Chapter 16-Lexi's story
Amy's P.O.V
Amy slowly opens her eyes and looks around the room. She sees Andrea on one side of the bed with her head on the bed and Daryl sleeping in one of the chairs. She lays her hand on Andrea's head and shakes it. Her sister opens her eyes and looks at her. "You're awake," Andrea says.
"Yes, I'm awake," Amy says.
"How are you feeling?" Andrea asks. "I'm thirsty," Amy says. "Not in too much pain."
"Let me go get Hershel, he went out to check on the horses," Andrea says. Amy nods as Andrea stands up and leaves the room. Amy turns her head and looks at Daryl. "You gonna open your eyes?" Amy asks Daryl who opens his eyes and looks at her. "What happened?"
"You were shot by one of Hershel's friend. Otis, so he told me about this place and I brought you here. You know you're heavier than you look," Daryl says.
"Thank you," Amy says with a smirk. "I owe you my life." "You don't owe me anything," Daryl says as he leans forward. "I'm just glad you're okay." "Are the others still on the highway?" Amy asks. "No, they're here," Daryl says. "The only thing you need to worry about is getting better."
Amy nods as Hershel comes in with Andrea. He holds out a glass of Orange juice to Daryl. "You need to drink, I don't need you passing out outside. You gave a lot of blood, you shouldn't be going any further than your camp today," Hershel tells Daryl who nods as he takes a drink. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm alright. Doesn't hurt too bad," Amy says. "How long do I have to stay here." "You need to stay on bed rest for two or three days," Hershel tells her. "Someone will stay with you. Daryl a word," Hershel says. "I'll be back," Daryl tells her. She nods as Daryl follows Hershel out of the room and onto to the porch.
"I would like to make this clear, once she is healed, I expect you all to move on," Hershel tells him.
"You know I ain't the leader of this group, right?"
"I do."
"I'll let them know," Daryl tells Hershel who nods as Daryl walks towards the group.
Glenn's P.O.V
Glenn looks at Daryl as he walks up to the camp. "How's Amy doing?" Glenn asks. "She's awake," Daryl says. "You can see her in a minute, Hershel wanted me to tell you all something."
"What is it?" Rick asks.
"Once Amy is healed, he expects us to leave," Daryl says. "This is exactly the kind of place we were looking for," Shane says.
"Doesn't he understand safety in number?" Chase asks.
"He doesn't know us and he wants to keep his family safe," Rick says. "So what do we do?"
"I have an idea," The group turns around and looks at Lexi as she walks up behind Daryl with a basket of fruit.
"Who the hell are you?" Merle asks. "This is Lexi, she helped Otis get the supplies for Amy," Daryl says. "What's your idea?" Dale asks.
"There's a farm, less than a five minute drive from here, not a far walk if you cut across the field. You could stay there, try to work with Hershel," Lexi says. "What's the catch?" David asks.
"A small group of walkers is there," Lexi says. "It was my parents farm."
"How'd they get in?" T-dog asks.
"I didn't shut the gate," Lexi answers. "The fence might need a little bit of work, but it will have power, water, you can cows and horses. It will be a good home."
"It isn't a bad idea," Madison says. "What do you want out of this?"
"To bury my parents," Lexi says. "A place in your group as well." "Why not stay here?" Travis asks. "No offense to Hershel or his family, but they don't know what they are doing. You guys do," Lexi says.
"Sounds fair," Travis says. "We should try to make a deal with Hershel, we could help each other," Alicia says. "Alright, I'll talk with Hershel," Glenn says as he looks at Daryl. "He seems to respect you. You wanna come." "Yeah," Daryl says.
"I'll take Jim, Lexi, Alicia, T-dog, Madison, Chris, and Chase and clear the house," Rick says. "Alright, let's get to work," Glenn says as he walks towards the house with Daryl.
Andrea's P.O.V
Andrea watched Amy as Patricia changed her bandage. "I'll come check on you again in a little bit sweetie," Patricia tells Amy who nods as Patricia leaves.
"Well get on with it," Amy says. "Get on with what?" Andrea asks. "I figured you would blame Daryl for what happened,"
"I thought about it," Andrea says. "But if that had happened with anybody else, you'd be dead. You want me to say it? I was wrong, he's a good guy and I was being a bitch." "That is the best thing I have heard in months," Amy says with a smirk. "Shut up," Andrea says as Otis comes into the room. "They said that you are doing good," Otis says. "I came in here to say I'm sorry, for shooting you." "It wasn't your fault, it was an accident," Amy says. "I'm alive because you went and got those supplies, so why don't we just call it even." "I can do that," Otis says. "If you need anything though, just ask." "Thank you," Amy says and Otis nods as he leaves.
"Alright, time to sleep. You need rest."
"Get up here, I don't imagine you slept well last night," Amy says and Andrea smiles as she climbs in bed with her. "Sleep," Andrea says as she closes her eyes.
Shane's P.O.V
Shane watched the house as Travis walked up behind him. "What are you thinking about?"
"This place already has everything we need, we shouldn't be going to a place that has already been overrun," Shane says. "This is Hershel's land, we have to respect that."
"If this farm ain't safe. I'm not putting Carl or Lori back out there," Shane tells him. "I'll convince him to let us stay or..."
"Or what, Shane?" Travis asks.
"Nothing man, we'll...we'll make him understand," Shane says. "Come on, we should go and check on the others," Travis nods as Shane walks away from him.
Hershel's P.O.V
Hershel looked at Glenn and Daryl as they walked inside. "I hope you have not come here to ask me to allow you to stay," Hershel says.
"We haven't," Glenn says. "Mind if we sit?"
"Please," Hershel says as he motions for them to sit. "What is this about?" "Lexi told us about her family's farm. We're going to clear the walkers and we'll go there. I was hoping that we could help each other," Glenn says. "Help each other?" Hershel asks. "Yes, with supplies, keeping each other safe," Daryl says.
"It's pretty clear that most of you have been holed up on the farm since the start. We haven't been, we've survived out there, Hershel, we can help you and your family do the same."
"What do you want in return?" Hershel asks. "We could use a doctor and none of us knows how to run a farm. We have knowledge and skills to offer each other, Hershel. We're going to be neighbors, might as well help each other," Glenn tells the older man. "Alright," Hershel says. "I'm willing to work with your group."
"Thank you," Glenn says. "How long until Amy can be moved?"
"Tomorrow at the earliest," Hershel tells him. "You are welcome to stay the night."
"Thank you," Glenn says. "You coming?" Glenn asks as he stands up and walks to the door. "They are sleeping right now," Hershel tells Daryl who nods as he follows Glenn outside.
Rick's P.O.V
Rick drives the car down Lexi's driveway. They see the house and don't see any walkers. "Where are they?" Lexi asks as Rick stops the car and they start to climb out.
"Keep your eyes open," Rick says as he pulls out his revolver. "Lexi, you and I will go into the house," Rick says. "The rest of you need to check the property."
They nod as they split up. Rick pushes the door to the house open and enters. "How did you get out?"
"I was outside when they came, my parents were walking back to the house from the barn. I heard them scream and when I got to them, the walkers were already tearing them apart, some came after me and I killed them, and then I ran to the fence and ran for Hershel's farm," Lexi tells him as they check the house. "Otis said he came back and locked the gate, to keep them here." "When was this?"
"About a month ago," Rick says as Madison comes inside. "We found them," Madison says. Rick and Lexi follow them outside and over to the barn. "Someone put them in here."
"Break it open," Rick tells Chase as he removes his knife. "How many walkers." "Ten counting my parents," Lexi answers as she pulls a knife out. Rick nods to Chase who breaks the lock. The walkers slowly start to come out and they group starts to take them down as they get close. Rick stabs walker through the head as the last two come out of the barn. "That's my parents."
Rick nods as Lexi walks up to them. She grabs her mother by her shirt and stabs her in the head and then grabs her father. "I'm so sorry," She says before she stabs him.
"Let's get these bodies in the truck, we'll bury her parents. Chase, let's go and get the shovels," Rick says to the man who nods as they walk back towards the truck and Lexi bends down by her parents.
Merle's P.O.V
Merle looks at Daryl as he walks up to him. "Glad to see you haven't forgotten about me baby brother," Merle says. "Blondie's doing good?" "Yeah," Daryl says. "You feeling okay?" "Yes, I'm fine," Merle says. "You know baby brother. It seems like these people are putting more trust in you."
"Don't matter to me how much they trust me," Daryl says.
"Good, I've come to terms with you hanging with Glenn and Amy, but I don't need you becoming best friends with that pig." "You talking about, Rick?" Daryl asks. "No, I'm talking about Shane," Merle replies sarcastically."Man, how many times do you have to hear this, it doesn't matter what happened before the world ended, we-" "I don't need to hear your speech about staying together, just stop being these people's bitch," Merle says as they hear a car. "Looks like the pig is back." Daryl doesn't say anything as the group gets out of the car. "Well?" Shane asks.
"It will work," Madison says. "We'll move tomorrow, so everybody needs to get some rest."
The group nods as Daryl looks at Merle. "I'm going to go stay with Amy," Daryl says before he walks away from his brother.
Lexi's P.O.V
Lexi sat on the R.V watching the barn. "What are you doing up?" Lexi looks at Alicia as she climbs up the ladder. "I'm just thinking," Lexi says. "About?" Alicia asks
"The walkers," Lexi says. "They were locked in that barn Alicia. The only person that went to that barn that I know about was Otis." "You think he locked them in there?" Alicia asks. "I don't know," Lexi says. "I just think something is up." "Worry about it tomorrow, you've had a long day," Alicia says. "I'll take watch." "Thanks," Lexi says and Alicia nods as Lexi climbs down.
Thanks for reading, next chapter we see what Daniel has been up to as the group moves to the farm and Lexi has a talk with Otis. As always suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
