Chapter 13-A breach
Rick's P.O.V
Rick woke up and looked around the room he was in. He looked at the nightstand and saw a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a pair of shoots. He stands up and puts the clothes on as he grabs his gun and belt and walks outside. He sees the group around the fire. "Good morning, officer," Lori says as Rick walks over to them.
"Morning," Rick says as he looks around. "Where are, Glenn, Amy, and Daryl?"
"Daryl doesn't eat with the group, Amy and Glenn eat with Daryl and his brother, Merle," Shane answers as he holds out a plate to Rick who takes it and sits down beside Lori.
"So you lead this camp?" Rick asks Shane.
"He is one of the leaders," T-dog says before Shane can answer. "Glenn, Travis, and Dale are also leaders here."
Rick nods as Shane stares at his best friend. "Something on your mind?"
"No," Rick says. "How long have you guys been here?"
"About a month and a half," Alicia answers.
"We might be moving on soon, we've been seeing more and more walkers, they're moving away from big cities," Madison tells him and Rick nods.
"There were a decent amount of them inside of King County, I can't even imagine Atlanta," Rick says.
"It's like time square," Andrea says. "T, you ready to do patrol."
"You're with Jim today, I'm with Alicia," T-dog tells Andrea who nods as she leaves with Jim.
"Patrol?" Rick asks.
"Check the woods, make sure there are no threats. You'll start doing them soon, but for now, just rest," Travis tells Rick. "You think Daryl and Glenn are still going to head into Atlanta?"
"I thought you were avoiding the city," Rick says as he looks around.
"We do, Glenn and Daryl go on runs into the city. They've never had any troubles," Dale says. "Those two are smart and work well together," Dale tells him. "I am going to ask them if they can help into town and grab that box truck they saw, we need a radiator hose for the R.V if we want to get very far."
"I'll ask 'em for you, Dale, if you don't mind," Rick says as he stands. Dale nods as Rick rubs Carl's hair and walks away from the group.
Daryl's P.O.V
Daryl sat in a chair in front of the tent with Merle, Glenn, and Amy. "So we're leaving?" Merle asks.
"We should," Daryl says. "Walkers are moving towards this area and these walls aren't going to stop a herd," Daryl says as he sees Rick walking down to them. "Morning," Daryl says.
"Morning," Rick says.
"You the dead husband?" Merle asks.
"I am," Rick says. "Rick Grimes."
"Merle Dixon, Daryl's brother," Merle says as he eyes the sheriff. "What can we do for you?'
"Dale was going to ask if you two could head into town and grab that box truck you saw. He said if we want to move, we'll need the radiator hose," Rick says and Glenn looks at Daryl who nods.
"Yeah, we'll go," Daryl says. "How you feeling?"
"Good," Rick says.
"I'll look for some painkillers in town," Daryl tells him. "We'll probably need some more bandages," Daryl says. "You gotta keep that wound clean,"
"I appreciate it," Rick says before he turns around and leaves.
"You just make friends with everybody baby brother," Merle says. "I didn't know we were making friends with pigs now."
"He ain't a bad guy," Daryl says as he stands up. "You going to be okay?"
"Yeah, baby brother I'll be fine," Merle says. "I got my gun and knife."
"Don't worry, I'll keep him out of trouble," Amy says and Daryl smirks.
"Good luck with that," Daryl says as he grabs his crossbow. "You ready?" He asks Glenn as he sets his bowl down.
"Let's go," Glenn says as they walk towards the truck.
T-dog's P.O.V
T-dog stabs his knife into a walkers head and drops it to the ground. "That's the third one," He says as he looks around.
"You think we'll leave?" Alicia asks him.
"I don't think we have much of a choice," T-dog tells her as he puts his knife away. "This place won't stop a herd. With how many walkers we have been seeing, it's only a matter of time before we have a herd on our hands," He says.
"Where would we even go? Where is there somewhere that is safe?" Alicia asks.
"I don't know," T-dog says. "A farm maybe, in the country, grow our own food, try to find some animals. Find one away from the big cities."
"We'd have more room," Alicia says as they see another walker. "I got it," She says as she removes her knife and stabs the walker in the eye. "We should leave tomorrow."
"Agreed," T-dog says as they continue to walk.
Shane's P.O.V
Shane walked up to Rick as he sat with Carl. "Hey, bud, you mind giving me a minute with your Dad?" Shane asks Carl who nods as he stands up and walks over to Carol and Sophia. "How you feeling partner?" Shane asks.
"Good," Rick says as he looks at him.
"It's really good to have you back, brother," Shane says. "I could use your help."
"Am I helping you find somewhere we can go? I've been here a day and everybody seems to think we should leave," Rick says. "You disagree?"
"We're safe, we can deal with walkers, Rick. We'll need to move soon, but everybody is taking Daryl and Glenn's words to far, a few groups of walkers isn't a problem. If we go on the road, people are going to get hurt, we need to find somewhere to go before we leave," Shane says.
Rick nods. "It sounds like Daryl and Glenn have the most experience out there, if they think it's dangerous, I'm thinking they are right. But I trust you," Rick says. "What did you need?"
Shane stares at Rick for a moment as he runs his hand through his hair. "Don't worry about it right now, we'll talk later," Shane says and Rick slowly nods as Shane walks away.
Glenn's P.O.V
Glenn and Daryl stop the truck inside of the camp. They climb out and look at Jim and Dale as they walk over to them. "Will this work, Dale?"
"It's perfect, thank you," Dale says. "Let's get the radiator hose switched out,"
"Daryl," Lori says as she walks up to them. "Can I talk to you a minute?" Daryl nods as he follows her and Glenn walks over to Carol and Andrea.
"What are we making ladies?" Glenn asks.
"Some leftover fish and rabbit," Carol tells him. "Glenn, are we leaving?"
"I gotta convince Shane, and Travis. Dale shouldn't be hard, Daryl, and I looked at some places this morning. I'm hoping we are out in the next couple of days, don't worry Carol, we'll be okay," Glenn says and Carol nods as Glenn walks away.
Lori's P.O.V
Lori stops and looks at the redneck. "I've been a bitch. I can't defend it, but I want you to know that, I'm sorry and I am very grateful to you, for brining him back to Carl and I," Lori says.
"It was the right thing to do," Daryl says. "Look, we're stuck in this shit whether we like it or not. All I want is for us to act civil, we gotta trust each other to make it."
Lori nods. "I agree," Lori says. "Can I ask for a favor?"
"Sure," Daryl says.
"I know Merle has some antibiotics, I saw it after the fight, do you think you could see if you has anything for, Rick?"
"I'll check," Daryl says as he pulls his bag off his shoulder and pulls out a bottle. "Some painkillers,"
"Thank you."
"Daryl!" Daryl turns when he hears Glenn's voice and runs towards him. He get's to the bottom of the hill and sees Amy standing over two dead walkers. The group standing behind her.
"What happened?" Daryl asks as he walks up to her. "You okay?"
"Yeah, they came from behind the tent," Amy says.
"That means there is a breach," Travis says. "I thought you said we were clear," Travis says to Andrea.
"We were," Andrea growls.
"Alright—" Shane says as he pauses and looks at the sun that was starting to set. "We need to find the breach, tomorrow, we'll figure something out."
"I think our move Is pretty clear here, officer," Merle says from where he sat. "Time to go. Anybody disagree?"
"He's right," Travis says. "Tomorrow, we pack and leave this place," Travis says as he looks at Glenn and Dale who nod and finally Shane nods.
Amy's P.O.V
The group sat around the fire as they ate. They had found the breach at the back fence and Daryl and Amy were currently standing by it. "I didn't say thank you earlier," Daryl says.
"You don't have to, we protect each other," Amy says.
Daryl nods as he leans against the tree. "I think you've managed to gain Merle's respect."
"Do I get a trophy?" Amy asks with a smirk.
"I'll find you one," Daryl says. "You know you don't have to stay don't here. You can go eat."
"I want to stay down here, my other option is going to sit at the fire with my sister who just judges me. I'll probably end up sitting with Merle and Glenn anyways," Amy says. "I prefer your company," Amy says.
"I don't mind your either," Daryl says.
Shane's P.O.V
Shane sat beside Rick as they ate. "T-dog suggested a farm," Alicia says making Shane look at her. "A place we could go."
"It isn't a bad idea," Madison says. "We should start thinking about that, we aren't that far from winter and we need somewhere to stay during the winter."
"Plenty of farms down by Senioa," Chase says making the group look at him. "Far enough away from the city that we should be safe."
"What about Fort Benning?" Shane asks.
"The military? They were on the front lines of this, we've all seen them fall," Nick says. "I think a farm would be our best idea,"
"I agree," Dale says as he looks at Travis who nods. "I guess Senoia is our next desination, we'll pack up tomorrow."
The next morning, Georgia border.
Two women and a man look at the Georgia border. "We made it," The man says. "Do you truly believe that your son is alive?" He asks as he looks at the woman.
"I have to know," The woman says. "If Travis is still alive, he would do anything to keep Chris safe,"
"Alright then, Liza. Let's find your family."
Thanks for reading, next chapter the group leaves the camp and heads on the road. I thought about doing a walker attack but I couldn't figure out a good way to do it but don't worry, something is coming, and the new characters are Liza Ortiz, Daniel Salazar, and Ofelia Salazar, more on their story to come. As always suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
