of their drones orbited the area above Cam's SUV. It's searched for any suspicious behavior around the location. Nothing was spotted around the SUV or its immediate area. Thermal scans didn't detect anyone hiding or laying in weight. If there was any type of ambush setup, it would need to be remote. There was no positive indication anyone currently was able to 'have eyes' on Cam's SUV.
The small drone approached Cam's SUV. It hovered above it and moved all around it.
Claire wondered whose vehicle it was.
"Is the SUV one of ours?" Claire asked.
John Henry thought ownership and possession could be two different things.
"Cam used it earlier." John Henry said. "I'm going to probe it with the small drone. I don't know what will happen for sure. It's what we're trying to determine."
John Henry landed it on the roof of the SUV first and then on the hood next. So far nothing happened.
He landed it next to the SUV and tried to look up underneath it. He wanted to check for any explosives which might have been placed there. It was doubtful he'd be able to spot any with the current equipment. The drone wasn't designed for the camera to look up at such an angle to get a good view of the underside of the SUV.
The view went dark for Claire.
"I can't see anything." Claire said.
John Henry was aware the small drone possessed limited capabilities.
"The small drone would need some modifications to look up. It's designed to look forward, off to the side, or look down." John Henry said. "It's a very primitive design."
The small drone lifted off and was purposely bumped into the driver's door. Nothing happened. John Henry bumped it into all the doors on both sides and in the back. There was no reaction.
Jesse expected an explosion of some type. Nothing happened.
"I guess the SUV isn't going to blow up." Jesse said.
John Henry wasn't done.
"Not yet anyway." John Henry said.
Claire was a little confused about everything. She wondered why the SUV would blow up. She would have preferred a better explanation from John Henry as to what exactly was supposed to happen and why. She didn't want to create a problem in the Command Center and be asked to leave.
It did make her wonder if her daughter was involved in some way. Right now it didn't look like it. It appeared John Henry was the one who controlled the drone. He was definitely the one who commented. She really wondered exactly what Young Allison was up to. She was sure she viewed the current operation from the Young bunker in Palmdale.
Savannah watched the small drone approach Cam's SUV from a drone overhead. The drone which arrived was much smaller than she thought it would be. She wasn't exactly sure what she thought it was before. It should still give some indication as to the sensitivity of the explosive device, if they're even was one.
"I don't know if this is going to work or not." Savannah said. "I figured it was worth a try instead of risking someone to go look."
Cam thought it was a waste of time and effort. She could deal with any threat on her own.
"I think it's totally unnecessary." Cam said.
Savannah still had a bad feeling about Cam's SUV.
"We'll see." Savannah said. "I want things to play out all the way."
Cammy's team watched the small drone do its maneuvers and probe the SUV from all sides. There was no apparent reaction.
Cam didn't think it was a big deal. She saw enough.
"I told you it was OK." Cam said. "I'm going to go get it now. It was all a bunch of hoopla about nothing."
Savannah received a communication from CamNet about the SUV and another test. She told CamNet to send the information to everyone involved. She wanted everyone on the same page. So far none of them knew what the other test was.
"It's not time yet, Cam." Savannah said. "You're going to need to wait a few more minutes. There's one more test."
Cam and Cammy wondered what it was. They still hadn't received any details yet from anyone.
"What's the test?" Cammy asked. "Are we going to use one of our drones? It will be severely damaged if there is any type of explosion and it's right on top of it."
Savannah only knew it would be soon. She hoped it wasn't one of their drones. She figured it would be 'Cherry Bomb' or 'Coltan Overcast'. She would really hate to see either one of those drones damaged.
"It will be in a few minutes. I really don't know." Savannah said. "CamNet is conducting it."
Cam didn't see the point. Why did they need to wait?
"I want to know what the test is." Cam said.
Savannah wanted a better answer herself. They still hadn't been updated by anyone yet.
"I do too." Savannah said. "We'll need to wait and see."
Cam was irritated about a bunch of hoopla over nothing. She felt the operation was over and she was ready to go back to the base and see Vanna.
Savannah really wondered what was about to happen. She didn't think CamNet would use a full size drone to do the same thing. She couldn't picture it coming down low and performing any maneuvers the same way on a city street. She knew Cammy was correct about how the drone would be damaged if there was an explosion right next to it, or right below it.
She was fairly certain whatever the new test was, it probably initiated in the Young bunker. She knew Young Allison was behind it to some extent. It would be interesting to see if Young Allison's test worked better than hers did. Based on Young Allison's track record, it more than likely would be. The issue at hand was Cam's safety.
Cameron was pleased John didn't ask her anymore about what occurred or why she needed to leave for a few moments earlier. She was able to refocus him on something else. She guided John's hand to where he wanted it to be. She wanted it to be there too. It was one of the few sections of her original sheath. She could thank Savannah for it along with some 'temporal management'. Almost every other section of her sheath, including much of her face, was replaced or regenerated over the years from all the damage she received in combat while fighting Skynet. The damage John caused to be done to her when he sent her after Sarah was another story…. She tried not to think about it.
The unthinking action John took in itself led to a whole chain of events. The most catastrophic of all of those events was the creation of an alternate timeline. It was something which never should have happened. Actually much of what happened never should have happened at all.
The second song finished.
John really liked the catchy tunes. They dug right down to the core of a human. It was music one could feel physically as well as hear. The bass and the drums could reach right out into the audience and physically touch them with their musical vibrations. He thought they were actually much better than most of the crap which was blasted over the airwaves currently. He wasn't really even sure it could be considered music, other than the fact someone claimed it was. He was very pleased with the hear and now.
"These are really great songs and music." John said.
Cameron expected to hear a lot of similar music when she took Young Allison to the past. She expected to see 'herself' obtain the safety deposit boxes in the bank when it was opened in 1963. She wondered if she would attempt to interact with herself or not. Since she didn't have any recollection of it being done the first time, she didn't think so. What if there was some interaction and she blocked it? She could have deleted and erased it from her chip. The new musical number quickly caught her attention.
The next song performed was by a group known as 'Them'.
'Gloria', pounded throughout the theater.
John was immediately captivated by the tune. He quickly substituted 'Cameron' for 'Gloria' in his head and made the song about Cameron. He just needed to think of the letters of her name a little quicker than they were for 'Gloria'. It actually worked quite well.
Gail listened to the music and could feel its power. She substituted 'Jesse' for 'Gloria' and then 'Savannah' in her mind. She pictured the song being about them. She corrected the height and weight as those parts came along. She even found a way to add in Savannah's hair color.
The raw sound of the music so far was very captivating along with the lyrics. She liked how she could physically feel the impact of music. The physical aspect of it added to the ability to hear it.
Gail looked back at Sheila when she thought about Jesse and then over at Hanna again when she thought about Savannah. She strongly desired both of them now.
She would ask Hanna to do some age regression in the future to match Savannah's appearance instead of Vanna's. She was sure Claire wouldn't mind. She didn't want Hanna to go too far back if she did. She knew how displeased Anna was with her current sheath appearance. Anna looked more like an early teen. Wait. When Anna resumed her previous appearance, Hanna and her would look the same then, they would both look like Savannah. It was a very intriguing thought. She really wanted to hook up with Sheila or Hanna after the performance. To be with both of them would be even better.
Gail was very captivated watching the dancers and singers perform as she enjoyed the songs and the messages they sent to her. She was sure the songs were performed for her. It was almost like the songwriters knew how she felt decades before she was ever constructed. She glanced down at the audience and could see they all seemed to be very pleased as well with what they watched and heard.
Ally let Sheila touch her as the music played. She was touched by the power of the music and lyrics too. Because she listened to the song lyrics earlier, they made her get cold feet with John. She felt it was a moment John and Cameron needed to share. She hoped they stayed for the second performance and relived it all again.
She would apologize to Cameron one more time about what they tried to do. It wasn't proper in this setting and why John and Cameron were there in the first place. John only touched her knee and lower inner thigh briefly. It shouldn't be a problem for anyone. It wasn't like anything actually happened.
Right now she substituted 'Sheila' for 'Gloria' in her mind. It was very satisfying to both be mentally and physically stimulated at the same time. Sheila was the one who currently touched her on top of it. It all fit together perfectly. She was sure everyone was stimulated in some way by the power of the teens which played especially with their upbeat tone.
Derek looked over at Riley as the music played. He hadn't heard music like this in a long time. He liked how the songs were simple but direct. Maybe it was the way in which the tunes seemed to captivate and touch the soul.
He glanced over at Riley as the music continued. There was a smile on her face which was very genuine and heartfelt. He could see she was absorbed in the performance on the stage. He couldn't help but substitute the letters of 'Riley' for those of 'Gloria' as the song played.
He was aware of some of the rough patches they dealt with recently through Riley's pregnancy. Those were all in the past now. Life moved forwards not backwards. He continued to listen and enjoy the show.
He still felt very guilty every time Riley mentioned she didn't get out much. The fact she looks so pleased with the performance, and everything on the ship so far, was a good indication both of them needed to get out more and do 'fun things' to keep the spice in their lives.
Riley was very thrilled to watch the stage show. She thought all of the dancers were beautiful and the music was great. Where they were situated in their private box, it seemed the music was able to touch them directly. They could really feel all the bass notes and percussion of the drums. The music was performed live. She could actually see the band in the background as part of the show. It was a small band but it was all it needed to be.
She casually glanced around the dark auditorium. She could see the crowd was just as caught up in everything as she was. She never was at anything like where she was at now before. She equated it to a concert. She often saw on TV where there was some sold out concert. There was always some type of trouble which followed. She liked the venue they were at because there obviously wouldn't be any trouble. If anyone missed the show, it would repeat an hour or so after the current one ended.
She wasn't sure if there was some type of live feed where it could go to the TV sets in everyone's room. If there wasn't, she thought there should be. She was certain there would be a repeat performance of the show later on in the week. She doubted she would still be on the ship, but everyone else would be. If anyone missed the two performances tonight they could catch it when it played again.
As she listened to the music and each song in particular, she wondered if Derek thought about her. She really hoped she was in his thoughts because he was in hers.
Sarah liked the seclusion of the private box. She looked down at the throng of people seated in the main theater. She liked how well behaved all of them were. She went to concerts before in her teen years. Most of those were a little less refined and the crowd was a little more rambunctious.
She glanced over at Kyle. Kyle glanced back at her. He reached out and gave her hand a gentle squeeze. It was a loving gesture which said a lot without a word needing to be spoken. It appeared he enjoyed the performance as much as she did. She was very grateful for the opportunity John and Cameron provided them with.
Steve and Tom waited for some further developments. Nothing happened yet. They felt they should be doing something instead of waiting around. They weren't even doing any surveillance or recon. They wondered if they should check out the building the drones brought down. There hadn't been any type of emergency response thanks to John Henry. There also hadn't been anyone spotted leaving the near vicinity either. Perhaps if there was, they would have been directed to apprehend them and get some answers as to who they were and why they were there. They would rather do it than sit and wait.
"Cammy, what do you want us to do?" Steve asked.
Savannah was about to tell them to relax for a little longer when Cammy set them straight.
"I want you both to stay alert and sit tight." Cammy said. "We're not done here yet. There are still things which might happen. We all need to wait and let events play out. We need to keep an eye out for each other as well. We don't know what other events have been set into place at this time. We don't know if any of the teams have been identified and targeted yet."
Savannah received an alert on her phone from one of the drone feeds overhead.
"Look." Savannah said.
On the feed from a drone they could see a vehicle approach Cam's SUV.
Cammy appeared to tense up at what might be a new threat.
"It looks like trouble." Cammy said.
CamNet sent them a message. She informed them it was a self driving vehicle and she was in control of it. It all made sense now.
Savannah could see right away it was a heavier duty version of her test. The small drone only weighed a few pounds. The self driving vehicle should weigh around two tons. There was a difference, it was a big one.
"I believe it's the new test." Savannah said. "I don't know what's going to happen."
Cammy liked the concept of a self driving vehicle. It could be given commands on its own where to be at a certain time, or it could be controlled by John Henry or CamNet. She thought it would be good technology to employ in all of their vehicles. The only trouble was, they needed to switch them so often. Maybe in some of them they could try it.
"Maybe we should let CamNet drive all our vehicles." Cammy said. "She should at least have the ability to drive them if it was necessary."
The statement reminded Savannah she needed to see CamNet while Cameron was away. Maybe she would do it tomorrow unless some operation developed. This one looked like it was winding down. There weren't any new solid leads turned up.
Savannah looked around. The small fire which developed after the missile strike was out. John Henry suppressed all 911 traffic. From what she saw of the missile attack, the first missile strike was targeted at the individual and the second one was targeted at the base of the front wall to collapse the structure in on itself.
Now she watched the self driving vehicle turn around and come up to the back of Cam's SUV and bump it with its rear end. Nothing happened. It moved around to the front and bumped it with its rear end. Nothing happened.
Cam still didn't think there was a problem she couldn't find on her own.
"See, it wasn't anything." Cam said. "I'm going to get my SUV before CamNet wrecks it. It looks like both bumpers are already damaged."
Cammy began to wonder at this point as well. Further delay seemed unnecessary.
"Maybe it was nothing." Cammy said.
The self driving vehicle pulled away from the SUV and moved a longer distance away from it.
Savannah was a little confused at this point. She wondered if the self driving vehicle was about to leave.
"Where's the self driving vehicle going?" Savannah asked.
Cammy wondered about it too when it abruptly halted.
"It stopped." Cammy said.
It looked like a more drastic measure was about to be taken.
Cam was a little more than worried right now. The only thing she could deduce was there was about to be a much harder impact. It would most likely damage both vehicles severely.
"What's happening now?" Cam asked. "Is CamNet really going to wreck it?"
The three girls watched and waited. Everything was out of their hands at this point.
The lighting and mood in the theater became very somber. A lone male singer started to sing a song made popular by the 'Animals'.
'The House Of The Rising Sun', eerily drifted around the theater.
The dancers acted out parts of the song in the background.
John was intent on watching the dancers. He no longer touched Cameron after having 'knocked on her door'. The message was sent and received. The real action would occur back in their suite.
Cameron noticed John intently looked at the scantily clad dancers. She quickly scanned the dimensions of each of the female dancers. She wanted to see which body type attracted John the most. She believed she could emulate any of them as far as the dance moves went.
"I think they're all beautiful." Cameron said.
At this point, John thought a front row seat would have been nice. He would like to see all the barely covered bodies up close. He briefly glanced over at Cameron with her statement. He didn't think he should elaborate on it any. He decided to only acknowledge it.
"They are." John said. "There's a lot of talent up there."
He wasn't about to admit to some of the things he thought about. He really wished they were in their suite bedroom right now.
Cameron didn't have a problem with what John observed. She figured it would make him even 'hungrier' for her later on. He could only look at them but he could touch her. He could do everything with her. She attempted to determine which of the female dancers John watched the most. She could obtain the same outfit and wear it later on and perform the same moves for John in their room. She wanted to remind him what was available as opposed to 'what if'.
"Don't forget, you still owe me one more time tonight." Cameron said. "You're not done for the night."
John looked at the scantily clad dancers again. He could feel things happening he didn't really want to happen right now.
"I don't think it will be a problem." John said.
Cameron planned to collect on it and maybe a little more. If John wanted to try someone new, she could provide him with any experience. She needed to speak with Sheila. She wanted Sheila to give up her chassis for a few hours. She was sure Sheila would understand. She didn't think it should be too big of a deal for what she wanted to happen.
Gail listened to the song and it seemed to make her miss Jesse and Savannah even more. She looked at Sheila and Hanna again.
Holly watched Gail and saw she seemed to react to the music on a deeper level. She could see how Gail looked at Sheila and Hanna. She didn't want to see Gail end up in a 'bad place'. It would be easy to take it too far.
"They're not them." Holly whispered in her ear.
Gail looked at Holly.
It gave Gail the reality check she needed. She started to drift to some point where the destination was unknown. She might have ended up like Cameron did sometimes. Cameron thought she was Allison during those times. She wondered who she would think she was. She didn't know who her human counterpart was she was patterned after. She was aware none of the Restorators did. It wasn't by accident but by design. She needed to clear her mind.
"I know." Gail whispered back. "Thank you."
Holly wanted to give her an explanation. She knew the path to loneliness was a lonely path.
"It will only make you miss them even more." Holly whispered.
Gail wondered if Holly saw Ally as 'Allison' in the moment. She wanted to know if they thought the same way about the human girls they loved.
"Don't you want to be with Ally because she's as close to Allison as you can get for now?" Gail whispered.
It was what Holly thought. She was a little surprised by Gail's question.
"I do." Holly whispered. "I already miss her. She won't be coming tomorrow."
Gail understood the feeling. It was a reminder how much all the girls and their lovers meant to them. She was actually glad she wasn't the only one who felt like she did.
"I thought it was just me." Gail whispered. "We've become dependent on them."
Holly knew it was love.
"It's called love." Holly whispered. "We love them and they love us."
Gail learned how love could envelope one.
"Love is like an illness." Gail whispered. "It infects you and then it consumes you."
Holly equated it to something different with a similar effect.
"Or it's like a drug." Holly whispered. "You get addicted to love. The more you have, the more you want, the more you need. You get hooked and you can't exist without it."
Gail didn't think the ability to love was in her original programming. It was something which developed over time. She felt it was one of the reasons why she didn't know who her human counterpart was. It appeared Mrs. Weaver didn't want them to be afflicted like a Skynet Terminator could be. It would distract them from their mission and possibly even compromise them.
"We weren't designed to love, but we all do." Gail whispered. "Since it's part of our programming to emulate humans to blend in with them, I believe it is an unintended side effect. Maybe it was planned, but not advertised."
Gail and Holly glanced back at Sheila and Ally as they kissed and fondled each other. They expected to see Sheila slip her dress off at any moment. Maybe they were a little surprised she hadn't already done it.
Holly watched Sheila and Ally interact. They didn't look like two machines. They looked like two human females. She was aware the longer they interacted with humans, the more they became like them. She understood it was part of the programming so they could blend in better long term. It would depend upon the mission they were assigned to.
"It's even machines in love with other machines." Holly whispered as she watched them in a deep slow kiss. "We may have to raise the one way glass soon."
Gail glanced down on the audience watching the performance. She didn't think anyone would be able to spot anything if they looked back up to where they were at. Perhaps it was better if they didn't take any chances. They didn't want some report being made and have Cameron storm into their private box.
"Indeed." Gail whispered.
The song ended and sharp guitar tones filled the air.
It was a song by the 'Rolling Stones'.
'(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction', was able to pick up the mood of the audience. The song was anything but somber compared to the previous one.
Gail and Holly both thought there was so much available to them. Sometimes they couldn't get satisfaction, at least not the satisfaction of the girls they loved and they longed for now. What made it even a little more surreal was the fact when they were constructed, they simply had no desire to find satisfaction. Now it was something they seemed to live for. Well, live may not be the right term. Perhaps exist would be a more appropriate in their case.
Earlier:
In the Young bunker they watched the small drone try to initiate anything with Cam's SUV. Nothing happened.
The self driving vehicle was there now. It already probed the front and rear of Cam's SUV, but not hard enough to damage it too much.
Anna thought if something was going to happen, it probably should have happened by now.
"What now?" Anna asked. "Nothing happened. Maybe it's clean."
Young Allison felt what Savannah did. She thought there was more there to find and it was nothing good. It was time for more drastic measures.
"I say we back up the self driving car up further and ram the SUV at speed." Young Allison said. "I think a harder impact is what is necessary."
Anna could see it was going to be terminal one way or another. She really wasn't sure what was supposed to be accomplished by such a maneuver.
"It will wreck both vehicles." Anna said.
Young Allison didn't want to take any more chances.
"It's the only way to be sure." Young Allison said.
Anna wasn't so sure about the new approach.
"Maybe we should ask Cam first." Anna said.
Young Allison wanted action. She didn't want any more negative feedback. She already knew what Cam wanted. She also knew what Savannah wanted.
"I want this over." Young Allison said. "It's not like it's someone's personal vehicle or anything."
Anna was very apprehensive.
"I don't know about this." Anna said.
Young Allison commanded CamNet to act directly.
"CamNet, do it now." Young Allison said. "Hit it."
The self driving vehicle started backwards and gained speed. It rammed the back of itself into the back of Cam's SUV. Nothing happened.
Young Allison was dissatisfied with the lack of results.
"CamNet, do it harder and from the front this time." Young Allison said.
The self driving vehicle pulled away from the back of the smashed SUV's rear end.
It backed past the SUV down the street. It faced the SUV now.
"Hit it again." Young Allison said.
The self driving vehicle raced forward and slammed head on into Cam's SUV. Both vehicles were crushed in the front. Nothing happened.
Young Allison began to feel a little doubt but still thought it was the correct move.
Anna was sure they were on the wrong track.
"I don't think…." Anna started.
Cam watched with some mild disbelief. She arrived in a perfectly good SUV earlier. She actually liked it. It was one of the higher end models.
"They're wrecking my SUV." Cam said. "I wouldn't want to be found terminated in it at this point."
Savannah didn't want it to be a problem since she was the one who initiated it.
"You can ride home with us." Savannah said. "Cammy will let you drive."
Cam was totally disgusted at this point. It appeared this was all for nothing.
"Look at it. It's totaled." Cam said.
Cam looked at Cammy.
"Apparently…." Cammy said.
Savannah decided to take full responsibility for the whole endeavor.
"It's all my fault." Savannah said. "I didn't feel comfortable the vehicle wasn't tampered with. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything. We can find a top of the line SUV for you on the way back."
Cam was pretty sure at this point it was all a big mistake.
"I don't think…." Cam started.
Earlier:
John Henry was dissatisfied with the results of the small drone test. He hadn't damaged it with his use of it. He sent the small drone back to where he hijacked it from. He actually flew it to the exact spot where he commandeered it from. It pointed at the window the female was in earlier.
Jesse tried to see if the drone picked up the female who was changing earlier. The room was dark now. There was no free show for now.
Claire noticed Jesse's current focus. She didn't want her to feel too disappointed. She thought of something she could do to refocus her mind.
"I'll strip for you." Claire whispered in Jesse's ear.
Jesse couldn't help it. She shrugged her shoulders.
"Sorry, love." Jesse said. "Old habits die hard."
Claire smiled at Jesse and touched her cheek lovingly.
John Henry wasn't sure what to do with the small drone at this point. He thought he could land it on the lawn in front of the house it spied on. He wasn't sure if it was a good idea. There was a lot of footage of the nude female in the room from multiple occasions. More than likely whoever lived with the female didn't know she showed off multiple times for the drone.
He was sure she knew who the drone operator was. They may have been two individuals who were banned from seeing each other. It could have been as simple as someone who saw they were being surveilled and decided to show off.
John Henry thought he would take a look around the neighborhood while they waited for the next event to unfold with Cam's SUV. He was aware the drone's signal emanated from the house next door. He sent the drone around the neighboring house to see what he could find. He came across a second story window with the drapes not shut tight and a light on inside. He was a little surprised at what he found. It was the female from next door with a male inside the room with her. They currently shared with each other rather vigorously.
He already switched off the view from any of the monitors Jesse or Claire could see. He didn't want them to get distracted. He watched everything internally through his server. He watched them for a short time. The male suddenly jumped up from the bed and came to the window. He must have heard the drone right outside the glass. He decided to keep the drone where it was. The female was up off of the bed at this point as well. Both of them stood at the window naked and looked at the drone right outside. The male opened the window and was about to reach out to see if he could grab the drone.
John Henry hoped they would open the window. As soon as it was open, he flew the drone inside of the room. Both the male and the female jumped out of the way as it entered the room. He flew it over to the bed and landed it. He powered down the drone. He left the camera on for a moment.
He saw the male look to both sides as well as down out the window before he closed it. He figured he looked to see if there was someone there. There wasn't.
John Henry waited for two minutes before he turned the camera back on. He was pleased with what he was able to view. The drone was now on a dresser. The couple resumed the activity they previously were doing on the bed. He would continue to watch the activity through his server. He would still deal with Jesse and Claire and the situation involving Cam's SUV.
The three in the Command Center watched the new antics of the self driving car.
They watched it start out slow at both the rear and the front end. The speed and distance progressed until everything looked like it was a little on the extreme side.
Claire was reminded of something from when she was younger as she watched one vehicle attack the other.
"It was like watching a 'destruction derby'." Claire said. "My parents took me there once when I was younger. They mostly have swap meets at the place now. I think it was in Saugus. They used to race cars there too. Maybe it was called the Saugus Speedway or something like it."
Jesse watched the two vehicles slowly being wrecked.
"What a waste of machinery." Jesse said.
Claire looked over at John Henry.
"So where does this go from here?" Claire asked.
The self driving car made a more terminal run.
"I don't think…." John Henry started.
Vanna felt bad for Samantha. She realized Samantha wanted to be with Precious too. She went to the door to the room next door, the nursery. She opened the door and Samantha was there in standby.
In fifteen seconds her eyes opened.
"Hi, Samantha." Vanna said.
"Hello, Vanna." Samantha said.
Vanna felt she was rude and selfish toward Samantha.
"You can join us and do what you normally do." Vanna said. "I'm sorry I didn't ask you sooner. I wanted to invite you to the commissary with us when we left. I apologize for not doing it. I never want anyone to feel they don't have a place in life by my actions."
Samantha was pleased to be involved again. She tried to downplay any hard feelings. She felt Vanna reached out to her earlier but she didn't respond to it. She still pretended like she was in standby at the time. She heard everything Vanna said and understood what she wanted.
"It's fine." Samantha said. "I understand your desire to see how it is for a few days with Precious. It is a very noble gesture on your part."
Samantha walked into Riley's room and saw Allison holding Precious. They exchanged greetings.
Allison could see the way Samantha looked at Precious.
"Do you want to hold her?" Allison asked.
Samantha smiled.
"Can I?" Samantha asked.
Vanna followed her in and wanted to clear things up for everyone. She didn't want to keep apologizing, but wondered if maybe she should.
"Samantha, I'd like you to do what you normally do." Vanna said. "I don't want to disrupt your normal routine. I'm sorry if I overstepped."
Samantha carefully took Precious from Allison. She gently rocked her back and forth and kissed her softly on the cheek.
It was clear how attached Samantha was to Precious.
Samantha saw Vanna look at her and carefully handed Precious back to Vanna.
"I'm sorry." Samantha said. "I really missed her."
Vanna wondered how badly she inadvertently hurt Samantha. She knew what some of these things did to Terminators. It slowly ate away at them. She wanted to know what Samantha actually did during her extended break.
"How long were you in standby and how long were you just standing there?" Vanna asked.
Samantha felt a little guilty about her own actions. She simulated standby more than a few times when Vanna checked on her. She also heard everything Vanna said about what she was doing and why. It left her very conflicted. She did hear Vanna state she could join them at any time. She wanted to do it then but didn't. She figured she might as well tell Vanna how it was.
"I stood and waited most of the time." Samantha said. "When you came back from dinner I went into standby for the first time."
The confession made Vanna feel terrible. It seemed like it was worse than she feared. It meant Samantha stood there for hours doing absolutely nothing. She wondered about the multitude of thoughts which must have gone through her head.
"I'm really sorry about it." Vanna said. "I think I was being too selfish. It wasn't my intent."
Samantha didn't want Vanna to feel bad. She understood what she tried to do. She knew she should have acted sooner. She could have gone off at any time to see if she could link up with Jesse and Claire. She knew her sexual freedom was very limited. As soon as Derek and Riley returned, it was over.
"No, I understand your desire." Samantha said. "Do you want me to move the crib back into her room?"
Vanna still wanted to do more. She thought maybe she could tell Samantha it was okay if she stood there and watched her do everything. It would almost be like Samantha did it herself that way. At least Samantha would feel included in whatever she did.
"I want to try doing everything one night." Vanna said. "I need to see how it is."
Samantha relayed the information she observed with Riley. She didn't want to make it sound worse than it was. She didn't want to sugarcoat it either.
"It's very tiring." Samantha said. "I help Riley every night. She was a nervous wreck by only getting a few hours of sleep a day before I began to assist her."
Samantha thought it was very troubling to experience.
Vanna wondered if it would happen to her.
"Maybe I will be too." Vanna said. "I really don't know. It's why I went to find out. I just didn't mean to cause you any distress. I apologize again for it."
Samantha wanted to give Vanna some options.
"I can wait in Precious room." Samantha said. "Or I can go into standby next to her crib in the bedroom."
Vanna wanted to make one thing clear. She expected there to be a little 'personal activity' between Allison and her throughout the night. She wasn't exactly sure how carried away either one of them would get. She would try to show restraint based upon the current situation.
"Allison will spend the night with me." Vanna said. "There's bound to be some personal interaction between us. It may get a little noisy at times. I think we will both hold it in check so we don't wake Precious."
Allison wondered about Samantha and what her restrictions were. If she was going to be in the bedroom with them watching them, maybe a little more could happen. What could it hurt?
"Are you forbidden from having relations while you're Precious guardian?" Allison asked.
Samantha could see there was an opportunity about to develop. She was quick to divulge the new temporary rules.
"Cameron lifted the restriction while Derek and Riley are away." Samantha said. "Cameron doesn't want me to have relations with either of them. She's afraid it will fracture their relationship. It's been very strained the last few months. It's not an uncommon occurrence among couples when a pregnancy is involved."
Allison and Vanna looked at each other with Samantha's new revelation.
Samantha looked both of them in the eyes.
Vanna and Allison knew it wouldn't do the relationship any good. They knew that both Derek and Riley would want to be with Samantha all the time.
"You're very beautiful." Vanna said.
Samantha was aware her Resequencing procedure was nearly finished.
"My sheath has been Resequenced. It's changed very rapidly." Samantha said. "More changes will happen soon to my face."
Allison could see the similarities to her mother. They were quite evident at this point. She wanted to make sure Samantha understood there were other options available to her.
"You can still select another DNA sample." Allison said. "You're clearly attached to Precious."
Samantha felt the call of an earlier obligation she agreed to.
"Claire's asked for my assistance with Summer and Young Allison." Samantha said.
Vanna wondered if Samantha was given a real choice.
"Maybe it's something we all need to talk about." Vanna said.
Allison still wanted a little more.
"Will you go into standby next to the crib while Vanna and I are together?" Allison asked.
"I can do it or go to another room." Samantha said.
Allison and Vanna looked at each other and nodded their heads. It was time to up the ante.
"Will you join us?" Vanna and Allison both asked.
Closing monologue by Cameron:
Join Us
Together we are united
Alone we will all fall
Can you hear the message
Can you hear the call
How far are you willing to go
To reach a common goal
There's no guarantee
It will make you whole
Not everything works out
On the first attempt
It may cause anger
It may lead to contempt
Get your act together
Give it all you've got
Don't be one of many
Who ends up with nought
Turn the negative
Into a positive plus
Take a helping hand
Will you join us
Nobody
