[Many years later]
A long time after the destruction of Rosas, the two best friends were walking through the woods. Their names were Gothel and Layla and they were the nicest girls in the whole kingdom and everyone loved them apart from their bully Eva and her minions whom she called her friends but really Eva was just a spoiled rich girl who made them do her dirty work. They were walking and chatting when they saw them
"Well, well, well." said Eva. "If it isn't the two idiot girls."
"Oh, shut up Eva." said Layla.
"You shut up, orphan girl!" growled Eva.
"Hey!" shouted Layla.
"And look at you over here. If it isn't Miss Gothel with the big dreams of being queen." said Eva.
"Why are you such a bully, Eva?" asked Gothel. "We have done nothing to you yet you have taunted us for years ever since we all started school."
"Because you two such! You're ugly Gothel and you'll never get Prince Jared. The royal family is fixed for rich and stunning families and not some... broke fools."
"Be quiet!" shouted Layla.
"Layla, no. We can't give into Eva. Just let it all out on something else." said Gothel.
"No! We have been playing her games for five years now. We are ten now, it is time we stick up for ourselves."
"Sometimes it's better to back down to a fight rather than start one."
"Fine... let's go."
Layla and Gothel left Eva and her spoiled friends and some of them even started throwing stuff at them so they had to sprint away.
"I hate Eva so much!" complained Layla.
"She may be a bully but sometimes you have to accept there are bad people and you can't let them in your way." said Gothel.
"How do you do it, Gothel? Be so positive all the time? You don't have a home or a family like me as well."
"When it seems you have nothing, you have to think of the things you do have. I have a great school, nice teachers and a friend like you."
"Thanks! You know we need to find a way where we can just... get away from this world. I agree we do have some stuff but Eva is just a mean person and spoils our day."
"A secret spot? I like it!"
"I have just the place! Come on!"
Layla grabbed Gothel's hand and they ran towards the edge of the forest and there was an old canoe boat waiting for them.
"What's this?" asked Gothel.
"Our escape." replied Layla.
"La-"
"No! To our secret spot! I don't want to leave the kingdom especially with those dreams of you marrying the prince."
"Eva is right though, why would Prince Jared wish to marry me? I'm just an orphan."
"No, you're an amazing girl. You put others above yourself, you are beautiful and you are kind. You have everything it takes to become a princess and if Jared doesn't marry you, he is missing out."
Gothel laughed, "Thank you Layla."
"You're welcome and I'm imagining it right now. Queen Gothel, that sounds amazing."
"Thank you, that means a lot."
"Good, now let's go to this spot!"
Layla and Gothel entered the boat and Layla took the oars and they rowed for a while until they saw an island. They parked their boat at the dock to what seems to be an abandoned dock.
"This place gives me the creeps." muttered Gothel.
"But imagine this! This place is huge and could be our own fun place to escape our worries. Surely it will take a ton of work but we can do it if we work together." said Layla.
"But what was this place? There seems to be nothing here, no colour and it feels filled with evil."
"Don't say that! It probably was a kingdom before and perhaps the people left for some reason."
"Why? Do you think..."
"Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! No! This place is not haunted! I have been here several times and I've explored the whole island, if there was a ghost or something, I think I would have found out by now."
"Okay.. if you say so." said Gothel, frightened.
They roamed around a little bit and saw a sign that was labelled 'Welcome to Rosas'.
"Rosas?" questioned Gothel.
"Must be the name of this kingdom before it was abandoned." replied Layla.
"Well, what is here?"
"Oh so much! There is a stunning palace and a large village and it is tremendous. Come on, come this way!"
Layla dragged Gothel to the village but it seemed like a ghost town. What seemed to be such a tremendous kingdom was now colourless and abandoned.
"Uhh..." started Gothel.
"It's not that creep, let's go to the palace now." said Layla.
They looked around a bit ad then saw in the centre of Rosas was a large palace, even bigger than the one in their kingdom but it looked so old and rusty.
"Are you sure it's safe? It looks out of shape." said Gothel.
"I've been up their plenty of times and not one scratch." said Layla.
They looked around a bit and it was definitely magnificent. So many old artefacts lay on the ground and on shelves and it was truly magical but scary at the same time. They went across the hall to see a sceptre-like thing on the ground. Next to it was a locket but they didn't wish to touch it. It was as if an evil soul was trapped inside of it so they left it alone.
"What is that?" asked Gothel.
"I have wondered that at the same time I found it as well but I can't pick it up." replied Layla.
"What do you mean?"
"Watch."
Layla went to the sceptre and used all of her strength to get it off the floor but it was as if it was glued to it.
"Weird." said Gothel and they continued wandering around the palace.
They went into a bigger hall which was so big that your echo could be heard minutes after you have said a word. There were grey banners hanging from the ceiling and candles which seemed to no longer have wax and armour stands that were rusted out. There was one strange thing though and that was that there was a hole in the wall that led into a small and what used to be a secret room. Inside was a mirror that was shaped as a circle and glass orbited the mirror like a sun and it made it look so beautiful.
"What is that thing?" asked a new voice.
The two of them turned around to see Eva behind them, smirking.
"Think you could hide from me? Thought you could have this cool piece of land? Ha! This place is going to be my cool place to hang out; my father will make sure of that." said Eva.
"Why?!" shouted Layla. "Why can't you just leave us alone?!"
"Because it is fun to see you suffer." replied Eva. "Now go."
"Not without this." said Layla and she grabbed the mirror and she sprinted away and Gothel followed her.
"Hey! That's my property!" screamed Eva and ran after them.
They ran through the halls and Layla took Gothel through different turns and entrances, she did know this palace like the back of her hands now but she soon made a wrong turn and they were cornered in a balcony that was high in the air.
"Give me the mirror." panted Eva. "That'll be mine now."
"Never!" smirked Layla and threw the mirror to Gothel and she caught it.
"You pest!" shouted Eva and pushed Layla.
They fell down to the floor of the balcony but it started to crack.
"What's going on?" asked Gothel.
Layla tried to stand up but the balcony cracked even more. Gothel and Eva stepped back but the force led more cracks to occur and soon the balcony couldn't hold Layla's weight anymore and it collapsed. Layla as well as some of the balcony fell down and Gothel screamed for her best friend but as she hit the ground, blood oozed from Layla's body. Gothel ran down with the mirror to check up on her but it was too late. Layla was dead.
"No!" wailed Gothel and tears fled from her eyes. "Why?!"
"I'm..." started Eva.
"You!" shouted Gothel and placed the mirror on the ground and attacked Eva. "You did this!"
Gothel punched Eva in the face several times again and again and she even lost a tooth in the process by the amount of force of Gothel's punches. Blood soared out of Eva from every direction and she cried and ran away limping.
"I will make your life a nightmare!" screamed Gothel. "I promise!"
