Chapter 19-Leaving for supplies

Rick's P.O.V

Rick walked down the stairs of the house and looked at Lori and Carol as they cooked food. "Nice to have a kitchen again?" "It is," Carol says. "Did you shower officer?" "I did," Rick answers. "Thank god for T-dog."

They nod as Travis walks into the kitchen. "How was watch last night?" Rick asks Travis. "Shane's gone," Travis tells him. "What do you mean Shane's gone?" Lori asks. "Last night, Shane left, he said these group wasn't the right place for him, that we were weak," Travis says. "We have to go and find him," Rick says.

"He doesn't want to be found, Rick," Travis says. "He made his choice and we have to respect it, even if we don't like it."

Rick doesn't say anything as he sits down and runs his hand through his hair.

T-dog's P.O.V

The group stood around the house eating as Travis told them what happened the previous night. "So we're just going to let him go?" Nick asks. "It's his choice," Travis says. "He knows where we are if he changes his mind. We have work to do, we need to get this place secured."

"Who will take his place?" Alicia asks. "I think T-dog should," Dale says making the man look at him. "Does anybody disagree?"

"I think he's right, T-dog," Glenn says as he looks at the man. "You have a good head on your shoulders and this was your idea, everybody here trusts you."

"Fine, I'll lead," T-dog says. "Travis is right though, we need secure this place and work on building an alliance with Hershel," T-dog says as he looks at Daryl. "He seems to respect you, you'll talk to him for us." Daryl nods as the group continues to talk.

Three days later

Daryl's P.O.V

Daryl helps Amy out of the R.V. "Where are we going?" "I gotta talk with Hershel, I figured he could check up on you while I'm there," Daryl tells Amy who nods. "He said you should be fine to travel between the farms." Amy nods as Daryl helps her into the truck. Daryl shuts the door and climbs on the driver side. He starts the farm and leaves the farm. "Is Merle talking to you?" Amy asks Daryl who shakes his head.

"Not since I yelled at him," Daryl tells her. "It's his choice, I ain't gonna keep bugging him, he'll get over it," Daryl says.

"He'll come around, it took you a little while to come around and it is will take Merle a little while as well," Amy tells him. Daryl nods as he climbs out of the car to open Hershel's gate. He comes back and climbs in before driving through the gate and shutting it again before they continue to the house.

Daryl gets out of the car and looks at Hershel as he walks outside. "I see you bought my favorite patient," Hershel says. "I'm your only patient," Amy says. "I'm ready for my daily checkup." "Come in," Hershel says as he leads them inside. He leads them into the bedroom and Amy sits down on the bed. "I assume you are here for a reason?"

"Yeah, we got a farm, but no livestock, I noticed you got a couple," Daryl says. "I was hoping a deal could be made for some of 'em and maybe a horse."

"That is asking a lot, Daryl," Hershel says. "I know, figured you need something a little more, supplies we could get for you." "Weapons," Hershel says. "The only gun we have is Otis's, we also have a bat but that won't do us much. Gas for the generator and some medical supplies and I'm sure we could work something out." "I can do that," Daryl says. "I even know where to get it."

"You get me that, I'll give you two cows, a couple of chickens and a horse," Hershel offers to the younger Dixon brother who nods. "You got yourself a deal," Daryl says. "How's she looking?" "Good," Hershel says. "Now that doesn't mean she should go after swinging that knife of hers but she is healing." Daryl nods. "If you get guns, your family is going to need training?"

"Are you offering?" Hershel asks Daryl who nods. "I'll talk you up on that offer, I don't need it, but Beth, Maggie, Patricia and Jimmy could," Hershel tells Daryl before he looks at Amy. "You are all set my dear, just keep taking it easy and you'll be fine." "How long until I can go on runs again?" Amy asks. "A week, maybe two," Hershel tells her. "Don't push yourself, Amy." Amy nods as she stands up. "We'll see you later." Hershel nods as the two leave the house.

Travis's P.O.V

Travis walked up to Glenn as he put his bag in the car. "Where are going?" "I'm taking Alicia into town," Glenn says. "Figured we could hit a few of the buildings, see what there is to fine," Glenn tells Travis who nods as Daryl pulls back into the farm. He climbs out of the car and walks up to the two men. "What did Hershel say?" Travis asks him. "He said he would give us a horse, two cows and a couple of chickens if we get him weapons, medicine, and some gas. I also offered to teach his family to shoot."

"You know where we can get that?" Travis asks. "Yeah," Daryl says. "King County, the hospital and there was a military camp outside of the town."

"What about Fort Benning?" Glenn asks. "What about it?" "It could have supplies. Do you really think it is still standing?" Glenn asks. "No," Daryl says. "The Army went down quicky, we all know that. You wanna sent a group there?" "Might not be the worse idea," Glenn answers. "We need supplies, it isn't going to do us any good to all be hulled up here." "I can go," Daryl says. "No, you can't. You're the one Hershel trusts, you need to be here," Glenn says. "How long do we have to get Hershel these supplies."

"He didn't give us a time limit," Daryl answers. "Alright, let's gather everybody and figure out a plan," Glenn says and Daryl nods as he walks away.

Glenn's P.O.V

Everybody gathered inside the house. "Alright, Hershel has agreed to give us livestock, Daryl will be taking a group to King County to get the supplies that Hershel wants, but I also want to send a group to Fort Benning. Does anybody want to go, Daryl, Amy, and Merle are out." "I'll go," Jim says. "How many people are you thinking?"

"Five," Glenn says. "I'll lead it," T-dog says. He looks at Lexi. "You wanna come?" "Sure," She answers.

"I'll go," Chase says and he is followed by David. "You guys will in two hours, Daryl, Alicia and I will go with you to King County. Rick we wouldn't mind a tour guide," Glenn says as he looks at the former sheriff who nods. "We'll leave when T-dog does."

Lori's P.O.V

Lori walked up to Alicia as she walked towards the barn. "I need to talk to you," Lori tells the girl who nods. "What's going on, what did the test say?" Alicia asks. "I'm pregnant," Lori tells her. "I can't have this baby, Alicia." "Are you asking me to get you abortion pills?" Alicia asks Lori who nods. "No, I won't do that." "Please, Alicia, this world is not fit for a baby, it will never know happiness, or love. It will die in agony. I don't want my baby to live in this world." "You aren't even giving it a chance," Alicia says. "This world, it is terrible Lori, that is true but we can make it better, we can build some kind of live for each, we can have a life. This farm could be the start of that life and you don't even want to give it a chance to live." "I don't even know how to take care of the child I already have," Lori says as her voice breaks. "I don't even know how to keep Carl safe, how am I supposed to keep a baby safe, how will I stop the walkers from hearing it. Tell me the answers to these questions, cause I don't know, Alicia. I don't."

"We can figure something out," Alicia says as she lays her hand on her shoulder. "We can, Lori if you do this, you could regret it for the rest of your life and it could still be a very long life."

"Please, just grab me the medicine and let me make the choice for myself. If you don't, I will find someone who will," Lori says before she walks away from Alicia who watches her and sighs.

Merle's P.O.V

Merle sat in his tent away from the house. He climbed out of his tent when he heard someone walking towards him. He stopped when he saw Lori walking past his tent. He watches as she stops by a tree and takes a few deep breaths as she wipes the tears from her eyes. Merle looks at his tent and then back at the women. "Everything okay?" Merle asks after a moment making Lori look at him. "No," She says as she sits down against the tree and runs her hands through her hair. "I am having a crisis to say the least." "Marriage problems?" Merle asks. "Baby problems," Lori says and Merle looks at her confused for a moment before his eyes widen. "You're pregnant?" Merle asks Lori who nods. "Shane's baby." "Yes, it is," Lori says. "I don't know what to do."

"I think you're too riled up to think about it," Merle says as he bends down in front of the women. "Take a few deep breaths and count to ten." "What?" Lori asks. "Just do it," Merle says and Lori looks at him for a moment before she closes her eyes and takes a few deep breaths as she starts to count. Her breathing slows down as she stops crying. She looks at Merle after ten seconds. "Daryl used to have panic attacks, when our Dad would come home from his time out."

Lori nods. "Thank you." Merle nods as he stands up. "Get back to the group," Merle says as he walks towards his tent. "Merle," Lori says making the older Dixon brother stop. "What do you think I should do?" "It ain't my choice," Merle says. "You gotta make it for yourself, not for the group or Rick. For yourself," Merle says before he goes back into his tent.

Daryl's P.O.V

Daryl, Glenn, Rick, and Alicia walked up to T-dog as he put his bag in a truck. "We'll see you in a couple of days," Glenn says to the large man who nods as he hugs him. "Keep this idiot alive," T-dog says to Daryl who smirks. "Good luck, T-dog," Daryl tells the man who nods as he goes around to the driver side of the truck and leaves. "You guys ready?" Daryl asks the other three who nod as Daryl climbs on his bike and they get in the car and they leave the farm heading for King County.
